The air was rather chilly tonight - much too cold for the glowbugs to be about. In their absence, the forest was a dark, dreary place. Depressing, almost. The shadows were long and blue in the light of the moon. It was no longer full, but that had, by no means, dimmed its splendor.

One of these shadows was moving - a stocky shadow with horns and teeth. A faint glow emanated from his head-feathers, evidence of a small, cold friend. The shadow walked along, unconscious as to whether he was hidden or visible, his ten amber orbs rolling about lazily. Though this part of the forest was dangerous, being right along the Adahy-Di'taki border, his countenance was one of calm arrogance. Fear was not a word Fadefeather understood.

He never stopped to consider why it was that he didn't care for his life. Death just seemed...an impossibility. With all of the fights he had been in, and all of the wars...none of them had killed him yet. And that was unlikely to change - or at least, he thought so.

User ImageSoft Wind slowly treaded through the vegetation as he walked along the border of the Adahy lands. The forest was silent and cold making his breath harsh against his throat and his feet heavy. Fortunately the light had not all decapitated from the moon so that he would not be feeling his way through the forest blind.

Something then caught his eye. A glowbug? Maybe not. The light shined only slightly as if the light was covered. He took a step closer. Not many would stray from the colony it was highly unusual.

Either way, it was a source of light that Soft Wind wouldn't take for granted. Slowly through the brush he walked, careful not to get his feathers tugged on my stray branches.

There was something on the breeze - a scent. Male, Adahy. Fadefeather paused, peering around. His countenance was peaceful, with his weight resting unevenly on his four claws, ears in their regular, non-hostile position. He could not see the Adahy, but he felt no fear. If it was an aggressor, he would run or fight. If it was peaceful...eh, who knew? Regardless, the Di'taki wasn't concerned. If he died, so be it.

Softly, he cooed out in to the darkness, "Hello, friend."

His body tensed at the sound of the Di'Taki. Soft Wind gave a snarl as he looked towards the sound. Of course! A glowbug would only be alone if it had bonded with either an Adahy or Di'Taki. Soft Wind scolded himself for his foolishness.

"This is too close to Adahy land trespasser." It was halfhearted of course, but that didn't stop Soft Wind from doing his duty. If he could not be respectable to his tribe's beliefs, he would at least follow other rules laid out by the elder. "Turn here and go back to the dark forest."

Soft Wind stepped closer to get a better view. The Di'taki's dark coat made it hard for him to see the trespasser's body. Soft Wind's body relaxed, if only slightly, after seeing the trespasser's relaxed silhouette.

Fadefeather could only see the faint outline of bright teal against the shadows of the forest. This was an odd one - all the other Adahy he had run into had attacked him on sight, or attempted to. They quickly lost his trail in the darkness of the woods, and none had dared to follow him to closely into Di'taki territory. Especially at night, Adahy intruders would either make it out alive, or suffer some of the worst fates a Grimshaw can ever imagine.

Or at least, Fadefeather liked to think of it that way. No matter. He was here for company, and it was company he was going to get, even if he lost a bit of flank in the process. Ignoring the Adahy's threats, the male continued, "It's quite a lovely night. There's a bit of a chill in the air, as our lands descend into winter. Wouldn't you agree?"

He could only hesitate after seeing the Di'Taki's reaction. If he did not retreat soon, Soft Wind would be forced to attack; something he would rather not do. How would he explain it to Acere... what if he was part of her tribe? Thoughts raced through his head at a rapid pace.

He readied his body to attack; his horns titled and his body lowered. Soft Wind studied the Di'Taki, slowly coming to a response. "It's no better or worse than any other; cold as it may becoming. No other warnings; leave now or accept the consequence."

He eyed the other male silently for a moment. This was going to end just like all of the other encounters, wasn't it? Fadefeather remained relaxed, though his face was slightly more grave than it had been before. This Di'taki was gutsy, though, and he continued to press his luck. "It won't be long before the moon fades out into nothingness again...The sky always seems so dreary without a moon."

What was he going to do... He was reluctant to attack but his urge of responsibility tugged his body to act. Before realizing he had even moved, Soft Wind's body moved forward as he ran at the Di'Taki at full speed, horns pointed as he charged with a heavy step.

Mm. The male ducked his head, chortling softly, "Now, now. If you're going to act this way..." Fadefeather awaited the crash of the Adahy's horns into his own, his body tense and ready.

There was a great thunder as their horns clashed. Pain struck his skill as he pushed forward with gritted teeth. In a matter of seconds Soft Wind was several feet away once more, reading himself to attack. He would not stop. Not unless his body failed him.

The Di'taki took the blow as ceremoniously as one can when taking the force of a sledgehammer to their head. He staggered slightly, eyes shut as an electric crackling reverberated around his skull. When his amber eyes reopened, he could see the aggressor some distance away, readying himself again.

Well, he was a persistent one, wasn't he? Fadefeather launched himself forward, jaws snapping. If Soft Wind wanted to play, he'd be more than happy to oblige.

(( Want to do a dice battle? ))

He caught the teeth of his opponent with his horns- he felt the pressure of his opponent's jaws and cringed. Soft Wind twisted and turned his body in attempt to force the Di'Taki back. He could not go back after he had chosen to attack.

Snarling he pushed forwards lifting his horns with each step. His strategy was to flip Fadefeather over and expose his belly to his canines.

((Suuuure~. But, how? I've not done that before.))

The Di'taki's jaws held tight, teeth locked onto the bony spines on top of the Adahy's head. He couldn't back down now - he was too close. There would be no way he could spring out of the Adahy's claw range before he was hit. Still, as Soft Wind pushed and lifted, the male could feel his claws dragging through the grass, slowly lifting from the ground until he was standing on his tip-toes.

With a strong heave Soft Wind pushed the Di'Taki onto his back. The first blow would be his; no more clashing horns, it would be for blood this time.

His rushed towards the Di'Taki with his horns pointed. The blow had left a deep scratch on his opponent's hide. It seems as if he has slightly veered off course when rushing forward. Quickly he jumped back. It was time to regain his calm exterior the next blow had to be more effective as he did not want the battle to drag on long.

"Leave now Di'Taki!" he snarled.

Fadefeather hissed as the Adahy landed a deep blow to his side. He could feel the warm blood leak down his pelt, revealing the severity of his wound. Peering up at Soft Wind, he launched himself forward explosively, jaws snapping and hitting...thin air. Had he been able to curse at that point, he would've.

By now, he had a taste for blood. Injured, the Di'taki could feel himself boiling. He knew he was wrong to come to this side of the forest - but there was no reason he couldn't take one of these creatures out now that he was here.
