Without Aimee, I'm sure a lot of people in the US would not know about these wonderful dolls. You owe a lot to her stare

I wouldn't, her forum is very helpful.

I don't have any strong emotion about Aimee one way or another. It'd be pretty sad if she didn't have the forum or kept it going, but I ordered my doll before I ever really visited DoA (I knew it existed, but never bothered with it before). So... while a lot of people wouldn't have dolls without DoA, I wouldn't be one of them! smile (I wouldn't have my second doll, though)

I mainly like DoD because I can say I'm not fond of most Volks dolls, without fearing the almighty hand of modship coming and crashing down on my head! whee Personally, I think its gotten a little boring, and slow in the last two days or so. Everyone's dishing about the same old things. sad

ninja I'm on there, but I'm not a basher. Alot of DOAers have the wrong overall impression of DoD.

Heh, I just got an account there. It's pretty funny. Frankly, I like the ability to criticize dolls I don't particularly like without being shot down. I do like DOA a lot though; I just think that some people there get a bit carried away with the hobby.

Den of Demons (no I will never call it DoD, although I am far from being a Dream of Doll fan, they had the name acronym first and do not deserve to have it tarnished this way) is quite possibly the most immature forum I have ever had the displeasure of viewing. It is a sad, sad attempt at an alternative doll forum like Controversial Dolls. It thrives on and breeds hatred and intolerance, and I do not see why anyone feels they can justify its existence. The dolls are not yours, they are not being forced onto you, there is no reason to criticize something that is not harming you and is loved dearly by another human being. I am an ardent supporter of Controversial Dolls because although we have one area for snark, it is not senseless, inane hatred, and we never name names or steal photos. Kiriko created a haven where mature doll owners can share their R/NC17 rated thoughts and images without jeopardising the safety of Den of Angels. Aimee did not force mature content off the site with malicious intent. Den of Demons, however, was spawned out of jealousy and misunderstanding of Aimee, her forum, and all of the beautiful dolls and loving owners on it. I hope that Den of Demons will disappear soon and take all of its puerility and bitterness with it.

I went
"WRYYYYYYYYYYYYY" when I checked out the forum. There's enough drama on DoA for me.

I decided to join it and at first thought it to be very immature but shortly after that I noticed something. If people ARE being stupid, you can tell them why and they tend to stop. The main Mod asked why a thread should be removed at one point and when it was pointed out that it could spread false information and not just opinions, you know what she did? She removed the thread as asked.

Yeah people have a lot of negative opinions, but they're also reasonable. And it's not a place where you have to watch what you say because you might get randomly banned. Also it's nice to know that maybe someones compliment for once is a real one and not just someone saying "yeah! I like that!" like you find here on Gaia(in the main forums) and on DoA.

Sure, the mob mentality shows up everywhere and you can't really stop that. But it is nice to have a place where you CAN say you don't like something without getting stupid responses to it you're not allowed to argue with. I've said things in a polite manner before on DoA about things like how I don't like the volks headmolds that much. I was VERY adament about how it was an opinion and not a comment on quality. You know what I got? People telling me that I shouldn't judge and that their quality is great. And if I respond with "you didn't read the post, don't post if you're just skimming keywords" I know that I would be told something about how I shouldn't be rude.

DoA HAS been a bit better about this as of late. I've seen several conversations that even only a few months ago would have been locked before you could count to ten.

It's just two extreems. *shrugs* I don't see why it's any worse or better. As for bad mouthing Aimee? Yes people make fun of her on occasion, but for most of it it's based off things and yes I know that it's a bit mean. I personally don't do it partially because I don't really know her. But believing that ANYONE in charge of a large forum who puts their name out there is exempt from the masses saying s**t is more than a little ignorant of how people are.

I have yet to actually visit this forum, but damn it's getting a alot of flack. I can understand why nobody should(or for that matter would) like it. It sounds stupid and hateful for people who own the dolls who are blasted on there and I don't like the sound of it.

As for Aimee, IF ANYONE HERE HATES HER FOR ANY REASON THEN THEY SHOULD FLUSH THEMSELVES DOWN A TOILET!!! This is so not what we need. I don't care if YOU would still have had your doll without any of Aimee's help, but there are soooooo many more of us who were introduced to these beautiful things by her, I know I was. I originally loved her site for it's artwork and then I found the dolls, I found Alita, and knew THEN AND THERE that I had to have one someday. Aimee had so much to do with introducing these dolls to people in North America that it would be ludacris to have such bad feelings about her.

TeaTime, you can say whatever you want on DoA as long as it is true and not flaming anyone. I don't know where you people get off thinking Aimee is censoring people, I'd like to see concrete evidence of this.

Oak-leaf - Don't pass judgement on something you haven't looked at. I'd listen to your argument if you didn't start it with basically saying that you'll only listen to what others have to say about something without going to look yourself.

Usagi665 - I understand that. I didn't say that Aimee was censoring people. I was trying to state that the way the group mentality has been set up it's hard to say certain things without people moaning and groaning about it. People just jump on the bandwagon. This goes for most boards.

And also happens on Den of Demons rolleyes

I have a love/hate relationship with DOA.

It was mostly love until I got chewed out by a couple of people (including a mod) for simply giving my opinion on a menial discussion.
The mod was especially being a pain in the a**, and said something to the effect of "You have to keep your opinions to yourself" and that I had no tact.
Keep in mind, I said nothing derogatory or insulting.
neutral

So yeah, I was basically scolded for disrupting the rainbows and smiley faces atmosphere that is DOA.
They ended up locking and deleting the thread because of my constant arguing with the mod.
Ain't that a b***h? >;o

Oh, and I really don't feel that I owe Aimee anything, considering I knew about Dollfie and other BJD's before I knew of DOA.
That isn't to say I don't feel grateful to her for the forum anyhow, considering how convenient it is, despite having it's moments.

Pot Kettle Black much? rofl rofl
I find it hysterical when someone comes to the one sided defense of one thing while doing the basics of what they're accusing the opposition of. DoA isn't perfect or flawless. Nothing is. It would be sad if you truely turned your back on an entire forum in ill will over a conflict that was only carried out by a few members, not all. Not to mention the fire was fanned equally in all directions by individuals who were/are members of one or both forums.

She didn't say Aimee now did she? Where are you getting off thinking anyone's 'negative' opinion about DoA is a personal attack on Aimee. There's more to DoA than just one person. It is a community after all. The social structure and ettiquette isn't limited to the forum staff, owner or the rules and guidelines, but a growing and changing aspect of all those who participate and interact there.

Aimee had so much to do with introducing these dolls to people in North America that it would be ludacris to have such bad feelings about her.
Hitler invented and therefore introduced Jenga, S'mores, andf the original VW bug to the world, yet you'll rarily find anyone who'll acknowledge him for his achievements or put aside their personal feelings of hatred to respect things they or others use/enjoy. This isn't a comparison of Hitler to Aimee, but of how people act out and refuse to acknowlege someone elses achievements. Good intentions or achievements don't excuses people's personal feelings though. Just as they hate and judge close-mindedly, you're doing the same to them, and that makes you no different neutral

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So now for my personal view X3
I'm a member of both forums.
Den of Demons is actually what introduced me to BJDs lol.
For me, DoA is more of a resource while DoD for conversation.
Not that I have anything against DoA conversation wise, I've just never been a fan of vBulletin forums. Then you have the countless other forums and communities like bjd_revolution[LJ] , Silk Spa [forum], and Our Silent Friends [Y!Group], that I like and use as resources too biggrin

Sour is super crazy (in the good 'I just orgasmed in my pants' kind fo way) and I have no clue about Aimee. Never interacted with her personally and refuse to pass my own personal judgements on people I don't have my own experiences to go off of ^_____^
