The young doe had grown bored while sitting around the swamp watching the other does primp and strut for the bucks. Such activities were not her game, though she certainly didn't mind getting the attention of the bucks - she just preferred to do it one on one. Because really, what better way was there to make sure they had eyes for you and only you while you were flirting? It was because of this Laughing Shadows had wandered off from the group she had been spending time with, making sure her behind swayed just so as she left and took a turn towards the water.
If nothing else, she could always look for berries or for someone new to meet and play with. While Laughing Shadows had little trouble talking to people it was her suspicions that people might be out to get her that often left her alone and without a buck once things were said and done. In groups she did just fine, because she didn't have to be great friends with the other kimeti, she could just laugh and play. When they were alone, though, with just one or two others was when it became problematic. She could never quite guess what the others were thinking and that bothered her. Though the game of flirting was still fun regardless.

Dahlia had left the familiar sight and sounds of the shore, turning more inland then is typical. He was searching, though he wasn't sure what for. Just something, anything, that was new. Or even old, things half remembered from his time as a colt. That's not to say Dahlia no longer liked living at the swamp's edge. He was just bored of the same everything, happening every day.
Especially the lack of others to talk to. An error he'd unknowingly made when he decided to live where surf and sand met swamp. There were not nearly enough Kimeti in the area. It didn't bother him normally, but this stretch of seeing no one had gone on much longer then is normal.
So long had it been that he'd started talking to animals and even himself just to hear a voice. That had been the last straw, the deciding factor that he needed to go find someone. "Before you go crazy." he tells himself. Then sighs. "Doing it again, are we." Followed by another sigh. "This has got to stop. I said stop. Stop it! Right now!" He growls in irritation at himself. Then smiles when he doesn't speak again.
"See? That's better." This time he stops walking, frowning at himself. "This has got to stop! If I keep this up, eventually I'll go crazy." With yet another sigh, Dahlia resumes walking. "I won't find anyone standing her talking to myself."

Laughing Shadows had wandered for some time when she finally thought she heard the voice of another. As it grew louder and she realized they were heading inland while she headed to shore, she laughed just a little to herself. It seemed to much a coincidence that two kimeti had decided to head in opposite directions to come so close to meeting one another that they would have passed each other by had he not spoke out loud. The fact that he was speaking, though, made her curious as to who he was with. Was there another kimeti with him? Perhaps another doe - or maybe even two bucks!
Her interested fully piqued, the young doe angled herself so that she might cross the path of the newcomers. Not far had she gone when she called out, to alert them of her presence that she might not scare them away. "Hello out there!" Smiling to herself, just a little, she sat down to wait and see if they would respond. If they did and didn't seem angry at her presence, she would approach. Should they be angry, though, she still had enough distance she could make a run for it and probably get away safely.

Hearing a voice that's not his own, Dahlia stops and looks around. "Hello?" he calls back, searching the area for the speaker. He can't see the the other, though, and starts off again. He keeps his eyes peeled, not wanting to miss who ever had called out. It's not long before he sees her, a pretty gray doe. "There you are. Are you looking for friends, too?" he asks, hoping very much that the answer would be yes.

The young doe's head tilted slightly at the sight of just one newcomer approaching and not two as she had suspected due to the sounds of someone talking to another. But that confusion passed quickly as her glowing eyes took in the beautiful pinks of the buck before her. For all that he seemed not quite all there, he was at least nice to look at. That thought made her smile as she nodded her head, "I'm Laughing Shadows and yes, I'm looking to make new friends." Slowly the doe stood up to all fours and moved towards the buck, obviously intrigued at his presence, "How about you?"
Though she was fairly certain that the fact he had asked her if she was looking for friends must mean that he wanted to find new friends too, she wasn't entirely certain that was what he'd meant. Perhaps he had been looking for his old friends, or maybe they were playing hide and seek? That would certainly explain why she couldn't see whoever he had been talking to. And would mean that he wasn't missing a couple links like she had thought originally. But Laughing Shadows was too polite to ask if he was nuts or not, so she simply stood looking at him appreciatively as she awaited his name.

Dahlia nods, both at her name and returned question. "I'm Dahlia, and yes I'm also looking for friends." He catches himself looking the doe up and down. Causally he looks elsewhere, not wanting to seem rude by staring. "And other things, too." He says, eyes catching on a flower he'd never seen before. "Home is fun, but the same things all the time can get boring." Dahlia nods over at the flower. "Seen one like it before?"

A small smile touches the doe's face as she recognizes the look up and down her body and she stretches just a little as he looks away to say she didn't mind at all. If anything, she enjoyed it as she would with any buck. Flirting was a fun game to her and so she casually strolled around the buck in a circuitous path to the flower he gestured towards, taking her time as she does so to make sure he has plenty of time to look if he wants as she struts to the flower.
With a gentle murmur she shakes her head, her eyelids drifting downward to give her that half-lidded look as she glances up at him as she sniffs the flower, "No, I haven't seen one like this before." She raises her head and tilts it, another sultry smile appearing on her face as she inquires, "Have you?" Though she wants to ask what else he might be looking for, she doesn't ask. Its too soon in the game for that, anyway, and Laughing Shadows is rather enjoying herself. Languidly she allows her head to drift back down towards the flower, smelling it once again, slowly, to give the buck time to draw nearer if he desires to. That would at least give her a hint as to his intentions - and if she should spend more time flirting with him or not. His brilliant pink pattern was certainly pleasant to look at, so it wasn't a waste of her time either way in the end.

His eyes track her as she moves, even though his brain is scream at him to stop being so rude. Obviously she like it. a small part of his mind whispers. Or she'd tell you to stop. This reasoning brings more thoughts into his mind. Is Laughing Shadows after just friends, or someone more? Does he care? No. the little voice says. Dahlia hadn't gone looking for romance, or flings, or any of that. He was just out looking for a friend. Though it seems Laughing Shadows may want moor. Something he wouldn't mind giving her.
He takes a few steps closer to her, just to stop dead with a sick feeling in his belly. He's got no idea what to do. Dahlia hadn't seen a female since he was a colt. And back then it was games, not flirting, on his mind. Taking a deep breath, Dahlia closes his eyes and forces the panic down. Opening them again, he gives her a crooked smile. "No, not that I remember." There, that wasn't so bad. his mind pipes up. Just keep calm and everything'll be just fine. Dahlia could only hope.

Laughing Shadows enjoys the attention she receives from the buck, mildly amused by his reaction to her and her behavior. His subtle responses, however, don't really tell her what she was hoping they would and the way he shuts his eyes after he moves closer sends her the signal he is truly just looking for friends. Of course, as a flirty doe she really can't help but flirt with him even though she really has nothing on her mind past friendship at the moment anyway. Well, that and admiring his colors - but that was something the young doe would do with a handsome buck even from a distance.
With one last sniff for the flower, she returns his crooked smile with a pleasant one of her own before lightly dancing a few steps back. The only signal that she's still amused is the flick of her tail that gives her away as she sits her haunches on the ground beneath her. Her glowing eyes glance again at the flower as her shoulders rise in a shrug and she sighs, "I wish I knew what it was." Which was the truth, but was also to buy her time as she tried to figure out what else to say to the buck she'd just met.
In an effort to strike up a conversation, she turns another smile on him, "So what sort of things do you usually do while you wander by yourself?"

Dahlia considers her question, aware for the first time that he doesn't actually do much. "I listen to the waves. Sometimes I hunt, but mostly I just look and listen to what's around me." He's grateful for his pink coat now, surely she can't see his blush. Such a boring life she must think he has. "What about you?"

Laughing Shadows couldn't help it as her smile grew just a little more when he mentioned what he usually did while off wandering by himself. Truth be told, both things sounded more like something one would enjoy with someone else better than alone in her mind. But then, she knew Kimeti were all different and some preferred alone time more than group time. Her head tilted curiously as she thought that over, missing the darkening in his already pink coat, before her ears perked at his question.
Her head tilted slightly to the other side and she smiled, "There are many things I enjoy doing while I wander. I like to listen to the birds in the trees, look for new Kimeti to play with, play games..." She trailed off, not wanting to mention that she also would search the shadows for mocking voices and things of that nature. Things like that weren't meant for a passing conversation anyway.
Instead, she turned another question his way, "Wouldn't you rather hunt with someone at your side?" She was curious, if nothing else. He had to give her that.

Dahlia listens to her answer, nodding in agreement. Her next question throws him off, he'd never considered it before. "I don't know. I've never done so. Though, I suppose it would make the hunt easier." He shrugs, giving it no more thought and sending her another question. "What sort of games?" He asks, a twinkle in his eye and slight playfulness on games hinting at a double meaning.
