Kali twirled fiery red locks around her fingers as she leaned against the wall, staring at the ground and wondering why she was here.
Well, technically, she knew why she was here. She was meeting Lance. She just didn't know why she had decided to come.
She wasn't even sure who had proposed the idea. Had she? Or had he?
Was this a date?

Frowning, she stopped twirling her hair, her gaze glassing over. She wouldn't entirely mind if it was a date...He was cute. And they teased each other enough when they saw each other for it to make sense. But...was Lance the kind of boy she wanted a relationship with, no matter how small? He was a flirt. And a womanizer. Which was nowhere near as bad as his roommate, who was not only a womanizer but a mananizer. Was that even a word?
Whatever. Charlie liked d**k, too. Which Kali didn't mind at all, it just made Charlie double the manwhore that Lance was.
She realized that this was all very hypocritical of her. Who was she, of all people, to criticise a bit of harmless flirting and teasing? Chuckling to herself, she shook her head and leaned back.

That damn boy had better, she thought, show up soon.

Lance McCoy was going out on a date.

For most people, this wouldn't have been at all strange; dates were a regular occurrence with most young people, after all. However, Lance wasn't someone who dated often. No, he was the type of person who had the habit of participating in some one-night stands. Actually, a lot of one-night stands. Normally, either he or the girl would be gone the next morning, and they'd most likely never see each other again unless they happened to run into each other again at the same party, which rarely happened.
Regardless, Lance was on a date now - at least, he thought it was a date. After all the teasing and flirting that went on between him and Kali, the Gothic boy figured that it would be safe to assume that this was, in fact, a date of sorts. Would it go any further than that? The boy wasn't sure. He wasn't exactly known for getting into relationships; he was only slightly below Charlie on the manwhore scale, and that was only because Charlie banged both guys AND girls. His friend normally didn't give a crap about gender, unless he was having a 'craving', as the redhead called it.

Lance pushed those thoughts out of his mind however as he drew closer to the spot where he was to meet Kali; a diner on Spadina Avenue, and sure enough, the girl was waiting for him there. A grin spread across his face as he plodded over and soon, he was standing right next to her.

"Hey. You been waiting long?"

"Didn't anybody teach you to be on time?" She replied, avoiding the question. Even if she had been there for a while, she didn't really mind. The grin she shot at him probably gave that away.
"If you took any longer the diner would be closed, and then you wouldn't be able to buy me that dinner you owe me." She grinned, leaning in closer for a moment. "I trust you're buying, mmhmm?"

A ways away, Katia crouched in the bushes, dark classes covering her bright blue eyes, and a black hat on her head.
Eyes narrowed, she peered out at Kali and that...boy. Frowning, she ducked down when she thought they might look her direction, and stared at them through the leaves.
"Lance McCoy..." She muttered, glaring. beside her, Luka chirrupped quietly, and she shushed him.
They both liked Lance, of course. To an extent. Not, Katia thought, to THIS extent. She had heard Kali talking on the phone with her friend, Lena. Lance was a man whore. And while it had taken Katia a while to find out what that was, exactly, she knew now, and there was no way she was letting something like that around her cousin!

This date...this date had to stop. And that was where she and Luka came in.

"Not really, no." The only thing that his Dad had taught him to do was drink; a useful skill, but it didn't really help him during dates, unless they were going to a bar. However, they were both underage and Lance didn't have his fake ID, so that was obviously out of the question.
So, the diner it was then.

"'Course I am - what do I owe you for again though?" Lance grinned to the redhead, moving back a little should she try to hit him or something of the like. "We SHOULD hurry up though if you wanna eat; I'm pretty starved myself." And he wasn't short on money, thanks to a gig that he and Charlie had done just the night before. It seemed like it'd be a good night, hopefully.

"You just do." She said, reaching out her hand. Rather than slap him, however, she trailed her fingertips along his cheek as she turned and walked into the diner, hips swaying gently. She found a table easily and sat down, accepting the menu and looking down at it. She chose something fairly inexpensive; a milkshake and fries, before looking up at Lance.
"So, you mentioned you were in a band." She smiled. "Do you guys play gigs?"

Katia nearly crushed the pencil she had brought to mark everything down. They were going inside! Damn. She had to find a window.

"Luka, quick. I need you to find a window...okay?" she whispered, and the litte shadow squeaked, darting out of the bushes. He seemed to understand the need for secrecy, and kept to the shadows, often using his strange 'melty' ability to blend in better.

Good God she was a tease.

Lance couldn't keep his eyes from following Kali's hips as she strode past him, a small grin making its way over his face. That girl knew how to work it, even when she wasn't trying to. The gothic boy quickly followed her into the diner, hands shoved into the pockets of his jeans; he only took them out after he was brought a menu to look at.
"Yeah; had one just last night, actually." he told her after he'd ordered a burger and a coke. "I'm on guitar and Charlie does our drums. We've got a few other people too, obviously." The drinks were brought before their food was, and Lance was too spinning his straw around in his cup. "We've got another one on Saturday; you should come out and see." Though, he had to wonder if she even liked their kind of music; it tended to be a bit on the heavy side."And you do magic, right...? How's that going for you?"

"It's going fairly well. I'm studying on my own, right now, because my teacher kind of left town." She wasn't exactly sure where he had gone, but she wasn't complaining. Zak was an a*****e, and she preferred him gone to being here. She didn't need him terribly anymore anyways. She had learned not to explode people's heads when she got mad, and that had been the point, really.

"I think I might come out on Saturday." She smiled into her shake. "Just let me know where and when. I don't need to watch Katia that day. And hey, if all goes well, we might be able to...celebrate, after." She set her drink down and looked around. She could have sworn she'd spotted a Shadow in the window...but there was nothing there now.

Luka ducked down, shivering as he waited for the inevitable yelling. But it didn't come. Apparently, Kali hadn't noticed. Katia was beyond thankful, crouching down to hide beneath the sill. If Kali caught them before they could form a plan and put it in motion, they'd be hard pressed to lie about what they were doing, and stay around long enough to actually get something done...

"Left town? Why'd he do that?" Lance asked, pausing in the spinning of his straw. He didn't know much about how the magic world worked, but he knew that a regular teacher wouldn't have been able to get away with that. "Don't you need him? Not to say that you're bad or anything, but don't you need a teacher in order to learn new spells, or something like that?"

The black-haired boy grinned slightly, pleased by that answer. "It's at the Coyote at 6 'o clock. The band's called 'Body Contact', and there should be a poster of us up in the window." The last bit made the smile on his face grow even wider. Celebrate, eh? Well, he certainly wouldn't complain when it came to that. He was always up for a little 'celebrating'. "Celebrating, eh? Sounds like fun."

"What's wrong?" Lance glanced over in the direction that Kali was looking in, wondering what had caught her attention? Something at the window? He hadn't seen anything. "You see something?"

"Oh, I do need him." She frowned, snorting. "But he has better things to do. It's a nice break though. He's quite the a*****e." She slipped a small gel-pen from her pocket, scrawling on her arm as she replied to Lance's questions. Cyote, at six.
All the while, she had one eye trained on the window. There had to have been something there...

"I thought I did. Don't look. If someone is there, they'll know we're watching." She said as she capped the pen and slipped it into her pocket again. "Is this right?" She leaned across the table and offered Lance her arm, smiling.

Katia counted slowly to ten, before poking her head up to peer inside. What she saw was Lance, leaning over Kali's arm, face directed at the chest she was inadvertantly showing him along with her wrists. Fury twisted her tiny face, and she dropped back down to hiss at Luka.
But not before Kali saw her.

"...this is going to sound a bit strange...but my cousin is in the window. And I think she hates you." Goodness, why had she been so angry? And what the hell was she doing here??
She could have gone and asked, but Kali was a curious creature. If Katia was sneaking around, she obviously didn't want anyone to know. And if she didn't want anyone to know, then she clearly wasn't going to just up and tell her if she asked.
If Kali wanted to know what was going on, she would have to let the plot, whatever it was, run it's course.

Below the window, Katia fumed. It was almost too late! She was going to have to act fast if she wanted to stop him. He was already worming his way in. Damn it all! She gestured for Luka to come closer, and ducked her head against his, whispering.

"Luka. I need you to be super sneaky." She pointed at the restaurant, through the window and toward Lance. "I need you to sneak in there, and take that boy's wallet. Okay?"

Luka blinked. His wallet? The leather thing that he wasn't supposed to chew on?
He beamed. He was allowed now! Nodding, he melted into Katia's shadow, slipped up the wall, and through the window.

"So it's like summer vacation for you." Lance grinned slightly. "Only it's not summer." The boy wondered if he'd ever get the pleasure (or lack thereof) of meeting Kali's teacher. He had to admit, he was a little curious, despite what Kali had said about him being an a*****e.

The gothic boy nodded, making sure to keep himself facing Kali, though he had to wonder who the hell would be following them. For a moment, Lance wondered if it could have been someone that he'd pissed off, but quickly dismissed that; he'd never done anything bad enough to warrant someone stalking him. Other than have a lot of sex. He tended to do that quite a bit, though he hadn't done so it a while. It was strange.
"Yeah, that's it." The black-haired boy couldn't keep himself from getting a quick look at her chest before sitting back down in his chair. "I might be able to get you a pass or something; then you'd be able to skip the line."

"...Katia?" Lance raised an eyebrow slightly. They were being followed by the little kid. Why? "Why would she hate me?" He frowned, trying to recall if he'd done anything to warrant the little girl's anger - he couldn't think of anything, currently. He was tempted to look over his shoulder, but refrained from doing so.

"I have no idea. But I want to find out. Play like you don't know." She beamed at him, and sat back down.
"A pass would be great. I hate lines." She smiled, laughing a bit. "I'm not what you would call patient."

She was focused on the windows, and the door, and thus didn't notice Luka slithering across the floor, hopping from shadow to shadow. He rose from Lance's, stopping beneath the boy's chair, and peering up. Wallet. Wallets were the yummy things Viktor kept in his pockets and he wasn't allowed to eat. The pockets in the back.
He poked his head up at the back of the chair and saw it poking out. Inching forward, he very carefully slipped his lips around it. Super sneaky, Katia had said. So, like taking the remote while Viktor had it. Slowly, and while he was distracted, Luka tugged the wallet from Lance's pocket. Then, finally, it came free. He swallowed it in one gulp, and dropped into his shadow again. Across the room, and out the window, into Katia's lap. He chirruped when he became solid again, beaming as Katia hugged him.

"Good boy, Luka! Now, let's get a better window..." Perhaps the one closer to Kali and Lance. She couldn't hear what they were saying, and couldn't hang in the window to read their lips.

Lance nodded slightly and did as instructed, despite wanting to go outside to bust up whatever it was that she was planning. He just hoped that whatever it was wouldn't ruin their night - this was the first actual date that he'd been on in a while, and he'd get more than a little irritated if it got screwed up, understandably.

"Well, it shouldn't be too hard; I think the owner actually said that he'd give us a few in case we had friends that wanted to come." The black-haired boy grinned. "And they'd be up at the front too, I think." He wondered if he'd be able to get away with pulling Kali up onto the stage - that would make for a fun show. He was thinking about this so much that he didn't notice the shadow that had taken his wallet and eaten it.
And he probably wouldn't until it was too late.

Unfortunately for Lance, it would ruin their night. At least, it would ruin part of it. Kali was nothing if not stubborn, and she would not let this end her date with Lance.

"Hm, front row seats. Don't I feel special." She smiled back at him, coy. "Does this mean we're friends, then?" She was ignoring Katia completely, and doing it rather well. Maybe, she thought, she was only watching them. Maybe she was mad at Kali, and not Lance. Maybe, maybe...

"Here's your bill." Said the waitress, leaning over Lance's shoulder with a flirty smile to set the piece of paper face down by his plate. She quickly cleaned away the remains of their meal, sashaying away into the kitchen.

Katia had found a better vantage point, definitely. She was currently crouched behind a display in the entrance way. Now, she'd get to see what Lance did when he went to pay the cash she crouched by, and found his wallet was missing. Maybe they'd make him wash dishes. Oh, she hoped they would...
PostPosted: Mon Oct 25, 2010 9:40 am

"Define 'friends'." Lance replied with a slight smirk as he leaned against his elbows on the table. He most certainly wanted to be MORE than friends.
He noticed the way the waitress flirted with him upon handing him the bill and was tempted to flirt right back - however, he refrained for once in his life. He was on a date with Kali, and that meant no shameless flirting for him today. He had to be a good boy, which meant that he'd have to pay the bill and leave it at that.

Upon reaching back into his pocket, however, the gothic teen found that something vitally important was missing. His wallet.
His wallet was GONE. "s**t." he hissed between clenched teeth. "Where is it...?" He KNEW that he'd brought it along with him. It had been in his pocket, he swore! Had someone taken it?? "My wallet's gone..." He didn't say that loud enough for anyone but Kali to hear. He didn't WANT anyone else to hear, really.

Kali eyed the waitress as she sashayed herself into the kitchen, wondering if she could hit her with a curse from here. Not for any particular reason, though. She just deserved to be cursed. For...breathing. Yeah. Breathing.
"Friends get passes." She laughed at him, gathering her things. She stopped, though, when Lance whispered that he didn't have his wallet.

"Gone..? But nobody's come by...they couldn't have taken it..." She would have seen. "Did you lose it? Drop it, maybe-" She stopped halfway through that thought, noticing something rustling in the flower display by the door. Silvery blonde hair, and a dark shape that could only be Luka.
Which explained everything. Luka could have taken it easily.
Now, logic said she should have gone over there and snatched it back. But Kali wasn't a creature of logic. She was stubborn. And she refused to make a scene, or let this ruin her date in anyway.
Sitting down, she pursed her lips, and summoned magic to her hands. A slight flash, and suddenly a pile of money appeared on the table in front of Lance.
"Use that. Don't worry. We'll find your wallet, I promise." She smiled at him, standing and squeezing his shoulder. There was no need to tell him what she knew; he wouldn't understand what she wanted to do, and would probably go and take it from them like a normal person would.

If Katia wanted to play games, she was so on. She had definitely not chosen a good person to play them on. Kali not only had ten years on her cousin, she also had magic.

And, yes, for the record, creating illusionary money that would disappear once they put it in the till was probably illegal. Not that she cared.
