College was intimidating.

Sometimes, Eve wondered if she should have went to Sovereign Heights, or as everyone affectionately dubbed as Shlip, because at first, she had no idea of what she wanted to major in. Still, she had put in her application to major in Business, although she wondered if it would turn out to be a wrong choice. She had chosen it because she thought that perhaps she could one day run a cafe, but wouldn't it be a job that got boring over time? She wanted something to hold her interest, to be exhilarating! Almost like how her side job as a Senshi was, but less dangerous.

Much less dangerous.

The scar around her thigh from the electric jellyfish youma still made her wince whenever she looked at it and she wished that it would fade away as soon as possible. She had even scanned her mother's grocery list when Mrs Summers said she wanted to make sushi, to make sure that there was no jellyfish. "It makes my stomach squirm." She explained, and then ran out before her mother could protest, to buy the ingredients.

The weather had been getting pretty cold lately, and on the way, Eve slipped into the store of a gas station; perhaps she could pick up some things here on the grocery list.

Pfft. School.

That was one thing Nathan Darrow was glad he didn't have to bother with. He had dropped out some time in high school, and had never looked back. Save to pick fights or bully kids out of their money, as the school grounds had always been a good place for that. But moving to Destiny City, things were different, and he hadn't even bothered familiarizing himself with the schools.

And certainly hadn't looked at the college, though he knew his father wanted him to complete something. And because of that, Nate refused. If someone wanted him to do something, chances were high that he would spitefully not do it.

Except the Senshi thing, he guessed. Maybe. Whatever.

Today, Nathan was putting some gas into the junk car Tony had bought at some second hand place. Why the man had picked this car was a mystery to Nate, as it was ugly and didn't run great, and was an embarrassment to drive around in. But it was still better than walking. Handing the guy at the counter some bills Nate had 'found' in Tony's wallet, which was fair because it was Tony's car so he should pay for the gas, he made his way back towards the door.

And promptly bumped into someone.

"Hey, watch it," he said grumpily, immediately blaming the other person before he had even glanced to see who it was, or what they were doing.

"Sorry!" Eve said instinctively as she was bumped into although it wasn't really her fault. Sure, she had been staring at her grocery list and was lost in thought as she regarded the items one by one... But the boy should have apologized too and blue eyes flashed at him momentarily before she shrugged it off. It wasn't as if she hadn't encountered grumpy people before... in fact, she seemed to have a knack for attracting such people like bees to honey. It was something she had gotten used to.

She would have moved on and not bothered about the incident entirely, but someone outside the store screamed, right after a deafening roar reached their ears. Eve stole a glance out and froze upon catching sight of a lion youma with a mane of blazing fire, just across the road from the gas station. Great, she thought. First an electric jellyfish, now a fire lion. Just great, Negaverse. Still, it was awfully dangerous to have it lurking so near the gas station, and Eve figured that she would distract and lure it away first before taking it down.

"Excuse me." She wormed her way towards the cashier, who was starting to look panicked at this turn of events. "Is there a bathroom here?" When he nodded and pointed her in the direction and then started calling the fire department, Eve rushed off and soon, Sailor Flora emerged from the cubicles, running towards where the youma was situated.

Nathan was about to bully her into paying for a drink he hadn't even dropped, but he was distracted by a loud scream. Whoever it was, they needed to lay off the coffee. Who screamed like that in public? Of course, he had other instincts than the ones that told him to get instantly annoyed at the sound of terror.

Like the instinct that had somehow been awakened in him when he had become a senshi: the one that told him someone was in trouble, and he had to do something about it. Preferable to put them out of that danger.

Though, he had a bad habit of doing more damage than good...

He turned to look and easily spot the source. Giant, fire maned lion. That made sense. It wasn't the oddest youma he had seen so far, but it was certainly the most unfortunately placed: all that fire near the gas tanks? They had a big problem on their hands, though he had no idea he had 'help' for this one.

He saw the girl go off to the bathroom after seeing a lion with fire curling off of it. Really?

"What did you do, piss yourself?!" he yelled after her, but he let her go: he had other things to think about. He ran off, presumably to flee the area like any sane human being, but actually he just wanted to find a hiding place so he could power up.

Because what this situation really needed was the Senshi of Danger to try and 'fix' things.

He ran around the other side of the building so he didn't come out of the same place he had run into and, ironically, managed to run right into Sailor Flora.

If Eve wasn't in such a hurry, she would have whipped around and yelled back at the rude boy; she did not piss her pants, thank you very much! She had seen enough of these creatures to be used to their presence, although she certainly wasn't used to their varying powers. Still, she had bitten her tongue, and now Sailor Flora had a more worrying priority on her hands.

And of course, she had to run right into someone else again, but when she stepped back to stare, she was relieved to see that it was a senshi. "Oh good." She breathed. She might have powered up to be a super, but she did need help; other than luring it away, she then had no idea how to take it down, unless she held its attention long enough until the firemen came. Would normal water even work against that? "What can you do?"

Chaonis looked at the senshi he had bumped into, noting that she seemed to be different than the ones he was used to seeing. But he attributed it to her being girly and not the fact that she was stronger. He had missed that lesson, if there had been one, on powering up and all that.

To be fair, he was a terrible student, and rarely took notes on anything.

"What can I do?" he echoed with a scoff. More than she could, he was sure! He brought his fists up. "Kick some a**, that's what." His attack was a full out brawl, using his fists and feet to punch and kick at an opponent with added strength when he called out his attack. There was a catch, of course, but he didn't really like spelling it out for people.

It made him look weak.

His attack came with a random end time that he couldn't control or predict, and when that happened all the energy he had been collecting to power his punches would expend itself and destroy whatever was around. Usually it felt like an earthquake of varying strengths, but he couldn't control that, either.

"What can you do?"

A terrible student in Flora's opinion was Neso; even though she loved him, she wished he could take his career as a senshi more seriously. Neso didn't seem to want to fight. At least this senshi seemed enthusiastic about it, but Flora couldn't imagine the senshi of summer being so excited about violence.

She didn't know if Chaonis was referring to his boost in physical power as a senshi, or that his power was an offensive one. Either way, it worked, since she wasn't much of a hard hitting senshi.

"Distraction, although it sometimes has effects of poisoning." She offered, keeping a sharp eye on the youma in case it came any closer to the gas station.
PostPosted: Tue Oct 19, 2010 1:11 pm

Chaonis shook his head, shrugging indifferently. He wasn't sure what use he'd have for distraction, but if she wanted to be bait he imagined he could work with that. He grinned.

"Alright, how about you use whatever it is your power is to get that lion away from those tanks?" he asked. Kind of. More a direction than a request, if not an order.

He didn't mind though, even though he was talking to someone stronger than him. He was oblivious as always, and ready to charge on in.

The lion, meanwhile, didn't seem to want to wait. It was moving toward them, drawn to them, and attacking any one or any thing that got in its way. That included the scenery, support structures to the overhang, and the tanks themselves.

It didn't seem aware that it was liable to make everything explode.

"Yeah." She agreed. Flora didn't really care if he was giving her orders; she was really more focused on the dangerous situation at hand. Besides, she had unwavering faith in senshi she met, since they were all on the same side. Which meant that they had to stick together!

It's like the youma's on a suicide mission. She mused as she ran towards it. But why? The Negaverse would have no use for starseeds which resided in blown up bodies. Or maybe the youma was just pretty dumb. And a dumb youma she could handle. "Hey Mr Fire Lion!" Super Sailor Flora yelled, waving her hands in it's direction. "Wouldn't you like to burn up a senshi instead?" At this, she directed her pollen attack at it's muzzle, using her regular, milder one just for distraction purposes. "Flora Pollen Fever!"

Hopefully that would anger it enough to follow her... while she was running in the opposite direction of the gas station.

Sailor Chaonis nodded his head, grinning a bit. Ah, the thrill of battle always got him going. Particularly when it wasn't a battle that had surprised him, or had started off badly. He had even footing, maybe even an advantage, and a teammate to help him out. This fight had to go right.

Of course, the classic mistake was thinking 'what could go wrong', and not following through with an answer.

He watched as she ran toward the lion, nodding his head in approval. At least she was brave. He liked that, at least, and smirked a bit. He ran in a different direction, hoping to get behind the beast, or at least at its side, while it was distracted by the pollen.

"Warning! Fisticuffs ahead!" he yelled, though using that attack in a place like this was probably just as dangerous as a flaming lion. He wasn't really thinking about that, though, caught up in the rush of a good fight. He ran at the thing, leaping at it and swinging his fist to punch it right in the flank. And hopefully not get burned in the process.

Bravery was an essential component for a Senshi to survive, and something they learned along the way. Privately, Flora thought that she had been conditioned to throw her fears out of the window and be more daring than before she had been awakened.

But when you were distracting a youma with a mane of fire, who could say you weren't brave?

Luckily for Chaonis, the only part of the youma that was burning was the mane and the tail, and it roared in disapproval at the pain. It's head was furiously shaking however, in an attempt to swat away the pollen, although Flora was still determinedly keeping it near it's nose.

"You think we can um, blow up a fire hydrant to douse it?" Flora yelled to her fellow senshi over the furious roaring of the youma, as it blindly swatted at the air with its paw.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 12, 2010 10:25 am

Chaonis watched the lion as it batted at the air and swung its head around, bouncing back to avoid the flames of its mane as it tossed its head from side to side in frustration. He grinned, knowing he had hurt it, but he could also see that brute strength was not going to be enough to topple it.

Which sucked because brute strength was what he was best at.

"Fire hydrant? You got it," He grinned, very much a fan of this idea. It seemed once he got into the swing of a fight, he forgot his 'piss everyone around me off' attitude and just focused on the work at hand: there was a monster that needed killing, and Flora was there to help him do it. Of course, that didn't mean he couldn't have fun while doing it.

"We'll get it to follow us over there," he said, pointing to the street, where a fire hydrant was waiting. There were other water pumps and emergency water areas, but they were all closer to the gas pumps and would thus defeat the point.

He moved, running to see if the lion was interested in chasing two very yummy looking senshi.

"Come on, Mufasa! This way!"

Of course, blowing up a fire hydrant was pretty much encouraging people to think of them as terrorists. But what was best? Letting a fire youma go dangerously close to triggering an explosion or have everything wet? The latter was definitely the lesser of the two evils; the only consequence to deal with was to patch up the fire hydrant and wait for what had gotten drenched to dry off.

"Alright." She replied with a nod, spurting the last of her pollen attack at the lion youma as the glow on her brooch dissipated. The youma growled, leaping after the both of them. It was really quite predictable; youma always were more interesting in chasing down senshi than anything else. It was something to be thankful about.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 15, 2010 10:21 am

Chaonis hooted, clearly finding that being chased by a lion that was made of fire and probable human death was the most exciting thing he had done that day. Or maybe that week. Hell, it topped his list for the month. Maybe. Well, it was certainly high on the list. He grinned, jogging toward the fire hydrant and making sure his surprisingly fun partner was close behind.

"What do you think he'll look like with his flames out? A drowned rat?" He called, skidding to a stop at the hydrant.

They had to wait for the beast to come at them, so they didn't miss with the powerful stream. He waited, fist ready, to hit the release on the side and free the pressurized water. Thinking his aim was good, he decided the youma was close enough and, since his attack was still in affect, punched the metal fire hydrant. Which resulted in a clang and a very sore hand.

His attack had ended inconveniently, and now they had to deal with it expending the energy it had built up. The ground shook violently and a nearby streetlamp fell over, toward them, a crack opening up in the ground. It also impacted the fire hydrant, which burst and sprayed water at the youma.

"Oh hey!" Chaonis said, sounding very surprised. "I totally planned that!"

"He'd look a lot better than he does now." Flora called back, keeping an eye on the youma. Was that smoke billowing out of his nostrils just her imagination of the lion signifying the frustration of having to deal with two senshi? It didn't really matter, because the water spurted out, right into it's face at that moment, and Flora laughed, stepping backwards as some of the spray got onto her as well.

"Nice!" She told Chaonis appreciatively. Unfortunately, even though it seemed as though the fire mane was going out, giving its last few desperate flickers under the soaking stream, the rest of the youma didn't melt as well. It rather reminded her of when she combined her attack with Alcyone to provide acid rain and caused a plant youma to burst into dust. "Part Two: Defeating Soaked Angry Lion, commencing soon?"
