Evenings were the nicest part of the day.

It meant that she had finished all her school work and piano practice and could relax before the darkness descended upon them all, which signified time for patrolling. Admittedly, she didn't patrol as much these days, not when the Opal Crystal was still missing, but night time still felt like senshi time, felt like when Princess Chronos would take over with her own worries and leave Serenade Soriano in the shadows. But, Serenade thought, both Chronos and her problems were melded together and it was difficult to tell them apart. Was there even any way to tell them apart?

She had taken to sitting on the tree branch outside her window these days, although since Eve had found her and expressed her horror, Serenade had tried not to do that lest someone she knew found her again and became worried. She didn't want to cause anyone worry, not anymore. It was terribly hard to be a useless Princess.

Instead, she comforted herself by strolling about in the Crystal gardens. It was nearing autumn, and the tree leaves were beginning to turn a beautiful shade of orange. It had been about two years, she realized with a start. Two years since she had been first awakened. Two years since her life started falling like the leaves from the trees now.

There was another Princess in the gardens that evening, though her purpose for being there was less motivated by worrying others as it was saving her own pale skin from disaster. It wasn't hard to get into the grounds of Crystal Academy, if you knew what you were doing and looked the part; thanks to her time as Blanche Williams, Coralie looked the part. The same locket and bracelet that were a part of her everyday wear had been topped by a thin cream cardigan over a softly-patterned gold tank top and chocolate slacks. Yes, she was fifteen going on thirty, the mature look at odds with the strange and childish rabbit odango adorning the crown of her skull; Allie would never take them down though. Ever.

She'd been in Destiny City almost a year now, nine months or so by this point. At least, as she could remember it. Perhaps they'd been in the city a bit longer but her grief had erased any memories. Certainly Chibiusa hadn't been comfortable enough in her adult body or her bereaved state of mind to leave Ray's home for what seemed like weeks after she'd entered it for the first time. Now it was fall, Ray was gone, her body was gone, but the grief remained. Not far from here she'd helped with the theft of her cousin's Crystal. Her power, stolen by Wiseman with her as fait accompli. It was that which was keeping her out of the school proper and on the grounds, half-hidden beneath a low-hanging tree as she stared up into the windows of the upper-class.

Things had been patched gratefully and with the utmost adoration towards Sailor Pegasus, and a warmer welcome couldn't be expected from anyone. But then, Helios had been in her dreams as Black Lady, had seen that the girl there was not so very different than the one they'd always known. Chronos hadn't seen her but for that brief moment, and had never met the Princess of Crystal Tokyo before. Had never known that Serenity and Endymion had a child, and that child was now here by some twist of fate and magic. How did you patch things up with someone you didn't know?

The shuffle of dried leaves on the ground alerted the young teen that someone was coming and for a moment, Coralie had the urge to flee blanket her with its panic. It was that initial instinct to run that actually had her holding her ground, stepping around the tree to fully be on the path with a smile. "Oh! I didn't know someone else was here, I'm sorry." Not really. Not quite.

It had been one year since Barren Pines, Serenade thought. It had seemed so peaceful at the start, and part of her thought that she had been content with how normal it was, having no responsibilities to save the world from evil forces. Of course, nothing about the school was normal; it only gave her a temporary respite before dropping her back into the insanity of it all. There had been a time where she had accepted it and told herself not ever to forget. Now, she wasn't so sure if she was still the same girl who had so resolutely made that decision.

"It's okay." Serenade assured the other, startled too by the younger girl's appearance. She had never seen the girl around campus before, but then again, Serenade was horrible at socializing. Besides, she did have this stir of vague familiarity within her upon catching sight of the pink-haired girl. "Autumn is a kind of sad season, isn't it?"

Someone should have warned Serenade Soriano about the power of her eyes. It was first notable to Coralie that they were almost the same color as hers, just a few shades brighter - more pink than red, really. But what was truly drawing to her was the fact that they were almost as sad as she felt her own were, which was not something that was easy at all to accomplish. Something serious would have had to have happened to this girl, to feel like Allie felt.

Drawn out by this, the false bright smile she'd put on for the initial hello faded into something a bit softer and sadder herself. "Yes, it is very sad. I hear people say that winter is the very sad one, but in the fall you watch things die. It's not very pleasant, is it?" Contractions were a new addition to Allie's repertoire and she was still rather cautious about using most of them. The clip to her speech that marked her as foreign was still evident, and probably would be forever, but she was doing better. Much better, in fact!

"Summer is my favorite. Warm, bright, very free. Do you think so?"

Serenade was startled too when her eyes met Coralie's; people in Destiny City whom she knew didn't really have pink eyes. Jude had pink eyes, but they had been a much lighter shade, and this girl's almost matched the pair she saw everyday when she looked into the bathroom mirror at herself. It was uncanny, but it also made her feel, for some odd reason, comfortable with the younger girl, when Serenade was usually awkward with strangers.

"Yes." Witnessing death before your eyes; like how Charonite had mercilessly used her to lure the Zodiacs to him and kill them, was entirely different from experiencing death itself, being in limbo and begging with the Space Cauldron. Both were painful things to go through, and as she watched the seasons go past, she was reminded of her duty, and her experiences as well. "Summer is lovely." She agreed, thinking of Neso's beaming personality. "Spring too. It brings such a new breath of life. Gives you a new beginning to start from."

Spring brought to mind flowers, and how there was always a bright side to everything. There were so many parallels between the seasons and life itself on Earth, something that supposedly her father had been very in-tune with. Certainly things had always been calm in the spring! "And there are many flowers. There are always so many more flowers in the spring!" Stepping closer, Coralie remembered her American manners and held out her bracelet-wrapped hand somewhat awkwardly. For some reason, she almost wanted to hug the strange girl with the sad eyes.

"I am Coralie Williams, it is very nice to meet you." It was still hard to remember that she shouldn't bow, though truth be told it was a curtsy that came more naturally to Allie. After all, she'd spent more time in the court of Crystal Tokyo than the past version of Japan's capital city. "Do you come out here very much?" She'd spent a few evenings now in the serenity of the Crystal gardens, and had yet to run into this particular girl. Or any girl, really.

Still, Serenade thought, she didn't have a season which she hated, and if anyone asked her to rank the seasons according to her preference, she wouldn't be able to decide. She liked all of them because they all were linked together, and she couldn't imagine not liking Flora, Neso, Carpo or Boreas. They all had their different powers, different quirks, but together they were still a team. A team that was part of her just as she was a part of them.

She took Coralie's hand and gave her a warm handshake with a smile. "I'm Serenade Soriano." At the question, she shook her head, remarking quietly. "Not really. I'm usually cooped up, but I figured I would get some fresh air. And you?" Perhaps why she thought Coralie seemed so familiar was because she had seen her around in school.

Amusement crossed through Allie's eyes at the question, the truth spilling from her lips before she could really prevent it. There was a part of her mind, the cautious and mistrusting part of the young teen's mind that was immediately kicking her own a** with the action. But it couldn't be helped! There was something about Serenade Soriano that make you want to tell her all your secrets, because she'd keep them. And help you get past them. "I don't go here. I just like to come up on the grounds when I can get in, because you have very pretty flowers." There were some things, however, that weren't mentioned. Such as the fact that her cousin went to this school, as did her friend. There was no way to say that she had no idea who the cousin is.

Plus, Coralie would never betray Pegasus. If Reanna didn't care to claim the friendship, things would be very awkward and that was not at all what she wanted! No, there couldn't be any awkwardness that might ruin what little acceptance the princess might have within the senshi.

"I guess it is a good thing that you are not...cooped up? What is that?" Polite concern turned into bright curiosity at the slang she'd never heard before, or never quite grasped if she had. There were so many strange words, it was impossible to know them all!

"We do." Serenade agreed with a smile as her gaze swept briefly pas the garden. It was one of the reasons why she liked being in Crystal, the others being that living in a dorm gave her some private time, which Serenade preferred to going out and socializing. Although actually, talking with someone like Coralie was quite nice.

"It means..." The girl hesitated, mulling over the words swimming around in her head and attempted to piece them together in a logical sentence. "Like you are repressed? No, I mean... I usually shut myself in either my dorm room or the piano room." It was funny to say the word repressed, because she had done it of her own choice, and wasn't deliberately trapped by anyone at all. "En retenant." She murmured as something clicked; the french music term made sense in her predicament. "I'm holding myself back."

Another shy smile bloomed across Allie's face, this was something she understood very well. There had been endless days of brooding in bed staring at the wall, poring over the internet in hopes of finding out information about anything, eschewing all contact but with one single person who was no longer around to support her. The list of those sorts of people in her life was slowly growing longer and longer, wasn't that distressing?

"I did that before, when I came here. I did like being in the living room, with my computer. I didn't know much of English. Still do not, I think." Red eyes warmed through with interest at being locked in a piano room, it sounded very much like something Haruka would have done once upon a time. "You play piano? I did want to learn, but didn't have time. I tried to sing once." There was a pause, and a giggle. "I was bad."

"Your English is pretty good." Serenade assured Coralie, and she meant it. Learning another language wasn't easy, she knew, and the only smatter of Italian and French she knew was due to learning music terms, not her heritage. It made her feel guilty, and also why she had always admired Elke for being able to speak so well in different languages.

"Mmhmm." She affirmed. "Since I was a kid." And also, according to her memory, in her past life as well; playing it and experimenting with new tunes while Zue listened. "I like music. It's calming, and takes away your worries."
PostPosted: Sun Nov 07, 2010 10:18 pm

"Books." It was short and then Coralie realized she should probably elaborate on that point. "My English is so good because I read very much. Read and listen, I like to be in busy places. It is very busy here." The wide smile noted that this was probably some sort of sarcastic joke in good nature, though the awkward wording of the whole thing made it fall perhaps just a bit flat.

"I was very confused by a book called Twilight though. It was very easy to read, but I didn't really understand parts of it. It seems very scary to have someone sneaking your room at night." She snuck out at night. It would be very very bad to have someone come out.

"Have you heard of it?"

"Reading is good." Serenade agreed. It definitely made it easier to learn a language you didn't grow up listening to. Distantly, she could remember her parents conversing in rapid Italian, but they were never around enough for her to properly pick the words up. The only reading she herself did on her own accord was mostly reading music scores; the piano player rarely picked up books unless they were for classes.

"It's the apple book cover, isn't it?" She queried, dredging up fleeting glances she had of some Crystal girls carrying the book and talking animatedly about it. "I've heard that it's a love story. With vampires and werewolves. A lot of the girls seem to like arguing over what baseball team they're on or something."
PostPosted: Wed Dec 22, 2010 1:27 am

Nodding, Allie grinned with enthusiasm that Serenade had immediately picked up on what she meant. That was rare in and of itself! "Yes! That is it. I did not understand the love part, Bella said that she was very much in love with Edward, but it made no sense. Is the idea that love makes no sense and makes you dumb? I do not know." An odd shrug as arms reached around behind her to grab elbows in hands and rock back to look up at the evening sky as well. "It is so pretty out here, you are very lucky to live here." Most people knew that some of the Crystal girls were there of their own merits in skill or in academics, but Coralie didn't.

To her, they were all wealthy princesses living on a hill in a fairytale world with the most beautiful gardens she'd seen anywhere in town. It was a serene place that reminded Allie of the quiet gardens of her home, and that was why she came up here every night. It was also perhaps a chance to run into Reanna, and that was not really ever something to be missed, of course. Not that Coralie would ever admit that was a reason for hanging around. That was just pathetic.

"Love does make you do crazy things." Serenade said lightly, but her heart felt heavy as she automatically thought about him and how he had sacrificed himself like that. Perhaps one day she should pick up that book? Or would it make her dwell too much on her previous relationship and make her sink back into depression? It was just a story, Serenade told herself, eyes drifting to the other girl and smiling. And Coralie seemed to be interested in it. It couldn't be that bad! Perhaps she could help explain things that Coralie didn't understand.

"It's alright, I guess. Sometimes it gets a little lonely, but my friends visit me and that's something to look forward to." It was strange, very strange actually, that Serenade seemed to have more friends outside Crystal than she did inside. "Perhaps I should visit them too sometimes. Maybe visit you?"
