Ok, so I'm finally going to be getting my Prizm out of Wisconsin in a few days and I've decided what I want to do to it. I've been digging and I've discovered that the Geo Prizm was essentially a generic Toyta Corolla. The original engine is the Toyota 4A-FE; putting out 100 Horsepower and 95 Torque. So, now I've gone and found out that there was a 20 valve engine in the Toyota 4A family called the 4A-GE ; also know as the Silver Top; putting out 160 Horsepower and 119 Torque. The entire 4A family is the same size from what I've seen.
So, I guess my question is: Should an engine swap like this be very hard for a beginner? I've got access to a full machine shop, if it makes a difference.

Interesting reason to do it. Mille does something like that, autoXing his Saturn. Go for it.

You are better off swapping the car than the motor. JMO though.

I will buy a better car when I can afford one, but as of now I'm low income. This engine will take me a few months to save up for as is. Now, if someone actually has some constructive input, I'd love to hear it.

Want constructive criticism? Save that money and put it toward a car worth doing something with instead of wasting it on a prizm talk2hand

um, anything auto to manual (hard) I think the 20v all came with a six manual...might not fit wiring will be the usual pain. the FWD to FWD isn't bad many custom parts, like half shafts, could even need one off mounts for engine and trans.
I wouldn't recommend it.
the only ones i've seen the 20V go into are the AE86, AW11 or the early MR2, and the two door GT-T FWD AE92 but those had the better 4AGE Twin Cam and going to a 20v wasn't hard...but wasn't a walk in the park, as with a SR swap now a days with a 240sx.
