Maia made her way down the mostly empty streets. It was midnight,he moon way high in the sky, nearly full, and the air had a slight chill to it, which made Maia wish senshi outfits came with winter coats. She looked around strolling toward the mall, where her night patrol would begin. An easy area, with security on the premises, just perfect for Maia to ease her way back into her duties as a Senshi.
She had a plan. She would patrol the mall, first for about an hour, then hit up the park for another hour before her brother swung by to pick her up. It was perfect and Maia just hopped that this night would turn out to be an uneventful one.
Maia rounded a corner and the mall came fully into her view, in all it's glory. An expansive stretch of black topped, whited line parking lot in between her and the shops that held so many treasures. Maia sighed and stepped onto the lot.
"Ready or not Maia," she whispered to herself softly.

Sailor Chaonis was going to start considering the mall part of his 'normal' patrol route, if he was the kind of guy to set up something so structured and actually stick to it. Which he wasn't.
Still, he seemed to end up here a lot, be it by causing trouble for the place himself, or by defending it from youma and other baddies.
Tonight it was actually the latter.
He had felt another presence nearby, and the last time his spine had tingled like this it was because a Negaverser had been nearby. Not yet able to differentiate power levels or signatures, he didn't know he could also feel Senshi. So, thinking he was finally going to catch a bad guy before it managed to kill a human and take their starseed, he went on the hunt.
It brought him here, looking down into the parking lot from the rooftop, and he saw a form standing down there. He grinned, then leaped recklessly from the low roof, using vents sticking out from the side to help him down, before landing in front of the intruder.
Who ended up just being another Senshi.
"Aw, damn it!"

Sailor Maia hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary, although she felt there might be someone else there. She wrote it off however knowing the mall had guards on duty and didn't realize it could be another senshi or worse a negaverser. She walked across the parking lot, keeping her eyes and ears open for danger.
So of course she saw the shadow jumping about the mall and instantly she was on guard. Still when the other landed in front of her she jumped, her body tensing slightly before she realized the other was a senshi.
She heaved a sigh of relief, but rolled her eyes at his choice of greeting. Stepping back Maia eyed the other, who had a very modern uniform, that looked far warmer than her own, despite his mostly bare arm.
"Hello," she said her handing moving off their own accord to straighten her skirt and flatten fix her curls. How she hated to be messy.

Chaonis straightened up and put his hands on his hips for a moment, debating jumping back onto the roof or just sticking around and talking to her. He had nothing else to do now, he supposed, since the bad guy he thought he had been stalking turned out to be a senshi, and a girl to boot. The complete opposite of 'bad guy'.
He shook his head, moving his arms to fold them over his chest.
"Yo," he said, at length, when she said hello. He wasn't in the mood to be too nice though, so he pondered how he might tease her. Not knowing enough about her yet, he just stared at her critically, just sizing her up and seeing if she was one of those that got easily intimidated. He was using his height to his advantage, as best he could.
"What are you doing out here, princess? Isn't it passed your bedtime?" He asked, noting that she seemed to be cold. He didn't have a jacket to offer her, and he wouldn't have offered it anyway. Chivalry was dead, and all that.
In his distraction with her, he didn't notice that they weren't as alone as he thought.

Maia stood there feeling very awkward with the Senshi, who offered no more than she did. He seemed to just stare and for a moment she wondered if he might possible attack her. Not every encounter she had with another senshi had been nice, her short hair reminded her of that daily.
Maia skin prickled at his insensitive words and her eyes narrowed almost instantly. 'Bedtime?!? ... Was he serious? Maia hardly found his words funny in the least.'
She glared at him for a moment before smiling, "You must be new, if you cannot tell one of your own out for a patrol." She sighed before standing up straight, giving her full height even if the boys was still taller.
"I am Sailor Maia," she introduced herself, though she did not bother to give her sphere in the introduction. "You might be ..."
Maia leaned to the side slightly looking behind the other senshi a look of seriousness placed upon her face. "Did you hear that," she asked eyes narrowed peering into the distance.

Chaonis snorted at her response. Apparently she didn't like him implying she wasn't supposed to be out this late. But she did look like she was two, and like she had no idea what she was doing out here in the dark. Or maybe that was just him being bias against her already.
Not that he didn't like her. No, he just liked mocking people, and he was already set on doing it to her.
"New? Maybe, but at least that's my excuse. What's yours? You half jumped out of your skin when I dropped in, so shouldn't you be more aware of your surroundings then that? You're either a newbie like me, or just a really crappy senshi."
At her prompt for his name he grinned, "Sailor Chaonis, Senshi of Danger." He turned to look over his shoulder, though he hadn't seen anything. He thought she was playing a joke on him, so he turned with exaggerated slowness. But when he heard something, too, he switched gears.
"I think we've got company, Sailor Mayan." Yeah, he got her name wrong on purpose.

Maia found the boy more irritating with every passing second. It was ridiculus his rudeness, she really never thought anyone could possibly annoy her more that Castor. That anyone could make her want to explode so quickly. It was infuriating.
She frowned at his stupid insinuation, "No, I am not new, nor am I crappy."
Maia nearly rolled her eyes at his introduction, her patience for incessant noise making drawing her closer to her wits ends. She had to use every once of her will power not to grate her teeth at his butching of her name.
"Yes, I've noticed Salior Chaotic," she ground out wishing she never decided to patrol the mall and knowing she would stir clear of it from now on.
Maia watched as the creature and the shadows moved closer to them. It was approaching slowly and in the current moment could see no eyes meaning it probably wasn't very close to it.

Sailor Chaonis laughed at her attempt to counter his messing up her name. Really? Chaotic was absolutely fitting for the Senshi of Danger, and he didn't doubt that his Senshi name was meant to sound like it. So he could hardly be offended that she noticed it, and it fit so well.
"You haven't seen Chaotic yet, but maybe if this thing's a youma, you'll see soon enough." He grinned.
And of course it was.
As it drew closer to them, the shadows reached out and seemed to move with it. Chaonis couldn't make out its form yet, unsure of what it actually was, but he knew it wasn't good. He wasn't nervous though: youma were just dumb monsters that were usually pretty lame. The last one he had fought in the mall had been a car.
Like a Decepticon maybe? Still lame.
As the monster started to loom over them, though, Chaonis' confidence slipped a bit. It was starting to look like it was a giant shadow, but it was obviously solid from the way the ground shook whenever it stepped.

Maia frowned at the idiotic who stood in front of her. She really couldn't believe he was proud of being chaotic, but she ignored her comment.
Her frowned deepen when she realize the youma was shaking the ground. It was ridiculous and felt like a small earthquake beneath her feet. She hadn't dealt with to many overly large youma and Maia found herself really hoping she could handle it.
A light blink on revealing a lamp post, but otherwise nothing else seemed to be anywhere in sight. Maia frowned at seeing nothing and found her eyes sliding to Chaonis wondering if maybe they had just imagined it.
A moment passed with no movement, then the light blinked off and the earth shaking footsteps returned. Maia continued to frown, but know she was on guard. Her stance shifting and her fist balled tightly. She was ready to defend herself.

Chaonis didn't mind being thought of as an idiot, or a chaotic being, so long as the former was never said to him out loud. He would have to bust some heads if someone teased him, as he worked hard to keep his 'reputation' intact. Whatever reputation he thought he had, anyway.
He watched the shadow tensely, hands balled into fists. He was ready to fight. Growling, he imagined it was going to be some big, bad monster of some kind. Instead, a light blinked on and there was nothing.
Just a lamp post.
"What the hell?"
He was not stupid: he knew a youma was messing with them. He was just not amused by it. The light flicked off and the shadow seemed to draw nearer again. So what? The lamp post was the youma?
"Warning! Fisticuffs ahead!" he yelled, charging into battle headlong, as he was wont to do. No strategy, no thought: he just barreled in and leaped at the shadow, fist flying forward to punch at where the lamp post should have been. Instead, he simply vanished into the shadows.

Maia frowned at the Chaonis' language and then deepen her frown at his ridiculous battle cry before he lept into the shadows. Maia kept her stance, but could not help shaking her head at the obviously new senshi.
Holding out her hand she summoned her phone quickly, turning it one to give her a bit of light before she followed Chaonis more cautiously into the shadows.
"Starseeds," came a grating voice that sounded like grinding gears. "Starseeds," it said one more before it flashed a blinding light at the female senshi.
Maia skirt caught fire, as she hadn't thought to avoid the light, and her eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets. She quickly patted at the flames trying to put them out, without giving way to panic, but still prancing about.
"Starseeds," the lamp post said once more before bending like rubber to take a swing at Chaonis.

Chaonis looked surprised to find the youma inside the shadows, but not because he hadn't been expecting it. Of course he had: he wouldn't have called out his attack and leaped in to fight if he had thought the shadows were empty. No, he was more surprised that its light could light senshi on fire.
He looked back at Maia, vaguely wondering if she was okay, of if she had been burned beyond just her clothes. He would have to step up his game, he told himself, to avoid being hit by that light as well.
And then he was smacked by the youma himself, which sent him sprawling.
So he had a few things he would have to avoid.
Getting to his feet slowly, stunned more than anything and not feeling any kind of pain or injury, he shook his head and growled. "Alright, you dumb s**t," Chaonis growled, raising his fists again, "time for a fight."
He charged again, this time making sure to keep his eyes on the youma and the light it was casting around. He avoid it as it turned toward him, leaping to punch the weird youma in what he thought was its head. The light bulb had to be close to something important, right? It turned away, though, and he just managed to hit it in the pole.

Maia frowned at her very singed fuku and felt a shiver of displeasure snake its way through her being. A burnt fuku, most certainly wasn't a neat fuku and Maia did not enjoy being messy in the least.
While she was distracted, she did not notice the youma take a swing at Chaonis, but she did she hear him land, which was enough for now to distract from her burnt fuku.
"Starseeds," the youma ground out groaning loudly, before extinguishing its light and taking them into darkness once more. The ground should letting her know the youma had moved, but to where she did not know.
To Maia it seemed that the when this close to the youma despite being in the malls parking lot it was much darker than it should have been.
Next came a swoosh and Maia was flung from her feet and sent flying a few feet off, before she landed with a thump. The light flashed on again, but Maia felt no pain. She was certain of two things, she had screamed and also that distance had been placed between her and youma. That only meant the flash of light meant the youma had gone after Chaonis.
*Hope this makes sense...

Chaonis blinked when the light went out, growling as his attack had failed completely and he was left standing without any idea where the lamp post had gone.
Seriously? He was having trouble with a lamp?
Feeling frustrated, he turned and looked around, though his eyes couldn't yet pierce the darkness. It was like fighting blind, which he wasn't a fan of. He dead hear, though, and turned when he caught the sound of Maia screaming. Adrenaline pumping, Chaonis moved.
Except he found his path cut off by sudden light and fire.
"Whoa, s**t!" he yelped, scrambling back and trying to flee the flames. His arm and glove were on fire, and he patted the flames to put them out, a bit panicked. The light went out again and he cursed.
"We've gotta get this thing!" He yelled in frustration.

Maia watched as Chaonis appeared from the darkness, the flames on him making him more visable. She frowned pulling herself up off the ground. She felt shivers run down her spine at being in the darkness, the youma once again invisible to the pair.
Maia her frowned deepened as her eyes seem to unable to adjust completely in the darkness. It was so awkward to feel like they were useless to her.
A flash of light made her see stars jump the warmth on her sleeve her viciously patting her arm, trying to put out the flames that danced up her sleeve. She was becoming tired of the entire situation and was more than ready for it to be over with.
Another flash of light and Maia dogded this time, for the youma was right with her. She needed a distraction, she definitely could attack it with it trying to fry her like bacon.
Maia ran towards where she thought Chaonis was and preyed she did not run into him.
Thump, thump, thump. The youma was following the pretty little starseed. It light on and the youma visible, for the moment. The problem now, was that is was moving and it was a lamp post. It seemed to have only one feasible weak spot.
Maia grinned as Chaonis came into view, so she sped up, running right past him with a quick, "Distract it."
