xxxxx"...no homework this weekend, so have a good time and you are dismissed." On cue, the bell for last period resounded across the school and signaled chaos. Super-efficient Iridesa had slung her pre-packed bag across her slim shoulders and was halfway out the front gates before she remembered. Friday, it was Friday. Except for the occasional event, Friday night was an off-day for the skating rink. Her schedule was completely free. Completely.

xxxxxHer bag slipped off and thudded to the stone pavement. There was a movement at the doors as students began pouring out in a casual way, excited about the plans they had prearranged for the weekend. Well, without specifically apportioned work and lessons, Ira's life was appallingly empty. Odd for a strict perfectionist to find herself looking at leisure time with dread.

xxxxx"What do I do..." Her icy eyes glinted with annoyance as she continued to stand on the side of the path, unmoving. She was drawing a blank, having never encountered such a lull in her work pattern. Usually she would incorporate this time into extra practice on her own, but because of the competition next Tuesday she was specifically ordered not to overdo things. Take it easy, relax, find some enjoyment. Something very natural to others, perhaps, but not her, and she had nothing to waste her time with.

(lazy post format ftw, and boring post lol)

Drake tapped the tip of his pen in unison with the ticks of the classic black analog clock hanging over the blackboard. His lips mouthed numbers; his eyes mirrored numbers. C'mon, clock, work some magic. Buzzzz. Squeak. Scrape. Every student butted their chairs back and bustled out the door. Chatter already ensuing about the latest text, gossip, and weekend plans. Slowly, Drake got up, swiping his empty backpack and slinging it over his shoulder, and then began to walk away, but a hand yanked him back. He stared back at a lanky guy with shaggy brown hair.

"Oh, hey, Luke."

"Dude, let's go to Perry's tonight. I heard he's got booze!"

"No." He spat. "Don't drink that s**t. Do your damn homework. Just 'cause you're failing doesn't mean you don't try."

Drake slid past Luke without a second thought and went right out the door. Waste of space. Idiotically, the brunette stuck his head out the door and shouted, "Yo, I'll see ya school next week!" The Gyarados lifted a hand up and strode out the front door.

The breeze whipped his thick locks into a frenzy. I'm not staying outside, he thought with a grimace. Strands of blonde and blue covered his eyes as he continued to walk out. He bumped into a lithe figure with cascading aqua hair. It billowed in his face and he pushed her forward.

"What the hell are you standing here for?" His eyes blazed like lava fresh from a volcano. "Don't you know there's 'No standing at any time between the hours of 6 AM to 6 PM Monday through Saturday?' Move it, or I'll have you towed."

xxxxxWatching impassively as the crowd oozed around her like lava, she was jolted unexpectedly by one with the same fire in his eyes. A guy. With blonde-blue spikes for hair. Who shoved into her.

Her eyes narrowed into flinty tips at the insult. She looked him up and down with a frigid air. "Tow me? I wouldn't expect that from a guy that looks like the only thing his muscles are for is showing off. It would be interesting to see you try, though." Her tone was edged with challenge and lofty detachment. The rushing crowd was slowing as people paused in their banter to witness the confrontation. The ice princess was insulted? She was pushed? By a gyarados, no less. She held her ground, arms crossed as if indifferent. Her 8-times-a-week training meant there was not a drop of fat on her apart from a softened line on her cheeks, which persisted despite it all. Every inch was lithe muscle, not bulging but powerful nevertheless. It took that to bring a 5'6" powerhouse into a flawless triple lux and land as soft as snow.

(lava lolol.)

The snob scorned Drake at the sight. A slim smirk curled over his full lips. She was sassy, but she was just a prima donna whining. He rolled his eyes and moved past her. "Not much going on in that inflated head o' yours, huh?" Drake whirled around with his arms stretched out, looking straight back at the Manaphy. "Hey, Ice Vixen, why don't you make some friends insteada actin' like a stick all day, huh? Even big shots need some kin." Drake chuckled. A chick like her couldn't make syrup stick to her she's so cold. He backed up, only checking over his shoulder to make sure no one was behind him.

He eyed her square frame. Few curves, mostly sharp points, she really was a block of ice. Even her nose pointed and her high cheek bones were sharp making her appear imperial especially compared to him. They could stand next to each other, nearly eye to eye, her frigid cerulean ones against his intense mustard ones. Her pale skin only made her resemble ice sculptures. Overall, she just wasn't his type.

"Y'know I wonder if ya melt when there are warm fuzzy happy people 'round ya."He shrugged, his blue-blonde locks swaying in the midst of the wind. "I got a better idea," his eyes shifted smoothly, measuring the girl from the toes up, "Let's take that theory and work with it." Drake walked back toward Iridesa. "Let's hang out. I've never seen you talk to anyone except that shiny reflection of yours. Or are you too much of a snob to let an average joe like me talk to ya?" Drake raised a thin eyebrow.

xxxxx If Ira needed more reason to avoid socializing with idiots, here was plenty proof. The guy seemed to take pleasure in trying to aggravate her, a clear sign that he didn't have anything better to do. Now was the time to make a clean exit, she told herself, yet couldn't. Part of her, quite a large part, resisted for the simple reason of pride. The same pride that made her take her loss in the Olympics as utter failure and drove her into the antisocial perfectionist she was today. Not that she would admit that much to herself. She wanted to show him up as well, and leaving now would be the same as admitting he was right, as if she didn't have anything to say back. Her two natures fought for control, the sense and vice that made her who she was.

He gave her an unexpected chance to decide. Hang out? Do people normally want to do that with people after they insult them, or is he just that bored? Yet he had worded it as a challenge, and to her it was also an opportunity. Out loud, she said,

"Warm and fuzzy? That's a teddy bear you're confusing yourself with. I'd have chosen one of those scrawny shrews for comparison myself, all hot air and no meat," She allowed herself to raise a perfect eyebrow, the rest of her face impassive. Ice she may be to him, but she valued her self-control. At least she didn't make a fool of herself like he seemed intent on doing. Her voice was dry with sarcasm, "I'd usually have more fulfilling things to do, like I don't know, watching paint dry, but if you think you have the nerve to 'hang out', then I might as well. It'll be amusing to see what people like you actually consider fun. And by the way, insulting me is not what I would call entertaining, so you'd better have more planned."

Drake smirked, still studying the perfect toothpick. She certainly had poise, but where was the fun in that. He slid a little nearer her. "Aw, well, teasing you is fun for me." He waggled his eyebrows. He smiled, almost sincerely, and took her hand, also in an almost gentleman-like way manner. "You should really, really" he emphasized, "should cut loose a little. At least once." Drake pulled her hand a little and started walking down the school walkway and onto the sidewalk. A few people were whispering. A guy like him with a girl like her? It was practically illegal. Even you gotta let curiosity nibble you, especially with a guy like me.

xxxxx "I've noticed," Her dry tone failed her though, when he did a flip in nature and took her hand to escort her off the school grounds. Once again, her trained emotionless features saved her from reacting in an otherwise embarrassing way. Although uncomfortable, she had the sense to keep her back straight and head high, looking properly ladylike and lessening the impact of their eye-drawing procession, "I don't suppose you're going to tell me where you're leading me?" She murmured it in an undertone, so that others might have taken it for a harmless comment on the weather.

Drake continued down the sidewalk, not answering, but keeping his eyes sharp. It was autumn, and he could smell the dry leaves mix with moist soil and cool air. The sun shined on his silky blonde hair. He looked back at the Manaphy, fox-like corneas staring at her icy blue ones. "You'll see, it's where a lot of people go." Drake skimmed the streets like it was his home, he ducked into alleys and slipped in and out of buildings. He kept his hand clutched around the ice skater until they reached a playground -- nothing special at all. A wide grin streaked across Drake's face.

"Okay, princess," he smirked and stretched out his arms, the park behind him, "I'm about to let you relive the best part of anyone's worthless life-" he spun around, "-childhood." He took her hand again and walked her straight to the child-sized stairs that led up to a slide. He smiled, almost sincerely, and hopped up the flight and stared down at her, leaning against the stair entrance. "Did you ever have a childhood, y'know, fam takes ya to the park. You play. Maybe even talk to other kids." He smriked, awaiting her answer.
