Kuyoja was looking over a chart before the beginning of his class, this was a new student after all and he wanted to see what previous classes in melee he had been taught. Thus far...considering the students age, there wasn't a whole lot to be said. This boy focused on the skill of magic rather than physical and given his combination, a bird type, owl to be more specific, it meant he was light weighted and had wings.

He enjoyed being prepared for things, having figured he would try and teach the boy some evasive moves with Taihenjutsu, as being a magic wielder with little previous experience in melee...perhaps this would be a more beneficial technique.

The gym was set up like it always was. Saedah had helped him eagerly when she had learned who was coming today. He though requested she not remain as she could be more of a distraction than a help. Pouting she had obeyed and gone back to their apartment. Now he was just waiting.

This was rather confusing to the snowy owl boy, he'd gotten a letter in the mail saying that his class for self defense with the teacher Kuyoja was set up for today as per his request. He'd never signed up for one of these classes... and the fact that Ter was tagging along looking rather pleased with himself gave him a few clues. He knew his brother was a bit of a pain but he'd never thought that he would do something like this.

"This was very wrong of you, Terpsichore. To drag me all the way here like this, to make the teacher go through all this work, and for a class I never requested." He told his brother, feeling rather guilty over having to make the teacher go through a bunch of work for nothing. He didn't like the idea of fighting anymore then he liked the idea of using what power he already had in battles. He just wasn't the fighting sort like Ter was... he could only hope the teacher would understand, maybe he would allow Ter to take over the class in his place? He sure hoped so.

Ter looked over his shoulder and gave a sighing sound, reaching out to catch hold of his brother by the wrist before he pulled him forward at a faster pace, to where the classroom was located and all but tossed the owl through the door. Not that it was difficult given the huge difference in their size, weight, and strength.

With a flap of his large wings the bird teen was able to steady himself before looking around the classroom, giving his teacher a glance and then a smile, "Good afternoon." He greeted the teacher, lifting a hand to smooth out his clothing and pushed his long braid over his shoulder. He looked over at his brother who slithered into the classroom and closed the door after himself and then over at the teacher, "I think that there was some sort of misunderstanding, you see the class that I signed up for was a magic class. I think that Ter signed me up for this one and..."

"And he really needs it before he gets his a** kicked." Ter helpfully and colorfully filled in, arms crossing over his scaly chest.

Geia gave a sigh, lifting a hand up to rub his fingers against his temples, "You know that is why Maria has such colorful language, Terpsichore. Really you need to watch that, before you get in trouble before you can't watch your mouth." He said, ever sounding like the scolding parent when it came to those around him that were younger then he was... which was most of the children that came from D-Corp since he was among the first group created and adopted out.

The snake rolled his eyes before looking at his teacher, "Don't let him talk his way out of this." He said, the end of his tail twitching in an annoyed manner, "As much as he doesn't want to believe it hes not a mother yet, so until then hes still a cross dresser asking for a beating." He might not seem it but really, deep down, he was concerned for his brother's safety. This was his round about and rather rough way of showing it. Not that it was easy to tell.

The red headed man, the rather stern and imposing figure stood and watched as the two bickered and bantered back and forth. It was more than easy enough to tell that the owl boy wasn't here by choice, and that the snake (who he had taught before) was the one who had forced him to come.

He stood in silence, waiting for a moment that seemed appropriate to 'butt in' giving a small cough into his hand.

"Any student who comes to my class does not leave until I give the say. Now..it is apparent that you didn't sign up for this class, and given your brother's comments it seems to think you need it." He murmured as he eye'd the owl over.

"First let us cover the basics. I want you to list me your advantages and disadvantages in melee combat fight. Then I will like you to list your advantages and disadvantages as well Ter. Since you are here I may as well give you a lesson as well."

Ligeia turned to look over at Kuyoja in surprise, so the man wanted to keep him here for the class even though he hadn't signed up for it? Even though he had no real desire to fight in a hand to hand combat with anyone? He gave a little sigh. It seemed as though he wouldn't be getting out of this though, would he? His teacher was a rather determined man, wasn't he?

He tilted his head to one side when he was told to list his advantages and disadvantages in a melee combat fight, "I... mine? Ummm..." He wasn't sure what he might have in the way of advantages really since he wasn't the sort that wanted to fight in hand to hand like his brother did.

Ter watched... waited... then sighed, "I'd say the fact that he so light weight... and those wings of his have got to get in the way." He said, reaching out to catch hold of one of them and gave it a tug which made the owl teen sigh, pulling his wing away from Ter.

"Please stick to describing yourself, Terpsichore." The owl told his brother before looking over at the teacher that seemed determined to teach him despite his lack of desire to be here, "I guess what he said is right though... I men I am kind of light weight... so it wouldn't really be hard to hurt me. I got a busted arm and wing once when I got slammed into a wall." Then again those were also wounds given to him by a dragon but still... he wondered if someone that wasn't as light weight and bird like as he was would have broken so easily.

"I'm sure the fact that I don't want to fight in hand to hand combat is probably a distinct disadvantage as well... I would rather not injure anyone since I know my nails can be dangerous." It was why it kept them short trimmed and covered by his gloves when he was around other people.

There was a little sight from the cobra, "You would think that having sharp claws would be an advantage so why not list that since it seems to be the only one you have, Ligeia." He suggested then looked at the teacher, "I am full of advantages on the other hand, there is plenty of me to tangle and trip people up, its impossible to throw me around unless you way bigger then me, like a dragon maybe? I'm fast, I'm venomous, and I am just plain awesome."

There was a groan from Ligeia at the list, "You really shouldn't list your venom as an advantage... that you might hurt someone with that is terrible, Ter!"

"If I went as far as to bite someone that jackass likely deserved it! Its not as though its my first strike every time, I don't go around just biting everyone! Even I am not that stupid." He said, looking as though he were half tempted to give his brother a punch for making it seem as though he might go around mauling people.

Watching he noted how impatient the cobra was, tugging and bullying his brother yet he was pretty sure that he was the younger of the pair. Listening closely as each desribed their weakness's and advantages he waited a moment before he spoke first to Ligeia.

"What you may consider a weakness is actually an advantage as well. Being light weight means that though you cannot take on brute force you are lighter and therefor faster. You have the ability to fly where other's are ground bound. This would give you the advantage of range attacks." He explained, "Your reluctance to fight is understandable, it isn't a weakness though you must understand that there are times when fighting is sometimes required."

He paused turning to look at the Cobra who listed all advantages and seemed to be missing his biggest flaw. Arrogance and pride. He didn't sigh, though seemed infinitely patient.

"Your weakness is the cold. Being a reptile cold weather would slow you down to the point where you wouldn't be able to hurt a soul. You best keep your pride to a minimum if you wish to actually survive true combat." He stated with a nod of his head, "You are heavy and a long opponent, your grappling skill is impressive as I have seen, you are a close quarter combatant. Your other weakness is range."

He summed up their weakness's and strength and then turned and took several steps away from them.

"We will be learning evasion today, both of you."

Ligeia gave a nod of his head, "I know that its something that I will have to do one day." It didn't mean that he was happy with the idea though, it meant that he one day he was going to have to do something that made him terribly uncomfortable and he didn't much care for that idea... still, he knew it was likely inevitable so he should learn even if being here wasn't his first choice.

He seemed to think on what the teacher was telling him, to use his flight and ability to use ranged attacks as his advantage. It didn't seem at all fair but he supposed if he were standing off against a bad guy they wouldn't much care about what was fair and unfair, would they? He lifted a hand up so that he could chew on one of his dark nails in a thoughtful manner.

Ter watched his brother before lifting a hand to give him a shove, "Stop looking so much like your on the way to your own funeral." He ordered him before looking over at Kuyoja, flicking his tongue out at the guy, "I've survive well enough to this point when it comes to my battles but I am all for learning any other tricks you have to teach." He wasn't one who was completely against learning when it could be useful to him. Magic was all boring as Hell if you asked him, he took the classes because he had to do so, but now that he'd made it through the forced curriculum he was at the point where he got to take the classes he was interested in. As such he was all for taking lots of these sorts of classes.

The end to Ter's tail flicked from side to side and Geia's wings fluttered when they were told that they were both learning the skills today. Neither had set out to learn this class today, both were pulled into it, and both gave nods of their head ready to begin whenever the teacher was.

Kuyoja nodded his head as it seemed both his newly acquired students were agreeing to take this class. He took a step backwards and then began to stretch.
"I would like you to follow in suit, if you don't stretch you could possibly hurt yourself." He explained as he began to go through a series of limbering exercises as well stretches. About fifteen minutes had passed before the teacher seemed satisfied that they had sufficiently warmed up.

"As this is a class on evasion I would like you both to stand about fifty yards away. " He indicated where he wanted them to stand with a gesture of his hand. "After you take your places we will be taking turns attacking each other. " He continued before he looked to Ligeia first. He had a feeling that he was going to hate this part.

"I would like you to go first. Strike at your brother with a ranged attack. I read in your files you are quite skilled in magic. For today's lesson I will allow you to use it."

Geia's eyes went huge as he heard the teacher's words, starring at him, mouth falling open, "W-Wait... what? You want me to... to use my magic?" He asked in a hushed whisper, never having thought that a class like this would involve that.

Ter didn't seem to think of that either, "The ********? You want him to go flinging that stuff around? How is that him learning self defense?" Wait... was this one of those 'the best defense is a good offense' classes? This was not what he signed on for... not that he signed on for it at all, it was supposed to be the damn owl that was learning this skill, not him. He was all well and good with just beating on something until it gave up instead of worrying about defense. He gave a hiss, hood flaring up, and he turned to give his brother a glare, "Fine then, come on wuss! I am not afraid of your magic anymore then I am afraid of anything else!"

The owl gave a sighing sound, not liking this in the least as he back up a couple steps, gathering some power into his hands. It wasn't a powerful spell, it wasn't a dangerous spell, in fact it was a rather basic one... he made a snowball in his hands and gave it a throw. The snowball splattered against Ter's chest and drew a rather colorful curse from the cobra at the shock of cold, one of those nice curses that Maria was learning, and the owl's eyes went wide, "Ahh... weren't you supposed to dodge?"

Ter gave him a dark look, "I let you have the first one, idiot, just try it again!" He spat out, eyes narrowing, hands clenching at his side... apparently the deeply ingrained rivalry he had with Geia had been brought up to the surface once more.

Kuyoja only watched the boy in silence as he protested about using magic in this class. Normally he wouldn't allow it, but considering they didn't have the time to learn and wield a ranged weapon like a bow or throwing stars magic would have to due for now.

"This is as much a lesson for you Ter as for your brother, please take this class seriously." He stated noticing the flaring temper of the cobra and trying to remind him to keep it in check.

"You may continue to use your snow balls if you like Ligeia, just remember this is a evasion class. So Ter is to learn how to envade your attacks and then we will switch places."

Kuyoja didn't seem to be bothered at the fact that both cobra and owl had some long standing sibling rivalry between them. It wasn't his business and it would only become his problem if the cobra got out of hand.

"So try again, Ligeia throw another snowball. Ter I want you to study your brothers movements to learn how to predict what he is going to do."

Ligeia was very much not looking forward to when they had to switch places. It would have been better if they had started with Ter attacking first given that Geia attacking first would end with his brother wanting to get his revenge later for any strike that the owl landed against him. This wasn't going to be any fun, he just knew it... it was a shame that he couldn't be learning something like this across from Chath, at least he knew that the newt wouldn't pummel him, "Alright, here we go then." He said, calling up another snowball, prepared and threw it... only to have Ter catch it and whip it back at him, "Ter! You are supposed to dodge!"

The snake looked down at his hands then laughed, "Ahh... sorry, to used to attacking first." He didn't sound sorry, in fact he sounded amused, "Blame that reaction on a fight I had last week." Some idiot human though he'd get a preemptive strike by whipping a rock at him... and Ter had done about the same thing, catching the rock and whipped it back, pegging the moron in the forehead with it. If nothing else his aim was spot on though he'd bailed about then given the guy wasn't quick to get up and he didn't feel like having to mess with cops. They were sure to be biased given the fact that Ter was what he was and that human was what he was, "Alright, alright, try again. I'll keep my hands behind my back." He said, doing just that, clasping them behind his back in a manner that made him look that much more like a giant snake and not a D-Corp child.

Geia watched him closely to make he was being honest before throwing the next snowball his way. He threw quite a few, some hit, some were dodged, and toward the end of the round Ter was getting pretty good at moving from one side to the other, sliding out of the way. The owl had to say that while it was a way of improving his aim it was also helping to teach Ter to better dodge... which meant he was helping to give his brother a better edge in his fights. Never what he wanted to help out with...

The teacher watched impassively, hands behind his back as he took into his mind how each of the brothers were dealing with the task before them. After Ter had counter-attacked the first time he was pleased to see him refrain from doing it again.

As it progressed however the lesson seemed to be reversing. Instead of Ligeia getting better with attack his brother was just becoming better at avoiding his attacks. He couldn't determine if it was that Geia lacked the necessary drive of attack to really try and improve or if he was just not use to being on the offensive and thus making his attacks rather repetitive and easy to predict.

Giving a cough he stepped forward. "Ligeia, that is enough. Come down for a moment." He waved the owl down as he wanted them to switch tactics.

"I think its time for you two to switch." He murmured wondering if perhaps Ter's tactics may prove to show Ligeia how an offense was suppose to be done.

"Now the only thing I ask of you Ter is that you don't break any bones and do perminant damage your brother." THe man warned his pupil not sure if he needed to the boy to sign a contract or something similar so he was garunteed there would be no broken bones.

"Ter being that you are a ground combatant how would you deal with an arial opponent?" He inquired to the snake boy.
