Bright orange eyes gazed about, up at the tall trees soaring far above, forwards through the thick trunks where azure light glimmered and rippled, kissing the soft golden slope that fell gently away from the treeline. She had no idea where she was, what the rippling vision of movement and light was before her. Taking an uncertain step, she gasped as her paw sank into the far softer soil, making her back up onto the firmer round.
Yet.... the sensation had been... nice.
Cautiously she stepped forwards again, letting both front paws sink into that softness, marvelling at the way it felt between her toes. With a soft little laugh, she bounded forwards, kicking up sandy soil behind her as she darted forwards. Pale flecks splattered her cream and chocolate coat as she jumped and raced and played in the softness, forgetting for a brief while that she had no idea where she was or how she got there.

Bright laughter floated on the air over the sound of the growling surf, bright as the pelt of the lioness to wandered down the strand. She chattered happily with the small song bird that flitted about, darting here and there as he replied, pecking at things in the sand to see what they were.
She laughed again at some cheeky comment he made and playfully swatted at him, her velvet paw passing in the air where he had been before he burst into flight, leaving a trail of burbling laughter behind him. Lioness and Muse, they made a pair in bright yellow, practically glowing against the backdrop of sand and deep blue sea.
Of course, it was just the nature of both to be so wrapped up in themselves that they didn't notice their shy new companion and her tentative steps onto the beach. They were smitten with each other, as usually, and hardly expecting company.

The warm and pleasant laughter not far ahead drew her attention away from the playful earth and she slowed, almost slithering to a halt on the unfamiliar and far from solid footing. Slim head lifted, turn this way and that before she finally located the sight of two vividly coloured figures dancing down the sandy slope.
Intensely curious she can't help but slowly pad forwards, slipping and sliding her way down the slope as she struggled in the strange softness underfoot. Once on more level ground, she found the ground firmed up a little and she moved far easily. Pricking her ears forward she trotted directly over to them, halting a few yards away with a curious, friendly expression. She didn't interrupt, she had better manners than that, but she couldn't help but gaze in avid delight at the brightly coloured lioness and her friend, the beautiful decorations that she wore captivating Asali.
As the pair moved along the beach, the small coffee coloured lioness kept pace a few strides back, fascinated and desperately curious yet too shy to draw attention to herself.

After a bit, the bright bird that fluttered around the lioness swooped low and landed on her back, pacing down her spine as he tilted his head to the side to eye their brown shadow.
"Safi, I think we have a new friend." He chirped, a gurgle of laughter in his voice. Safi'kidege perked up and came to a halt, twisting her head back over her shoulder to see what her companion had seen. She didn't even think of dislodging him by such an act as turning around... That would have been rude to anyone, and Mwimbaji was her Muse. That was a sacred bond one did not take lightly.
Or so she thought when she bothered to think about it... or to be serious for more than a few moments.
A bright smile broke out on her face as she caught sight of the lioness, and when her bird took flight to swoop over to her, Safi danced along in his wake, practically prancing with excitement. A new-comer! Someone from outside! Someone who might have new stories to tell! Stories were nearly as important to Safi as her muse was.
"Hello Friend! I'm Safi'Kidege and this is my muse, Mwimbaji. Its a pleasure to meet you and we welcome you to the Kizingo'zaa lands!" She practically chirped like her bird, giving a bright giggle.

Amber eyes widened as she was spotted, but a shy, hopeful smile curled across her muzzle. The prospect of making a friend, or two, was wonderful to her and she watched the pair approach with timid delight.
Curling her tail against her rear as they drew close she bobbed her head in greeting, though the sudden flow of information made her blink, large eyes a little bewildered. "Ah.. thank you. Its wonderful to meet you as well.. I'm Asali.." Blushing she places a hesitant paw forwards and ended up nearly stumbling as it sunk suddenly.
Collecting herself she giggled in embarrassed. "Sorry... I'm not used to this kind of place." Lifting her head she tried to catch sight of the bird, having lost track of him. "And hello Mwimbaji." Looking back at the beautifully-hued lioness she smiled shyly.- Umm.. where did you say this was? I've been uh.. lost for a while now..."

"Kizingo'za!" Mwimbaji trilled as he flew circles over their heads, dipping and turning bright little flourishes. He was as flashy a flyer as he was a singer, for all his diminutive size. He might not be able to out-muscle a rival, but no one could beat him for pure flash and thrill. "Its a pride's lands, lovely one. But don't worry! They welcome strangers." He chuckled, the laugh a bright burble of sound.
Safi smiled indulgently as she watched him, as captivated as ever by her bright little muse. What had she ever done without him?
"Yes, Kizingo'za. I'm a story-seeker of the pride, so it really is a pleasure to meet you. Where were you trying to go, before you got lost?" She asked, turning her coral eyes on the dark brown lioness.

Looking back up she smiled gratefully, keeping her paws carefully still so she didn't stumble again, having found a fairly safe position to be in and unwilling to risk moving again so soon. "Thank you... " She was mesmerised for a long moment by the bird's swooping aerial dance, but finally her attention was called back to the vivid lioness before her.
"Ahh.. ummm.. I wasn't, really..? I was just walking. At least, that's what I think I was doing. I was out hunting buffalo.. and, I ended up here..?" She seemed a little uncertain, gaze lowering to the sand at her paws and she tried to remember where she had been before she got lost, but she had been lost... quite a few times.... and quite often..
"A story-seeker?" She queried, eyes brightening as she looked up at Safi again, forgetting her failed hunt in her memory for any kind of place name. "That sounds fascinating! What do you do?" bright, friendly eyes brimmed with shy curiosity.

Safi smiled brightly as she stretched, impulsively needing to feel her muscles working. It was always so much fun to meet new people and to hear their stories. It wasn't the reason she'd chosen the position in the pride, but it had grown to be a big reason why she stayed.
"The lions here tend to stay inside the pride's lands, you know. But Story Seekers, like me, get to go outside and find stories so we can bring them back and share them with everyone. I'm such a wanderer that I can hardly stay in one place for long... but it gives me an excuse to keep coming back. The pride takes care of my cubs when I'm gone, though... I guess they don't need much looking after anymore." She laughed as she rose out of her stretched, shaking herself all over.
"No lovelier group of young adults!" Mwimbaji chirped as he flitted over head, chiming in on the conversation.

Bright eyes watched as the vividly coloured lioness stretched, prompting Asali to give a little shake of her own. "That sounds like a fun job." She replied, eyes wide and intrigued. "How do you find your way back each time? Ive never been able to go back to a place I have left once." Tilting her head she seemed a little saddened at that, but soon enough the expression faded and she smiled shyly once again, giggling at the avian as he returned to where they stood. "OOh.. cubs! I've always wanted my own. I bet they are absolutely gorgeous!" Turning she glanced up along the beach to where she supposed the pride was located. She would love to go see this lovely lioness's children, and she was interested in this pride that let lions leave and come back again. Maybe they knew a way to assure their return?!
Perfectly content to talk with her new friend, Asali completely lost track of time while they chattered, eventually wandering along the beach to the pride that Asali hoped would be her new home.
