On Elite Kunai's advice, Aila doubled her efforts in her studies of psychology. The information, in its density, was barely on the fringes of her understanding, but still she persisted at the rate of one chapter a day. It was not infrequent, however, that this stubbornness found her huddled in a nest of sheets in some wee hour of the morning, a flashlight cradled in her hand and her mind slowly making its escape into the depths of slumber.
It was for this that Aila's next day off found her in the quiet town of Ambergris sprawled across the cool grass and surrounded by a miniature fortress of research materials. Her head was propped upon her palm as though she were reading from the open book before her with rapt attention, but closer inspection would reveal her breathing slow and even and her rosy eyes shut in an unintended repose.

The day was young and quiet peaceful. It almost made you want to lie down a and have a picnic, or even a nap. But Logan hated sleeping outside, and for the past three days, that's just what he had to do. There was already a crick in his neck for the rough night's sleep; barely a bonfire to keep him warm.
Today, Armon picked at the ground curiously, flitting behind Logan in short wing bursts. The dark brown tips of his feathers brushed up a light covering of dust, causing his trainer to go into a fit of sneezing. "Could you stop that?" He shot a hateful gaze back to his pokemon. It was as if Armon was trying to bug him.
Logan, by now, had long shed his normal winter clothing. A clean white shirt clung to his body in for a nice fit. The chain at his bet jingled slightly, bumping into the only pokeball at his side; obviously empty. This city, Ambergris the town map marked it, was very mysterious from what he had heard. It was pretty rundown, but a few stores held on.
By the time he had walked the length of the exterior of the city, he had had enough. No people were out, nothing was going on. It was almost a ghost town if not for- Armon cocked his head to the side at the presence of the girl. Logan had too noticed her, but was she studying? Sleeping? Only one way to find out. "Armon," Logan ushered him forward quietly, "You know what to do." The Pidgey took off for the girl and landed quite gently on a mound of books. He preened his feathers before cooing to the girl, "Pidgey?"

It wouldn't remain quiet for long.
Suddenly there was a dull hum and a charge in the air. Literally. There was a strange feeling in the atmosphere that the Pokemon would definitely pick up on. It was like a pulsating magnetic charge and it was growing stronger with each passing moment.

The pokemon's voice, while mellow in tone, jarred Aila from her half-sleeping state. She snapped up, resting upon her knees and wielding her book as though it were a weapon. She lowered her guard shortly after; it was a Pidgey, strangely colored but seemingly harmless enough. She frowned, combing through slightly disheveled with small fingers before becoming vaguely aware a certain thrumming in the air, an almost mechanical hum fighting its way into her head.
Aila narrowed her eyes, brow furrowed, when she noticed the man standing a ways off. Was he the cause of this disturbance?

Armon threw himself back out of arm's reach. The girl was a tad more jolting than he thought. His wings were flared out to the each side, trying to balance himself on the ground. He snapped his beak in annoyance at the girl, then his trainer. He was getting tired of doing his trainer's dirty work.
Logan jogged over, his hair slightly bouncing as he came to a halt in front of the girl. "I'm so sorry miss." His face displayed a solemn expression, "He just seems to evade me often." He snapped his fingers in the usual command to call the Pidgey back to his side, yet Armon didn't flinch. He was focused on a humming that filled the air; a humming that Logan didn't quite pick up on until he wondered what Armon was looking for.
Armon stood searching, eyes on the set keen on a something he sensed; something that they all heard. But what was it? It wasn't quiet familiar with this feeling, though he kept on his guard.

Then a series of metalic figures went whizzing past at an astonishing clip. The sound and the magnetic charge was exuding from these Pokemon. They went by in a perfectly straight line, evenly spaced. However, the set of six suddenly turned around, following their leader and then forming a circle around the two humans and the Pidgey. Six red, unblinking eyes stared at them eerily. "Belllllduuuuummmm." They all hummed in unison. It was a swarm!

She tilted her head slightly at the apology and explanation, noting the irritated look the Pidgey turned on his trainer. The humming, growing ever louder, occupied the majority of her attention at the moment, however, and she was too distracted to offer a proper reply. The sound, until its source was discovered, was a potential threat, a hidden danger necessitating identification.
And it was not long before the hum did in fact identify itself. A swarm of Beldum encircled them, and Aila's hand made an instinctive and immediate grab to her hip and one of the red and white balls adorning it.
"Fleur, defense!"
The sudden flash that followed found a Venasaur at the girl's side, the fully-evolved seed pokemon emitting a threatening roar as vines snaked out and crossed in front of her trainer as if to form a shield. She need not be notified of work time to know the gravity of the situation. No harm would come to her human on Fleur's watch.

A buzz of Beldom over head turned into a swarm at their level. Great. Just great. Logan knew he was at a disadvantage. As he contumplated his possible means of escape and battle, he was taken distracted by a flash of light. The girl had released a Venasaur who looked very impressive. That grass pokemon compared to Armon was a well trained tool, but Logan wouldn't be shown up. "Armon, sand attack." His voice remained calm, but he tensed thinking up a strategy.
Armon faulted. So many pokemon at once. The Venasaur would surly help him..... Right? His trainer's order set him in motion, he turned his back to the pokemon, blindly kicking up dirt and sand in their direction.

Fleur blinked in a slight confusion, turning to her human and the attacking Pidgey. "Saur, saurrr," she said, attempting to emphasize the Beldums' lack of aggression. Her pose slackened some in anticipation of the trainer's concession, but Aila would not yield so simply.
"Do not stand down," she commanded in a firm voice. "Prepare to take defensive measures if necessary." 'Defensive measures,' trainer and pokemon both understood, implied Sleep Powder, the former thief's favorite means of stealth and escape. Petal Dance, now that the Venusaur had learned it, was also a viable option, and Aila prepared to alter her tactics as she saw fit. Logan's actions were also a factor to consider, and she decided it best to keep vigilant and evaluate the situation thoroughly as it unfolded.

"What the..." Logan stared at the swarm, perplexed as to why they weren't effected. Then he remembered their Clear Body ability. "Ugh...." He was thoroughly screwed..... Which brought up other questions, why haven't they attacked? What were those Beldum up to? He stared at them as they conversed and whispered over to the girl, "Do you think they're plotting something?" If only he could understand them.
Armon was flustered. He wanted to attack and he didn't know why his trainer didn't order anything. And the Beldum where just talking to each other. There was one who was.... Their leader? They were all looking at that one in particular.

"I could not know," Aila said, her tone flat, focused intently on the situation at hand. "I assumed their arrival was your doing."
Fleur's expression grew worried at the Beldums' words, save for those of the fourth, and she turned to her trainer with a slightly distressed "sauurrr." Aila narrowed her eyes and turned to her company and his Pidgey.
"I would advise that you cover your mouth and nose." The only further warning she offered was to follow her own recommendation, burying her lower face into the bend of her elbow and shouting a muffled, "Sleep Powder."
Fleur complied, shaking herself briskly as a massive cloud of drowsing spores erupted from the flower on her back.

Armon flapped his wings in annoyance, kicking up a bit of dust. These pokemon were weird.... Oh, how he wanted Logan to just give him the word now to attack. He did not lower his defenses as the Beldum had commanded, instead Armon took in a deep breath, puffing out his chest to make himself look bigger.
Logan scoffed, My doing? He wished he could summon more pokemon to aid him. Then he probably wouldn't be stuck in this situation. His brows furrowed in deep thought, until Alia's words caught his ears. He immediately held his breath and pulled his shirt to cover his mouth and nose. He didn't even have to tell his pokemon companion to take to the sky; he was already up and out of the way of the sleep inducing cloud.
