AMITYVILLE ACADEMY ENROLLMENT FORMName: Johan Klarstein Nicknames: None Gender: Male Age: 16
Faction/Race Cursed Sorcerer - Reaper
Personality: Johan is a serious-minded young man, who can come off as aloof, secretive, and sometimes hostile. He carries a lot of responsibility on his shoulders, and he tries to take this duty to heart, mainly because his entire family is counting on him to lift a curse placed on them generations and generations ago. This curse has a physical manifestation, which Johan thinks is embarrassing, and tries his best to cover up with clothing, and his keep-your-distance attitude. Really, Johan would like to have fun. Sometimes, he finds himself staring out the window during class, watching a group of friends hang out, and absently thinking it would be fun to join them. He always suppresses these feelings, berating himself that all his ancestors are depending on him, and he has no time for frivolities.
Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? It's the best place to learn to control his magic, and to get a better understanding of his curse. Not only this, but he needs to graduate and earn the right to visit the human world on Halloween. Halloween Town has run dry on leads for the curse, so Johan thinks the best place to look is the human world.
FEAR: Crystal-kinesis: Johan can form a long rod out of the crystal forming on his body. He doesn't mind people seeing this since it just looks like a staff expands from his hand. Using this staff, and humming at the right pitch, the rod will create an eerie wailing noise. Like when you wet your finger and run it around the rim of a crystal glass*. This noise is distracting, and can hurt the ears of those with better than normal hearing. If he continues to hum, the whine will build to a crescendo before the vibrations shatter the rod. Johan can also use the rod to whack at things, if need be.
*Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies on Wine Glass
Natural Ability: Magic - As a Sorcerer, Johan has an innate talent for magic that he practices much like a gifted painter would play with paint.
Physical Description: Eye Colour: Bright teal, and they glow noticeably. Hair Colour/Style: Short and ice white. Neatly parted on the left with somewhat spiky bangs swept off to the right, and ending just above his eyebrows. Skin Colour: Pale, but not undead pale. Merely 'doesn't see the light of the sun' pale. Clothing Style/Colours: His clothing has three layers, and makes him look a bit like a priest. The first layer is a full body, skintight black suit. The bottom covers most of his foot, hooking around the big toe, leaving the soles of his feet bare. The arms flare out into triangular points that cover the back of his hand, and just covers the ball of his thumb on the palm side. The neck of the suit climbs up the back of the neck to sit at his hairline, and comes forward just beneath the ear to cover a bit of his jaw (think the 90s Gambit design from Xmen) The second layer is an alb like dark teal skirt that's bound securely around his waist by a layer of white linen. The top of the linen ends just below his armpits. The third layer resembles the vestments of a catholic priest. See reference for shape and design. Extra: Johan has rather dark circles under his eyes from sleepless nights of studying. You might also be able to see a bit of the crystal peeking out from under the first layer at the hands or his jaw. He has a crystal Wyvern as a familiar. See ref. References: by Bilious! <3 Ignore the notes on the second ref. Johan is an OC of mine that I adapted to fit TiH!

This quest looks excellent! Can you tell us a little more about his family and the curse? Why/when was it placed on the family? Have other family members attempted to lift it? Why are they all relying on Johan? Because of his magical abilities?

Pfffft. Yeah, I should explain the curse, shouldn't I? XD
The curse was placed on the Klarstein family several generations ago. Any male born to the family would slowly turn into a living crystal statue, usually becoming completely immobile by the time they hit their mid 20s. The exact time and family member that first received the curse is unknown since, when they received it, every male that was currently in the family and over 25 turned into a statue instantly. But there are 30 documented generations of Klarsteins afflicted with the curse and currently stuck as statues, and in the time period between then, the family has been very, very enthusiastic about researching what happened exactly, and ways to lift the curse, before they, too, became statues. (There's also rather a lot of pressure to find a wife, and visit the pumpkin patch, too.)
Johan is a bit different. His father, Ludvig, made the first actual breakthrough when he fell in love with a Crystal Demon. When Johan was born, he was born with the ability to manipulate the crystal forming on his body. So, when he reaches his mid 20s, there's a good chance he won't become completely immobile, and will be able to continue research.
Basically, there's an entire basement of statues all waiting for someone, (in this case, Johan) to break the curse.
And I should clarify that the entire Klarstein family are Sorcerers.

Is there ever any possibility for a student to want to be friends with him? Since he secretly wants some, would he be open to the idea that the friends he makes can be of use to him in his research? Or will he refuse help from others in general and insist on doing everything himself be it in schoolwork or in other school-related activities?

He'd be skeptical of others being able to help him with research on the curse. They'd have to be very close friends for him to even consider telling them about the curse, so it'd be awkward trying to explain what he was researching. On things like schoolwork, and the club-activities, he's more open to having others help him, and helping others. I want to leave the possibility of him making a good friend through these activities open, so that there might be someone he can trust with his family's secret.
Thank you for the crit! <333

He looks like an interesting guy with a quest in mind <3 How exciting! In the matter of his goal to free the past generations, what does Jonah think will happen once his goal is achieved? Does he hope for praise? A release from his obligation to his family?
If Johan should be looking for a wife, is he expected to look for any traits in particular? i.e are there guidelines passed through the family considering their curse and attempts to minimize crystalization? Is he ever looking while at the school or is it too early for him to show interest?

Thank you!
Johan has sometimes wondered what would happen if he does manage to break the curse. Will he be releasing a bunch of mid 20 males onto Halloween Town? Will his older ancestors die once released? Will they disappear? What will happen to the crystal on his own body, and his ability to manipulate it. There's a lot of uncertainty about breaking the curse, but it needs to be done. So, mostly Johan hopes he'll find a clue about what will happen, and that everything will turn out for the best.
Johan is actually hoping he won't have to look for a wife anytime soon. Yes, it's family tradition, but he's not exactly the skirt chasing type. He figures he has more time than his ancestors, thanks to his Demon mother, so finding a bride has been the one thing Johan has been putting off. He does notice girls, but he doesn't actively pursue a relationship with them outside acquaintanceship.
There are a few traits that the Klarstein men are supposed to look for. One, if possible, is a marriage that may benefit research into the curse, like Johan's mother. The second, and the most important, is a willingness to keep the secret.

Gnomes were absolutely forbidden to enter Audley's office. She liked her privacy and her personal space. However, a few of the gnomes had other ideas and found the gothic decor to be the perfect setting for a party.
However, drunk gnomes were not always careful with their rum and the resulting puddle on her desk was likely to be noticed. The stumbling gnomes gaped in horror as they tripped over one another.
One rather clever gnome, or at least clever compared to the others, grabbed a stack of papers off of her desk and used them to sop up the mess. But now he had to get ride of the evidence.
When Audley entered her office the next day, there was no evidence of the gnome's late night party. However, she did wonder where that stack of applications had gone and why the Acceptance Box was passed out and snoring in the middle of her desk.
