The brilliantly colored lion's pride had been hurt by that obnoxious guard, even though he had proclaimed himself the victor and walked off with his head held high. Yes, his pride was most certainly hurt! And more than that, his dignity! Jicho didn't know which pride inhabited these lands, and he didn't care. He wasn't at all curious about why they were so reclusive.

Their stupid turd of a guard had kicked dirt all over Jicho's fine pelt, and for that they would pay!

Jicho wouldn't acknowledge it, but somewhere in his warped brain was the knowledge that if he tangled with the warrior Jozo again he would probably be beaten. So he hadn't sought Jozo out, but simply waited for another pride lion to come along. One way or another, one of these lions would feel his wrath!

Right now Jicho was hiding up in a small tree. It wasn't easy for lions to climb trees, in fact, Jicho had spent much of the day trying. But now night was falling, and he was settled in to wait. Sooner or later someone would come along, and then Jicho would pounce! Like furious green lightning crashing down upon them from the sky! Yes! Despite the fact that he was "hiding", his bright coat might give him away, but Jicho was choosing to ignore this fact.

The massive, dark shape of the Kitwana guard paused, large, heavily furred head lifting to glance back over muscled shoulder. This was the first time he had stepped paw outside the boundary of the pride's land he had patrolled for years. The words of his Queen still rang in his ears, her explanation of the pride's health 9considering its usual state) the low population and the danger the Kitwana'antara was heading to if they did not seek to prevent it. Then.. her most shocking news... that he had been chosen to leave the pride, to go out into the rougelands, alone. Not only that, but that he must breed, and bring his cubs back to the pride... he had to.. woo females. The idea worried him. he had never possessed those sills among the pride lionesses.. they all seemed to give him a wide birth, so how on earth was he to succeed out in the wild lands of the rogues?

Taking a deep, steadying breath, the large lion turned forwards and resumed walking, leaving the land of his home and heading for the first time, into the unknown. Trees hung back from the pride boarder as if leery of the disease that lived within the land the Kitwana'antara had claimed, but soon enough, the long stride of the powerful male brought him to the shadowy fingers that stretched form each soaring specimens, cast by the dying sun.

After all the unaccustomed effort of climbing up the tree, Jicho was actually growing rather sleepy. Several times he had begun to doze and almost slipped from his branch. Then ... a sound! Jicho came fully awake at once, casting about below for the source of the noise.

It was ... a lion. Jicho cracked a grin. His plan had paid off! He was so wonderfully smart. Not to mention wonderfully handsome and skilled in all manner of things. No, now wasn't the time for this! Jicho would obsess over his own amazingness later on. Now he had to focus!

The strange lion below him was awfully big, which might have given him pause if he hadn't been so determined. The time for action was now! With a bloodcurdling yell, Jicho flung himself down from the tree, leaping at the stranger. "Die, you monstrous cur!"

The sudden yell startled the hell out of Sliabh, the great dark body freezing in place as his head shot upwards, just in time to have the breath knocked out of him as the other lion landed square on his back, head-to-tail. A low grunt was forced from him as he braced against the sudden weight of the adult lion, muscular body shifting to balance the pair of them as his mind raced to catch up with the sudden strange turn of events. He had no idea who this brightly-coloured stranger was, but it was clear the male didn't like him.

twisting his head round he sank fangs into the stranger's hindquarters, wrenching the male from his back with a deep, spine-chilling growl. "Who are you?" He demanded, voice rough and heavy from the nature of a Guard.

YOW! Jicho had merely been trying to teach this perfect stranger a well-deserved lesson, he hadn't deserved a chomp like that! But the bright lion was nothing if not resilient. He scrambled to his feet after crashing into the ground and stood facing the pride lion. The bite had left blood seeping into his glorious fur. Blood that would crust up and look ugly later. The stranger would pay!

"I am your worst nightmare!" Jicho declared melodramatically, tossing his brilliantly beautiful mane. "You and your whole horrible pride will learn to fear my wrath! No one besmirches Jicho!" Prancing in agitation, Jicho lashed his tail like a riled up housecat. He did not actually make any moves to attack ... some tiny, withered self-preservation instinct was having doubts about taking the massive stranger on.

Amber eyes followed the strange, lime-coloured lion silently, heavy brows pulled down into a scowl. The brief monologue of his attacker as met with a faint head tilted as that stony gaze swept over the far smaller male.

"Jicho...? " Frowning a little more he seemed confused, clearly knowing nothing about this weird stranger. "Who ever you are... leave here. Or I will hurt you." He rumbled in reply, even as large claws the size of small daggers slipped free and dug into the dry earth. Muscular body shifted, drawing down into a slight crouch, readying to rush at the bright male before him.

The mountain of a lion before him wasn't going to back down. Jicho hadn't really expected him to. Such lions, so convinced of their own moral and physical superiority, rarely listened to sense. Looking at the stranger now, Jicho wasn't actually sure what he wanted the stranger to do. Grovel, maybe.

His tail stopped its lashing, his snarl turned into a puzzled smile. The lime green lion sat down abruptly, looking at his "enemy" with his head cocked and like an interested but slightly perplexed cub at a lesson. "Why should I leave?" He asked brightly. "You're out in the rogue lands, right? YOU leave!"

The sudden quiet of the stranger was enough to make Sliabh pause. When the stranger sat down, well, that was just weird. From aggressive spy to... what ever the heck the bright one was up to...

It was a heavy sigh that the dark lion drew in as he stared with irritation at the other. "You are within paces of the Kitwana border. It is my job to keep all lions away from here. Move, or I will attack."

Muscular body tensed, those deadly claws scored the ground, not for show, but simply because the male was so heavily muscled that he couldn't avoid it.

Kitwana! So that was the name of the pride that boasted such horrible, stupid lions. Quite unattractive ones, too. This fellow had a nice blue to his pelt, but it was absolutely ruined by the dull flat black below it and his utterly dreadful personality.

Jicho snorted at the larger male's grouching. Was he hearing himself? Did he have any idea how absurd he sounded? Well, that was pride lions for you. Touchy!

"I'm not on your land, though, am I?" Jicho yawned obnoxiously, as though terribly bored of this banter. "Anyhow, doesn't look to me like your pride is using it much. Buncha shut-ins, are they? Maybe they offed themselves to get away from you and that other stupid guard?" Jicho asked with unconscious cruelty. He had no idea that the Kitwana were diseased, all he knew was that their guards were a bunch of stiff-necked jackasses.

He was getting irritated with this one. Did the lion want to get sick like the rest of the pride? he certainly didn't look like a fighter, and certainly he wasn't stealthy enough to cub-nap. Besides... it sounded like he had already been run off by Sliabh's fellow guards once already.

Without bothering to argue any further, the dark lion gave a mighty roar and launched himself at the smaller male. Sand and leaves flung up behind him by long claws as muscular limbs stretched outwards. A large paw swiped up and out, aimed at the brightly coloured lion's side, a warning strike rather than one aimed to kill.

As nonchalant as Jicho appeared, he was half-expecting the guard to snap and go for him. Eventually they all did, once Jicho's mouth started flapping. When the dark lion roared Jicho began moving, trying to get out of the way. Still, the big guy was fast for one so clunky-looking!

WHAM! Jicho was up, trying to leap away, and the mighty blow sent him tumbling off to the side. The breath knocked out of him, he rolled and then staggered to his feet, sucking in air. No call for that, nope, none at all! Jicho's eyes narrowed. He was smaller than this mountain of meat, but maybe he could teach him a lesson anyways.

Without a warning roar, Jicho leapt for the massive beast, claws out, trying to slash at whatever flesh he could reach.

Of course, it was usually the manner of things that if a lion angered him enough to be attacked, they would retaliate. So it was a leap that was easily met with precisely placed claws and fangs. The larger male surged forwards, using his heavier weight and extra height to force the smaller backwards. One foreleg sweeping out to trip Jicho as fangs dived for the more vulnerable flesh under his neck, thought he thick mane all lions grew for protection, did its job and blunted the strike.

He didn't really want to kill this male, he just wanted to drive him away. A few good swiped was usually enough to attain his goal.

Yikes! Jicho was well and truly overpowered. This massive mountain of a lion was no slouch when it came to fighting, that was clear. And now he was biting ... biting at Jicho's lovely neck! The brightly colored lion rolled frantically away from his adversary, escaping with no more than a warning bite.

Clearly, this was not going to be a fight he could win ... at least with physical force!

Scrambling away from the larger lion, Jicho broke into a run, shouting back over his shoulder. "Stupid pride lion! You'll fall in a ditch and die before the day is out! HA!"

Well, maybe he hadn't really won that exchange, but the stupid black and blue lion would certainly run into trouble out in the rogue lands with that attitude! Ha ha!

And suddenly, the fur under his paws was gone, claws meeting thin air as he dropped heavily back to the ground, amber eyes following the bounding shape of the brightly coloured male. Giving a heavy snort and a shake of his thick mane, Sliabh grunted under his breath.

The insults were ignored, for they were not claws or fangs and could not harm him. The intruder had fled, that was all he wanted. Letting the fight ease from his body he shook the dust form his coat and relaxed.

It was time to start his journey, the pride would be safe with Jozo and the others till his return.... with one last backwards glance, he set off once again, pace slow and measured.
