The black and white cattaur was completely at ease within the festival, even despite his inability to talk. The bell at the end of his tail matched the sounds all around him, and everywhere people were talking, socializing. True, every time he saw a swatch of red his heart fluttered just slightly, but he could ignore that easily. After all, he'd been ignoring it for his whole life~
Luken wandered about the festival, keeping an eye out, as always, for... well, whatever caught his eye, be it a valuable trinket for the taking or a cute guy to try and seduce. He really was trying to behave himself as far as the thievery went, however, but it was an old habit, and old habits die hard, as they say. So instead he'd distracted himself with some alcohol, and now, a bit buzzed, he was feeling rather... frisky. Grinning to himself, he came up behind a cattaur that had caught his eye - an interesting looking fellow with a stark black and white pattern and a bell on his tail - and bumped shoulders with him before turning around to face him with an apologetic expression.
"Oh, sorry, there, cutie," he said, a grin quickly spreading across his face.
Eifa was preoccupied ordering apple cider from a booth that was run by a small cervitaurm too preoccupied to notice anyone else that may have been around him. Grinning wildly as he received the mug, he nodded toward the small girl and paid her, taking a deep drink of the warm liquid. When he was bumped, it took a bit of a struggle to keep from spilling on himself, mostly out of surprise. He choked just enough to cough softly once he got the rest of the drink down, tipping his head slightly at the wolftaur and tipping his head. Though, of course, that was when the other had to speak. And a blush immediately overtook the telepath's face as he mentally snapped back, embarrassment and denial written all over his face, 'What do you mean 'cutie'?!'
Luken was taken aback by the telepathic response - the only other telepath he'd known had been a rather shady fellow he once did business with, although it didn't last long - he really hadn't wanted to give that creep the chance to delve into his mind any deeper than necessary, and broke connections with him quickly. Thankfully, this black and white cattaur didn't seem anywhere near as creepy.
"So, that's how ya communicate, huh? What, doesn't the term 'cutie' mean the same thing to you folk?" he snerked. "I mean yer cute is what I mean. Attractive, hows'at?" He gave a barking laugh. "'Specially with that blush, there. Oh, and careful 'bout the cider, I hear there's a spiked batch goin' around," he said with a grin that might imply he'd done it himself.
A good portion of Eifa was put-off by this male, though all of his reasons were rather silly. He didn't appreciate how... forward the other was, not to mention the fact that he had obviously already had at least a single alcoholic drink, if not more than that. He frowned only moreso, blushing as well when he was teased slightly, flipping the end of his tail in irritation and causing the bell on its tip to ring softly.
'It so happens I can communicate just as well as everyone else, and 'cute' doesn't tend to have other meanings,' he retorted, obviously just sulking at the blatantly flirtatious mood of the other male. For a brief moment, he wondered if this was how some of the females felt when he flirted with them incessantly... but he discarded that idea rather quickly. After all, who wouldn't enjoy flirting with him? Especially a female!? His green eyes widened, ears tipping back at the idea that he could have been slipped something fermented, and he glared at the cup in his hand, pulling it close to sniff at it gently, then peering up at the speckled male, pushing the compliments to the back of his mind despite the blush staying strong on his pale face.
'Wonder who you heard that from...' he grumbled a bit to the other before rolling his eyes and downing the rest of his cider, shivering a bit. No, he was pretty sure that wasn't spiked; at least, it didn't taste it. Then again, with the odd, almost too-sweet flavour of cider, maybe he just hadn't noticed...?
"Awe, don't take it that way, I was just surprised, is all. Not every day I run into someone like yerself, after all!" His ears twitched as the cattaur flipped his tail, and his eyes darted to the bell, but he didn't bother asking any questions - cattaur were just interesting like that, he figured, which was part of why he liked them so much.
"Well, there's always gonna be some rascal spikin' the drinks at these festivals, and I've got good ears fer that sorta thing, y'know? Anyways, even if yours was spiked, just a mug of it ain't gonna kill ya - might even brighten your mood!" He clapped a hand down onto the cattaur's shoulder, still grinning. "So, what're you up to tonight, cutie?"
The proceeding compliment actually had a spark of pride instead of shame come into Eifa's bright green eyes. Gently, he smirked at the male and nodded a couple times. 'I'm one of a rare breed, I am. Though I can't say that that's really a bad thing,' he replied, finally seeming to actually loosen up enough to let the corners of his mouth curve upward. Apparently arrogance was the way to win the male's heart if you couldn't be sweet and hesitant - though why the closeted male preferred that was anyone's guess. Gently, he flipped his tail, the bell jingling softly. He wasn't so strong a telepath that he could honestly look into people's thoughts, but he occasionally had a slight tugging toward what it is they were thinking of.
'Makes it sound like you're seeking out either the drinks or the rascal,' Eifa replied with a slight roll of the eyes, though the smile on his face proved that he was amused. ''Sides, I'm not worried about a mug killing me, I'm worried about a few making me forget how to 'talk' properly; the main reason I avoid it,' he replied, being sure to do the air quotes and all to add to the effect of the silent speech. He jumped slightly when the wolftaur clapped a hand on his shoulder and shrugged. 'Nothing that I was planning in particular. Looking for a friend, but I don't expect to find him here. Any plans yourself?'
"A rare breed indeed! On the contrary, I'd say it makes you pretty unique - add that to your good looks, and ya really got somethin' goin' there!" Luken couldn't help but grin more as the cattaur started to smile - it was good to know he wasn't really such a grump after all.
"Haha, well, a few mugs will make anybody forget how to talk properly, if it's strong enough," he chuckled. "Just gotta get some experience under yer belt - practice makes perfect, huh?" He jabbed playfully at the cattaur's side with his elbow, giving him a little wink. "Ah, no plans here, I'd only thought it out to "find a cute guy to talk to," I s'pose everything's up in the air, now..."

Though there was definitely a part of Eifa that enjoyed all of the compliments, particularly the fact that he was, for once, being courted rather than trying to court someone else, they were also getting to the point of embarrassing the black-and-white cattaur. Not quite the way that had surprised him at first, but enough to keep a faint pink blush across his pale cheeks. Once more, he rolled his green eyes, though this time coupled it by sticking out the tip of his pink tongue tauntingly. 'Just got'ta see if I can find a few other traits to add to the mix, huh?'
The cattaur chuckled slightly at the very true statement, shrugging his shoulders in agreement. He was much less prone to agree with the comment that followed, however, though it didn't keep him from laughing softly. 'That's probably the truth, but when you combine drinking and telepathic conversations... well, it gets a little hard to distinguish what you're just thinking to yourself, and what everyone else can hear,' he noted. 'So even for experience, I think I'd rather spare myself the embarrassment.'
The laugh that came forth at the compliment was, predictably, and abashed one, the blush growing a bit more fervent on Eifa's face. He nudged the other male back in the same fashion. 'I guess I can spare you tagging along, then,' he teased, flicking his tail gently. 'I certainly wouldn't mind the company. Though I do have to say, being properly introduced would probably be the first order of business. I'm Eifa,' he said, sticking out his hand and twitching his whiskers slightly. 'And you are?'
"Careful, stick your tongue out at me again and I might take it as an invitation," Luken snerked, leaning in close, the gleam in his eye suggesting he was dead serious. Making the cattaur blush had become a sort of game to him - and how could he resist, when it made him look so damn cute?
"Ah, well, I s'pose that makes sense, can't imagine havin' to separate my thoughts like that," he said, scratching his head. "Though there are lotsa drunks that just spew whatever they're thinkin'. But they're usually idiots, anyways." Of course, back in his teens, Luken hadn't been much better, but he'd since learned how to hold his alcohol.
"Tag along, eh?" He gave his barking laugh once again. "I guess I can do that!" Grinning, he took Eifa's hand and held it a bit more firmly than he might have under other circumstances. "Nice to meet ya, Eifa, name's Luken."
'YOU WHAT?!' Eifa nearly tripped over himself in his stumbling back from the wolftaur, his face going up in flame just as it had only a few moments earlier, apple cider only staying contained thanks to the fact that he'd already drained a nearly all of it beforehand. Briefly, he thought about getting more, but that passed quickly in exchange for an attempt at getting his dignity back, belled tail swinging near the ground. He brushed himself off -though there was really nothing for him to brush away- and finished the rest of his apple cider, looking for a moment at the mug that he'd bought to go along with it. Truly, he may as well get some more.
The cattaur offered a sage nod in response, knowing now that the other understood what he meant. He rolled his eyes, however, as it was once again said to be something that most drunks did, but simply chuckled the soundless chuckle of his and smiled at the male. 'There are lotsa drunks who would do a lot'ta stupid things. Just so happens that I rank up there without any kind of middle-ground.'
Eifa smiled, gripping the others hand as well and shaking it gently, trying to pretend that he didn't notice a single thing about the grip, or feel an odd, bubbly sensation at the contact. It was probably just the apple cider on an empty stomach. When the name was given, the polytone cattaur grinned easily, nodding his head in greeting. 'Same to you, Luken. Now, what would you say to dinner?' And, before any questioning, yes; Eifa did not at all hear how much of a date invite that sounded like.
"Awe, don't sound sound so put off, now!" Luken replied, barely containing his laughter at the cattaur's extreme reaction. "After all, would you really still be talking to me if you weren't the least bit interested?" Certainly, this cattaur wasn't going to act like he hadn't been receiving his signals this whole time - he'd only met one boy that oblivious so far, but at least he'd still gotten a kiss from him. Well, taken a kiss from him, more like. Briefly, he wondered just what Kaipo was up to, and if he ever thought of the boy who gave him his first kiss.
"Hmmm?" Luken grunted, shaking off the stray thought. "Sounds like you'd either be a really fun drunk or a really scary drunk, then, hah! Maybe it's best not to find out after all," he chuckled. "Dinner, on the other hand, sounds great, thanks for the invite, cutie." And once again, his devlish grin was back. "Any ideas on whatchya want? 'Cause I'll eat anything."
Coincidentally, Eifa was well-aware of every sign and signal that he was receiving from the speckled devil of a wolftaur. It so happened, however, that he was also in the midst of trying to tell himself that he, in no way, shape, or form, cared that the other male was flirting with him so heavily. After all, he'd had a single -one- experience in which he would ever have admitted such a thing, and... that... that was different. That night had been more of a dream than reality, the memory of it taunting him from only dreams and the edges of reality. He still wasn't sure if it had actually happened or not, sometimes.
'I'd agree that it'd be best not to find out, myself,' the black-and-white male agreed with a nod of his head. The man's ears flicked at the way that the uptake on his offer had been phrased, peering at Luken rather suspiciously. 'My pleasure,' he replied slowly, as though testing what effect his words had on the other before glancing around the crowd that surrounded the both. Hmm... 'Well, we could go anywhere between food-on-sticks, or slipping out of the party to find a restaurant that's actually open and not claustrophobic...'
'What, no response?" Luken snerked, a little disappointed. "Deny it all you like, cutie, those rosy red cheeks of yours say enough." He followed this up with a wink, clearly reveling in his ability to turn this black and white kitty so pink.
"Oh, no, my pleasure," Luken replied quite suggestively, grinning widely. He was going to force this cattaur out of being so damned oblique one way or the other - 'push 'im off the fence,' he thought. "Hmmm, like a fancy sit-down place? Didn't realize you wanted that kind of date. It'd certainly be nice to get away from the crowd to be more alone, though, yeah?" And he winked again, just to top it off.

Eifa, still uncomfortable with this male's heavy flirting, was completely unable to be at least slightly amused by how thick his efforts were being laid on. Of course, that was when the blush on his face became the next poke at him, and it immediately went up in flames once again, making him pout irritably. As though trying to retort himself, he glared at Luken and flicked his tail angrily, making the bell at the end of it ring a bit more than it tended toward doing on a regular basis. Of course, that could not be the end of it. No, not by any means.
By this point, it was honestly just starting to become funny, and Eifa let his pale face fall into his hands, peering up at Luken through the cracks in his fingers. 'Laying it on pretty thick there, don't you think? It's starting to become more of a running joke than a pick-up attempt,' he advised, imagining that it may at least sound a bit like he was implying that, assuming Luken continued with his current attempts at getting Eifa alone, he would just end up laughing them off, too amused to take them seriously. As far as Eifa was concerned, that was the truth.
Slowly, he shook his head. 'Actually, I'm up for anything that's edible, to be frank. I'm pretty sure no matter how small a place we found, we still probably wouldn't be alone. And if you're up for trying, go ahead and take that as a challenge,' the black and white cattaur said in a rather taunting manner, smirking softly and flicking the tip of his tail before slinking past the wolftaur, running that tail teasingly beneath his jaw. His face, once again, turned bright red after the action, proving that despite how many times he told himself 'he didn't care, making fun of people was fun', he was probably lying by now.
