Name: Kilen
Plural: Kilen

Scientific Name: Theiequus Kirindaex
Class: Mammalia

Size: 4" - 4'5"

Lifespan: 200 years, the oldest kilen recorded by Theians was 240.

Heat rate: Once every season.
Birth rate: 1-5

Herd Sizing: Matriarch pair, with a herd of 10 or 20 strong. Herds of 100 have also been noted.

Top Speed: 30mph (often displayed in short distance spurts.)

Color: Kilen come in all colors and variations but they tend to match habitat they are living in for better camouflage.

Diet: Although Kilen have fangs they are herbivores and as such consume all kinds of grasses and leaves. Small berry like fruits that grow near or on ground are their favorite foods. Although they drink from 2 to 5 gallons of water daily they can survive 10 days without a drop of water.
Carnivore behavior appears only in places where there is not enough food like deserts and places where winters are longer and more harsh. And than they only hunt small animals like mice and bugs.

Domestication: Kilen are easy to domesticate. They like to be pampered and adapt quickly on life near humanoids. Because of this trait they are often held as pets and as riding companions for children.

Details: Herds usually consist of alfa mare and at least six more subordinate mares, their foals and 4 or more males that hold the lowest ladder in herd hierarchy. Most of the mares in herds are family related, sisters and their daughters, and only small number of them are ex-rogues. Males are rarely related and are used for breeding purposes only. As the herd gets larger more males are allowed to join for young mares that mature.

When foals hatch mares will nurse them until they start eating plant matter with ease. As foals mature and reach adulthood females will stay with family, unless they really want to leave, while males will always be driven away to search for a new herd.

While rogues are not rare they can have a bit more work surviving on their own even if they have a partner.

Being a small animals as they are they have a good sight and hearing needed for spotting predators. If in danger they can move fast and agile through large and thick vegetation they rather lay low when ever such strategy can be used. Because their good hiding skills they are rarely seen by amateur eye.

Their favorite habitats are forests. And because they are quite adaptable they inhabit almost all possible land places on Theia except the most harsh ones like Tahu covered with eternal snow, snow fields of Morston, vulcan fields and sand dunes of Gradak.

Eldest of kilen have learned how to summon land spirits to help them with many things. Still one individual can master only one specific element that will give it two skills.

Mutations are very rare. Most prized for mares are stallions feather tails, more unique they are more appealing mares find them to be.
