Click to show.It had been an unusually warm autumn day, with the golden and red leaves drifting towards the earth the kimeti walked and so Cunning Lily had decided it was a good day for a long walk through the woods. As she was wont to do, the youthful doe had not made any plans on her trip out as she had no real friends to invite along or tell where she was headed. This was something Lily was trying to remedy but so far had not felt she had done a very good job with.

After walking some ways she felt lazy with the sun shining down so bright and chose to lay down near the water's edge, where she could sun bathe. With winter approaching in just a few weeks' time, the doe planned on getting as much time in the sun as she could manage to make up for the cold months that were ahead. Summer and autumn were her favorite months and the winter was the time she dreaded the most. The chill in the air, the way most of her beloved flowers would die off...it was all very depressing to her. Hopefully this winter, though, she would not have to endure that alone. This winter Cunning Lily hoped to have friends to spend the days and nights with.

Fall is Twilight's favorite season, if only because the light wanes. It begins to grow dark around midday, and the twilight lasts for a long time, long enough that the few lightning bugs left in the Swamp get to float in the air for a little while before it gets too cold for them, and they retreat. During the fall, Twilight tends to wander the swamp for no other reason than to maximize her time outside and watch the fireflies float.

Having followed her snake Secret-Keeper until he'd grown too cold to lead the way, the doe now walks through the leaves surrounding the lake, her glee at the crunching leaves almost palpable. The snake is coiled around her neck, head and tail resting on her shoulders, and makes no comment about the sunbathing doe they come across. Twilight, however, stops a few feet away and tips her head this way and that. "Oh, am I intruding?"

Cunning Lily glanced up abashed, her eyes yet sleepy and dull as she looked at the kimeti that stood before her looking at her curiously. Her head dipped downward in both surprise and shame as she shook it lightly, "N-no, you're not intruding at all."

The young doe glanced around her slowly, trying to regain her bearings on where she was before looking back up to the other kimeti and standing so that they were on more equal of a ground. This newcomer was beautifully colored and Cunning Lily found herself admiring the doe for how pretty she was before she realized she might be staring rudely and coughed as she ducked her head once more in embarrassment. In an attempt to recover herself she smiled, "I am Cunning Lily. What's your name?" It was perhaps a little too late as far as introductions went, and certainly not the best of recoveries but at least the doe had tried.

Besides, new people and awkward situations were not something she was typically good with. It was all Cunning Lily could do to hope that this meeting might go well and she might walk away with a friend. Or at least have a doe she would know well enough to be more comfortable with in the future should they meet again.

Twilight stands with her forehooves neatly together, standing prim and tall among the reeds near the pond. Whether or not Cunning Lily is in fact rude [and she's not], Twilight is too polite to even mention it. She instead just ignores the fact the other doe is embarassed -- instead introduces herself politely, as the snake slithers down one forefoot and into the grass. "My name is Twilight. I've never seen this pond before. Do you come here often?"

For someone who tends to wander around the swamp in search of interesting things and stories, and who loves water of all types, she's never seen this pond before.

Though the sight of the snake causes an alarm to ring through Cunning Lily's body, the calm and serene manner of the doe before her soothes her newly frayed nerves. With an immense respect for the newcomer growing within her, she does her best to keep an eye on the snake and its movements as she nods at the doe's name. It is a beautiful name and Cunning Lily can't help but stare at the doe anew, clearly seeing the reason why this doe might be called Twilight. Suddenly aware of her own gaudy coloring, she dips her head as she nods, "I like this place. It is...calm and quiet."

Not wanting to seem completely meek or inept, her head rises just a little as she glances back out over the water. Her entire body relaxes as she adds in a near whisper, "It is a nice escape."

Cunning Lily settles herself back down on the grass, sitting neatly as she tilts her head to turn back to Twilight not quite sure if she should ask, but feeling daring enough to do so anyway. "What brings you out here?"

Twilight's mind had been wandering -- she was watching the little waves ripple and lap at the shore of the pond, and only when Cunning Lily asks her question does the doe seem to realize she's been spoken to. She smiles and then shrugs, looking around for her snake -- Secret-keeper having disappeared into the reeds to hunt for small frogs (or even better, eggs). "I don't know. I wander around sometimes. I like to find interesting things. I found a jewel at the bottom of a pond like this once." Twilight's curiosity tends to find her wandering around the swamp, chasing after rumors and finding new areas to explore. It also often gets her in a lot of trouble. "I also just really like water."

Her grin is a little crooked. "The last pond I found ... well. Let's just say it wasn't so calm and quiet. I hope you don't mind if I rest here for awhile. I have no idea where my snake's gone off to, either..."

The doe nearly felt as if she was intruding on Twilight's thoughts when it took a while for a response to come her way. She was nearly ready to sneak away, to avoid any further embarrassment when Twilight finally spoke, her eyes turning away from the beautiful doe to look for the snake that had disappeared. It unnerved her that he was nowhere to be seen, but the shrug of the doe before her calmed her nerves at least a little bit. If she wasn't worried, then clearly the snake would do no harm to Cunning Lily.

Cunning Lily nodded slowly to herself as she listened to Twilight's words, her own curiosity aroused when Twilight mentioned a jewel at the bottom of a pond. Her tail flicked almost impatiently as she waited for the other doe to finish so she could ask her for more information on that finding, wanting to see if she could find one as well.

The reminder of the snake causes the doe to take another, not quite frantic glance around the area before her attention falls back on the doe before her, "N-no. I don't mind if you want to rest here." She paused slightly, debating asking about the snake before opting for a less panic inducing question, "You said you found a jewel at the bottom of a pond once. How...did you do that...?"

"I saw it glitter in the sunlight." Twilight tips her head at the other doe, first this way and then that, and then seems to realize what Cunning Lily has been watching for. She smiles, careful not to offend the doe, "You don't have to worry about Secret-keeper. He won't hurt you. All he wants are bird's eggs, if he can find them." She settles down into the grass, folding her legs underneath her and arranging her tail just so. "As for the jewel, I found it on the bottom of a pond. I eventually had to dive in and get it. I wound up covered in duckweed." Something about the way she mentions this probably sheds some light on the fact that it was not something she enjoyed. She's rather prim.

"It turned into a giant mess. I didn't intend for it to. And I ended up losing the jewel somewhere, too... but I've never found anything like it."

Cunning Lily smiled softly when Twilight mentioned she had noticed the jewel because it had sparkled in the sunlight. That made a lot of sense. The doe made a mental note to herself to pay more attention to things that glittered in the sunlight. Maybe she would get lucky and find something pretty for herself. At the mention of Secret-Keeper her attention returned more fully to the doe in front of her and she gave a faint, albeit embarrassed smile, "That's a...nice nice for the snake."

She was trying to be friendly and not embarrass herself further, but the discomfort she felt with the snake was obvious. Cunning Lily felt bad for being afraid of him, though, and resolved to get over her fear. Some day. The doe merely nodded at the thought of the bird eggs being eaten, not wanting to talk for fear of saying something stupid.

Instead, she turned her attention to Twilight's tale. A small smile touched her lips at the story before she giggled at the thought of the beautiful doe before her covered in duckweed. "That must have been horrible!"

With a shake of her head, she sighed, "I'm sorry you lost that jewel after all that trouble! Maybe you can find another like it!"
