The young wild dog bounced back and forth, her splotchy tail waving happily as she followed the beetle. It was hardly a new thing with her, stalking little fluttery things in the early hours of the night. But daddy was busy and so was sissy… she wanted to find something to play with. But everyone was busy it seemed. So she should be as well. She was getting big after all. Big enough to catch real prey.
But it was still fun to chase bugs.
The beetle crunched between her teeth, and she licked her muzzle before glancing around. The last time she’d been chasing bugs…oh, but Damu didn’t like that. He hadn’t seemed to enjoy her attempts at a game…but he had liked sparkly things! Eagerly, she bounded back along to the tree where she’d stashed the shiny bit of rock she found last dawn. That was what she’d been going to do today! Hopefully it was still there… Nosing around for a moment, she started to worry that it was gone before she found the tiny sliver of stone. She wasn’t sure what it was, it was mostly clear, but it sparkled in light. Carefully, she picked it up and headed off. He was visiting his sister wasn’t he? Should be around here then…it was still early after all.

The lake is what had entranced Damu on this night. The moon reflected off of the surface in a glittering array of beauty, and he had to admit, he always loved water. In his own pack, he spent much of his time around the lakes and rivers that entwined all through the lands.
Here, though, was the one lake. It was so different from his own pack's lands, but he still enjoyed it - his sister, and her many cubs were a joy. They made him smile.
And Gigglepaws...
He turned away from the dark, glittering surface, and headed back towards the den of his sister, where he was staying for the time being. He would be leaving soon, after all. This place - he could feel it wasn't his calling.

Lika wriggled all over, from the tip of her splotchy tail to her toes, as she trotted for Damu's sister's den. She hoped he'd pick a wolf's name soon, she wanted him to stay. He mentioned something about a calling or something, but he seemed to like it here. So why not stay? Now was all anyone needed to worry about anyway. Now was what mattered. And when she was with him, the now was wonderful.
A excited little squeal rose in her throat when she caught sight of the other dog wandering back to the den. If she hurried, she might catch him outside and then she wouldn't need to worry about disturbing his nieces and nephews. And she could give him her present!
"Damu!" she called, her voice a bit muffled by the small shard of whatever this stone was called as she bounded towards him, her ears flopping in the wind. But not as much as they used to! She was almost all the way grown into them now!

Mismatched ears flicked to the sound of a familiar voice. He turned to face the bubbly youth. He had been here for a long time... She was almost grown. She certainly rivaled the height she had been when he had first arrived.
His sister's mate's children (what an odd family, he decided), were all adults now, if that was anything to go by, but there were well on their way up there when he first arrived.
"Good Evening," he said with a small nod of his head. He gave her a smile in greeting, tilting his head slightly with the small muffled sound in her voice.

She was happy to see him, as always. Eagerly she bounded towards the other dog, her splotchy tail wagging furiously. He would be excited to see the present she had found for him. She just knew he'd like it!
"I found something for you!" Gigglepaws explained happily, dropping the sparkly stone at his paws before dancing back herself, her small body wriggling with glee. She was probably more thrilled to give him a present and see his reaction than she ever would have been to get one herself. "Do you like it?" the young dog asked hopefully. Please like it!

"Oh?" He questioned curiously, realizing the reason her voice was muffled was due to an object in her mouth. He blinked down at the sparkling stone she had dropped. Red eyes widened a bit at the stone glittered pleasantly under the moonlight.
"Its beautiful," the looked back up at her, eyes twinkling much like the stone.

Beautiful.
He thought it was beautiful.
He liked it!
Lika's tail, if possible, wagged even harder. The way his eyes sparkled in the moonlight made her heart beat faster, and suddenly she had more energy than ever. "You like it? I'm so glad you like it!" she squealed, fighting the urge to run in circles or something of the like. She was just so...so...so...so! It was so exciting, he liked it, she found something he liked and he was happy. Or he seemed happy. She hoped he was happy. Giggling gleefully, she bounced forward to nuzzle him affectionately, though it probably felt a bit more like being headbutted. She was a little over-excited was all. But that wasn't so unusual with the pup. She hadn't been named 'Gigglepaws' for being quiet and gloomy.

Even though he was more or less head butted, and rather hard, too, he could only give a fond smile and a laugh. "I think it'd make a rather dazzling trinket or some sort," he pondered over it, turning the piece with one of his mis-matched paws.
"What do you think?" He asked, tilting his head to one side, focusing all his attentions on her rather than the stone. She'd grown quite beautifully, he thought. Her fur dazzled, much like the stone, in the starlight. He hoped he didn't seem creepy for admiring her in such a way.

"You could put it in your den where you can see it be sparkly," she offered when he asked what she thought. "Or ask a tanner to help make a cord so you could carry it and look at it whenever you wanted." It would be a special present indeed if he did that. But she was just happy he liked it. It didn't matter what he did with it, she just wanted to surprise him. To make him happy too. It was all she wanted.
And if she'd known he thought her beautiful, if she'd caught that his glance was admiring... She would hardly have found it 'creepy' in any way. She'd have just been thrilled. As it was, she lifted her eyes to meet his with a grin. "We can find more shineyrocks if you want?" she offered, inching just a little closer. Cuddles were okay, right? And she was fond of him. More fond than just a puppy would be. But she wasn't a puppy. She was a big girl now.

Damu gave a small nod. "How about I go drop this off at the den and I'll meet you back here soon," he suggested. "We can do something," he felt slightly awkward, but he wanted to spend time with her. He spent more time with Gigglepaws than with his sister, but he didn't mind - neither did she.
He rather wanted to spend a bit more time with her before he had to go. He picked up the shining stone gently in his jaws and nodded a light 'be back soon' to the mostly white female with an intent to return as quickly as possible.

"Oh, okay," Giggles agreed easily enough, her forepaws dancing for a moment as she settled back onto her haunches. Go do something. It sounded like it could be fun. "I'll just wait right here then," the wild dog added, her tail giving wags as she watched him, though the enthusiasm ebbed slightly as he started to move out of sight. Well. She would wait until he came back. And then they could go and do stuff. She loved spending time with him. She adored Damu. And, she was pretty sure, he liked her too.
