AMITYVILLE ACADEMY ENROLLMENT FORM

Name: Aymet
Nicknames: N/A
Gender: Male
Age: Appears somewhere between 16-18. He just hopes it doesn't last forever.

Faction/Race Undead / Dracolich (A dragon that possesses its own corpse)

Personality: In a nutshell, ambitious. There ain't no mountain high enough to stop Aymet from throwing himself at it with the expectation that a path will miraculously hollow out of the center of it to the other side in no time. He's very tenacious when he has a goal in mind, and bounces back from every failure - after a decent amount of pouting and being a sore loser, that is. It's how he ended up dead and reanimated in the first place. And it's persisted through undeath because he's forgotten all his failures in life... and practically everything else about it, for that matter.

Aymet is both protective and possessive of things that he feels are in his possession - anything from 'treasure' to friends. His help comes at a price, and that price is being forced to go along with his crazy schemes.

Aymet is self-conscious of his undead appearance, and tries to hide his bony figure under as much clothing as possible while in school. He constantly seeks to escape the extremely uncool stigma he's stuck with. He also has to keep his draconic emotions under control sometimes - just as he can be overeager, he can also get enraged or upset. You can totally read his poker face, figuratively speaking.

Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? Aymet used to go to a private school for young monsters, but as of the incident last summer, his parents feel he has some 'special needs' that only a school like Amityville can meet.

Natural Form: As a Dracolich, Aymet's true form when off-campus is a 20-foot long mostly skeletal dragon, held together by sheer willpower and more than a little necromantic magic. Aymet's essence is in a phylactery that normally hovers inside his ribcage, pouring out a glowing blue fog to obscure both its existence (for the unknowing) and its precise location (for the knowing).

FEAR:

Natural Ability: As a Dracolich, Aymet generates an aura of minorly to moderately inconvenient cold at all times, bringing the ambient temperature in a close 3-4 foot radius around him to anywhere from 60 to 45 to even high 30s in degrees F, and his actual physical body (if for any reason someone decided to touch him) is slightly below 32 F and lightly frosted in ice. The weird thing about this aura, though, is that it feels like it's slowly chilling from the inside out, rather than the conventional outside-in method. So if you think you feel the icy hand of death upon your heart, don't worry - you were probably just sitting too close to Aymet in History class.

On the flipside, being undead and nothing more than filmy skin over bones has left him with dulled sensory perception in just about everything but feeling vibrations and fire. Until they invent some dragon-sized glasses, Aymet's going to have to sit up front in class if he wants to see the board.

FEAR Ability: Cold Flash - using FEAR, Aymet is able to augment his natural ability for use in battle. Depending on the amount of FEAR he can take in, the radius of his aura and the temperature can be made more drastic. When spread out, the chill could slow some opponents and make for a slippery floor by freezing water that naturally occurs in the air. And in close combat, Aymet could stun with a sudden brief temperature drop. Aymet is still relatively new to his dracolich form, meaning he currently lacks a lot of control over how to make his FEAR work the way it should. It's like getting control of a set of formerly involuntary muscles - only practice will make perfect. However, if Aymet does something wrong, he'll be the one stunned - he may be fairly impervious to cold, but he's not impervious to FEAR.

Physical Description:

Eye Colour: Only eyes anyone ever sees are the glowing blue ones in the skull.
Hair Colour/Style: Loose thick dark-brown/black dreadlocks. Two thrown over the front and interwoven with dragon teeth.
Skin Colour: Naturally dark, but appearing frosted over with a thin layer of ice.
Clothing Style/Colours: Something kind of like the ref image below? I dunno, something cool and dragon-ish. Incorporate dragon bones - wing bones, spine, claws, teeth more skulls, etc. Probably a white/light blue/silver/black colorscheme. Only for-sure reqs are: a dragon 'helm' (horns up to the artist!) and jawbone deal going on and the phylactery on his chest, either as a necklace or floating or something. Also I'm thinking he's got more draconic feet, either sticking out of the boots or instead of them. Everything else can totally change! Surprise me!
Extra: 6 feet tall. Aymet's face is never visible under the dragon 'helm' except for a human mouth. The eyes on the skull don't necessarily have to line up with where eye sockets would be on a human face, but you're welcome to give it a shot? Aymet's bony wings are usually folded Gargoyles-style over his shoulders to form a faux cape. The skeletal dragon tail he's got is harder to hide. Given the whole concept of him taking a human form is magic-based, his humanoid-form body has a filmy-looking illusory skin that frosts over constantly and appears to only be there because it was frozen before it could rot away. This illusion only applies to body parts attached to his head - as soon as he loses an arm or a leg, or even gets decapitated, all the detached bones are plain to see. This is why he wears so much clothing, and why only his neck, face, and illusion-free draconic features are bare - he loses his head (literally) more often than he'd care to admit.

TL;DR - bone dragon wings, bone dragon tail, face mostly covered by dragon skull.

First of all - ROFL GAMER DRAGON! 8D That picture is way too incredibly awesome. I wonder how many controllers he breaks a week, poor thing!

Anyway, crit~

The first thing I'm curious about is Aymet's parents. Are they also dracoliches, or are they just dragons? From context, I'm assuming the latter - so what do his parents think about their son's transformation? How do they cope with his new needs as an undead? Does he have an undead mentor that he looks up to in order to help him with those aspects of his life?

The next bit: You mention that Aymet has a tendency to develop zany schemes. I'm wondering, what sort of schemes are they? Things to forward his ambitions, likely, but what are those ambitions? From the enrollment reason given, it doesn't seem like academic excellence is what he's going for. Is it power? Is he hoarding treasures? Does he just want to get the new high score on his HEXBox? We know that he is vaguely motivated, and that he's unrelenting in pursuing those movitations, but I'd like to know what sort of things are he motivated to achieve, and how does he go about getting them in an unrelenting manner?

I like the FEAR ability - I think that it's well-crafted for a first year student, and has a lot of potential for being developed and focused into more powerful forms later on. I'm not sure about the logic as to why Aymet could be stunned by his own icy aura, though. Does he still perceive cold sensations? Between being dead and an ice-type dragon, I'm not sure I have a grasp of how this could happen.

Anyway. All in all, this looks like a really great character! I hope my crit was able to help you out. <3 Good luck!

THANK YOU FOR THE CRIT heart He breaks a lot of them BUT IT'S OK soon his days of rage-impaling controllers will be at an end.

1) I WILL GET BACK TO YOU ON THIS ONE @ PERSONALITIES/APPEARANCES. The short answer is that I left it open for now in case of future plotting with people who quest for dragons that he could be related to. Also, I don't think any dragon species' natural abilities have been determined yet, so I don't know how real, living dragons in TiH will work yet sad

2) You are going to hate me when I tell you his goal in life is to "be really awesome" XD Aymet is still just a kid. He wants what any teenage guy in Halloweentown would want - to be popular, a great fighter, have a hot girlfriend, good grades for minimal effort, etc. Basically he wants to be the scariest dude around, but in the best way possible. Anything encompassed by this goal is relevant to his interests, and worth attempting to do/get/learn. So yeah, power is great since he's kind of weak in the FEAR department, a new high score would be super sweet because he ALWAYS LOSES ON THAT ONE BOSS, and since he is TOTALLY A DRAGON YOU GUYS, there is no such thing as too much treasure and almost no treasure too daunting to at least attempt to get his claws on.

As far as plans go I guess he tends to challenge/be challenged by people to duels or competitions of various types. Sometimes this an entirely one-sided delusion and he is competing against someone who has no idea they are in a VERY SERIOUS COMPETITION. Especially when Aymet starts trying to cheat. He will also go after specific objects and status symbols that he thinks in that moment are the key to achieving coolness. Sabotage is something doable too. If he can't climb higher he can attempt to knock others down a peg by trying to do some BAD THINGS to them. It's hard to say anything specific because it will all be situational. He's just got a disposition toward doing stupid things for an immediate reward, so when the opportunities present themselves... he'll be there.

3) It was originally negated by the presence of fire, but Maru told me that since it's a RNG, it'd be better to give it a backfire option that could be rolled instead of an element to cancel it out. He's not actually an ice dragon, and wasn't before he died. The affinity came about because he can't have a fire affinity as an undead I think. Undead as a group fear and dislike fire, and now Aymet does too!

I guess the explanation would be.... if he were to accidentally do a quick but significant magical temperature drop before he's pushed the aura outward enough to encompass his opponent, he'd get frozen in place because he'd be hit by the full force of his own attack. It is ice-based, but it's also part FEAR magic, or it wouldn't be able to affect incorporeal ghosts or other ice-based creatures. He isn't affected by his cold aura or actual cold, and even if it was -30 F out he could walk around stark naked in his skeleton, but outside air and his aura aren't attacks ramped up on FEAR. I HOPE THAT MAKES SENSE?

DRACOLICH <3 <3 <3

*ahem* I don't think you have to worry too much about stepping on toes of people who want monster-dragons, since if you don't want to have related quests/characters, they can always be from different dragon group. It's not like you're setting out their natural ability, just giving some info on Aymet's home life. Though from the sound of the reason for entering the Academy, it seems Aymet's parents are getting close their wit's end about how to handle him?

Definitely include the answers you gave Arri about his goals, etc. I had to laugh, that is such a kid, but it's great stuff to include.

So when you say Aymet picks out 'treasures' that he needs to own, does that mean he steals them? Are some of his "crazy schemes" actually along the lines of Mission Impossible or Ocean's 11? XD

Speaking of crazy schemes, how does Aymet react if he's turned down by his friends? What if they have homework due tomorrow, or he's planning to steal off one of that person's friends - is the friendship over? A huge fight? Shrug it off as long as they promise to be in next time?

I can already see one of his hobbies is his HEXbox. Aquiring treasure might count as a hobby, too. Any others?

The FEAR is great, I can totally see the reasons for the backfire option.

Images/appearance? SO. FREAKING. AWESOME.

"Jack-damned Special Snowflake...guts for garters...stuffed and mounted on wall..." Hellma's angry mutterings filled her office as she shivered behind her desk, filling out paper work, puffs of breath clearly visible in the air. A thin sheet of ice was slowing forming over her glasses. She paused for another drink of rum and then went on, "...Other bathroom with his tongue...use the gnome shower for the rest of his..."

The Acceptance Bin took care to be very quiet, unnoticeable, and above all, innocent.
