Dot wandered around, gather berries from the bushes that grew along a river. They were particularly sweet this time of year, but Dot was already full. She was just gathering them for the future, or just in case she found someone to share with. That didn't seem too likely, though, considering she hadn't seen hide or tail of another fox all day.

Still she strolled along happily, picking the sweet strawberries as she went and carrying them in a rolled up leaf that she held in her mouth. Humming a little tune, Dot practically skipped along the riverbank.

((I'm guessing this is while Jaci still lives in the forest? She moved to the desert region to join Kemet, no more fun berry bushes XD ))

Jaci floated lazily along in the river. She was thinking of the spotty kit she'd met before, and about Sephy and Horus. Jaci hadn't seen any of them in ages. It was getting intensely lonely for the permakit. She was thinking about just up and moving, maybe find a new place to live.

A flash of white and black caught her attention. Spotty? Jaci righted herself and began swimming her way back to shore.

Spotting another ripe strawberry, Dot placed the leaf of berries down and approached the bush ahead of her. The path narrowed within a foot and the bush was right next to the water. Judging by her own small kit form and the space left between the bush and the water, Dot assumed she could stand for a few moments by the water’s edge, just long enough to pick the berry and back out carefully.

She was wrong, of course. Crawling slowly next to the water, Dot got to the berry easily enough. The problem was getting it off the stem. Pulling with all her might at the tough stem, Dot was ecstatic when she finally succeeded, but that last pull sent her falling into the water, unknowingly landing on the approaching, blue and neon-colored kit.

Let's take a moment to paint a scenario. You're swimming along under the water, eyes focused on the rocks ahead of you, and then something falls right smack onto ya! A black and white snake-looking thing falls into your like of view. What would your immediate reaction be?

This was the excuse Jaci would later give herself for chomping on the body part of the offending creature on top of her.

Dot tried to yell out as she felt the teeth enclose around her tail. Unfortunately the water's surface was still a few inches above her mouth. She kicked around furiously, trying to reach the top. Finally successful in finding breathable oxygen, Dot spit out the water in her mouth and inhaled deeply. She was still kicking about, trying to get to the shore.

Jaci released the object in her mouth, giving in to her own need for air and bursting to the surface. She sucked in several grateful lungfuls, then turned to face her attacker. At first she wasn't sure what she was seeing.

"Spotty," she asked, slightly disbelieving. She hadn't seen the male permakit in a long time.

It took the little perma quite a bit of effort to finally reach the shore. The other kit's questioning word didn't register until after Dot's paws had firmly grasped dry land. "Spotty?" She repeated, turning a little to face the fox that bit her tail. "I am pretty Spotty, but that isn't my name."

She took the time, after this statement, to turn back around and climb out of the river. Dot pushed herself out easily enough. Shaking off water from her fur, Dot took a good look at the other fox. She was a kit, as well. Very blue, and very bright.

"It's Dot, actually," she finally replied, after shaking off enough water. She sat herself down on the side of the river, wrapping her tail around her feet. "What's your name?"

"Jaci," she replied, looking the kit over. "You look a lot like this other perma I know, 'cept he's a boy." Her golden eyes narrowed a bit. Whether it had been her spotty friend or not, the offending pile of fuzz still had much to answer for! "Why'd you jump on top of me? Ya got a grudge against swimmers or somethin'?"

"I didn't jump, I simply fell backwards," Dot clarified. "I didn't know you were there at all, or that I would fall into the water. And since we're confronting each other about these things, why'd you bite my tail?" As she said this, she began stroking the area of her tail that was still sore. It wasn't too bad, but the kit had sharp teeth.

Jaci rolled her eyes. "You fell on top of me. While I was still under the water. And out...of....air! If something fell on top of you and you couldn't see what it was and you needed to breath, you'd be biting too!" The multi-colored perma kit huffed, stomping a little before finding a good spot to shake excess water out of her coat.

"Well I hadn't meant to," Dot stressed, "but I am really sorry, anyways." She trotted back to her leaf full of the berries she had been picking. "Let me make it up to you!" She insisted, beckoning Jaci over. "You must like fruits, right?

"I didn't pick these for any particular reason, so you can have some!" Dot offered in a tone that suggested she wouldn't take no for an answer.

"I like fish better," Jaci said, but it was half-hearted and obvious her attention wasn't really into what she was saying. She would admit strawberries were fairly good, if not something she ate regularly.

Rather than grab something just yet she looked up at the kit. "Why pick 'em if you don't have a reason for them? Oh, I'm Jaci, by the way."

"Well I suppose that I would eat them once I'm really hungry, or something," Dot replied with a shrug, "but other than that... I'm not sure. I just like picking berries and flowers and all that. And I always share them with everyone I meet.

"And now I've met you, Jaci, so I can share with you!" She exclaimed, nudging some strawberries at the other kit with her paw. "I'm partifularly fond of strawberries. They roll in a funny sort of fashion."

((Has Dot told Jaci her name yet?))

Jaci laughed a little. "That's cause they're shaped funny," she said, still chortling a little. It amused her to no end that one of the qualifications for strawberries being a favorite of this kit was how they rolled! That was certainly a new one for her, anyway.

"I'm not much of a picker," she added, nibbling on one of the crimson berries. "I always think berries taste better the sooner you eat them, and flowers smell better and last longer in the ground. I'm in the water a lot too, so that's probably another reason why I don't mess with plant stuff."
