First of all, I'd like to know what everyone thinks about sex (both vaginal and oral) during menstruation. How do you feel about it, would you do it, or have you done it? (either vaginal or oral) What was your experience like?

I myself have done it a few times and I found it to be a teeny bit messy, but not really much messier than normal sex. I don't see any problem with it if you want to do it, and it's been proven to help cramps (it helped mine XD).

I also have a few more questions. Is it possible for a male to get an infection from menstrual blood? Is menstrual blood a waste product, and is it unclean as in not sterile? I'm not sure about all these, but it would be helpful to know.

Naaaw, it's totally clean down there, I'm pretty darn sure you can't pass on any non-STD infections. ^-^; Hmmm, but now you've got me wondering, how safe is a**l sex for the guy? XD;

Oh, and... no. I don't think I really like the idea of period sex. *__*;;; ew. Especially oral. You mean getting oral? XD; No. I do not want my poor BF down there when... ewww. T--T;;;;
I don't want to sound all, you know, super straight, but that's just one of the things I don't want to do. XD; Other people can if they want, that's fine. But if it were me, it would not make me happy.

Haha, in 7th grade there was this really obnoxious kid in my class, and he got all pissed off about something, and he started making a scene... and he knew he was already in trouble, so he loudly asked the teacher if she'd ever had sex on her period... and our tiny little teacher DRAGGED him down to detention. 9__9;;;

I've done it once, and it wasn't too messy.

As for STD's passing between people, I'm not sure. I know HIV can be passed through blood, and I think most STD's can be passed through sex or bodily fluids during sex, etc. Check the sticky.

If you're worried, talk to your doctor, or your gyno.

Infection is a big possibility. Menses are not sterile, hardly anything out of the human body is. A period is the sloughing off of the uterine wall, it IS a waste product of not becoming pregnant.

Masturbation, yes, I have and would do. Oral, no. Personally, I used to have really have flows and a sex toy will work better than having my poor partner having to deal with it. Although normal sex isn't messy for us really and if it's your thing, then sure go for it. I personally would never do that since it would be extremely disgusting, staining, and unclean. Like I said, just my opinion. biggrin

I was entertaining the possibility of oral sex because at the time my flow was extremely light, and I had just gotten out of the shower, so I was nice and clean. He never went as far as my v****a, but he stayed up top, and since I was clean, it was fine with him.

That's more or less what I meant, and if your flow isn't that heavy, and you're clean and both of you are consenting, where is the problem? Maybe I just have a very understanding partner who is willing to try most anything sweatdrop

Guacamole- It's highly recommended that the male wear a condom for oral sex because it's possible he could get a UTI from the bacteria in the a**s. That, and it makes clean-up a lot easy.

Also, it's never like I forced him down there 3nodding I never make him do anything he does'nt want to do, but he actually went there of his own accord, and he did'nt mind. He said afterwards that he just wanted to help me feel better.

1) No more chance of catching HIV from sex during period than sex during any other time. Yes, it can pass through blood, but it passes through vaginal mucus as well. So if you aren't wearing protection, it's dangerous no matter what.

2) Just infections? I highly doubt it. Penises are extremely un-prone (is there a word for that?) to infections like that. Unlike the v****a, they aren't warm/moist caves for bacteria to hide in. As long as he washes, there are rarely problems.

3) I honestly doubt that there are any medical reasons (baring a few weird individuals) for not having sex during your period. There are, on the other hand, a good number of reasons why you should. As you mentioned, it can relieve cramps and such.

4) For the messy: Have a scramp shirt or towel that you can put under yourselves. Works wonders. And then just make sure you both clean up/shower after sex.

5) Oral sex: If he doesn't mind, then sure, whatever. I'd imagine the taste would be a bit... ichy, but that's a personal choice between him and her. It's not for me to pass judgement. I doubt there's a huge risk of infections or whatever. If you want to be extra safe (and for the taste), there is protection you can get for giving oral sex to a woman. It looks like a small square cut out of an inflatable balloon and comes in a variety of flavors.

Personally, I wouldn't allow my boyfriend down there, even if he wanted to. That's just my opinion though. I've got a heavy flow and I KNOW it would be really messy. Being on my period makes me feel dirty, so I don't masturbate either.

I find the concept incredibly horrifying and wouldn't indulge in it myself...but whatever floats your boat, right? I wouldn't let him go down on me just for the pure fact that thinking of him lapping up my waste of blood...*shiver*...ew...

If I'm correct, I remember a nurse telling me that you can catch HIV and AIDS if you have sex during your period, so just watch out.

Yeah... but you could catch HIV and AIDS WITHOUT being on your period too. I don't understand where you're coming from.

Sorry, Kukushka, I wasn't sure. sweatdrop My apologies if my post had the wrong information, I was just trying to give information specifically for the OP's questions. The HIV and infection thing I presumed was understood in this case, I was just trying to relate it to her questions.

My bad. whee

Well, I'm not worried about any kind of STDs, me and him have only ever been with each other, and we were both virgins when we met. The kind of infections I meant were like the possibility of getting a UTI from a**l sex without protection (which is possible).

I guess I should have detailed my question better about oral sex during menstruation. I never said my fiance was "lapping up my blood waste" for lack of a better term. He stayed up top, on my clitoris, which was entirely devoid of any waste at that time, since I had cleaned myself thoroughly.

I only clarified it because I think I'm sending the wrong message across, but if it were just clitoral stimulation during your period, would you be ok with that? (for ladies and men).

Oh, and for the record, period blood does not taste all that horrible until the end of your cycle. I know it sounds weird for me to admit that I've tasted it, but I was curious, and blood turns me on sometimes. redface

The fact is, the p***s would get infected by your menstral blood. Nor will he get hurt if he gives you oral sex. There are A LOT of guys who get REALLY turned on tasting menstral blood, so I'm all for it.

Sex, oral sex, what have you, is perfectly safe during your period. Whether he's using your tongue in your v****a or on your clitoris, it doesn't matter.

Intercourse is often found more enjoyable during menstration as you are more sensitive as well as more lubricated.

Whether people think it's right or not should be regardless. Kuro asked specific questions, not your moral opinions.

We have had sex on my period a couple of times. Mostly because my libido goes up while I'm on it. But honestly he isn't too fond of the smell, and neither am I so we don't often. I most places in the world you throw a red towel on the bed and then it's business as usual so it's mostly North America's problem.

Ok, well first of all, it's possible for you to have an STD even if you are a virgin. For example, there are some that can transfer from mother to child during birth. And I believe Human Papiloma Virus starts simply by improperly taking care of your v****a and mutates into an STD (please correct me if I am wrong), but it does not require sex to begin.

So, lol... yeah.

Other than that, you're perfectly fine. The answer is no, don't worry about it smile

I'm not sure about that one specifically but most babies are tested and treated for any STDs that the mother may have had. I asked my doctor about that before having sex and she told me it shouldn't be an issue.
