... in Union Cave, actually. What a coincidence :3

Anyway, I caught this Lapras a while back on SoulSilver and immediately checked its stats on Serebii's IV calculator, for shits and giggles. I discovered that not only does this Lapras have a Modest nature and Water Absorb, but also a perfect HP IV! I forget the other IVs, but they were really good for the most part! Now, I didn't really have any room in my playthrough team, and even if I did, I know better than to waste that potential. I want to use this lovely lady competitively.

Now, as I looked through her movepool and recommended sets I noticed that a specially oriented Lapras isn't necessarily favorable (mostly because of Dragon Dance, lol)... but whatever. I'll make it work :V Here are two sets I was considering for it:

@Leftovers
252 HP / 252 SpAtk / 4 Def (ok fine, not the most interesting EVs in the world. Feel free to criticize.)

Surf
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Substitute

Pretty much the most obvious specially oriented Lapras; these are easily the best special attacks at its disposal (though if I get some Rain support I could very well swap in Thunder). If I use this set I'm considering having a Drifblim teammate to pass Stockpiles for maximum bulk. Alternately, I could have a Nasty passer like Ambipom or Togekiss and invest more in Lapras's defenses.

@Life Orb
192 HP / 112 Def / 160 SpA / 44 SpD
Rest
Sleep Talk
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam

Ok fine, I'll be honest. I had these moves in mind already, then I saw the exact same set on Smogon and just kind of copied their EV spread. I suck at EVs, ok ;__; The set itself is pretty self-explanatory. Rest recovers Lappy when she needs it, and Sleep Talk allows her to keep fighting during those two turns. Thunderbolt and Ice Beam provide excellent coverage together and are somewhat formidable with Life Orb's boost.

Anyway. I plan to have this Lapras towards the end of the team, so be brought out after anything else has been sufficiently beaten down. Some roles I want/need filled by this team include a physical attacker, a lead, a passer, another bulk, and perhaps some Spin/Rock support since Lapras is an Ice type. I'm pretty open to suggestions here, so I look forward to hearing your opinions.

TL;DR: Give me teammate and moveset ideas for my Lapras.

That's not a bad idea, Ella. XD
I own a Lapras myself, I tell you that I've still haven't gave him his fourth and final move yet since I was too busy raising other Pokemon. sweatdrop

And you're not alone, I use Smogon to guide me through the EV training so I wouldn't lost count. sweatdrop
Anywho, for another bulk, how about a Dusknoir? Or have a staller like Umbreon or Vaporeon.
As for a passer, go with Ambipom like you originally suggested.

As for a physical attacker, personally I would say Machamp but that's just me.

I like the first one. Enough said :3

That's usually what I do for my Pokemon. 252 of one thing and another, 6 of whatever.

Smeargle is a great passer, send it in on something slower than it.
Bulky, I would choose Umbreon, Milotic, Clefable (depending on your set)

Physical attacker, I like Dragonite, Scizor, Metagross, Ambipom.

I don't use spinners, but Starmie, and Forretress are great.

I have to say Ella, those aren't bad spreads.

My Lapras has these specs

Modest Nature, Often scatters things
Ev spread: 216 Defense/198 Special Attack/96 Special Defense
Item: Lefties
Surf
Blizzard
Thunderbolt
Psychic

It does really well. I chose this spread because being a Lapras, it's HP will automatically be high. So I decided to bulk up it's defenses. Speed is really not important since it's always going to be slow.

For a Rain team this spread might be better:
Surf
Thunder
Rain Dance
Ice Beam/Sing

A standard moveset would be nice like:
Surf
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Psychic/Confuse Ray/Sing

Another possibility might be:
Support Lapras
EV spread: 216 Defense/198 HP/96 Special Defense
Heal Bell/Safeguard/Substitute
Perish Song/Roar
Toxic/Confuse Ray/Sing
Icy Wind/Ice Beam/Surf

It's just there to help. Heal Bell cures pokemon already with status ailments. Safeguard prevents them. Perish song is pretty nifty combined with Sing.. if Sing hits. Confuse Ray is the safer alternative. Roar is if you used entry hazards like spikes. Toxic is great for walls and soundproof enemies that aren't affected by Perish song. Icy Wind lowers the foe's speed. Which is pretty handy for the next pokemon coming out in case Lapras is KO'd. Though Ice Beam and Surf pack more of a punch. Substitute might not be bad here either.

Great suggestions! There's so many different options @ -@

Now that I'm looking at them again, I think Mr. Mime is my ideal passer eek I can't believe I'd never thought of him before. Calm Mind, Barrier, Nasty Plot, Charge Beam- he has everything I want * ~* Obviously not all four of those in one set, lol. I'm thinking I'd go with something more like this-

@Leftovers, Soundproof, Calm
252 HP / 40 SpD / 216 Spe
Calm Mind
Barrier
Baton Pass
Psychic

Alternately, he could Trick a Choice item instead of Psychic to give him more freedom to set up.

I can't quite decide on a bulk right now- you guys have some great suggestions. I guess I'll figure it out when I have a bit more of my team finalized. Right now I really like Dusknoir and Umbreon, but we'll see what happens o 3o

For a lead, I think I might go with this lovely mixed anti-lead Infernape-

@Focus Sash, Blaze, Hasty
129 Atk/129 SpAtk/252 Spe
Fake Out
Overheat
Close Combat
U-Turn

From experience, this guy is AWESOME. My boyfriend came up with this set for use in the Battle Frontier and it's served both of us very well. I admit that the Battle Frontier is quite different from real competitive play... but I dunno. I really have faith in this little guy to completely wreck your s**t. biggrin Well, your leads. That and I just freaking love Infernape. He's pretty simple to use- Fake Out the opponent first thing, use whichever offensive move seems more effective, U-Turn out of there when the lowered stats make things too dangerous. The fun part is that he's basically guaranteed at least three turns in battle, no matter what he's up against.
