Hector was bored. Again.

Sitting on the corner of a boulder, at the top of one of the waterfalls outside of Arcana, Hector tapped his tail against the rock, his fingers rolling a small pebble between them. Absently he tossed it out into the waterfall, trying to see the path it made as it collided with the rushing water, down into the small lake below. The roaring of the water made it difficult to hear, but then again, Hector was by himself, so it did not matter much. He was skipping classes again, though only the afternoon ones. Perhaps this time he would be able to get some sort of entertainment, although sitting alone at the top of a waterfall did not exactly seem like the best way to provide a sense of pleasure.

Hector sighed unhappily, rolling the lollipop he had in his mouth on his tongue, his teeth crunching down slightly. It seemed as if lately things had slowed down, the activity inside of Arcana slowing to an absolute crawl. Things were dull and tasteless, and Hector's lower lip jutted out in a pout. Although the last time he had been bored he had met Kazuya, it seemed as if this time he would be resigned to simply staring out at the whitewashed walls of both schools. He debated on throwing things across at Srpen, but then thought better of it. Laying back on the rock, Hector stared up at the sky, absentmindedly twisting a strand of his hair, sucking on his lollipop.

Maybe I'll just take a nap right here...

Deimos was also bored. Again. And, deciding he didn't really want to ruffle any more fur on a certain Persian's tail, he had decided against marring Srpen's school - for now. Classes were practically out of the question unless he had absolutely nothing better to do (and let's face it - he'd rather get thunderbolted by Kazuya than sit in those damnable classes), which meant he got to spend time outdoors and away from easily being caught. Thus, the Charizard engaged in one of his other favorite past times that was neither destructive nor insulting.

Flying.

Large, powerful wings curved and caught the air currents high above the schools, the wind pulling his hair out of his face to reveal his startlingly peaceful expression. His arms remained loose at his sides, legs backwards, his tail swaying to keep his balance and direct his motions with sharp definition. Deimos simply floated against a strong undercurrent that pushed against his crimson webbed wings, his black form stark against the blue sky, his flame a stubborn fallen star that did not yield to the tug and whisper of the wind. He loved it up here; no one to bother him, no responsibility, no nasty mouthed interlopers to break his simple enjoyment. Maybe he really was a creature of solitude. Maybe...he was okay with that.

Lowering his mismatched eyes to the scenery below, he thought that the grounds were actually quite attractive, if not for the blight of the buildings that marred the surface. The Charizard could easily live in the mountain area, just surviving off the fat of the land. As Deimos caught sight of something unusual against one of the rocks cresting the waterfall, he couldn't stop the small, barely passable thrill that he felt. Sometimes - rarely, mind you, and not to any degree that he'd admit - it was nice to see he wasn't the only one that wasn't conforming. It was probably one of the only reasons he really stomached Kazuya to begin with. But this - this dark colored male was one he was certain he recognized, though he wasn't immediately certain why.

Angling his wings, he cut through the current and curved his tail, sending him in a wide half circle down and around the top of the waterfall. As he closed in, he pulled his wings back, flapping a few times to stop himself and slowly lower his feet to the rocky surface. Brushing his bangs out of his good eye, Deimos gave the Luxray one look and could have kicked himself for having felt any sense of curiosity to begin with. "Ah. You're the not-mate." As if Hector may not have been aware of the fact. "What are you doing out here? The kitten isn't likely to be skipping classes."

Hector had been watching the bird for a few minutes until he realized that it wasn't, in fact, a bird, but a fully grown male Charizard swooping through the skies above his head. It was only after the young man landed that Hector recognized who he was.

Sort of.

"Hey!" he said, sitting up and staring at the Charizard with an expression of half awe and interest, half wariness. "You're...that one guy...the one that I saw in the hallway the other day with Kazuya."

For the life of him, Hector could not remember the Charizard's name. After all, he had been too busy trying to make sure that Kazuya was uninjured after his little spat with the Raichu (Kestrel, was that his name?)...except that had not exactly gone well, considering that Kazuya had turned around and bit him in his hand. But other than remembering seeing him, Hector could not exactly recall anything else about the slightly imposing man standing next to him.

His eyebrows drew together in confusion. "Not...mate?" he asked, reaching up to take the lollipop from his mouth. "Er...I don't exactly know who you're referring to, but I'm not mated to anyone anyway, so either way you're right."

Hector stopped, feeling as if he were rambling, and instead pushed himself to his feet, sticking the lollipop back in his mouth as he folded his arms across his chest. Sucking on the obscenely sweet candy, he eyed the Charizard, feeling more and more impressed by his appearance.

"W...what 'kitten' are you referring to?" he asked after a moment, raising his gaze to meet the other man's. "Oh, Kazuya?" Hector let out a laugh, smiling at the Charizard. "Kazuya skips classes all the time, actually. Well...he doesn't really go to them in the first place. I'm just here because I just don't feel like going to class." he added, with a somewhat sheepish shrug. "And I'm bored."

Something told him that the Charizard was not exactly the most pleasant man to ever acquaint with, judging by the stoic expression on his rugged face, but Hector was quite used to dealing with people that didn't like him. Or at least, pretended not to like him (one day he would find a way to get that Persian to admit they were friends). Either way, the Charizard's somewhat displeased expression did not have a great effect on him.

Moving in a wide circle around the Charizard, Hector reached out, poking a finger at one of the large, leathery wings. "Hey," he said excitedly. "You can really fly with these things, can't you? I was watching you from down here. I thought you were a bird at first."

The look that the black-and-blue male gave him was one he felt smugly content with; it wasn't the kicked puppy one he often saw when the Luxray was around the Persian, making him feel that Kazuya definitely earned the treatment given. Deimos chuckled with vague amusement under his breath at the equally odd greeting he was given. As he regarded the seated male, he felt a strange sense of familiarity, as if he'd met him previously...even the backdrop of the waterfall lended to the notion. The lost memory was a bit disconcerting, but quickly dismissed as the awkward conversation continued.

"Yes," he mused, drawing out the 's' in the word with a light hiss of amusement. "I suppose that would make me right." His tail swayed slow and measured as the other stood, feeling the old scratch of caution and anxious tug of muscles in his wings for flight. The Charizard did not fare well with electric-types. Over water. On a ledge. Why did he land again...?

Deimos stared unblinkingly at the candy-consuming youth, crossing his arms and listening wordlessly. Though the Luxray posed questions to him, he answered them on his own, and the fire-type did not feel it necessary to elaborate. "I see," was all he had to say to the information given about Kazuya, having a smaller grasp of understanding towards the Persian's dislike of the Luxray. It wasn't one that Deimos currently shared, but he found the other's chattiness somewhat amusing and - though he wouldn't admit it - refreshing. The nasty attitudes of everyone else he'd met, save for one, became dull by comparison.

As he started to circle Deimos, the Charizard watched, standing still. The motion, however, caused him to move and tuck his wing just shy of the Luxray's inquisitive poke, now turning with the electric-type with an alert gaze. "You have the strangest need to answer yourself," he remarked with an amused lift of his brows. "It makes conversation one-sided." No wonder Kazuya couldn't stand him. If that cat couldn't hear himself talk, there was hell to pay. That made the Charizard smile a little, a brief curve of lips that didn't really do anything to make his expression kinder.

"No feathers here." An obvious statement, but he really had no other input on the observation, instead spreading his wings wide and tight behind him, the crimson webbing stark against the blue canopy of the sky. Shifting his feet so he was closer to the drop of the waterfall, he continued to keep his mistrusting gaze on the Luxray - more out of habit than anything the other might have done. "There aren't a lot who can't fly who show any interest," he finally said at length, tail continuing its pendulum tick. Deimos was not adept at talking about himself, even if he did think he was glorious and worth the effort. "If you're bored, why lay up here? Is watching 'birds' the most interesting thing you can find to do?"

Not that he was the poster child of what to do when bored, since he'd made the decision to land by the Luxray to begin with. He simply found there were more productive and interesting things to do than lay about and muse how bored one was. Solving the problem rather than dwelling on it, as it were. "Surely there's others - than me - to alleviate your boredom with?" Goodness knows Deimos wasn't offering himself or extending any type of invitation.

"Oh," said Hector sheepishly, reaching up to twist one of the braids in his hair as he rocked back on his heels, away from the Charizard. "Sorry, I...it's a bad habit of mine, answering my own questions. I suppose because my trainer has a habit of not answering them, so I've grown used to it.

"But you're right,
Hector added, smiling widely. "it does prove for a rather boring conversation, wouldn't you think?"

The Charizard was quite impressive. Slightly awed and more than just a little curious, Hector kept up his circling of the other young man, his eyes moving up and down carefully. Internally he was still racking his brain for the Charizard's name, but he could not quite seem to recall it at the current moment. It started with a "D," I believe. Deidre? Dennis? Dexter? Hector's eyebrows drew together in concentration as he tapped a finger to his chin, teeth clicking against the candy in his mouth.

"Er," he said, momentarily startled out of his musings by David's darkly cautious voice. "Well, you see, I was originally going to go and make something in my room, but I was out of eggs and Strat's at work, so I couldn't have him go and bring me some. Then I was going to go and visit Kazuya, but he was out hunting. And then I was going to go and have lunch in the cafeteria, but then I realized that I'd have to face the teachers from the classes I'm skipping, so I figured the best place would be to go outside. So, here I am, watching birds, as you put it."

He had the feeling he was rambling again, and his face tinged slightly pink, but Hector's normal range of talking mostly consisted of speaking at a rapidfire pace, so it was not all that unusual. He simply just could not help himself, since he enjoyed talking so much, but despite the beliefs of others, he did enjoy listening just as much as he enjoyed speaking. However, whenever he did speak, it seemed as if he could not stop sometimes; a habit he was forcefully attempting to break day by day.

Hector flashed Denton a wide smile. The Charizard was eyeing him with a wary expression, one that said he did not easily trust others, but Hector took little notice of this. He was much too fascinated by the concept of flying, and circled Dirk again, stopping behind him to peer with child-like curiosity at the massive wings. They were really quite impressive looking, strong and powerful, and it made Hector somewhat wistful for a pair of his own, although he felt he would look somewhat silly with them. Not nearly as calm and collected as Dominick here.

His ears perked up slightly at the Charizard's next words, and Hector scooted around to stand in front of him again, excitement lighting his eyes. "Are you implying you want to do something to help me alleviate my boredom, Dalton?" he asked brightly. "You could take me flying, you know! That would cure it!"
