So my friend and I were talking in class one day, and I brought up the Disney Vault you always see in those commercials.
Is the Disney Vault even real?
I mean, think about it. Is it just what they call it to make the commercials seem more interesting/the DVD to be that much more expensive? Is it a literal vault, or is it a bunch of cardboard boxes in the back storage?
Where the hell is this vault, anyway? Is it in Disneyland, the Animation Studio? It could be in your house-- and you might not even know it!! D:
So I'm telling this to my friend and he was all like, "Dude, Hades, that's deep man." And we made some inside jokes, like some random things/people we hate in the vault and whatnot. That doesn't matter though.
Where is this vault??? D:

I think essentially what the "Disney Vault" is, is just a way to make money by making certain editions rarer. When a title goes back into the disney vault, disney takes whatever didn't sell and either destroys or donates them, making the edition people have purchased more valuable, its pretty much only a serious thing for collectors. They also do it because they like to release it to "generations" so a whole new audience can enjoy them.
I think its also so no one really gets sick of disney, notice how rare it is to see a disney movie on the clearance rack? XD

Speaking of clearance racks! At the store I work at, to help clear out rentals and replace them with new ones, they'll sell them. I bought Princess and the Frog for ten bucks because of it. BD

I think the vault is real. But I do think Giselle is correct, but maybe they take all the unsold DVD's and merchandise and lock them in the vault with Walt Disneys frozen body?? Maybe that's why they only sell Tinkerbell and Disney Princess merchandise at Disney World? -jerks-

It's totally real. I think it's in the studios in... Florida, was it? Don't quote me on that.

Because I heard there's that, or that they severed his head, and hope to use his brain. My friend and I had a whole discussion trying to figure out who would be worthy to have the brain of Walt Disney.

I'm a fan of Disney's work but not of Disney himself. I read really bad things about him. Like how he wasn't very fond of jews and the people around him are the ones who really built Disney into what it is today. It probably was best that they didn't preserve his brain... sweatdrop

It probably was best that they didn't preserve his brain... sweatdrop I'm not trying to defend his prejudices, but remember the context that he was in. Most of the other big name movie companies were all run by those of Jewish descent. So more than likely it could have been morphed over the years as "Disney hated his competition that happened to be Jewish" to "Disney hated Jews!"
But yet again, this was how it was explained to me by my history of film professor. It could be wrong too. lol
