Perhaps instead of trying to tell me that they're going to 'plant a tracking chip in my jaw bone', you guys could fill me in on home remedies for the recovery.
I'll already be chewing tea leaves... or at least putting tea bags in my gauze, to aid the clotting process, and probably to avoid a dry socket.
Suggestions?
I'll read them when I come to later.
I might be a little goofy.

Don't drink coffee, smoke cigarettes or anything like that for at least 2 weeks. Those things can dissolve the plug that will form to keep you from getting dry socket.

I didn't do anything special when I had mine out. Two were pulled and one was surgically extracted. The fourth was non-existent.
I threw out the Vicodin they gave me and took ibuprofen for two days instead. One of my stitches came out so the gum was flappy but after I stopped messing with it with my tongue it healed up nicely. As far as what not to do, don't suck anything like a straw or especially a cigarette or whatever you might smoke, as Vanilla eXee said. Sucking can create a dry socket which I hear is worse than death.
I went on vacation the day after and I promise it wasn't that horrible at all. I have a high pain tolerance, but I still think people make it out to be worse than it is.

Well, I'm back, and abnormally lucid. Gonna relax on my couch. I read a lot of this stuff already, but I'll read it all a bit later.
I'm not drop dead tired like I was told I would be, but I figure rest is the best thing for it.
Thanks, again.

Ice packs on your jaw might help!
I've had all 4 wisdom teeth out.
Good luck!

4 for me too. I haven't let the ice packs leave my face when I can help it.
I am really hardly swollen because of it.

It really wasn't that big a deal when I got my wisdom teeth removed. Just iced my face when I had the chance and tried not to do what they told me not to do. I had a houseful of little kids at the time, and was in the midst of trying to refinish a big dining table before Thanksgiving, which was 1 week away. I just didn't have time to think about it!
Hope you'll have an easy time of it.

Still have one of the four, Pirhan-----not quite brain-dead, though not as bright as your are! blaugh
(Wouldn't it simplify life if we could just check everyone's mouth for their I.Q.? Then decide if they're worth listening to, or not?)

I would have just gone from wise to inept, if that is the real function of the teeth.
I can't imagine having an odd number of wisdom teeth. Wouldn't it make your face really asymmetrical, and your teeth misaligned?

I only had three, the fourth one never grew in. It wasn't even there under the surface.

I still have the 4th one, up in the roof of my mouth, unerupted. So maybe I have "hidden wisdom?" lol Also have an extra canine tooth in the same condition. That has freaked out the dentists for a long time, they always want to take it out, but it causes no trouble. The common name for that particular tooth where I grew up is "eyetooth." Anyone know why? I don't.
