It was cold..he hated cold, and thanked his lucky stars that his outfit involved long sleeves and pants..It was outdoors, which was acceptable, reed enjoyed being outside, and it was night! Which he honestly couldn't care one way or another about, after all if they were all so amazing, all so bad-a** and powerful, how was it they tended to ignore trouncing about and snatching up starseeds during the daylight? Reed had a few theory's on this, a majority of them ending with Lt.s being weak and jail being bad, another speculating on how cool and creepy killing things at night must have been. Yes evil was so often stereotyped with darkness and moonless nights and other such things, that was why they hunted down they're prey during the darkest hours!

Reed grinned at the idea, slipping through the shadow's near silently. On this particular trip he was on the lookout for any campers who might be out and about, normally he'd prowl the city, but recently there'd been a lot of talk of new senshi rushing about. Reed had yet to meet any, and he was going to try his hardest to avoid them for now. After all it had to be easier to get a star seed without being interrupted by some misguided punk with a hero complex.

"Now doesn't this look promising" Reed smirked darkly, pausing for a moment to spy on the open campsite, a small flickering fire and the sound of a happy family catching his attention...Now all reed needed was a chance to ruin it all for them, someone would have to stray away eventually, to use the bathroom or to go admire the night sky, and then...

Tired muscles ached to a very serene mind. The day had Teddy's as he completed so much and yet felt only the pains of a tired body, but not a tired mind. A particularly delicious smoothie had started a day that included all his favorite activities of shopping with his newly limitless credit card for a fantastically durable set of gear for rock climbing and then a rejuvenating yoga class and visit to the steam room. Teddy felt new and proud as headed home from his last activity for the day: rock climbing. Though the rock wall hardly challenged him, scaling it multiple times had worked out all the stress of the week for the teal haired climber. However, as the sun was setting on Teddy's day, Esperite's day had risen with the beautiful night stars.

With the blink of his crimson eyes, Teddy disappeared behind the lavish attire of the ambitious Esperite. Invigorated from his latest victory and his first few starseeds, he was ready to get his tenth starseed and tonight was just the night. As far as he was concerned, this would be a cake walk. What could possibly get in his way of claiming even more star seeds and giving value to the hideous, worthless denizens of Destiny City?

Dull light and the warm glow of a camp fire attracted Esperite to a campsite. Five people surrounded the campsite and it appeared everyone was present and accounted for by the appearance of the family.

Two adults, three children. No signs of a missing member. Hopefully they will settle into bed soon and I can strike...

As anticipated, the father on the small family headed into the forest, most likely to get some more firewood and just in time for Esperite to use him as bait for the other four. Esperite quickly rushed behind him, and used the round edge of his daggers to strike him on the back of the head.

Prehnite shifted slightly on his perch up high in the tree watching the small figures below with mild annoyance. Carefully stretching out a cramp in his leg when finally someone got up to wander away..It was about damn time! Prehnite only had so much patience when it came to waiting, really he preferred to get things started on his own and finish them up quickly. This particular situation had demanded that he wait for someone to get away from the light of the fire, before he could make his move.

Grinning eagerly Prehnite watched, as who he could only assume was the father, got up for what ever reason and left, wandering away from the safety of the camp out into the darkness. Prehnite followed the man with an icy gaze, watching intently until he disappeared behind a small growth of trees. It was all too perfect really, no one would see him, no one would hear him, eventually they'd all come looking and then the real fun would start!

Near silent in his own movements as he dropped down from the tree; landing with a soft thud and rustle of leaves on the forest floor. Prehnite cursed himself for being so slow and loosing sight of his prey, it didn't matter though he'd seen where he'd gone off too...And of course the man was right where he should have been when Prehnite made his rush over, was in the perfect place to be unsuspectingly ambushed, the perfect height to be taken out with ease..perfectly ALONE. Or at least he was supposed to be!

Prehnites face a perfect mix of shock and anger as he found his potential star seed not alone, but instead in the hands of another. Some tastelessly dressed Lt. hovering above the unconscious figure who was key to the success of his plot!

"Thank you so much for catching my bait for me, but if you don't mind I can handle this on my own." Prehnite didn't bother to smile as he spoke, his trowel brandished at his side, non-threatening but at the ready just in case he needed it.

The thud as another hit the ground, the rustle of the leaves, the annoying voice that echoed behind him. All of it had come to his attention as he sealed the fate of the burly camper. He had hoped it was the wife or possibly one of the kids, nothing like killing two birds with one stone. However, his lucky streak had abruptly ended with the appearance of the other lieutenant. Agitation and annoyance flared up in his crimson eyes as he contemplated his situation. He would play this a little differently than usual. If it had been a senshi, he would have ignored the fallen stranger and immediately jumped to action, effectively losing his prize and failing to accomplish to his true goal. Starseed collection came first for Esperite. This brazen moron wasn't going to sway him away from what was his. Calmly, before even looking up to examine his fellow Negaverse lieutenant, he carefully took the man's starseed and stored it safely in his sash.

Now that I'm done with you sir, I guess I have to acknowledge the mentally handicapped imbecile that doesn't understand common sense.

He stood straight up and turned to examine the other young man. Nothing too special about him, attire was gaudy at best, and the gardening tool didn't give him any kind of an edge. Not that Esperite was one to talk with his twin plastic daggers, but in all honesty, the most either could do was cause blunt damage. He stood slightly defensively before continuing their encounter.

You're on my turf kid. Why don't you run along home and steal some flower girl's starseed. The big boys have real work to do out here.

Esperite's introduction to the other lieutenants had been brief and amounted to him basically being informed that there were other "bottom feeders" like himself and he would run into them occasionally. Not the best introduction for his first meeting with another peer, but Esperite wasn't what someone would describe as a people person.

What a way to meet his first Lt. If anything it strengthened Prehnites reason's for avoiding group activity's, if all the others were going to be as annoying as this guy was. Furthermore who the heck was he calling a kid! Ages always seemed so skewered when they changed, reed was sure he looked a little bit younger then he truly was..but he was no kid!

"Excuse me, your turf? Oh please forgive me then for I hadn't realized there was a new world 'King' running about. One dressed like a reject matador no less.." Prehnite scoffed, giving the tall boy before him a quick once over, more of a look then he needed really. A tight outfit, with frilly sash's and the most odd pair of weapons..plastic swords, really? Was he going for a pirate theme maybe? Apparently some people still thought more with their muscles then they did with they're head's, and this..petty thief..was obviously one of those people.

Prehnite really hadn't come looking for a fight, a bit of a thrill and some star seeds, but not a fight. He wasn't about to back down and throw away all that time he'd spent waiting for the perfect moment, just because this guy'd been a fraction faster. No, screw that, this was his show tonight!

"I realize that tight outfit of yours must be cutting off circulation to something, maybe your brain? So I'll repeat myself..Thank you for the help, but I was here first, beat it" Prehnite glared the other down menacingly, quite peeved that he'd decided to go on and pocket the star seed anyways. Maybe he could have that one..sure..that one tiny loss to rid himself of the vulture, but the rest were going to be his. The mother, the children, all his.

What first started as a small matchstick flicker of agitation was very quickly becoming a roaring inferno of anger. If this garden variety moron wanted to throw down the gauntlet, he was more than happy to oblige. Whatever events had led to the two lieutenants meeting, Esperite was not about to be insulted, much less pushed around by anyone. From a bystander's point of view, he had been preemptively on the attack, but even if Esperite didn't have crimson eyes, he would still always be seeing red.

I don't know what barn you were raised in that bred you to be so ill-mannered, but I will not tolerate you questioning my authority in this situation. Whoever was here first doesn't matter at all to me, if you want to go on blabbering about such minute details such as time, then please be my guest. However, do not expect me to stand here and listen to you rant as I have more starseeds to obtain before the night is over.

Once more he brought his hand to his sash and made sure the camper's starseed was safely tucked away before he decided to draw both his plastic daggers in an effort to scare the other lieutenant off. While the two green toys were hardly anything to be overly threatened by, he still saw this as an advantage to his opponent's single gardening tool. He was sorely bothered by this unexpected intrusion and wasn't about to let the stranger off easy.

Now I suggest we settle this now. I don't allow anyone to speak to me in such a manner and if you are so set on getting the rest of the starseeds, then we are going to have to settle this like men. And by settle, I mean I'm about to show you what a real lieutenant can do. But be advised that if you scare off the rest of the campers, I won't go easy on you.

He raised one hand in Reed's direction and motioned him to begin.

"No, let me give YOU some advice, Mr. Matador. If I find them gone after I run your sashed arse into the ground, I'll make you the one to get me replacement star seeds." The opportunity had been soo perfect, as if it'd been set up just for him! If he lost it, the punk would pay with his hide, fellow Lt. or not..

Reed openly smirked, more then happy to take first action against his brash and surprisingly well spoken opponent. Taking a brief moment to size the other up before charging in. The other was stronger then him, possibly faster then him, though undoubtedly not as smart as Reed was. He wouldn't have a height advantage with this one, which sucked..it would have been nice to be the taller more intimidating one.. If nothing else Reeds lack of muscular bulk would make him a more slender target. Maybe that much harder to poke at with those toothpicks the other called weapons.

Normally Reed would have taken his time, toyed with him a bit, Reed would have teased and mocked him until he attacked first, but the challenge was too much. The guy had pushed his buttons and that and the man quip..he was damned manly enough to take him on!

Slashing out flatly at the Lt's chest, an open almost clumsy move. Testing his own reach with his weapon as well as sash boy's skills..He'd never actually found himself in a fight before, and Reed wanted to try and keep this one at arms length. Any closer and he was sure he'd find himself hurting.

Esperite was becoming bored with the shallow banter his fellow lieutenant was producing. Four more starseeds, if not more, were just a few yards away and he was forced to play verbal assault with such an embarrassment for the Negaverse. However, he was shook from his boredom by Prehnite's strike.

"Hmph, cute. Are you going to pull my hair like a little girl next?"

A sharp blunt strike raked against his crossed arm as he moved both daggers in a battle ready position. He hadn't expected the other lieutenant to strike him at his chest. Though it made the most sense height wise, he had predicted the usual target of the head or legs. Interesting if planned and lucky if not. Esperite used the blunt, round end of each dagger to make a motion for Prehnite's shoulders. His highest hope would be a dislocated shoulder or at the very least, an ugly bruise.

"Hah, if I'm a 'Mr. Matador' then I guess you are the bull. Not a bad role for you, considering how easily you are led into a stupidly obvious rage. Seeing red princess?"

Prehnite mentally chided himself for being so easily dragged into rushing by his opponents, stupid, low grade teasing. Really..attacking his manhood, was that the best he could do? If anyone was a princess here it was him, with his showy frilly outfit! It was too late to back out of it now though, and if Mr. Matador wanted a bull to fight..well he'd get one, the horns and all.

"Red? Not yet, not until I've made you bleed." Prehnite snapped angrily, cursing as he realized that he was far to close to avoid an attack. The jerk had the advantage of dual weapons..and even though the weapons themselves could be considered pathetic, the person wielding them had enough strength to throw into them that he could make them painfully annoying to deal with. Near deadly even..

Wincing painfully Prehnite chose to sacrifice his left shoulder rather then take injury to both. Jerking back and away to the right as the one blade connected, it stung like a b***h and he swore he could already feel the bruise forming.

Prehnite had to even the odds for himself, eying Esperites hands Reed made a few swift stabs for them. Knowing he'd have to be quicker this time if he wanted to avoid the matadors reach...

Esperite counted the first round his. A small scarp across the harm hardly compared to the damage he knew his strike would cause to Prehnite's shoulder. Not to say he would have counted this as a loss had the damage been reversed, but this early win only served to feed his ever growing ego. However, Prehnite's attempt at his hands did start to even the score a bit. Though it didn't remove both daggers, the left quickly fell to the ground, just a few inches from his boots. He again hadn't expected the attack at such an unusual area. This time was different from the first though. While his right hand was fine, his left would need a moment to recuperate. He took this moment to chide his peer once more.

"Haha, it seems you are all talk. Maybe you should go back to playing in the dirt?"

He wasn't afraid of the purple haired stranger before him. Whatever reasonable and necessary fear a normal person would feel were instantly shut off the moment he stopped being Teddy and became Esperite. The cracked mirror that was the doorway between the two had the horrific and fantastic appeal of removing reality for the young crimson eyed boy. Healthy apprehension was thrown out the window in favor of a more relentless aggression. Pain became another entity. Alive and thriving from the two lieutenants efforts. Whatever discomfort Teddy felt in the morning, Esperite would shrug off as he faded with the morning light. Teddy would pay the price, if there was anything left to pay after his juiced up regeneration kicked in. There were two suns and two moons as Teddy and Esperite walked in their own worlds. This lead to a loose cannon with a keen eye. Taking this notion to heart, Esperite decided to return the favor he was just granted by Prehnite.

"I want you to know, if you feel like crying, my opinion of you can't possibly get any lower princess."

As the last word left his mouth, Esperite used the sharpest tool he had: his boots. A quick dash on the crimson eyed lieutenant's part with followed by a low kick. He wanted to make his opponent eat dirt and the quickest way he knew how to do that was to take him down to the ground.

Prehnite grinned at scoring the slight hit and knocking the one dagger free, giving himself the barest glimpse of hope for winning. His mirth short lived, replaced with rigid anger once more at Esperites sharp, aggravating teasing. The man was skilled, witty, ruthless, honestly if Prehnite wasn't having his a** handed to himself by the jerk, he might have found himself getting along with Mr. Matador. Even if he did have a horrid sense of fashion..

"Brilliant idea, maybe I can make a sandwich of it fitting for those toys you call weapons!"

Prehnite sneered, eying his opponent with a heated glare, he would hate himself for this later he was sure, picking a fight over something so little. Daring to suffer injury's for his lack of experience in such things.. He was better though, and he knew it, even if this beast defeated him, Prehnite would always be better in some way! More poised, more brilliant, more elegant, so what if the oaf had a physical advantage? It just meant he was a greater challenge, a better tool for Prehnite to sharpen his skills against; someone to be used and nothing more.

"Lower then what, your IQ? I should give you a treat for being so clever with your use of 'princess' insults." That sharp tongued b*****d, Prehnite wanted to tell him to 'suck his trowel' but that would have been low-brow, in poor taste even.

Prehnites ice colored eyes going wide a moment later, a pain filled yelp drawn from him as the sharp boots cut through his pants and into his shin before taking his legs out from under him. Prehnite found himself sprawled out, hurting and angry, deciding on a last ditch effort he shoved himself up to his knees from his prone position and chucked his trusty trowel at Esperite.

Stupid? Yes, but he was to upset to think straight, too upset even to notice the distant rustling and voices of children calling for their father.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 03, 2010 4:57 pm

The verbal and physical battle between the two young lieutenants came to a screeching halt. The small metal gardening tool caught Esperite across the right side of the neck and the shallow cut let out a small stream of blood to confirm the injury. A gloved hand quickly covered the small wound. His face twisted in anger as his crimson eyes filled with rage. He despised being touched much less being injured by such a cheap shot. He was going to tear this jerk a new one and do so slowly. Nothing made him feel like less of a man than defeat, no matter how small. Sure, he had the upper hand for a portion of their fight, but the playing field was starting to even out and Esperite was going to allow anything to take him down.

However, as he was about to retaliate and use his plastic daggers in new and disturbing ways, he was sorely interrupted by the scream that pierced through the mountain air and shook the dense pine forest. The camper's wife had walked in with her three children. Frozen in fear and disbelief, the remains of the camping family had delivered themselves to the Negaverse, it couldn't have been nicer if they had wrapped themselves up in a bow. Their eyes widened and their bodies trembling. Obviously, they were to shaken to understand why their father was on the ground and how two young men, though oddly dressed, had ended his life. Esperite imagined they had so many questions, yet so little time. A rarity to be sure and not to mention a first for him. He had never found himself staring into the eyes of a victim's family. In short, they had company or more precisely, a captive audience.

"Looks like the honeymoon is over."

He quickly, but calmly grabbed the other lieutenant's weapon and pulled him to his feet. Before turning to face the family, he made sure Prehnite was able to stand and then when he was satisfied with his assessment, he returned the trowel and gave him a nod. He wasn't sure what kind of damage his boots had done, but there wasn't time for that now. They had bigger fish to fry.

"I hope you are still up for this after our little introduction."

Truth be told, Esperite was in quite a bit of pain himself. His shoulder and arm still hurt. He couldn't confirm that the bleeding had stopped nor he could he say how much damage his arm had suffered. He honestly would have considered going home after the fight and leaving the family for another day at least. However, fate had intervened and guaranteed him more than one starseed for the night.

Prehnite had the audacity to snicker at Esperite's concern, how sweet of him to care now that the prize was at hand! Probably feigned caring at that, not that Prehnite gave a damn. Here the rest of the family had come to them, no muss no fuss, standing there like sheep before the wolves frozen in complete and utter terror. The look's on their faces were priceless, really the only thing that could have made it better would have been if they'd had a camera with them to capture it all..well that and if he'd been pain free. That would have made it absolutely perfect! This was probably a close second to that..

Prehnite grudgingly accepted the help up, gripping his weapon tightly in his right hand as his gaze shifted briefly from the mother and children over to his enemy turned accomplice. "Am I still up for it?" Prehnite managed a grin, the annoying sting of defeat, the throbbing in his leg, it all seemed to melt away for a few beautiful moments in the face of his catch. "Come now sweetheart, I'm more then up for it, in fact injured as I am, I imagine I can still do better then you can."

He would hate himself in the morning for sure, go home, curl up, lick his poor wounded pride, which truly hurt him more then any other damage Mr. Matador could have inflicted on him. Right now though, there were starseeds to be had. That one glittering beautiful object that made such worthless pieces of flesh worth dealing with. Really what else were people good for except harvesting?

"Now my beauties, if you'll all stay still for us, we'll make this gentle on you..Won't we Mr. Matador?" Reed's dark grin proved his words were a lie more then anything else, generously offering Esperite first go, ready to be on his heels and after the first little sheep that squealed.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 8:36 pm

"To be quite honest, I don't plan on dragging this out too long. Children annoy me and well, your petrified little monsters are just plain disgusting. I mean really lady, who wants to see those horrendous little things mess everything up? You are just too lucky that I am doing the four of you a favor."

The crimson eyed lieutenant turned to his sparring partner and then wrenched the first child's starseed out. He didn't even have to knock the child unconscious, it was simply that easy. The family was frozen in fear. The only noise they had really made was the initial shriek that had interrupted Esperite's assured victory. Three starseeds remained intact as Esperite turned to his newfound partner in crime. Their alliance was new and trust had not been established. However, Esperite already had the father's starseed and he wasn't so selfish as to take all of them. Well, he actually was, but now wasn't the time to be greedy. He would get his fill tonight.

"Thank you for first pick, I'll keep guard while you take your fill."

He made a welcoming gesture with his arm as if he was inviting a child to a room full of presents. Twisted and cruel, this wasn't too far from Esperite's thought process. Sure the wrapping paper was different, but all the same, they were essentially presents for the Negaverse.
