Slice. Slice. Slice. G'brel hummed softly to herself as she finished peeling her second tubber. Now to chop the two of them into some smaller slices. Chop. Chop. Chop. Chop. Chop. Chop. Chop.
Lifth watched idly as His worked, laying contently in a spot that was out of the way while still being within visual range. The whole process that His was going through bemused him a bit, and he really wasn't sure why she had insisted on cooking her own meal today. Oh well, more quite time for him at least. (Well, quieter than their bunk that was.) Isn't that a bit much for only yourself? he asked, eying the small pile of sliced tubers.
"You mean you don't want a taste?" she teased back jokingly. Although she was only half joking really. Anything she couldn't eat she would likely be offering to the growing blue as a small 'snack' of sorts. "Hm, where are those onions... Ah, here they are." It had been far too long since she had had the chance to come to the kitchens and experiment around on her own. She was overdue for some cooking.

It was a compromise of sorts. A certain bronze had heard several drudges talking about a desert, a pie of some sort or other. Immediately he'd wanted to try it. When the subject was broached to his rider, S'kor was firm. Spices or the treat, but not both. The treat had won out and the bronze had eaten his meat plain.
Now young man was being shoved into the kitchens forcibly from behind. He seemed disgruntled and amused at the same time. "Pushy dragon," he muttered under his breath. When he saw the blue in here as well he stopped, or tried too. "Scarath! Let off will you?"
Scarath peeked his head around his rider to look into the kitchen. 'Oh hello Lifth! What are you doing in here?' He was pleased he'd have company today and his eyes whorled a happy green. Moving away from His, he went to sit by the blue. S'kor had finally gotten him trained to move out of the way of traffic. Kitchen staff did not approve of a bronze trying to help or sample.

Lifth looked over at the entrance as the rider was being pushed inside by his dragon and was certainly amused by the sight. Hello, Scarath, he greeted back easily. Mine has decided that she is in the mood to cook. He himself was rather indifferent on the matter, personally preferring his meals fresh and unseasoned. But hey, to each their own.
G'brel too looked over at the two when the bronzerider spoke, and she had to suppress a small giggle at the scene. "Hello, S'kor," she greeted with a smile. "Come to make something, or just grabbing a snack?"

S'kor cleared his throat slightly in embarrassment that the other rider had seen that. "G'brel... uh, hi." He moved over to start gather the stuff he'd need. "Well a little of both. I still need to eat." He brought the ingredients to a clear spot near the blue rider. "I'll be happy when he cant fit any more in here."
S'kor rolled his eyes. "He wont let me leave until I make him something." A small rumble from the bronze cut his words off. "Alright, a pie." Sigh. "He over heard some of the drudges I guess and wanted to try what they were talking about. Since the cook didn't approve of his sampling last time, he's ask me to do it this time.
Scarath had to give a rumble to remind His exactly what his 'something' was suppose to be. That settled he turned back to the blue. 'Mine enjoys cooking too. It is nice to have company. The cooks don't usually like me in here.'

"A pie, eh?" G'brel replied as she started to chop up her onion. "Sounds like our dragon has quite the sweet tooth. Hm, I haven't actually tried experimeting with any baked goods myself." Most of her cooking was only with normal meals. She didn't trust herself to not screw up a pie or pastry of some sort. Also, the root she was chopping was begining to make her grow a bit misty-eyed. Ugh. Stupid plant. Oh well. At least it tasted good.
You come in here often then? Lifth asked, looking over the bronze curiously. It'll be a bit of a tight squeeze before long you know. Actually, he himself probaly woldn't fit in here after a bit, and the bronze was already much larger. He had to wonder how he managed the doorway.

"Oh, that he does. The pasty chef was livid when he got into her dainties for the Weyrwoman." He shook his head at the memory. "So every time now he hears of something new, he wants me to come in here and make one for him. Not that I blame him, but well..." He glanced at the bronze while starting to prepare stuff.
"I do this and that. I'm more interested in the spices and the way the interact together and react to different cooking methods." S'kor quickly made up the dough to be the crust and started shaping it.
'Oh yes. Mine brings me here a lot, or maybe I bring him. Either way, he makes me something tasty to try. Like today, I hear two drudges talking about a pie. Of course, I should taste test it. So here we are.' Scarath heaved a great sigh, causing several of the workers in the kitchen to glance towards them. 'I know. I will be sad when I cannot. I wont be able to get anything fresh from the ovens.' For the bronze it was already a rather tight squeeze. He'd never tell His, though. Where there was determination there was a way.

Lifth was eying the doorway and the bronze beside him. No, these ventures definitely would not be lasting for much longer. I see. Perhaps it is for the best. I do not believe the workers appreciate us being in here very much. Indeed, the only reason he was really even present along with his was because this place (had) afforded him more privacy. That and His seemed to be planning to use him to take care of any leftovers. Whatever.
"I can only imagine," G'brel replied when he told her of his dragon getting into the Weyrwoman's food. That can't have been pretty. It was somewhat amusing to here though that the rider had basically become his dragon's personal chef. It was a good thing he knew how to cook. "Can't say that I blame you, the right blend of spices can be quite delicious." She had moved on from chopping onion to chopping a green vegetable of some sort. "Any favorite recipes in particular?"

With the dough neatly pressed into the mold and ready for the filling it was set aside. S'kor turned to pull a bowl and a mixture of berries to him. He nodded, "Yes it can. I've noticed that the same blends will change subtlety in different cooking techniques." Mixing the berries together, he pulled several spices from his pouches to add in.
He glanced over at her and started to laugh. A deep hearty laugh, but not at her. "Oh aye! Anything sweet. He's got the worst sweet tooth I've ever seen."
'For the best? I don't know about that. Oh yes, the workers do need room....' The bronze sounded reluctant about that. He really didn't take up that much room did he? 'Why are you here Lifth? Is Your's making you treats too?' If he was lucky, maybe the blue would share. Of course, if he did, then Scarath would also have to share.... Oh choices choices.

"I meant any favorite recipes for yourself, silly," she replied with a grin, amused by his show of amusement. "Good to know about Scarath though. Perhaps I should start experimenting with sweeter things sometime."
The blue shook his head. No, the food is for herself. I believe she's preparing a bit more than she can eat, however, so I will likely be finishing off the extra. Lifth didn't appear particularly enthused either way. Although you are more than welcome to it yourself if you would like. I'm mostly here for the peace. And while the bronze was far less annoying than this green bunkmate, it seemed that alone time was now over once again. Alas.

S'kor seemed abashed as he misunderstood what she was referring to. "Oh. I can't really think of any. Being its the spices I'm interested in.... every recipe has spices....so... I like them all." Not very helpful he supposed. Privately he hadn't ever considered having a favorite. Wasn't it always best to try new things?
Slowly he mixed the berries and spices together. "If you do, he'll be your friend for life." He snorted, implying the dragon could be won by his stomach. Well he probably could. Taking his time to do as little damage them as he could. It was rather relaxing to be in the kitchens. No pressure, or oiling dragon hide. He took a deep breath.
Scarath crooned. 'I will take your share if you don't want it.' He looked at his fellow dragon funnily. 'There is peace here? The chefs are so annoying... how could it be more peaceful here than say... by the lake or your bunk?'

Liking different things wasn't bad, so the teen simply simpled when S'kor said he liked everything. She was amused at what he said about his dragon though. "Oh? Well then, that settles it. I must learn how to cook sweet things." By this point she had finished chopping up and mixing all of her choice herbs and vegetables, and after adding in a few small chunks of meat she dumped all of the ingredients in a pan to grill on the fire.
By the lake there is often mud, and in my bunk there is my bunkmate, he answered simply, as if those reasons explained everything. It may be a touch busy here, but the kitchen workers often leave me to my own. He was just the young quite blue lounging in the far off corner after all, so they really had no reason to bother him. Unlike Sleeth, who seemed to be under the odd impression that they were 'friends' and that any opportunity not spent chatting or singing was a wasted one.

S'kor was slightly surprised when she said she'd learn to cook sweets. Was she trying to steal his bronze away? No, no that couldn't be. Scarath was his, and she had her own dragon. He glanced toward the two dragons. Lifth wouldn't get jealous of the attention for the bronze would he? "Ah, thank you. I'm sure he'll enjoy the extra sweets."
Sensing his rider's thoughts, Scarath turned his head towards S'kor. 'Mine, why are you worried? She could not draw me away from you for all the sweets in the Weyr.' He crooned lovingly. His lips twitched at his dragon's comment. The berries and spices were properly mixed. Pulling the pan over, S'kor started to spoon the berry mix in. Once the filling was settled the top dough for the crust was put on.
He turned back to the blue after reassuring His. 'But the mud is cool. Do you not like your bunkmate? Mine does not bother me.' The cooks really didn't appreciate him down here. Particularly when he took to taste testing their trays.

No, G'brel had absolutely no intention of trying to steal S'kor's dragon away from him. She wouldn't trade her Lifth for any other dragon in the world, but she still loved almost all dragons in general. The fact that Scarath had such a sweet tooth simply amused her for the most part. "Hehe, that might take a while yet. For know I'm just sticking with what I know."
Mine, I think you are making Scarath's uncomfortable, Lifth remarked to his rider privately, having been observing the two while they spoke and noting the way the bronzerider had been regarding her. Not everyone may feel comfortable with having Their's spoiled by others.
Oh shush, you. The sweets would be just as much for me as for anyone else, G'brel answered simply, shaking the pan up a bit as it hovered over the flames. I love sugar just as much as the next person.
I realize that, but others may not. The blue turned his attention back to the larger male. She is nice, but... a bit too exuberant for my tolerance. It didn't help that the green seemed to be under the impression that they were actually friends and not merely bunkmates.

He gave a slow, deep chuckle. "Well when you're first experiments come out, Scarath is an excellent taste-tester." He rolled his eyes in mock amusement. "Though, there's nothing wrong with what you know either."
The pie was complete. All it needed now was a good cooking. He checked the oven for temperature before putting the pie in. When it came to cooking, he had a certain pride in it, though he was certain Scarath wouldn't mind a little burnt flavor.
With half his mind, he looked around for something else to do. It just seemed awkward to be standing there talking to G'brel. Leaving the area didn't seem like a good idea either.
'Exuberant? How so?' He was curious as to how one dragon could be over-exuberant to another.

"I'll keep that in mind then," she replied with a smile, continuing the grilling process. Unlike the bronzerider, she didn't feel at all awkward about standing around and chatting about random things while their food cooked. Although it probably helped that her meal would be finished a lot sooner than a pie would. "Hey, getting excited for flying lessons yet?" she asked with a grin, looking back over her shoulder at the other. Their dragons had been learning how to fly on their own now, so it would only be a matter of time once they could join them in the air. It was a time that she herself looked greatly forward to.
Energetic, talkative, call it what you will, he replied. I look forward to private Weyrs.
