It's now official! Saban Brands has updated www.powerrangers.com with 2011's newest set of rangers. Straight from Japan, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger is now Power Rangers Samurai! Let's meet our new Ranger team: http://heropower.livejournal.com/209316.htmlThe latest update though has come in the way of the names of our Ranger team: Red Ranger - Reese ---> Jayden Blue Ranger - Baron ---> Kevin Green Ranger - Parry ---> Mike Yellow Ranger - Ava ---> Emily Pink Ranger - Sadie ---> Mia I think the name change was not needed, as the names were fine as is, but eh whatever Saban wants to do with the series. Here is the storyline for Power Rangers Samurai: (Taken directly from the official Power Ranger's website) A new generation of Power Rangers must master the mystical and ancient Samurai Symbols of Power which give them control over the elements of Fire, Water, Sky, Forest, and Earth. Under the guidance of their all-knowing mentor and the aid of their devoted animal Zords, they battle the dark forces of the Netherworld and a mysterious Warrior bent on destruction. Welcome to the USA, Power Rangers Samurai!

i can already see some issues arise from this. granted it might be a good series but well...they might loose alot of things in transfering shinkenger to this. I just hope its not too bad.

Isn't there a thread already on this? Oh well, I'll make this the official one since the other is dead. 3nodding
I'm praying that they (Saban) does Shinkenger justice. The Kanji thing alone could make or break the series. Yet, I'll play it by ear for now. 3nodding

I have a feeling that Saban may take a little bit from what Disney did with Ninja Storm. Granted they pretty much got Ninja Storm down to a "T" when compared to Hurricanger, despite the main villain. So this leads me to believe they will use as much as they can from Shinkenger, just minus some of the more Japanese influenced parts.

I'm not liking some of the names they changed from.
The only one i'm liking from the new list is Jayden, Reese just seems to Friends. lol

Like us here at henshin imperium, there are others who love japanese stuff and prefer to keep them like their original counterparts instead of being altered to suit the masses just because they prefer to not educate themselves on another culture.

There are some children who would LOVE to learn about another culture, if only a just a little. If the show is to watered down or whatever, then it give the wrong impression. Edit: It's not always the kids or the parents fault. Companies and regulations are also a factor. The perfect example is 4Kids.

Some parents and companies would rather not have the children learn new things for fear of some not likeing what they are learning. Its sad realy. Well i will tell you this much..when i have children i will make sure they learn about as many different cultures as i do..and i know alot hehe

there are somethings also that can't be potrayed here, like some of those stupid japanese jokes no one gets... not even them. But primarily is this conservative view on television that kids are retards and should be kept as such or the parents will have problems controlling them, as they will vary too much from the norm.

Saban is required to do well with this series, or it is back to the dumpster for him...
