User ImageSitara peered around herself, she'd been exploring and had somehow gotten herself caught in this dense forest. She barely had room to stretch her wings, let alone get enough momentum to launch herself out of here. Feeling a little claustophobic, Sitara snarled at the bushes around her and set fire to one of them in spite.

Feeling a stab of remorse from her Phim instincts, Sitara stamped out the fire with muttered curses. "There has got to be some way out of this Diety-forsaken forest." She grumbled. Forging ahead, she made sure to crash through the underbrush, hoping to attract some fox for directions. She was too proud to call 'help', but luring someone over...that was right up her alley.

((I assume this is the Sitara/Dakari rp. If not I will blush profusely and hide in a corner XD ))

"Keep stampeding, I'm pretty sure there are some foxes all the way by the ocean who haven't heard you yet." The fox who called out this impertient reply revealed himself.

Dakari wiggled out from a clump of bushes several yards ahead of the path the female was winding through the forest, yawning and looking slightly miffed as though he'd been sleeping. Which he had, and it had been a very nice nap until all the inconsiderate noise.

Once he got a clear look at the interloper, an mischievous smile crossed his face. Daevas were famous for their tempers. He also knew that Daevas and Phims didn't turn up in Cruor lands all that often, the thick trees making flight impossible unless they could climb. The lucky ones managed to find their way out of the thick forest, the less fortunate stumbled into the clearing that was the heart of the Cruor tribe.

"Do you require assistance," Dakari asked, smirking a little. He allowed his eyes to roam over the female. She was in good physcial shape and had pretty markings. He did have some respect for the winged foxes, feeling that a winged predator was capable of greater power than a grounded one. It kept him interested, at least.

Sitara glanced over the fox that seemed to pop right out of the surrounding foliage with disdain. He was very white, though he did have lots of purple on him as well...and she did like purple. Still, he had a smart mouth and she glared at him, swishing her tail in irritation.

Her Deava side urged her to thrash the insolent little fox, but her Phim half and, if she was being honest with herself, her common sense told her to shut up and accept the help. When he asked her if she needed assistance, she twitched at his tone and his smirk, but once again calmed herself. It really wouldn't do to drive off a fox that seemed to be comfortable here, a fox that most likely knew of a way out. She crouched down a little, trying to make herself smaller and, in so doing, giving herself more room. If she didn't get somewhere where she could stretch her wings, she wouldn't be held responsible for her actions.

"Assistance would be...useful." She ground out. It really did hurt her pride to ask for help, but the too tight feel of the trees around her was making her antsy. Trees were fine in their own right, but really now, this forest was ridiculous. She spared a quick glare at the surrounding trees. "I seem to be--" she refused to say the word 'lost', "misplaced in my sense of direction."

"Ah. Around here, we call that being lost," Dakari said, flicking his tail. He approached the female, head slightly lowered and sniffing the air. Something was pulling at the back of his mind when he looked at the female, like she was familar somehow.

He slowly circled her, wary of the wings on her back. He knew those delicate-looking things could deliver a painful blow, and even in this confined space she'd still manage a hit on him. "I shall guide you to less dense forest, then you're on your own. As I doubt you'll want to pass through a hostile tribe base, we'll go to the edge of this giant thicket. A slightly longer walk, but much less annoying bugs to buzz about your presence."

Dakari finished circling the vixen. He tilted his head to looked at her face, sky-blue eyes curious. "You seem familiar. Have we met before?"

Sitara drew herself up to her full hieght and glared down at the fox. "I am not lost. I know exactly where I am. I am in a Diety forsaken forest that should be burned down around your impudent ears." She grumbled, trying to turn and keep him in sight. She was forced to hold still or do a silly shuffle that her pride wouldn't allow. She was already lost, after all.

His offer to help was a mixed blessing. For one thing, she could get out of this cramped space. On the other hand, she seemed to be having a large aversion to be appearing weak or needy in front of this fox. Her tail twitched in irritation at her own thoughts as the fox reappeared in front of her.

She was about to agree to go the longer route when his question caught her a bit off guard. Familiar? Now that he mentioned it...he looked familiar too. Someone she met in passing maybe. Ignoring boundrys and weather the fox would want her close or not, she lowered her muzzle enough to brush his fur and inhaled his scent quickly.

She retreated to her own space, vague memories coming back to her. "I think we have met. I think..." she frowned, trying to remember, "I think you helped me tick off my younger brother. He didn't like you for some reason. Don't remember why." She shifted slightly, letting her wings rustle a little. "I didn't have wings when I was a kit, that help?"

Dakari held still when the female leaned forward to sniff him, body relaxed. He was more than confident that in this thick forest he could dodge if she tried to attck. It might have been overconfidence, but even among regular modi's the purple and white fox was quick. He liked to think that compared to Daevas and Phims, with their bulky wings and larger body mass, he was even quicker, on land at least.

As she sniffed him he couldn't help a small quip. "We aren't deity-forsaken around here. We actually have two. Not that you'd know it, for all that one of them hides. The other isn't nice, not at all." He grinned a little, showing sharp teeth, a predator's smile. After a moment his expression relaxed back into it's calm (and bored) mask, and he waited as the female pulled back, done sniffing, and settled herself.

The female described a piece of potentially shared past. Dakari's eyes glazed over, as they often did when he went deep into his mind in search of memories. His kit memories were hard to recall, especially anything outside of Cruor.

There! A speckly kit, one that looked like the night sky crashed down on her coat. The kit appeared like a normal fox, not any bigger or smaller and no wings. A skinny tail, female. In the background another kit of similar marking with a bushy tail stood, glaring. He recalled sharp teeth and childish arguing, but couldn't remember for the life if him what was said. He couldn't descern which kit went with the memory of sharp teeth; perhaps it was both of them. The male was the one he had argued with though, he was sure of it. What had they been arguing about?

Dakari resurfaced from his mind, shaking his head slightly and though shaking off water. "It's possible. It's all very vague, but the pattern seems about right. There was another kit as well, possibly this brother you speak of. Both of you looked quite normal back then though."

"Two dieties? They didn't do a good job placing the trees." Sitara replied, looking at the forest again. His tiny teeth didn't phase her. Smaller and maybe even quicker he may be, but she had thick fur and fire. Speaking of her fire... "Maybe I should remove a few of these trees as a favor to your dieties. Maybe show them how trees should be properly placed." Sitara allowed her fire to flare a bit, though not enough to actually set anything on fire.

Sitara nodded her head in agreement when he mentioned herself and her brother looking normal as kits. "Yes, we were rather wingless as kits. I don't think we could ever have been described as 'normal'. We are half Phim and half Deava, our wings didn't grow in until recently." She shrugged, she didn't mind her odd geneology except when her Phim tendancies peeked through a bit too much.

"Now. You said something about getting out into the open." Sitara pointed out. "Are you going to lead the way? Or do I have to bungle into your tribe?" She asked. Realizing that she sounded much too snappish, she wrinkled her nose. "By the way, I'm Sitara, since I'm sure you don't remember my name. Kits have horrible memories."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 26, 2010 10:56 am

Dakari snorted when Sitara suggested to burn down a few trees. "I wouldn't do that if I were you. Unless you're imperviously to all fire. You'd be cooked alive before an opening big enough for you was cleared."

He turned, flicking his tail in a gesture that indictated Sitara was to follow him. "My name is Dakari. And I wouldn't say kits have terrible memories. It's just what's important to them seems silly to us." Dakari had several clear memories as a kit, so this seemed likely to him.

"Yes...that did cross my mind." Sitara replied, amusement dripping from her tone. "Being roasted is just as bad as being caged. Maybe even a little worse." She started after the smaller fox, moving sinuously to avoid rustling as much of the vegitation as she could. Her father was a hunter for his tribe, and he'd taught her how not to make noise...even if she had completely ignored those teachings earlier.

Finally she was getting out of this ridiculously packed forest. "Why?" She asked, suddenly. "Why would a tribe set themselves up here? It seems a little constricting, doesn't it? I understand you are smaller than me, but isn't it hard to hunt in all of this?"
PostPosted: Sun Sep 26, 2010 11:53 am

"Not always," Dakari replied, still watching the forest ahead of him. He glanced back at Sitara. "Small animals are usually plentiful here, since the thick trees are good cover from hunting birds and large predators. Lots of hiding places. That's the same reason does and fawns come to this area."

Dakari was silent for a minute, listening to small creatures rustle through the woods. "As for the rest of it, you'd have to ask Sin. He's the tribe Elder. I was simply born here."

"Mmm, I suppose if you're used to it, it would be easy to hunt. I'm going to take a wild guess and say you don't have any Deavas or Phims in your tribe, do you?" Sitara asked. Now she would have a hard time hunting. Her favorite way to take down her prey was from above...which just leant credence to Dakari's statement about protection from arial hunters. But with all the hiding places, it would be hard to even catch a rabbit, it could disappear down it's burrow quickly.

Still, now that she had the promise of more open spaces, she could look at the forest and see the beauty in it. She felt slightly guilty for wanting to burn the place down too. "Sin?" She smirked. "I like that name. Is he a good Elder?"
PostPosted: Sun Sep 26, 2010 12:32 pm

"Actually," Dakari started, a wicked grin that Sitara couldn't see spreading over his face, "one of our tribe carers is a Daeva. I haven't met her mate yet, but I've seen him. He's a Phim." He wasn't sure if they had any other winged foxes in the tribe, since they were still a scattered bunch.

He had to take a moment to think up a proper answer for Sitara's other question. "Sin is....unusual. He's very much like a Daeva, actually. He's very protective of the tribe, likes to know what's going on."

'He'll be a tad upset that I won't tell him about Sitara, but it shouldn't be a problem as long as she never comes back after this,' Dakari thought. He felt his face crease into a frown, and wondered why. Was it the thought of never getting to meet Sitara again? He did have to admit she was interesting to talk to.

A large fallen tree loomed up in their path. Dakari could easily wiggle under it. He turned on the path and peered back through the gap. Now that he could see, Sitara probably wouldn't fit. "You might have to go over, unless you like getting close and personal with grubs and leave litter."

Sitara blinked and grinned, "You allow a Deava to take care of kits?" She asked, wondering what kind of tribe this was. He father hadn't really done any 'raising'...except for hunting. Tsuna and she were lucky that the carer for her Papa's tribe was their 'uncle' Kito. "And mated to a Phim? She must be quite the odd Deava. At least, according to my father."

Sitara chuckled lightly at Dakari describing Sin as similar to a Deava. The only Deava she really had to go off of was her Papa and if Sin was anything like her father...Dakari was gonna be in trouble for not taking her to meet Sin. "Well, at least he's protective. I doubt it would be a very good thing if you had an Elder that didn't care much about his tribe."

Sitara watched Dakari wiggle under a log in their way and immediately realized she wasn't going to fit. She eyed the open space above the log to make sure she had enough room to pull this maneuver off. "No, I'd rather not. I don't mind getting dirty if the situation calls for it...but this one does not." She said. Sitara leaned back on her haunches, bunching the muscles in her powerful back legs. She spread her wings out just enough to help her balance, but not enough to get caught in any branches and leapt into the air, sailing neatly over the log and landing just to the right of Dakari.

Dakari snorted. "Show-off," he declared, meaning Sitara's jumping over the log rather than on top of it then off it. He shook himself to get rid of any debris that might be in his coat frmo his own excursion with the log, then set back off on the trail.

They hadn't been going far when he stopped. The ground ahead was covered in curling patches of plants. They looked innocent, like soft footing, but Dakari knew better. "Try not to step on those, they're full of prickers," he warned Sitara, tapping on of them lightly with his paw so she knew which plant he meant.

The agile fox began to weave through the patches, taking advantage of every bare spot they had left to the ground. It was much like crossing a river using giant rocks for stepping stones.

Sitara smirked down at her companion; she had been showing off a little. For some reason she wanted Dakari to notice her, though the reason was eluding her for the moment. Shaking her head at herself, Sitara continued following after the other fox before having a thought.

"You thought that was showing off? Just wait till we get somewhere more open and I can show you a lot better moves than jumping over a log." She said, thinking of a couple of maneuvers she could show him. Though...that would mean she'd have to leave after that...and she didn't really want to leave Dakari just yet.

When Dakari pointed out the innocuous looking plants, Sitara bent to study them, wrinkling her snout a little. She'd probably have stepped right on that and gotten stickers in her paw. Sitara would not have been pleseant to be around if that had happened. She watched Dakari slither through the plants, showing her a stickerless path to take and she weaved through the plants after him, trying to put her paws where he'd already gone. Surprisingly, she was starting to have fun; she'd always liked to explore and Sitara was enjoying being around Dakari.
