I haven't written a short story in over 8 months, until a friend decided to get me to write one, this one took me no longer than 20 minutes. It's not rushed, I just don't take long to write.

Feedback will be loved.;

Kame's last friend.

"She hasn't got long, you know." Spoke the inn keeper, speaking of his daughter who laid in a bed residing in the room behind him. He stood blocking the entrance as he spoke to a large, armored male. "The alchemist's say she won't last the night, her illness has become too serious." A disheartened emotion conveying through the words of the man.
"Can I tell her a final story?" The armored man asks. The girl who laid in her death bed, Lirum, was too ill to leave the inn her father ran, so would always bug travelers as tehy came to stay, asking them about what the world outside is like. She would always ask in that cute way "Is it pretty? What do the flowers look like? how does the sea breeze feel? Is it pretty? Is it beautiful outside?" and when they would leave she wouldn't let them leave until they promised to return with more stories for her. Upon leaving she would stand in the door, waving with a content smile until their persona's disappeared into the distance.

That was back when she was well enough to move, even though the illness slowly ate away at her remaining time within her body, she still skipped around with such happiness on her features, such innocence.
"I just have one more story to tell her." The armored man spoke out. He was a mercenary who used to visit often between missions, telling her of the stories of the flowers blooming in the fields, the sea crashing against the boats he had been on.
"Alright." The inn keeper gave in, allowing the armored man entrance. The room was cold, the chill overpowering even for someone so battle hardened. He would calmly move beside the bed, the small child laid with her eyes closed, he breathing shallow, and her skin pale. "It's me again, Lirum." he would speak out, a soft smile over his lips, even though she could not see him. Her small frame twitched, a sting of pain as she simply smiled to hearing his voice once more, her dry lips trembled apart as she strained to speak.
"Kame.." She spoke out softly, she seemed happy that he was here, before twitching back into a still silence.
"I was out at sea this time." Kame would begin. "It was beautiful. The sea was soft and sweet, nothing but a beautiful endless blue, as far as the eye could see." He would only tell her the beautiful things, he would never mention what he did, or about the horrors of mankind killing one another, only the beauty of the places he visited during his travels. "The sun glimmering off the waves looked like diamonds, they shined and dazzled, they looked perfectly clean, clear." The Inn keeper would be standing in the doorway, before moving to the opposite side of the bed, kneeling down before his only child. He gave Kame a soft nod, before he continued. "You would've loved to see the fish, the sea was so clear we could see them, swimming around us with their colours, blue, red, green, even some were yellow." he would pause, the young female's breathing became slower, she was coming to the end of her time.

"Don't be afraid." Kame spoke out, reaching his right hand over to gently press against the female's shoulder. "You'll be leaving soon, to discover the world for yourself. You can see the fields of flowers, you'll get to see the snow topped mountains, even the wide sea." Kame would look down on her for a moment, in silence. "We'll meet again. I promise you." The female remained silent, and still. "Maybe then you can tell me stories of the world's beauty." At that moment Kame would fall silent, he himself was an immortal. He could no die. Even if this seemed like a lie to him, it gave the small female hope. "I'll be joining you soon. We can explore the world together." He continued. "We can feel the soft ocean breeze. We can smell the flowers that have just bloomed." The air became colder, Kame's eyelids slowly coming to a close. A tremble overcoming his skilled body as he gazed to the young female's features. "Come find me, when you're exploring, and don't forget to tell me your stories." The female would remain still, her chest stopped moving up and down, her body had fallen victim to her illness. Kame looked to the Inn keeper, who's eyes were breaking out in tears, with one last glance to Lirum, she had a soft smile, that same smile of excitement she had everytime Kame would be approaching the Inn. That same expression she had when Kame told her his stories.

She had finally left the Inn, to witness the beauty of the world for her own eyes this time.
