So far it was shaping up to be a dull day. The sky was a dim gray, and though there was no sign of rain at that moment, Yasen was sure that it would come sooner or later. A slight ache in his scars often told him of oncoming bad weather. As he walked along the thorn barrier, he kept stopping to rub at them with a front paw.

Yasen's mood was beginning to reflect the weather. He had been woken up much too early by a weird scuffling sound near the barrier, and had discovered a bear sniffing around for food. He had watched it warily for a while, wondering if she should go look for help, when it gave up it's search and wandered off. Then Yasen had tried to go back sleep, but his infernal scars...

The imposing male let out a sigh and once again got up to pace his little patch of thorns. He almost found himself wishing the bear would come back, just to give him something to do.

She couldn't sit still today. The usually quiet, stoic female was wandering restlessly; her movements not fluid as they usually would be. Her tail and ears flicked nervously as she listened to the sounds of birds and other animals scurrying about. Bianca knew she should hunt, to practice like her mothers told her too, but she didn't feel like it. Maybe it was the promise of rain, or the fact she'd just gotten into an argument with her mother, Willow, about her socializing skills.

The brown, black and white female hardly knew anyone besides her family. Her sisters knew a great deal more about the inner workings of the pack than she did, but she knew more about what was going on outside their pack. That is what caused her to go off walking. She wasn't exactly looking for someone to talk to, but it wouldn't be unwelcome if she ran across someone else. Bright eyes looked to the dim sky with a little sigh.

She hoped it rained soon. Movement caught her attention, and her head turned to look at what it was. A male... with a missing ear. She saw him from behind, pacing. Who was this male? She'd seen him before, talking to her mothers from time to time. But a name wouldn't come to her mind. So she shifted to the side, hoping he would see her from his peripheral vision.

Yasen was beginning to feel like he would create a rut in the earth from pacing in the same spot. Not that it helped him watch for danger... It was just a way to burn energy. Realizing this, he stopped and stood there for a moment, idly swishing his tail to and fro. He didn't see Bianca, she was on the wrong side...

But he heard the pawsteps. Without thinking Yasen whipped around and growled, the fur on his neck beginning to bristle. A female, not yet full grown... Realizing that she must be in the pack, and not only that, one of the Alpha's daughters, his single eye widened in surprise and he lowered his head towards her in apology.

Oh the powers that be, the markings on her tail looked so much like Willow's! He gulped nervously before speaking. "Sorry miss, you took me by surprise. No harm done, right?" He looked up again, his good side towards her, and forced a smile.

When the male turned and growled, her own fur bristled, but she did not return the throaty noise. Instead, she watched him take in her form, realize who she was, and settle down almost all at once. She shook herself to smooth her own fur back down and her ears flicked this way and that. Then she took in his form. His scars, missing ear, and the way he moved all spoke to her of a hard, pain filled life before he came to this pack.

Then he spoke, and her interest was piqued again. "No harm, no foul. I did not mean to sneak up on you." She shifted from paw to paw, trying to not appear so restless. It was an utter failure. What was his name? It was on the tip of her tongue, but her mind failed to catch up with her. Miss. He had called he miss out of respect, but it made her feel a bit odd.

"You do not have to call me miss... Just Bianca is fine," she murmured to him, slowly stepping closer.

Yasen was staring a little more openly that he meant to. Oh, Bianca looked a lot like Willow at that age... He could still remember it like it was yesterday. That had been... Two? Three seasons ago? Time passed quickly. But there were differences in her too. It must have been the influence of their father. He had never spoken to Anoop, though the wolves occasionally crossed paths as they went about their business. He looked down at the ground.

"Miss... Bianca," He repeated, reluctant to drop the miss too soon. "I am Yasen." He looked up again and gave her a little smile. "Well, since we are here... Is there anything I can do for you?" He seemed to relax as he spoke. Maybe he could offer her a helping paw to make up for his behaviour. "The border appears to be clear," he added with a small nod.

Yasen. That was his name. No wonder he looked so familiar. Her ears flicked a bit and she shifted from paw to paw. Things were appearing to be awkward. Something was amiss here, and Bianca wanted to know what it was. Certainly the scared wolf should have been more confident in himself. He looked intimidating enough. But here he was, looking unsure and ready to bolt because of her. It made her feel bad for approaching him.

A frown appeared on her face as she listened to him, noticing the waver in his voice and his nervous glances. What did she say to the border being clear? Bianca took a step back, giving him space, wanting him to relax. ".....I do not really need help with anything. .....I just... was out. Trying.. to get to know ...the whole pack." She felt lame talking. Bianca knew she didn't have very much practice with it, but maybe she could actually talk to this one.

Yasen turned his good side towards her, his gaze softening a little. Bianca was clearly nervous too. The way she spoke told him she wasn't too experienced with talking to others... Maybe she had inherited some of her mother's shyness? If any nervousness lingered in Yasen's body language, it was gone now. There was always something about docile or timid females that made him want to help them. Despite his scars, he tended to be a bit of a softie on the inside.

"Well then, miss Bianca, perhaps we can help one another?" He suggested, still refusing to drop the 'miss', but saying her name more confidently now. "Out by the barrier here, I do not get to know many of the others," He admitted, with a quick nod. "I wouldn't mind taking a walk, if you would like to join me."

Docile. That was the perfect word to describe this female. Or cold, stand-offish. She'd heard these things whispered about her behind her back. At first, it had hurt Bianca. She'd only been a pup when the first words were whispered. The tears wouldn't stop when she heard them repeating over and over again from different people in the pack.

She always thought, "It isn't my fault...!" But now that she was older, she heard those words said about her, and sometimes not even whispered, she would think that it doesn't matter. Their opinion of Bianca didn't bother her anymore. But why else would she try to change that?

Snapped from her thoughts when he started to talk again, Bianca's light gaze settled upon the male once more and she nodded. A walk. She could do that. Everyone did it; walked with someone and talked with them. It couldn't be that hard, now could it? "A walk. Alright, Yasen.." She felt so weird when he called her miss. He didn't have to. She wasn't old enough to be a miss yet. She had just gotten out of puppyhood. Just filled her lithe body and started taking a little pride in how she looked. Only a little, mind you.

He gave Bianca an encouraging smile. He knew that some wolves struggled to open up, but that didn't mean that there was anything 'wrong' with them. That was the kind of thinking that belonged to his birth pack. They just needed some patience and understanding, that was all.

"This way," he said, beginning to walk away from the spot. There was no hurry to get anywhere, so he took a relaxed, casual pace. He was in no hurry to speak again, either. Yasen mused in silence for a moment, thinking about his old pack. Life was different here, and he had to be honest with himself. Sometimes, he felt as if he didn't quite fit too... Like a cog on a gear that wasn't quite the right size. Perhaps he was still used to living alone. Or perhaps some of the distance he felt from others as a pup lingered somewhere deep inside...

"So, how have have things been going with your family?" It wasn't the best way to start a conversation, but Yasen was curious. Despite his avoidance of Willow, he still wanted to know how she and her daughters were doing... That strange feeling bubbled up inside him again and he kind of regretted saying anything, but he covered it up quickly with another smile.
