AMITYVILLE ACADEMY ENROLLMENT FORM Name: Beckett Stroud Nicknames: Beck, Becky, Patchy (Though she rather dislikes the latter two so, she won’t continue to fuss about it if the user persists.) Gender: Female Age: 15
Faction/Race Undead – Patchwork, specifically.
Personality: A quiet, but not unfriendly girl, Beckett is perfectly capable of being social. While generally preferring to be addressed first when it comes to folks she isn’t familiar with, she does break the ice first if she’s in the mood to do so.
- Beck is sort of having to come up with experiences as she goes along. Not having had a childhood to draw from, she tends to be reserved around unfamiliar situations. While her preferred method for discerning if something is okay or not is to watch and observe, if she is feeling particularly gutsy, or if someone were to convince or accompany her, she may well sort of dive headlong into something and wing it from there.
- She’s a creature of habit. Once she, say, finds a place to eat lunch, she’ll return to that spot day after day. If other people are around, if she is alone, if someone she doesn’t know joins her, she stays put. The only thing that would really drive her elsewhere is the threat of some serious weather. Being a Patchwork, she does her best to avoid extremes. If Beck were to have already situated herself somewhere, she won’t run off anyone else should they choose to join her. Her reactions may vary depending on how they behave, but she won’t lash out or get violent if her space is invaded.
- While generally cautious, there are some situations that cause her to throw caution to the wind and act more so with her gut than with her mind. If a friend of hers is distressed or in trouble, Beck’ll drop everything to help them out as best she can. Also, in fight scenarios, she doesn’t back down but does keep a bit of a distance if there is fire involved.
- She’s almost a compulsive listener when it comes to others’ pasts. Being rather “new”, hearing of people’s childhoods, current issues, opinions, secrets, what have you. Beck isn’t dogged in her pursuit of learning about people. If they open up to her, then she’ll sit and listen, nodding or shaking her head when appropriate, offering a wide assortment of “Hm”s and “Ah”s and those sorts of things. If asked for her thoughts, she’ll give her opinion on the matter honestly and as tactfully as she could manage. If her opinion isn’t asked for, she won’t give it. Beck also keeps the things she hears. If secrets or shameful things are divulged to her, she won’t let anything slip. Her code being: “I’ll keep it until I forget it or I am completely unmade.” If someone wants to rant, or b***h out goings on, and they want an audience who won’t get up and walk off because they don’t want to hear it.
- Not a lot really bothers her. She isn't afraid of the prospect of physical violence because her capacity to feel pain is pretty limited. She can feel twinges of hurt, but excruciating pain would take a lot of effort on the part of her opponent, if they could manage at all. Beck doesn't seem to let any remarks against her ruffle her proverbial feathers. About the only time that it would genuinely distress her, would be if she and a close friend had a fight and hurtful things were tossed around. She doesn't like the feel of anger, so fights, verbal ones anyway, between herself and another leave her feeling distressed for a time.
- While she tries to be sure of herself in her decisions, Beck is horribly indecisive. If she's on her own, she's pretty good about picking an option, but in situations that warrant caution, her mind will come up with other ideas or worries over the available options there are. In larger groups, her opinion or vote will generally sway to the way of the crowd, more likely so if there isn't at least a friend or two with her to sort of help steel herself. (All a part of that tendency to go doe-eyed and yielding in the presence of "a popular crowd".) If an important decision needs to be made immediately, Beckett certainly isn't the person to go to if you want clear, concise input. Of course, the reverse of this is that if a tie needs to be broken, some friendly words and an encouraging smile could be all that it took to have her vote for one side or the other. Social pressure is not her friend. This indecision also helps drive her sort of aimlessness. She wants to find a path for herself, but there is just so much out there!
- (New!) A girl has to accessorize, right? Well, having a missing right eye isn't all bad, seeing as it has brought about a little hobby for Beck. She collects eyes in a jar and keeps them on her desk, you know, for when she wants to mix it up a bit and her patches are in need of washing. Only single eyes will do and only when she finds them, or they're gifts from her Father or whomever.
- (New!) In times of stress or just general distress, Beckett has developed a method to help soothe herself. She counts her stitches, or simply traces her fingertips along her various seams. She doesn't exactly know why but they have slightly more feeling than some of her other parts.
Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? Isn’t it a teen’s job to sort of be in school? Her Father wanted her to be able to experience life at the Academy, interact with kids her own age, improve in her innate skills, and maybe get a direction for herself. She wants to learn and the chance to be around people her own age is an exciting prospect, even if she isn't the most bubbly, outgoing person there is out there.
A few classes of interest: ~ Gym. – Being undead has its perks. As a Patchwork, she’s physically strong and she enjoys being active. Since she doesn’t have to worry about getting out of breath or the buildup of lactic acid in her muscles, she can go on and on if she needed to. The only thing she really has to worry about is making sure her stitches don’t pop or loosen to the point something falls off. ~ Human Studies – At one point, all of her various parts were living, so a little background on what they might have been doing is a bit of a point of interest for her.
FEAR: Through Fear, Beckett is able to temporarily bind her opponents with sturdy thread, similar to the stuff that she carries in her sewing kit. This can either be used for her to make good an escape if things are really going wrong for her, or allows her to get in close to land a good hit before the thread starts breaking apart. This isn't always a highly effective move. Depending on her own physical status, if she's tired or wounded, the thread will either start breaking apart early or not work at all.
Physical Description: I have several references drawn up. I just have to scan them and play with color until I figure out what screams 'Beckett!' Eye Colour: Pale blue Hair Colour/Style: Deep red Skin Colour: Mix-n-match. Clothing Style/Colours: Extra: (mutations, bulbous nose, freckles, etc.) She doesn't always wear patches. References: (if applicable) For clothing style. Ankle Boot ref
I'll be adding her refs either tomorrow or the day after. It's 4 in the AM and I need sleep. ninja

~ History ~
Beckett’s story begins with her creator. Workaholic thirty-something Dr. Elias Stroud didn’t really have time for relationships of the romantic sort, but he did keep up with his old Academy buddies and enjoyed being kept abreast of goings on in their lives, be it work-related or family. One day he got a call from one of his closer friends, a fellow scientist by the name of Stephan Hackett, with the news that he and his wife had found a little bundle of joy in a certain Pumpkin Patch, a son whom they named Benjamin. It was wonderful news, but nothing something Stroud had to get really worked up about. He’d buy or make them a gift and either have it delivered to them or bring it to them himself…after he finished his current project which was close to completion anyway.
When he did complete his project, he whipped up something for his old chum’s boy. Stroud opted to deliver the gift himself, seeing as his work was done and his social graces, what few there were, could use some exercising. He came over, knocking on the door with the gift tucked under his arm. The man was swept in for chit-chat and introductions. Stroud found himself somewhat intrigued and mystified over the new parents’ behavior and the glow that they had about them. Was there something to having a child of their own? He pushed the thought from the front of his mind to continue on as he normally would during their visit. The afternoon pushed into the evening and they bid each other goodbye and good luck until their next visit. Back at his own lab, Stroud began giving thought to the idea of having a child. He didn’t have a wife or other romantic interest, so the idea of being a single father to a really young child left a rather bitter taste in his mouth. No, that wasn’t for him. An older child, perhaps…
With plenty of foot work, Dr. Stroud soon gathered everything he would need to make himself a child, or rather a teen. He decided to make himself a daughter, for he knew what raising a boy was like. He had brothers and it was a learning experience. The bodies of a few of teenage girls, all around the same age, which was fortunate for him would be his building materials. If he was going to make a daughter, he was going to do it right! Stroud set to work and began the task of piecing together the pieces parts to create the ideal form for a child of his own. Tirelessly he labored to make sure his girl, he would really have to figure out a name for her, had everything she needed. Once satisfied that she was put together soundly, Stroud introduced her soul to her form and bound everything together. With a shudder and a sigh, Dr. Elias Stroud’s daughter came to unlife.
After some consideration, a name was chosen: Beckett. She was Beckett Stroud, daughter of Elias Stroud, and the world lay at her feet.

~ Quirks and Extras ~ ~ Extremely flexible. - Due to a little slip up by her Father, her ligaments are “somewhat loose”. It’s not something she messes with regularly, due to some worry that it might wear out or something. She’d rather not fall to pieces, thank you. Her Father assures her that it isn’t worth fretting over though, but she’d prefer to be cautious and keep herself together. As she matures, she’ll begin to grasp that what her Father said is true, that she won’t fall to pieces. She’s made of some solid stuff. Beck will do little things that don’t really cross her mind about pushing her supposed limits. Such as some of her preferred sitting positions or some of the positions she has been known to rest in from time to time. ~Ambidextrous. - Beck, when she first awoke, seemed to favor her left hand more, but experience has sort of trained her to be able to use both hands fairly equally. After all, if your dominant arm falls off then you better have a back up hand at the ready…and maybe someone to hold it in place or at least do the stitching while you hold it steady. (Also, that being said, she carries around a small, basic sewing kit, in case of emergencies.) ~ Vinegar, the wonder condiment! - That’s right. Beck has a thing for vinegar, more specifically balsamic vinegar, but it’s all good in her books. She once asked her Father about her great fondness for it and he distractedly muttered something over his worktable about some need for preservation. To this she promptly replied with the distressed exclamation, “Are you saying I’m subconsciously trying to pickle myself?!” He had to spend a good half an hour trying to apologize and soothe her through her bedroom door. She still loves the stuff, but doesn’t carry a small bottle on her person anymore. Maybe a bottle of balsamic in her room, but that’s about it. It tastes good on everything, practically! It’s good on meat. It might be good to mention that she’s quite a meatatarian. Some veggies are okay, but meat can’t be beat! Add a little vinegar and you’ve got yourself a perfect dish! ~Keep myself together? I do try! – The reason being her missing eye is a terribly embarrassing one. Being a teen and wanting to show that she could be responsible, she offered to watch her father’s friend's son for an evening when the adults were collaborating down in the lab. Things were going well, until one of her feet caught one of the boy’s toys. She tripped and fell hard, becoming partially entangled in his walker, jarring her right eye loose, which bounced and rolled across the floor and came to a neat stop right next to her charge. To her horror, the toddler picked it up and popped it into his mouth. By the time she had disentangled herself and got over to try and pry it out of his mouth, it was too late… The boy didn’t devour it. He was teething and squished it in his gnawing. It was quite an experience explaining what happened to her Father. He didn’t seem mad, maybe due to how distressed she was acting herself. He offered to either try to fix up her old one or get her a new eye all together, but she declined, her reason being that her empty socket would be a lesson in caution. (It’s also handy to occasionally storing little knickknacks! 8D) ~ What horrors do I keep seeing? (And not in the good way! D: ) – Being a mix-mash of several human beings, the doc may have mentioned that there might be "echoes", namely from her brain. Little did Dr. Stroud know that the brain that he had given his daughter was that of a serious Otaku. While normally dormant, content on filling up with things Beckett learns and experiences, her mind occasionally flashes with memories of its past from before it inhabited the head of an undead girl. Beck gets brief glimpses of some of the shows that the previous owner of her brain so obsessed over. She doesn't know their names or where the characters are from, but more often than not, what she sees profoundly confounds her. A large group of girls in tiny pleated miniskirts with sparkles and hearts and stars. Shudder worthy. Or several over-muscular blond guys with pointy hair who scream a lot, some green and pink fellow, and lots of fighting. Another blond boy, with whiskery sort of marks on his face, really upbeat, who occasionally turns into a girl, more fighting there too. Also, a masked silver haired fellow with a penchant for adult literature? Much to her dismay, some tunes occasionally get stuck in her head, which more often than not, are accompanied by dances that she has no recollection of learning. [Read: Caramelldansen, Lucky ☆ Star, and the like, as well as a sampling of DDR songs.] Beck doesn't know what they go to, or half of what their saying, but some small part of her subconscious loves it!

Image ref! Mix-n-match clothes for a mix-n-match gal. Clothing: Tank under baggy one button sweater, shorts over tights with knee high socks, finished off with ankle boots. Colors and patterns are still up in the air for her clothes. I am partial to her hair, skin, and eye color though. Also, for her Fear, I've had a few ideas. Nothing concrete yet, or details for that matter... - Something having to do with needles, binding, or stitches. (Being a Patchwork, they are something she's very familiar with.) - Lips like Morphine? (Lab-related side effect? Of course, trying to plant a kiss during battle seems like it would be...an interesting challenge.)-plank'd- XD; [Perhaps I should break my habit of working on characters at 3 and 4 in the morning.]

i really like her character and there aren't any gaping loopholes as far as i see. i don't really see a lot of character flaws in her, maybe adding a few to make her more realistic? while she's not a mary sue, she seems too much like the girl next door (plus a few perks).
i'm just wondering if she's patchwork, wouldn't her brain have also belonged to someone else? so she might occasionally pick up on one of their memories or something. ;3 As well as her body, if it should be paler or not since her body is technically dead but reanimated.
i can't wait to see what fear you come up for her. C; crit back please?

Thanks for the feedback! I added that she is indecisive, easily malleable under social pressures, and sort of in a holding pattern of aimlessness (due mainly to her indecision).
I'll fiddle with her colors soon, at least her skin tones.
That was a fine idea, so I gave her the mind of an Otaku. >D
Me too. -shot- I am half tempted to do a little nod to the Kamehameha move or something vaguely related to the various animes that occasionally haunt her thoughts. x3
I am brainstorming though.

And by soon, I apparently meant two and a half hours later. x3; A decidedly more desaturated, undead looking Beck...in her underpants... ninja I changed her hair color for more contrast. With the more undead skin, the fair gold looked more like a butter yellow. I'm liking the red hair. ^^ I apologize for the ick quality of it. I do it all with a mouse and I'm sort of a novice with photoshop. >w<

Emblem ideas:
- Stitched together hand or heart.
- A single eyeball, maybe with the optic nerve attached. ;D
- The whole emblem looking stitched together. (In some monochrome, or various colors.)
I'll doodle something up and see what screams her.

I really do enjoy her personality quite a bit! I'm not seeing anything that sticks out as particularly unusual or "not belonging" to her general character; she's a fairly fresh mind who's just trying to absorb the world around her, and that's pretty awesome. I love the fact that she's a specified creature of habit, since that would logically provide a certain "constant" and therefore comfort in her life. Her classes of interest are also tied in very well to her abilities and background, which is good to see! The FEAR is also similarly logical and... shoot, I don't have a lot to say here's that's genuinely constructive.
I also appreciate the aesthetic change to red hair considerably; it seems to flow a lot better on a color level (to me, anyway) with the rest of her skin palette!
You've obviously put a lot of thought and effort into her, because I'm not seeing much that needs help at all. Maybe... I dunno, have you considered how she would react to various creatures of Halloween, perhaps? Does she have any opinions on them? Would she seek out pirated human merchandise to sate her residual parts' "appetite" for those lulzy shows?
/just throwing ideas out there, failure to contribute haha

Thanks for the feedback, Han! I think so too. Now I just have to figure out what color I want her sweater thing to be colored, because if it stays dark red, I think it'd be too much of a good thing. ^^ O'course, if she were to get accepted and enrolled I could leave it up to the artist's interpretation. I have in fact. I could see Beck being curious about every sort of creature of Halloween, at least on some level. For the more monstrous denizens of Halloween (Read: Super huge or very inhuman looking), there might be some moment of pause before she steadies herself and carry on. I think she would be most comfortable around other Undead, namely Patchworks, since they would be the most familiar to her. As for seeking out pirated human merchandise, I don't think the thought will really cross her mind unless one of the shows really get stuck in her head. Then she might ask her Father to "surprise" her with gifts pertaining to the shows after dropping some hints at to what she is interested in getting. (Or making drawings and notes for him to look over and tell him that she is interested in learning more about the human world, that his bringing back things relating to the material she provided him with would "greatly assist in her research".) If any particular dance gets stuck in her head for any length of time I could see her trying to teach it to a close gal pal to share the love. XD Or I could have her become a member or affiliate with the FEARleaders and offer to help choreograph their routines. Oooorrrr....She could decide to try to Halloween-ize what she recalls. Maybe making dolls of her friends.
