Learning to Breathe: Lesson One
To breathe, simply allow the body to perform its natural function of inhaling and exhaling. DO NOT, under any circumstances, try to hold one's breath for XX hours, XX minutes and XX seconds until they have mastered the before statement. Doing so might lead to a brain damage or even death. Continue to page two for Lesson Two on blinking.

HAD Lennyka taken up this lesson before stepping into the line that weaved itself out of the bookstore, she wouldn't have passed out and caused a commotion. HAD she taken the time to breathe rather than hold her breath out of nervousness, she wouldn't be sprawled out on the floor floating on the imaginary cotton candy clouds in Dreamland. Her big brother wasn't here to save her now, so the teal haired girl was left to her lonesome. Oh, the predicaments she gets herself into.

A new issue of Everything Eevee and its Evolutions had come out that day and everyone from glasses wearing intellectuals to extreme super nerds was at Campheron's handy dandy bookstore to grab themselves a copy. Some saw it as a novelty item. It was written by an amateur scientist in Kodo who wasn't all that famous. Yet, this one book of his had captured the attention of many researchers. Since it was only being published in Kodo, it would surely fetch a pretty, pretty penny on the internet markets if sold.

Lennyka wasn't going to sell it though. Oh, no, no. She was going to read the prized novel and than set it away with the other babies of her collection. Unfortunately, it seems as though she will be obtaining none now . . . especially with her sudden . . . problem.

Max, her companion for the trip, was crawling all over her body and sniffing around. He only came because she promised him cheese crackers. However, that seemed to be all an elaborate lie to have him follow after as company. Oh.

Oh.

Oh.

She is totally going to get a straight haduoken to the face when they get back to the base. Totally.

Money to put it in one word. To put in in many- food, clothes, and a nice place to sleep.

The announcement of this book had been on his mind for a while; being the literate fool he was. Just the thing to make a quick buck and keep him comfortably for days. but there was the wait to worry about... The line was horribly long, full of nerds, dorks, geeks and everything in between. It was such a shame that he would be paired with them all, but, as always, he would do what he had to do to get what he wanted. Being close to the front of the line gave him a good sense of pride. He could be in and out in a matter of minutes and flee from this crowd. Logan had waited out here for nights not caring if he was the few (only) there.

Finally, they were letting them in. He glanced at the sign as he entered, '1 per customer'. That wasn't going to happen, he was going to buy and sell one to make the most of his situation. He took in the situation, and quickly found a female store clerk to suck up to.

Could he work his magic on anyone? Logan surely felt that way right now. With one book in hand, another wrapped up in his bag, he was on his was out-

"Oh dear, is that girl ok?" "Someone help her!"

It would be just his luck for him to be the closest to the girl, but he was in a good mood. Stepping over this poor thing and leaving would be a major faux pas, so it was his duty to help this lovely creature. He bent down and laid his book on the ground, gingerly taking the girl in her arms. "Hey," he cradled her head, "This is no place to sleep." He shook her gently, the people in line doing nothing but staring and going ahead in line to get a book of their own.

Ah, how many stories has there been when a young maiden is awoken from her deep slumber by the true love of another prince? That one passionate kiss or touch would wake the princess immediately from her wretched curse. Following, there would be an entire grand wedding and the two would live happily ever after until death drove those two apart. Yet, how many stories show a real reaction of the princess throwing whatever man off her in a fit of fear and disgust?

Lennyka eyes fluttered open when she was cradled. Yet, her once sublimely rested features contorted to that of malice when that man touched her.

"G-Get your filthy hands o-off me!" she bellowed as she jerked herself away and held a palm to her bosom to catch her breath. "D-D-D-Don't you know not to lay your hands on anyone without permission?"

Since that little incident with one-three-three-seven, Lennyka Dinkley has been a little edgy with men with all things that make them manly touching her. Hell, she even grew extremely upset when Sorano tried to have her dance with him. She never grew upset before. Yet, she went stomping down the hall in a fury and even tried to get revenge with the girl he liked most! She was just racking up the trouble, huh?

The girl's waking up, her eyes are so lovely in this light. And then she was yelling at him to let her go. "I'm sorry miss, but I was only trying to help." He did as he was told, a coy smirk found it's way onto his face. He sat on the floor with her and looked her over, "You should rest for a moment before you do anything to strenuous."

The line, by now, had moved up quiet a few people. Logan was liking this fair maiden already; she looked cute even with the glasses on. "So miss," he rested an elbow on his knee, hand on his chin, "Why did you just faint out of the blue?" His dark purple gaze admired her lazily.

His somber tone made her falter, her once disrupted expression relaxing tenfold with this new sudden reassurance of his concern. Deep within her cerebellum however, the fact that this man's face cannot be trusted still floated endlessly. Would it be drowned, would it be brought to shore was all that can be wondered. Withdrawing in a deep, deep, DEEP breath, she allowed the air to seam passed her lips and blinked slightly at the man.

"There's a book coming out today." she replied. Well, obviously. That would explain the vast amount of adverts, fliers, and long line outside of the bookstore. "I've waited . . . "

Lennyka paused for a bit to count on her fingers the amount of days she has waited, tugging away the knit turtleneck sweater that clung rather ungracefully to her lean frame. She nodded her head and held up three fingers up, pointed to the sections of the finger where the joints intersected.

"Nine days." she added. "I've waited nine days for the book, heh."

He chuckled to himself and set his eyes on the book everyone was fawning over. It really was something, all of these bookworms flocking over here to get this thing, and they probably weren't going to sell it! "So you've been here all this time," he returned his eyes to the young woman and held the book in his hand, "I guess I've been here longer than you." That was a downright lie. Only six cycles of the sun and moon had passed, yet he was a head of her in line. That was all thanks to a friendly placeholder, uh... Paul was it?

Logan was stroking his chin thoughtfully before looking at the girl once more. "You've been in line all this time, but it looks like no one bothered to keep your place." The line had moved up by a tremendous amount with still many people to go. "At this rate, I doubt you'll be able to acquire your book."

"Oh no!" Her voice cascaded into the air like a frisbee thrown for an eager canine Pokemon to catch. Was this reality truly true? Lennyka turned to stand but felt her figure wobble, one hand holding her head up as the other steadied her twisting pelvis. Was this true? S-She could not obtain the very item she waited so long for?

The symptoms of Sleeping Beauty began to overtake her again, dreariness and an underlying sense of disappointment all mixing themselves into one complete blend.

"No, you're wrong. I have to get a copy. I just have to. If not, I . . . Oh goodness." The truth just has a tendency to hurt sometimes.

Logan tried to hide a chuckle; tried and failed. It was unfortunate that the poor girl was so crushed by not being able to obtain the object of her admiration- if only for the moment. "You could always ask someone to let you cut..." By the looks of this crowd, most were shut ins.... Not likely to let her get a "cutsie" without a major hissy fit.

"But what would you do if you couldn't get this book?" He held up his own copy, tainting the girl. "I mean, you see how fast they're selling.." All nice talk aside, he wanted to see how much she really wanted the book. What she would do to get it.

She flung her hands from her rested torso in an attempt to reach for the forbidden fruit she was so tempted by. Yet -- that luscious peach of sweet withered come the first caress of winter's frost, A. K. A. by her own conscious. Bounding for the book to steal it from him was not in her nature. She could not . . . she just couldn't. That was left for the real criminals are TRHQ. Not her nor her brother. She'd talk some sense into him and bring him home eventually. But for now, her concentration was set on obtaining a copy of that book.

"I'd, I'd do anything!" she spouted, temptation and avarice binding her sense of self. "I'd give you anything, so please let me get a copy of that book!"

The Rocket grunt was dead set of getting what she aimed for. What would the man want that she has that can be placed for barter though . . . ?

Anything she says. Anything

This moment was just too precious! If only there was a way to relive this over and over again. Not often did you get a cute girl to say she'd do anything for you. The ideas ran through his mind; it was as if you could see a spark run through those dark eyes. He couldn't very well ask her a single one of the ideas and leave in good standing. There was only one solution.

"If you really do want it..." He pretended to mull over the decision intensely, as if the book was his one and only friend. "Maybe..." He bit his lip to build suspense, "Triple the price." A cool grin tugged at his face. If he was going to give her the book, he was going to make something off of it.

What?

Her eyebrows shot up at the pitched offer. Yet, her mind never caught hold of true factoid as the ball went sailing straight over her head.

"D-Deal!" she cried and immediately her hands shot up again in a stretch for the book. "I said deal, so give me!"

Triple, hell even double the original price was out of her monetary range. She'd only exact dollars with a splash of extra change to buy the book and get herself back home. She'd never have a way to pay for the man's asking price. This never occurred to her though. All thoughts were dead set on getting that book.

Logan was caught by surprise, the girl's quick movement was enough to obtain the book from his grip. She must really want this bad. This was more fun then what he was planning on doing later, which was well... Nothing.

He caught hold of her wrist soon after- not so forceful as to make anyone think twice, like they would anyway. Most of them had lost interest and were discussing the book and making their way out.

"I'll be needing the money now." He made sure to stare unwaveringly into her brown eyes. Maybe the girl would just melt into his arms and forget about the book and throw all her money and valuables at him. Oh, he could dream, couldn't he?

Her fingers tightened into a hardened fist when her wrist was caught, eyes darting up to her companion's in broken delight and fright. They were bright -- his eyes, glinting with pearls of light from the overhead sun. Nothing in this world could convince her otherwise and she gave into his command as her loose hand wavered forward.

"Alright, alright." she replied and reached her empty hand into her pocket. "I don't know why you would need money if I have some right here."

Her hand emerged with a small bottle of eye drops and she offered it to him casually.

"Your eyes look a tad bit dry, so I understand why you would want money. It's alright though, I have some right here! Now if you could just give me the book, I can be on my way . . . I really have to get home, you know. It's getting late."

Now this is more like it. He smiled as she loosened her grip.

"So you're not playing games with me?" He cut his eyes at her, trying to analyze her fleeting movements. Could he really trust this desperate, pretty face? Well... "You're right, it is getting late." He held out his hand for the money and offered the book to her with the other. "Where do you live? I could walk you there." He smirked once more, "Wouldn't want anything happening to you." The eerie tone to his voice was unmistakable.

"Uh, uh, uh . . . " she jittered as she slid the collection of jumbled bills and coins into the man's offered hand. "No, um, you can't walk me home. You can't. Y-You just cannot, okay? Alright? Um, I'll be on my way . . . goodbye. Thank you, goodbye, bye . . . "

Len extended a hand and felt almost glorified when her fingertips graced the threaded texture of the book. Suddenly, an electric spark of euphoria flew up her hand and spread like a dispersing flock of Pidgey throughout her entire being, shifting swiftly through every vein and artery, to the corners of her capillaries and the raw endings of her nerves. Her hackles flew into a pinpoint stand. Arceus, it was incredible. This bookworm had a tendency of seeing books more as a source of life than for the means of entertainment. Books fueled her soul. To her, they were the true messiahs of human creativity. No chef d'oeuvre of paints or melodic concerto could equal to the mastered perfection of inked words on paper.
