"Cain, get BACK here!" Lance scowled as he found himself chasing the shadow towards the park. The winged creature paid him no mind, of course; he never did. He seemed to have no problem listening to Charlie, but when it came to the black-haired boy, everything went in one ear, and came out the other - not that Cain HAD any ears, mind you.

"Vim, vi vi vi!" The shadow stopped and spun around to face Lance for a moment before shooting off again towards the park. Needless to say, the little shadow was excited about going to meet up with Luka and his family. The two had firmly decided upon meeting that they were going to be best friends, which meant that they needed to play with each other regularly.
This, of course, meant that someone had to go with him. This time, it was Lance who was being dragged to the spot by the winged shadow, who didn't seem to be slowing his pace any time soon. "Vim!"

"Cain, would you slow down?! They're not even there yet!" At least he didn't think so. Either way, he wished that the brat would slow down; it was hard keeping up with him, especially when he INSISTED on having Lance carry his guitar around everywhere. That damned shadow was obsessed!

Quite contrary to what Lance believed, Kali, Katia, and Luka were all present and accounted for, though Luka had climbed up a tree and completely forgotten how to get down. He didn't seem to want to melt like he usually did, had forgotten he could fly, and was currently bawling his eyes out as Kali clawed her way up the trunk.

"Stupid tree...not having branches..."
"Why don't you just use magic?" Katia called from where she stood on the ground, still trying to coaxe Luka down with open arms. The way she said it felt like a knife in Kali's back, but too proud to admit that she hadn't been able to think of anything that might help, short of transforming herself into a monkey, the older woman scowled.
"You can't just use magic for everything, Katia." She sniffed. "And I'm...almost...there!" Kali grabbed the lowest branch and easily swung herself up, traversing the rest of the tree with relative leisure. Luka cried louder as she came closer, and she frowned as she began to inch herself out onto the branch he was on.

"Come on, Luka. Come over here! I'll get you cheesy poofs! And the TV remote!" She smiled, offering her fingers to him; which seemed to be, she thought, his favorite snack aside from cheesy poofs. The little shadow looked over at her, considering it... Before shrieking, with joy this time, rather than fear, and launching himself out of the tree. The branch shook and Kali shrieked, gripping it and staring as Luka barrelled toward his fellow shadow, Cain.

"Oh yeah, so NOW you remember you can fly!!" She roared at him, but he was far to immersed in his new best friend to listen or to care.

"Lu! Lu-ja-ja-luuu!!" He chirruped, tackling Cain and tumbling across the grass, little wings fluttering much like a dog's tail wagged when it was happy. "CA!"

Katia smiled to hear the new syllable. She had been resolutely trying to teach Luka to talk, so he could hold conversations with her and entertain her when nobody was home. She was rather pleased that he had learned something.
"Hello." She said to Lance, pointing up at the tree. "I think Kali's stuck."

"STUPID SHADOW!!" The tone of her voice seemed to accentuate the fact.

Cain made a squeaking noise as he was tackled by Luka and the shadow found himself rolling over the grass with the other creature. Neither seemed to be at all harmed, luckily; if anything, Cain seemed to be laughing, his own wings fluttering happily as he chattered with Luka. "Vim vim! Vi vi!" Nearby, Lance had been watching with amusement. The whole scene had been rather hilarious, but he figured that he'd best help Kali.

"Hey Katia." He waved to the young girl before walking beneath the tree that Kali was currently stuck in. Looking up at her, the green-eyed teen grinned and chuckled. "Jump down and I'll catch you! I promise not to drop you!"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 16, 2010 9:05 pm

"Are you sure you can, metal-head? You've got matchstick arms." Kali called down, teasing, though rather serious. She doubted he'd catch her from this high up, and if she did manage to jump anywhere near him, she'd probably crush him!

Katia tossed her cousin a look as she sat herself down beside a patch of daisies, stringing them together to make a daisy chain. Really, her cousin was brilliant at times, but at others...She just didn't seem able to function properly. She could make the dishes wash themselves and her bed make itself, but using magic to get out of a tree? Apparently, common sense had left her.

Kali caught the look and somehow was able to glean the meaning. Scowling at herself, mentally, she took a breath and swung herself down so she was hanging off the branch.

"If you drop me and I die, I'll come back to haunt your skinny white a**." She muttered at Lance. A barely audible whisper later, and she was lighter than she should have been, albeit a bit tougher. If he did happen to miss her, at least she wouldn't die.

"Ready? One...two..THREE!" On three, she let go, choking back a scream as she plummeted to the ground. Next to bugs crawling on her, falling was probably the sensation Kali hated most.

"Lu!" Luka grinned and leapt to his feet, tagging Cain on the shoulder. "Ca, ja, lu!" With that, he bounded away, taunting Cain to follow and play tag with him. It was his new favorite game, and it was only fitting that he play it with his new favorite and best friend!!

Matchstick arms? Lance rolled his eyes slightly; the girl didn't know what she was talking about. His arms were fine, as far as he was concerned! "Oh, I'm pretty sure!" And he'd prove it to her too!

For a moment, a thought crossed his mind; why wasn't Kali using magic? She could do that, right? So why didn't she just get herself out of the tree like that? Then again, perhaps she hadn't learned to do that yet or something. The boy pushed it from his mind after a moment and chuckled a little. "I won't drop you, jeez; have a little faith, would you?" She sounded kind of scared, actually. Maybe she was afraid of heights? Either way, he'd have to take care not to drop her – not that he would've anyway.

Lance braced himself for the weight that he knew was about to come as Kali shouted 'three' – seconds later, the redheaded girl landed on top of him and he fell back, despite his efforts. He didn't drop the girl that he'd caught however, and she merely ended up on top of him. For a moment, his brain rattled around in his brain before it finally settled down again and he looked up at the girl on his chest. “See? Toldja that I wouldn't drop ya.” Though, his back was probably going to be hurting for a little while.

It took only a moment for Cain to realize what was going on – a moment later, he was zipping after Luka as fast as his wings could carry him. He was quite familiar with this game, as he often played it with Charlie; sometimes, he played with Lance as well, but that was usually only when he was in trouble. It was much more enjoyable when he was doing it with a friend. “Vi vim!” he called as he flew after the other shadow, promising that he'd catch his friend one way or another before the day was done.

Kali gripped Lance's shirt tightly, eyes still squeezed shut. One leg lay on either side of his chest, now, and she straddled him. Not that she was paying attention. She was currently thanking all of the gods that she hadn't DIED.
Not that she would have. Her spell had taken care of that.
Speaking of which, she thought, she should dispell it. Later.

Opening her eyes, she smiled thankfully at Lance, grinning and leaning over him.
"Aw, lookit that. My hero. Shall I give you a token of my gratitude?" She asked quietly, pressing down slightly on his chest. She didn't weigh much, right now, but as soon as she sent the spell away she'd probably squish him more than she was now.

"Jaaaa!!" Luka giggled, diving down to dodge Cain's attempts to tag him. He dove too low, though, and hit the grass, tumbling head over heels until he ran smack into Katia. He and the girl both fell over, squealing and laughing, before scrambling up to dodge Cain again.
"Ja lu~!!"

Despite the pain in his back, Lance couldn't help but be pleased with the position that he was in. The teenager a cute, redheaded girl was on his chest, straddling him; really, an sore back was a small price to pay. If there was one thing that he could be optimistic about, it was as to how close he was to a woman.

"A token...? Well, I hear that the damsel is supposed to give her hero a kiss after he rescues her." There was a grin spread across his own face; needless to say, he wouldn't complain if she chose to give him one. "I would be quite happy with that." He was tempted to ask for more, but refrained for more than one reason; firstly, because there were kids here. There was Katia, and then the two shadows, who basically counted as kids. Therefore, anything that wasn't kissing obviously wasn't appropriate. Secondly, he probably SHOULDN'T try to pull something like that with Kali - she didn't seem like the type of person who'd go for it. She might even get offended.

As Luka took a tumble, Cain thought that this may have been the chance that he needed to catch the other shadow. He dove for his friend, just barely missing him by inches. "Vim vi vi, vim!" Cain spun around in the air and dove towards Luka again, only to be cut off by shape that was a flash of red and black. Seconds later, the little shadow was on his back, shaking his head to clear it. "Viiiim?"

"La! La la, la!" A few feet away sat another black form; he looked rather similar to Cain and Luka, black wings protruding from his black, though this little one wore a red hat and scarf.

"K-Kouki-chan, come back!" It was then that a young impling boy rushed onto the scene, gasping for air and red faced. It looked as though he'd been running for a while; in actuality, he'd only been doing so for a few minutes. However, his body wasn't particularly kind to him whenever he did physical activities of any kind. His chest was throbbing right now, actually, but he figured that he just needed to regain his breath.
"I...I'm sorry. He got away from me." Mizu was still clad in his black pajamas, though that wasn't a surprise; he spent most of his time in bed, after all. It was very rare for his parent to take him on outings.

"A kiss? Hm..." She leaned forward until her coppery hair brushed his cheeks, falling over her bare shoulders. "Now where would you get that idea?"
Her face was dangerously near his, though she wasn't sure how seriously she was considering the idea. The decision was made for her, however, with the appearance of a new child in the park. An incredibly adorable one, she noted as she sat up straight. Wearing his pyjamas.

She pushed herself up and got off of Lance, walking quickly to Katia's side.
"It's not a problem. I know what they're like." The blonde was saying, sounding far too intelligent for her age. "What's his name?" She looked over at the trio of shadows, smiling at their antics. "They seem to like one another."

"Lu?" Luka had been in mid-dodge when Kouki had appeared, and paused in the air, staring at his attire. The scarf was so nice...and flowy...
He drifted toward it, reaching out one hand to tentatively bat it. Then, with a squeal of childish delight, he tagged Kouki across his head and zipped away, grabbing Cain along the way. Now, the newcomer was it. This was great! He'd never played with so many shadows before!!

"A better question is what's your name." Kali said, looking at the red-faced boy. How far, she wondered, had he run? "And...why are you in your pyjamas? Did he really just fly out of the house like that?"
Not that she'd put it past the shadow. Luka had, on more than one occasion, tried to play tag with her when she was getting out of the shower. He'd even gone so far as to add an aspect of 'keep away' to the game.

He had surely rued taking her towel, though, when she had trapped him in a JAR. Katia hadn't spoken to her for days after that. A small price to pay, though, all things considered.

Looking back, she tossed a coy smile at Lance, well aware that Mizu had efficiently stolen the kiss she had never intended on giving. She supposed that made her a tease...

For a moment, it seemed as though Lance would get his kiss. Their faces were so close together - usually, that meant that it was a done deal, that nothing would make the girl change her mind.
However, his hopes were shot and brutally mutilated when Kali was distracted by an impling kid, interrupting the girl as she went to give him her 'token'. For the first time since this morning, Lance McCoy wanted to hit someone; at the moment, it was the impling kid. Earlier that morning, it had been Charlie, but that wasn't anything new. Charlie ALWAYS got hit by Lance. The black-haired boy scowled and sat up as Kali moved to Katia's side, a small pout visible on his face as well. Dumb kid, ruining his chances of getting a kiss from Kali.

Mizu smile to the blond girl, glad to hear that he and Kouki hadn't disturbed anyone by their appearance. The teenager slowly moved to stand up straight as he slowly but surely got his breath back. "His name is...is Kouki."

At first, Kouki was somewhat shy; the clothed shadow had never been around those of his own kind, and it wasn't often that he got to meet people who were outside of Mizu's family. "La la?" He looked back and forth between Cain and Luka as the other two shadows looked at him curiously and suddenly, the little creature felt himself being 'tagged' on the head just before Luka and Cain took off flying away from him. He was confused for a moment, unsure of what to do, before an encouraging call from Cain convinced him to give chase.

"Vim, vim!" Cain yelled over his shoulder, which then prompted Kouki to fly out after the other two shadows. It seemed that their game of tag had just become much more enjoyable, what with having more than two players in the middle of it now.

"Ah, my name's Mizu...Mizu Hamasaki..." His face would have reddened with embarrassment, had it not already been a dark crimson colour from his run. Obviously, nobody else was in their pajamas, so he must have been quite the sight. "Y-Yes...he's never done that before..." Which was why he'd been so surprised when Kouki had done it. Mizu assumed that something had caught the shadow's eye; why else would he have taken off like that?
His initial plan had to grab his little shadow and hurry back to the house as quickly as he could - his parents had only stepped out for a little while, and would be angry if they returned and found him gone -, but found that he was having a hard time working up the nerve to drag Kouki home. The little shadow was having so much fun, and it wasn't like the little one got to do anything often...

As well, Mizu would have been lying if he'd said that he didn't want to hang around with some actual people for once. Perhaps he had a little time after all. "May I ask...what your names are?"

"Lance McCoy." While he was still irritated (and he was letting Kali know this through his pout), Lance still took notice of a few things about Mizu. Firstly, was that he was out of breath and seemed to be having a hard time getting it back, though he was sure that everyone had noticed that. Secondly, he looked exhausted, and a little ill. Actually, he looked rather sickly, and Lance had no doubt that under his blue fur, Mizu's skin was probably quite pale. Perhaps he'd been home sick from school?
PostPosted: Mon Sep 20, 2010 12:55 pm

Kali noticed Mizu's sickliness as well after a few more moments of careful observation. He looked a bit like Katia did when she got sick. While the girl had made a recovery from her sickly childhood, and had even appeared strengthened by it, when she did get sick it was pretty bad. By the looks of things, however, Mizu seemed alright.

"He probably wanted to come play with Cain and Luka." Katia said, turning and sitting on the grass to watch the Shadows tumble and chase after one another. "You should sit. You're tired." She stated it as fact, and pointed at a space for him to sit without taking her eyes off of the Shadows. Kali shook her head at Katia's blunt demand, but could not deny that she agreed.

"I'm Kali." She said, smiling at Mizu. "That's not my full name, but you'd have to pull my teeth to get me to say it out loud." Which wasn't entirely true. She had exchanged full names with the wizard child Howl, but that was only fair. He had told her his full name, which he also apparently despised. They were under a firm agreement and truce, referring to one another by only their preferred titles; though Kali could not resist the occasional dig when the vain boy was being particularily unbearable.

"My name is Katia Kovak." Katia interjected into the conversation. "Kali is my cousin, and a Kovak as well. Her name isn't that bad. She's just a drama queen. You haven't sat down yet." She paused in watching the shadows to look at Mizu with a look that clearly said if he did not sit down now, she would find every ounce of her abilities and MAKE him sit. There was an air about this boy that made her distinctly uncomfortable, which was the reason for her worse-than-usual attitude. He was sick, and it was perhaps Katia who could feel this the most out of the small group. Behind the demands and threats in her silvery blue eyes, concern and worry and fear surged.

Kali noticed, though perhaps did not discern the cause of, Katia's mood, and sat down as well to encourage Mizu to sit and catch his breath again. There was no point in him going home now anyways; even if Kouki listened, which she doubted, the other shadows would only tag along and continue their game. A game that was certainly not something anyone wanted inside their house.
She was pointedly ignoring Lance's pout, though tossed him a teasing grin over her shoulder as she sat. She considered reaching over and pinching his lower lip, but figured she had best stay away from the tempting, ringed lips of this boy for today. Besides. Teasing him from afar was more fun. She was a careful cocktease, and was quite sure that she had judged Lance correctly. Some would take her flaunted attentions as a request, or an invitation, for something that she did not (yet) want. Some would take advantage of them. But Lance, she somehow knew, would not.

Well, it appeared as though Mizu didn't have much of a choice anyway - the group (or Katia, at least) seemed very intent on making him stay. He could stay for a little while perhaps...but he'd not for long. He didn't want his parents to come home and discover that he was gone. They'd never leave him alone again if that happened.

The boy sat down as Katia demanded that he take a seat, wondering why she was being so forceful. Could she tell that he was sick? He supposed that it WAS rather obvious. Being a rather obedient boy however, he did as he was told, sitting down next to the young girl. "Well, it's nice to meet you all..." He smiled a bit, tail flicking slightly. There seemed to be a somewhat tense feeling in the air, though Mizu couldn't figure out why - had he known about what Katia had gone through, he may have understood. However, he remained baffled for the moment. He also noted that Lance seemed to be a little irritated; perhaps he HAD interrupted something?

Lance, of course, wasn't happy about being ignored - dumb girl. He'd all but broken his back for her, and now she was going to ignore him? Oh, he'd get her for it - he'd have to wait until later, but he'd get her.
Well, he'd just have to ignore her right back for now then. "You live nearby, kid?" he asked, not minding that Mizu had told them his actual name - he tended to call anyone who was younger than himself 'kid'. The thirteen-year-old nodded in response.

"Yeah...I live about two blocks from here."
PostPosted: Mon Sep 20, 2010 7:53 pm

"It's nice to meet you too, Mizu." Kali said, smiling at him. "Relax. We're not going to beat you up. You should just rest before hurrying off again, if you're going to." She explained, leaning back on her hands. The shadows were tumbling closer, now, and Luka seemed to be 'it'. He also seemed to be focused on Kouki; and specifically, his scarf. Why didn't he have such a nice and flowy scarf?
Maybe Kali had one. Maybe he could take it.

Thinking of Kali, and in turn, Katia, Luka's eyes brightened. He should show Kouki his host! Yes! That was a good idea!
He suddenly abandoned the game and zipped over to Katia, cooing and cuddling up against her. Katia giggled and fell back, pushing at the Shadow's head as he tried to nuzzle her.

"Luu!" he cooed at Kouki, pointing to Katia. "Lu, ja."

"I didn't think that you were." Mizu figured that they would've beaten him up by now if that had been their plan, and he very much doubted that a little girl would WANT to beat him up anyway. Either way, it seemed that the boy would be staying there for a while.

Kouki appeared to be having fun anyway. In fact, the little shadow seemed to be quite delighted when Luka introduced his host to him. Cain soon followed suit, zipping over to where Lance had put his guitar down - heaven forbid Cain let him leave the house without it -, floating over the musical instrument to pluck at its strings. "Vim vi!" Not wanting to be left out, Kouki zipped over to where Mizu was sitting.

"La la, la~" He batted playfully at the blue impling's ears, causing Mizu to chuckle slightly. He couldn't remember ever seeing Kouki this energetic.

"Having fun?" he asked, receiving a happy chirp in response to his question.
PostPosted: Thu Sep 23, 2010 8:03 pm

Kali giggled, watching as Luka cuddled Katia's face, avoiding all attempts from the girl to shove him off.
"Looks like you're the only one with out a face hugger." She said, looking at Lance. "Gee. Even your guitar has one. Sort of." She looked over at Cain. He seemed to love the guitar an unnatural amount.
She wasn't sure if that was supposed to be cute, or creepy.

Sighing, she flopped back and lay on the grass, stretching and sighing.
"So, Mizu, how long have you had Kouki?" She asked, smiling at him.

"Freaking Guitar-Humper..." Lance muttered as Cain plucked the strings of the instrument. He'd come to understand the concept of shadows and their hosts by then, but he still didn't understand why the hell Cain had decided to make the guitar his host. Why not Charlie? He'd been the one to summon him after all!

The kid was bloody strange.

"Um...about a month or so, I think." Mizu replied after a moment of thinking about it. "...yeah, it's been about a month." He smiled a little. "My parents didn't really want to let him stay at f-" The boy stopped suddenly as he felt a tightness growing in his chest. He coughed and covered his mouth, cringing a little. It was just a coughing fit, he thought at first. It would pass. When it didn't though, he found himself growing worried. Suddenly, he found himself gasping for air - he was having an attack.

"La!" Kouki flitted about Mizu's head, suddenly looking quite panicked. "La la!! La!"

"Woah, hey, what's going on???"
Lance got up and moved next to Mizu as the boy began having difficulty breathing. "s**t...I'm going to call an ambulance. You two stay with him!"
