Raja had just finished training with the prides warrior. They newest recruits we coming along nicely, but Raja was a bit sore from the new training regiment. He was headed toward the jungles waters to have a nice long soak. He would be going on a journey soon, so he needed to stay in top form and make sure the others new the training they were suppose to adhere to.

Raja smiled as he spotted the waters and weaved his way through the last of the vegetation and walked right into the cool water, sighing slightly.

"That feels so much better," he said in no one in particular.

Whether or not Rajanya meant to be overheard, he was. One of his sons, Txuratan, was nearby and enjoying the water as well. Unlike his father, who was a warrior, Txur had decided to pursue a spiritual calling within the pride and train as a priest.

"How was training?" he asked. He'd never felt bad about choosing a trade so different from his father's. He was no warrior, but he could take an interest in his father's craft.

"You look tired," he observed. "Are the newest trainees so bad?"

Raja looked up to his son who was also in the water. He moved toward his son and lay down in the water allowing the water to flow over his shoulders.

"Training has been going well, it is the new schedule that is wearing me out. The new recruits are coming along well but they have a lot to learn. I need them to get use to the schedule and the regiment, fore I haved decided to take a journey."

Princess_Feylin
"I'm glad to hear that, father," Txur said. He was standing in deeper water than his father, and being younger and smaller, the water came up to his chin. He was not unsettled by the depth, however, for he had learned to swim at an early age and was by now quite proficient at it. "About the training, I mean."

He adjusted his footing so that one of the loose rocks underfoot wouldn't cause him to lose his balance when it eventually shifted with the river's current. "I'd noticed that you were keeping different hours, but what about the schedule, in particular, is wearing you out?"

There was nothing he could do about it, really, but he would like to know just the same. However, he lost all interest in his father's craft when he heard that Rajanya was planning on taking a journey. For a moment Txur almost asked if he could accompany his father, for he did harbor a little curiosity about the world outside the pride, but he did not ask. Not yet, anyway.

"Why?" he asked instead.

Raja laughed lightly, "There have been a few extra training sessions in it for me. I need my more experienced warrior in the best condition, I've been teaching them new techinques and how to work with the new warriors as well as training with the new warriors as well."

Raja shifted stretching lightly, "As for the journey, I have many reason. I miss my old life, your mother, my sister. I'm a bit torn and I think I need some time alone. Do not worry, I will come back. I do not want to miss you becoming a priest."

Raja looked up to the sky for a few moments. He needed a break, from everything especially his warriors. One in particular was sending his world into turmoil.

Txur mulled his father's words over. He was only an apprentice priest, and so he was hardly kept any better informed of pridal goings-on than your average pride member, though his friendship with Petra could sometimes give him a glimpse of things which weren't general knowledge. He had heard nothing, however, to indicate that there was any reason for there to be a large number of experienced warriors ready at hand. He wondered if this meant there was a possibility the pride would come under attack again, and hoped fervently that it did not.

"Do you think you'll see my mother?" Txur asked, even though he had told himself he wouldn't ask. He told himself much more firmly that he would not be hurt by his father feeling the urge to leave his family and go back to...whatever he had been before coming to the Iknimaya. Txur wanted nothing more than to live the rest of his life within the pride, with maybe a brief excursion or two beyond the borders for excitement, and he couldn't help being a little confused and hurt by his father's attitude.

"You needn't put yourself to any trouble on my account," Txur said. He wanted his father there, and all the rest of his family, but he had learned that he couldn't always have what he wanted, and that he had to pick his battles. This one wasn't worth fighting.

Raja sighed, "Even if I saw Itzel, her memory will not allow her to remember me. I am unsure, but I do not think I will seek her out. I do not wish unbalance her life, but it would be nice to see her."

Raja smiled slightly, "mostly I want see a bit more of the world and look for my sister a bit more before I settle more fully into the pride. Trust me son, I love it here, but sometimes you need to finish unfinished business."

Raja rose and moved to his son and nuzzled him. "Txur, I will not miss it I promise you. I will be here. Even though I have somethings I need to do, my children are my world."

Princess_Feylin
Believe it or not, Txur had never heard of his mother's memory troubles, and he was decidedly confused by his father's words. What on earth could it mean that she wouldn't remember his father? And how could his father miss someone who wouldn't remember him? That was more than passing strange, to the adolescent's way of thinking. He didn't quite dare to ask if his mother would remember him or his siblings. He got the feeling she wouldn't, but as long as it remained unspoken, he could pretend otherwise. He loved his mother so much without even having known her, it would have been unbelievably painful to be told that she didn't even remember he existed.

"I don't leave unfinished business," Txur muttered a little reproachfully. He was an adolescent, and able to take care of himself, but that didn't mean he couldn't experience feelings of abandonment when he heard his father wanted to leave the pride. The only thing which really salvaged the whole affair was mention of an aunt Txur hadn't known he had.

"Why don't you bring my aunt back with you? That would make a very nice surprise." Even though it wouldn't really be a surprise. "I've never heard you talk about her before, and I'd really like to meet her."

Raja smiled lightly, I wish I could bring her back, but she is bright green and yellow with only a bit of blue. Her colors are wrong, but I will bring her to the borders too meet her nieces and nephews. That is if I find her, we were separated as cubs, I've been looking for her for sometime. I really feel strongly that I will find her soon, or maybe she will find me."

Raja smiled and splashed his son. "Enough about leaving now, Im not going to be leaving just yet. Lets spend the rest of the day together."

Princess_Feylin
Txur made himself laugh. He was seriously displeased with what he was learning from this conversation. "How can she be green and yellow with only a little blue when you're so very blue and purple, and all your cubs are very blue indeed. Except for Mokri and Falk, that is, but they've got blue and purple on them, too."

He was sorry for his father, having been separated from his sister at an early age, but sometimes - especially lately - Txur wouldn't mind being separated from his siblings. He and Atan had gotten into a tiff a little bit ago, and sometimes he just wanted to swat Falk for being so smug and self-confident all the time, which always made him feel guilty.

"What if you don't find her?" Txur asked. "Will you still come back, or are there other people out there who are important to you?" Which was really Txur asking how many other people were more important to Rajanya than his cubs and his pride.

He refused to be jollied by being splashed, and regarded his father stonily. "I can't. I'm supposed to train with Zelt'zin this afternoon. I just came for a quick swim to cool off before my lessons."

Raja sighed at the barrage of questions from his son and his refusal to spend time with, him not that he do not understand. He did.

"My sister got her color from our mother, while I got my color from our father. Sometimes these things happen like that and it can't be helped."

Raja turned moving away from his son and out of the water to rest in the grass. He heart felt heavy knowing young soon was confused. He been raised in the pride secluded from the outside world so he was not certain Txur could understand.

"If I do not find her I will still come back. No one is more important the my cubs, but this is something I need to do and I need you to trust me on this. I will be back. Many individuals at one time find they have a journey they must take. I love you Txur and I will be back."

Princess_Feylin
"Take your time," Txur said, rephrasing what he'd said before. "Take as long as you need."

hat he didn't say was that he hoped if his father got his fill of wandering, he wouldn't leave again. Being part of the pride was like being part of the family, and so Rajanya's impending departure was a double abandonment. He was leaving behind both his kin in the pride and his bloodkin. Txur would forgive him, of course, but in this moment he was in no mood to do so.

"Of course I trust you. When have you ever given me reason not to trust you? I guess I'm just glad you were able to wait until my siblings and I were old enough to get by without you." He smiled insincerely and moved into the middle of the river, where his feet couldn't touch the bottom. He swam briefly to the opposite bank and climbed out, putting the water between himself and his father. He didn't want to continue this conversation, and he was making it as clear as he possibly could.
