Xack might have quite a shirt attention span, but his reactions are quick. He quickly reached the controls, and pushed a lever like object to his left. Grinning, he smirked, "And people wonder why the Lance Stag needs a lance and a shield on each shoulder..."
Suddenly, Lance went faster and with the extra speed, made a cave through the landslide with his lance. It was like knife through butter, over a a few seconds. The shield helped with pushing away the small rocks and as they left the landside, Xack could hear the cave in.
Xack might be a laid back person, but he did his homework before choosing his zoid. It did cost him quite some money, and he wasn't about to let anyone scratch the his new zoid.
"Let's catch up with the others, kay?" He said with a grin as he played with the controls. Nobody gets away with trying to scratch his zoid.

At the first sight, or rather sound, of the powerful Jager behind him, the Command Wolf leaped forward, trying to increase the distance between the Zoids. Zy frowned, looking a bit annoyed but clearly having the time of his life.
"If you're hoping to get me to respond to that, you'd better think again! There is no way I'm falling for that a second time! I'm tired of being called distractable dammit!"
Ok, so he hadn't been called any names out loud, but he knew it was there, just like his reputation for being a bit dim witted. Now, he wanted to erase these negative things, and wanted to do it now, but the problem was that once someone gets something in their mind, it's pretty much stuck. Bad news for Zyali. First impressions being what they were, he was pretty sure everyone thought he was a joke, and it was going to be a long trip up the mountain to gain anyones respect. Not to mention no one was going to want him on their team... and he kinda needed a team to battle.
The Command Wolf growled at the Jager behind him, a warning growl to leave him alone. Zy knew that the pilot of the zoid wouldn't really cut him to peices, that might just be radical enough to get her in trouble, but there was always the chance, and he didn't like having the powerful Zoid behind him. Pressing a few buttons, the black haired pilot came up with a strategy, something he liked to call the 'amateur anti-Jager evasion', which was pretty much nothing more than just keeping his radar locked on the Zoid behind him and leaping diagonally every once in a while. He would not be caught off guard. It would be just what he needed to be labeled a newbie.

The Gun Sniper growled in its throat, aware that the Command Wolf was closing and that the Jager and Lance Stag were not far behind it. But where was that other Gun Sniper? Another thrust of the ion boosters had the young Zoid breaking into an all-out sprint, but it was too light to go any faster than its 200 km/h limit. So close...
Abdiel felt more than a little anxiousness pooling in his stomach as the Jager reappeared right behind Zy. The G forces were pushing him back into the seat, but it put none of the stress on his body that a larger Zoid's top speed would. He could focus. This was the critical time, and Blaze could appear out of anywhere. Not to mention that the Jager could easily catch up and tear his Gun Sniper a new one.
Trying not to seem too impressed with the Lance Stag's performance, Abdiel kept his eye on the finish. This race wasn't over yet.

(( Aww.. It's alright! Take what time ya need.. You have enough stress as is. Thanks for posing for us, though. <3 ))
Kyrea hit the communication link buttom, nodding her affirmative and allowing a visual for a short, two-fingered salute. "Got it. You an' Blaze take care 'til we see you again." There was a hint of concern in that expression of hers, though. What would take Nicky out of their game? She waved a hand in front of her face after her visual screen had vanished, dismissive in gesture. "I'll find out later, Jager. It's time to go double-time. ....Understand?" She smirked, reaching above her head to flick a flat switch forward on the cockpit roof, and another backwards. A red warning light flickered on, and began to flash in an annoying pattern. On, off, on, off, on.... well, you get the picture.
The screens all faded, and merged before the Republican pilot, the cockpit having gone into a deep red shade. A visor lowered, and the girl placed it on her face, words racing past in green and yellow lights. "80% of top speed, thirty seconds. Taking top ridge pass, overlapping leader, avoiding Blaze's last fire." She spoke into a mic, pressing her two handles forwards with a rush of power. The boosters on Jager's back lifted, glowing deeply white and suddenly with a burst of blue fire, they were off with incredible speed. He leapt past the Command Wolf, brushing frighteningly close to the Wolf's side to possibly press him off-course in passing with the sheer force his speed exerted around his frame.
Kyrea would wait for the Lance to catch up. No need going backwards and losing the other two to the finish line. This was a race against time, this is what Ky lived for! Danger, speed, excitement. Life didn't get much better than this. There was incredible g-force pressing Kyrea back, but somehow she was able to lean forwards, so used to this now that it was simply part of her system to partake in great speeds.
"Pick it up, Zyali, or that Gun Sniper will leave you in the dust." Ky said over the com-link, responding and taunting all at the same time. That dust she was talking about came from little else than her own Jager's hind metallic claws as she struck the side of the cliff, nearly running at a ninty degree angle to the actual path. Was that possible? It was brief, but it sure -looked- possible.
Her task was to stop everybody, get them piled nearer, if not ontop of, eachother, and have them battle it out from a dead stop to get to the finish. Jager reached Abdiel about the time the smoke of the last shot fired billowed and began to clear. Would he be surprised that once the smoke screen cleared, a Zero Jager Mirage would be staring his Gun Sniper nearly in the face? Indeed, she swung around to get infront of him, catching up and overtaking with longer bursts of her boosters than she had shown off before. Both golden blades were extended now, glimmering faintly in the dusty view.
She said nothing over the com-link either, but it appeared she was simply now using herself and Jager to block the way.

In a single second, the Gun Sniper went from top speed to much less than that, hurriedly trying to dodge the shelling that he'd had only a moment's notice to try and evade. Abdiel wasn't one to cuss, but he was very close to it as he struggled to restore top speed, get the heck out of dodge, and win this thing. He couldn't rely on his eyes in the dust, so he sought his scanners, and with a groan, he realized that the Jager was quickly overtaking all of them. But he didn't stop. Who cared that her blades were extended? Who cared that she could easily take him down? He'd come this far, and he wasn't going to stop. She didn't scare him.
Aiming his own missle launchers, he pointed them at the cliff that the Jager had used to get its lead, and quickly fired off a volley to send an avalanche of debris tumbling down at them with a muffled explosion, hoping that his forward speed was reduced enough that it would meet the Jager before his Gun Sniper collided with her head-on. It was a risk that he had to take that the Jager would move to avoid it, and in that split second, there was a way to get around her, no matter if the movement was forward or backward. Certainly, with speed alone, the Jager would win, hands down. But this was the real test here, and Abdiel was determined not to fail.

Xack ginned, and took in the excitment. He was a newbie at this, only receiving his zoid this week. Playing with the controls, he increased Lance's speed and connected to the speakers of the other pilots, "Excuse me! Lance Stag coming through!"
Lance gave a loud and low gumbling sound. His war cry echoed through the air, and with it's antlers down, the Lance stag charged forward towards the others madly. Secretly, Lance did really want to stab through any zoid, and hope that Xack won't get overexcited. Metal-zi can be pretty deadly.
Xack felt some invisible force pushing down on him, and although it was really uncomfortable, he realised that it is something he needs to get used to. Grinning, he pitied any zoid that is foolish enough to get in Lance's way.

It didn't take much to figure out what Abdiel was doing when he aimed those weapons at such an off-degree angle, and even as the explosion sent the cliff's edge a'tumble downwards, Kyrea didn't move her zoid. Jager's head didn't even turn to 'see' the problem that was rushing towards them both. The alloy blades remained outwards, stretched fully to block passage, but the one obvious adjustment was the raised boosters upon the Zero Jager Mirage's back. They flickered to blazing life, waiting, making sure the Gun Sniper would be blocked by her until the very last moment. Would Abdiel run into his own trap? That didn't seem likely. He was smart for being so new at this.
Light pinging rattled the Jager's outer armor, the dust cloud growing heavier with the lighter bits of avalanche that she allowed to hit them before sending the Jager full force in a sideways leap, leaving the Gun Sniper to meet its own created avalanche, get covered by it, or follow her.
The Jager quickly cornered, its sharp claws biting into the hard ground beneath him to get to the other side of the falling, and fallen, rock. Kyrea cut it close enough that Jager's blue and white armor was dusty, and maybe even dented in a small spot or two from the larger rocks she allowed to make contact. It looked more or less like a game of dodge and tag. All this she did to meet Abdiel on the other side, but another concern was foremost on her mind; Why was Xack so reckless?
Over the com-link, she replied to his comment with a tsking sound and a flat, unamused voice. "Would you like to see what happens to a zoid whose pilot is too over-anxious? There is plenty more to a Lance Stag than using it as a bulldozer."

Zy frowned, amused and apparently unimpressed by Ky's taunting. Responding with a grin, his voice sounded quite oblivious to what was suppose to make him angry, instead responding with a cheerful response. "Pick it up? Oh, that's funny, I never knew I was down. Apparently you haven't been paying too close attension." Veering away from the close force that had been caused by the Jager, the Command Wolf raced after her, watching the demonstration with the avalanche with a calculating eye. It was interesting, to be sure, but somehow Zy couldn't bring himself to even pretend to be impressed by the Jager. Oh, he had tried. And in all honesty, to an extent he was. It was a beautiful Zoid, and Ky piloted it beautifully. What he didn't like was the pilot's attitude. And that really ground on his nerves. But then again, he supposed it was possible the Senior Pilots were just cocky because they were higher ranked. He'd have to try and ignore that.
The black-haired pilot's eyes focused intensely on the two opponents up ahead, Zy was a little surprised to hear another, rather careless sounding voice flicker over the intercom. Zy blinked, looking only a little confused and very much skeptical as the Lance Stag approached, quirking an eyebrow. "Hey, uh... Lance Stag pilot, you may not want to do that. The object is to race, not battle. Ramming us wouldn't help your position." Chuckling, he shook his head, focusing back on the GunSniper and the Jager.

"Yes, I know." Xack's cheerful voice said over the intercom, "Do pardon me, it's my first time with a Lance Stag... Actually, it's my first time at handling a zoid. Oh, by the way, call me Xack." A hint of amused sarcasm hung over his last sentence as he prushed a few more controls.
"Four-Barreled Light Shock Cannon..." Xack muttered to himself, "I wonder what that'll do... I think it's the only long range attack. I'll need to get it for Lance. I do what Lance Stags are famous fo and they call it bulldozing."
He slowed down his zoid, and continued at a fairly fast speed as he sped past the other two zoids.
When he saw the rocks coming down the cliff, Xack pulled back a bit, allowing Lance to avoid the rocks that were tumbling down. With a bit of luck and careful piloting, Xack manged to get over the second man-made landslide for the day. However, the distance between him and the other racers was widening...
"Geez, these guys love landslides don't they, Lance?" He rolled his eyes as he piloted Lance to bolt towards the other two zoids up front, "And they love to scratch your new armor too. You might need a polish to get rid of those ugly scratches..."

Dragain He slowed down his zoid, and continued at a fairly fast speed as he sped past the other two zoids. Ooc: Not to make a fuss, but don't you think that's a bit... unfair? Now, I know everyone is pissed at me because apparently I'm annoying like that, but I don't think that's reasonable. My sincerest and utmost apologies to you, but I do feel you can't just say you passed us. *shrugs* If I'm alone in this, please, don't hesitate to yell at me. I don't care, I just want to make sure I'm not just being uptight.

Nicky watched the race from the lab windows. She felt a bit irradiated that she had to drop out like that and abandon her team mate. It couldn't be helped though. She rubbed her left eye before putting her favorite shades back on. Blaze seemed just as irritated with the whole situation, but he understood it perfectly. He may be stubborn, but he knew when to listen. It was that special bond a pilot can make with their zoid if treated right.

I've checked the speeds of the zoids in the journal, and I think Lance Stag has the speed to catch up. I'll check again in case I've made a mistake... I'm sorry. Edit: Lance Stag has the fast speed currently, but if I go too far, please stop me and let me know. It's not like Xack's a professional or something. xD;}
