Does anyone else here have or know of the
1977 Pontiac Firebird Formula? It is my baby. I wanted her since I was young. My hubby gave her to me as a present a few yrs ago. My daughter learned how to drive on her. If she can handle her, she could handle just about anything. Well, when she received her full license, she begged me to let her drive it alone. My heart pounding in my chest, I said okay and gave her my keys. A little bit later I my hubby gets a call. She was in an accident. My car!!!
My bird was hit by a truck on the passenger side. I saw it and was literally sick to my stomach. My car! is now in an almost "U" shape. Praise God my daughter was alone and she was unhurt. No one in the truck was hurt either. It took months for my car to be straightened out. Then to have parts from other birds added/welded on to mine. She is almost done. I have a small snag. We changed her hood style from plain to a shaker. The shaker/scoop part doesn't sit high enough. We need to adapt/make some kind of spacer, to lift it up.
Does anyone have any ideas?

This is her shaker hood. We have covered the spot where the shaker/scoop is.

This section; after she was pulled out again; had to come off. We picked up another body and cut out then welded and auto cemented the new pieces here.

i can't help but think that it would be cheaper and more efficient to just buy another car.... But, I guess if it has sentimental value...
As for the hood, I am not sure what you mean by "utilize" it?

Raising her engine will make it even more difficult to use the hood. She needs a spacer for it to fit as is.

The things you find at the junk yard rofl
I hope you have something as a daily driver, cuz if you plan on sticking with that beast, you have a looooong way to go. Is the engine even still good?

The thing I'm most worried about is the solidity of that thing.
1. Per the OP, it's been in a serious accident where it was "in an almost 'U' shape". So the question arises of just how safe/solid is the frame of that car, and how will it stand upon another impact?
2. Looking at the pictures OP has provided, that car has some major rust issues. Again the question of just how strong is that frame still, or how weak/fragile has it become?

I'm sorry to say this, but if the car has been pretzeled that badly the frame is now unsafe. It's re-shell time, if you want it to be safe.
