i n t r o
hi we're alex and lydia and we like makeup and we decided to do a makeup review thread. we'll also review hair products and skin products, don't worry.
every week we'll gather up the things you request and make a poll on the things we want / can do and you choose which ones you'd like us to do. :> since one of us works for minimum wage and the other is a college student, we will be reviewing products that everybody can afford. some weeks we may not be able to review a product request so we'll pull something out of our collection. :>
sometime during the week we'll make a post on that product for your enjoyment. SO ENJOY. thanks~

l y d i a ' s r e v i e w sBloom - Lip Stain firstly, i have to apologise for the delay with this review. what with moving out and moving in and then the events of the first month of university i simply haven't had time to post, let alone write a review. that aside, i finally got around to buying and testing Bloom's Lip Stain in Rhubarb which I bought at Superdrug for £11.50, a little on the pricey side for what i would expect from Superdrug's usually low prices. it comes in an adorable little 1.8ml tube with a pen-like nib for easier application.
i've never tried lip stain before or even been a fan of many lip products besides balms so this was something new and i admit, a little exciting. application was a little strange at first but very easy to get the hang of. you definitely need to store this product with the nib end facing downward or it will dry out a little and become harder to use. i find i prefer a more liberal application, as i said, i've never really used lip products but recently i have been lusting over killer red lips which seem so appropriate in the colder months. anything i'd tried looked tacky and caked on so i was ecstatic when i found the lip stain so easy to build up to a dramatic berry hue without making me look like a 4-year-old ransacking her mother's make up box.
i can't say i've studied exactly how long this lasts but if liberally applied it will last a while (with expected fading) though it doesn't hold up well through eating. i haven't found this to be a problem though as the pen is easy to carry around and very easy to reapply and the stain seems to fade evenly. it does dry out my lips a little but this is easily fixed with some balm or a gloss over the top, i've been using a 7ml sample of Clinique's superbalm moisturising gloss in currant which came free with my copy of elle magazine and it looks amazing with it, very berry-like which is a big trend this season.
before & after shots:
overall, i am in love with this product and all four shades are now on my christmas wishlist! colour: staying power: application: value for money:
OVERALL: coming soon:
Neutrogena's visibly clear 2in1 wash/mask £3.79 Neutrogena's visibly clear oil-free moisturiser £3.79 Clinique's superbalanced foundation £19.50 & many more!

a l e x ' s r e v i e w sCovergirl - Lash Blast Volume i bought this at Canadian Superstore, but i'm sure you could find it...anywhere. it's a pretty well-liked mascara which is why i bought it. i bought it for $10.07. $8.99 + 12% hst. anyway, i really like this. never have i worn a mascara for two weeks straight without finding something wrong with it after the first week. it separated and made my lashes curly and full and just...nice. :> i'm pretty neutral about the brush, it works but i prefer mascaras that have longer bristles. i also like this mascara because it's not dry. it sounds strange, but i HATE dry mascaras. they don't do anything for my lashes and this wasn't too wet or too dry which is nice as well. it doesn't take long to build and unlike the rimmel london mascara i reviewed, it doesn't give me that spider legs look. it may flake a bit during the day, but only when i put a billion coats on to make my lashes really stand out. also i don't sweat it off. i can nap with it on and when i wake up i'll use makeup remover to touch up around my eyes and it's a-ok.
COMPARED TO the lashblast fusion (purple tube), i like this a lot more. if you like natural lashes, then go for the fusion. but i definitely like the volume mascara better. :> it lengthens and volumizes.
4.5 stars overall.

i do not curl my eyelashes. natural:
 mascara:
you may not get the exact same results that i did. this review was based purely on opinion. coming soon: crest 3D Vivid White whitening strips
