Crossing the bridge of Mist was a daunting task in itself, the village was always recognized by this distinct landmark that had been in existence since before her time. It stretched across the water that supplied The Mist with it's resources and also was a huge usher of another one of their trademarks, the dense fog that seemed to engulf everything. Even as she peered over the thick railings of the bridge she could not hear that water that was most defiantly there. How boatmen had gotten around on the waters surface without losing their direction was beyond her. Realizing she had gotten a little sidetracked, she concentrated, keeping her focus before them and at just about everything. She wanted no surprises. Aside from delivering this message she had to train these Genin as well. Maybe she should train them on the way or at Cloud. Satoshi had told her not to rush in delivering the scroll but Mi felt it would be best to get it there as soon as possible. Something this important should not be left to linger. As she led the three Genin Mi felt a little pang of guilt. She had not been at all welcoming to them since the beginning and now she was just a sultry as then. Missions were great opportunities to get to know ones fellow Shinobi but Mi regarded it as something different. It was ample time to see for oneself the capabilities of others.

Rainbow Reaper ❡ Nijiro Hatake space Loyal ✖ Hatake Clan ✖ Mist ✖ Medic ✖ Lazy xxxxxx❧ Nijiro Hatake had kept to the ordered filing system Mi had instructed them to follow, and had also kept the same dark look from when she left the village as well. She didn't want to get close to these people - she didn't want to get close to them and have them ripped away from her like last time. She kept a picture of them on her still, not able to let go of them. Her teammates had survived, but barely, just like her. Their sensei... had not. During her brooding thoughts, smoking pipe still in her mouth, she did not realise when her right hand reached up and placed itself on the left side of her stomach, where her Obi - it's thick strap studded - wrapped itself around her. Just under one of the hidden openings was the photo. When they were attacked it was the first time they had left the village. Nijiro still can't let go that it was somehow her fault, somewhere along the line she could have done something to have helped them.
❝...❞ Grey eyes looked up to Mi's back, completely empty and devoid of any emotion. To Nijiro, Mi was not a sensei; it was easy to see that Mi wanted nothing to do with them. How could she be a worthwhile teacher if she had no desire for the job? Nijiro's head turned, and she looked out over the edge of the bridge, emptying her head of the thoughts. She needed to be focused...

Rainbow Reaper ❡ Nijiro Hatake space Loyal ✖ Hatake Clan ✖ Mist ✖ Medic ✖ Lazy xxxxxx❧ Nijiro Hatake was still clearing her head when Ryo spoke, causing her to blink, not expecting to be talked to. She looked over her shoulder, grey eyes catching Ryo. She gave a lazy smile. They had only just met and Ryo seemed so genuine about his offer - but Nijiro didn't believe it, didn't believe that this could really work, not on such deep a level as that. Still, she couldn't shoot him down with something like 'none of your business', or 'thinking about my dead sense'. There was no call for it. Which was why she was going to lie.
❝Something on my mind? Heh, nope. Gotta keep this all nice and blank, like a piece of paper. How else are you going to learn? Hehe.❞ Nijiro tapped her head to signify what she meant in keeping blank, eyes creased up into crescents and thin lips cocked up into a grin. ❝What about you?❞ She asked, hand holding the smoking pipe. ❝Anything on yours? Hehe.❞

Rainbow Reaper ❡ Nijiro Hatake space Loyal ✖ Hatake Clan ✖ Mist ✖ Medic ✖ Lazy xxxxxx❧ Nijiro Hatake's sharp eyes caught the saddened look and feeling of lack of usefulness from the other genin but didn't press the issue further. It was none of her business, and, even if they were closest of friends, she didn't see it was likely for her to ask anyway. But she also saw how Ryo had put himself down, and she thought that he didn't do himself much justice either. She sighed, turning her head to look back to where they were walking.
❝Half the battle is your mentality.❞ Nijiro spoke, placing the smoking pipe back in her mouth, having given her slightly cryptic advice, knowing that people learn more effectively with figuring stuff out themselves then having it tossed to them without any preamble. But Ryo was right about staying on focus. She didn't want a repeat. Wished that... she wished it had never happened in the first place. She knew that her teammates would go on after graduation... but she had let herself grow close anyway. Nijiro briefly wondered if maybe she should have let them closer. ❝...❞

As they drew further and further away from the village, the dense fog that always surrounded them seemed to lift, the air feeling somewhat too clear for Mi's taste. She didn't say anything but it was something one couldn't really shake off. Without the mist she felt half full. A snap of a twig caused Mi to jump, her attention immediately going off somewhere to the right where underbrush met tree line. Her pale arm was held up defensively before he, A kunai already draw. It had been reflexive and quick on her part to even draw it. Mi had stopped dead in her tracks, awaiting whatever it was that had made that noise to show itself. A few seconds trickled by without anything happening. Getting anxious, she tossed the kunai with a flick of her wrist into the underbrush, aiming at the presence she felt. Hearing a little squeak, she held out a hand to the other's to stay where they were. Following after her Kunai she disappeared into the tree line. After a few minuets she returned with a deceased brown and grey furred hare. She held it by the scruff of it's neck, bringing it along with her as she rejoined the others, to show that it had not been someone but something that had been following them. "It's dead...She pointed out. It was stating the obvious but she was the type of spaced out person to do that. Holding it before the group she looked at everyone, a little unsure of what to do with the dead creature. She felt a little bad for it. Wrong place at the wrong time.

Rainbow Reaper ❡ Nijiro Hatake space Loyal ✖ Hatake Clan ✖ Mist ✖ Medic ✖ Lazy xxxxxx❧ Nijiro Hatake's steps stopped the second she heard the twig snap, her body crouching down low, one leg extended, ready to bolt, right hand holding the smoking pipe out before her like a weapon. Her grey eyes were dark, alert, her face hardened, but despite this outer appearance of being a hardened ninja ready to kill, Nijiro's heart had actually stopped. Her mind was racing with the thought that it was a repeat about to happen. She was running on instinct, on sheer training that had been deeply embedded into her very marrow. At the sound of the squeak, Nijiro's eyes relaxed slightly, knocked out of her stupor. An animal? Had Mi just attacked an animal? Nijiro stayed where she was, watching Mi approach the area where she had thrown the Kunai, waiting until the chuunin returned, hare in hand. Nijiro stood and approached the woman, hand reaching out to touch the animal, feeling that it was still warm. So, it may still have been planted... call her paranoid, but she liked staying alive. Two fingers brushed the blood and she smelt it. Nijiro father had taught her to distinguish various poisons over her time recuperating the last two years. She couldn't smell any poison, and she wasn't in the mood to get any parasites by tasting it.
❝We eat it.❞ Nijiro spoke, lazy smile appearing once more. ❝No point letting it go to waste. If we bury it, a scavenger is just going to dig it back up anyway. I make a good hare-soup.❞ The Hatake clan member stood, waiting for Mi to continue on with their travel.

Gaze flickering from Ryo to Nijiro, she briefly contemplated both suggestions. Grave. Returning what was owed back to nature seemed sensible but in reality, Nijiro's words had more of a realistic spin on the fate of the body. Besides, it would do for good practice material. Skinning a hare was a good practice for anatomical practice. Even if it wasn't human it was still good to acquire knowledge. Then it could provide for nutrients. "Let's just leave this here then."She said, moving back towards the tree line and tossing the corpse back in. Even though she had seemed repentant earlier it passed, her indifference showing in the way she easily chucked the body back into the woods. Some other creature could benefit from the easy meal and thus the circle of life was complete. "Excuse the distraction."She said, not meeting either of their gazes. She took lead again and continued pressing forwards, paving the way for the group.

Generally nothing was going a miss, no sudden assaults had been launched since their departure. The landscape began to change drastically, growing more and more unfamiliar. It wasn't until Mi began to pick out familiar trail markers that she finally recognized the trail they were currently taking. She sped up a little, knowing that the group would follow her pace. They had finally gotten to The Cloud.

Out of breath and panting, Mi came to abrupt stop, halfway in between the gates to Cloud and Mist. She was covered in sweat and was very exhausted. She needed to get him in order to return as soon as possible to her team. The same team she had traveled with when she had come here. Whipeing her brow, she took a few more seconds to catch her breath. Long distance running was not her thing and her unconditioned body was taking in the punishment. If she continued to run eventually her 'runner's high' would kick in again and ease her pains. The idea of starting again was not all to appealing but leaving her team for a long period of time was just as bad. Starting off slowly at a jog she bent her knees slightly, forcing chakra into her legs to give her boost of speed and took off at a run once again.
