Uli was in a better mood since chatting with Mawu again, but he wasn't entirely convinced to go out and be social. He was thinking more seriously about braving up and just asking about becoming a guard. He wouldn't have to have any awkward conversations with his uncle and if he asked nicely, maybe the head guard would accommodate his desire to avoid his half-brothers.

Until he decided, though, he was taking his time and .. not really doing anything, while feeling guilty about it. He was trying to avoid going to bother his mother and father again, he expected they would be a little disappointed with him for being so antisocial and indecisive. He had found a tree in the mostly flat and bare lands and was sitting in the shade, hiding from the afternoon sun.

"Hmph."

"Ugh," grumbled Alizeti. He much preferred the grace of the moon, as most of the lions here did. He also didn't like the heat of the sun, even if his coat wasn't as dark as some of the other lions within the pride. Those that had stars splattered on their coat must have it worse, as the majority of their coat was dark, or black.

Still, he didn't like to hunt in it, and today he was avoiding it. Maybe he could go out when the wrath of the sun's heat wasn't so harsh. He wandered around, wondering just what he was doing. Waiting for this...this female to come was driving him nuts, and he couldn't keep himself still anymore.

Uli spotted the pale stranger wanering around nearby and just stared, having nothing better to do. He didn't recognize him, they were not in the same class. He did look familiar, though. He could easily place which family he was a part of, which made him sure of the fact it was another pride member. But that didn't encourage him to go and chat as it should have. He wasn't high classed, he wasn't a slave, he could be anywhere in between.. but, that seemed better than high class for approachability.

But he got lost in staring, watching him go along. He didn't look very cheerful. Not at all.

And suddenly, Alizeti sneezed.

It shook him up pretty well, and the lion had to take a moment to reground himself. What was that? Maybe a fly and flown too close to his nose, but it certainly threw him off. What was he thinking about earlier? Where was he going? He glanced around, wondering if he could figure it out. Bit by bit, but there wasn't anything around. Oh, there was a fellow member...but as he was just staring, maybe he was in a way different class than Alizeti, and avoiding him. Which...wouldn't bother him, but reminded him that he himself just might be a Lord in the future. Shivering with that thought, he just stared in return at the stranger.

When Alizeti sneezed, Uli jumped. It didn't matter how far away they were from each other, it had startled him. His eyes were wider as he continued to stare at the blue lion, though now not for the same reasons. He was startled by the sneeze too-- and he was looking this way. And then they entered a staring contest, which was extremely awkward. He didn't last very long and eventually he coughed intentionally and glanced away- but not for long. Was he going to keep going? Should he say something now that he had been caught staring? How worried was he about being rude?

How long had it been since he sneezed now? It seemed like forever, but it could have only been seconds. Either way, he had better say something.

"H-hey!" he called out, loud enough that he should be heard despite the distance between them.

Alizeti himself had torn his eyes away, knowing that he had been looking in a direction, but his mind elsewhere. Though it seemed right after he turned his head, he had offended whoever that was over there. Whoops.

Shuffling his paws together, he made his way towards the stranger. This was going to be reeeeally awkward if he ended up being a slave, but Alizeti had no way of knowing that. He...never really paid much attention to who was a slave and who wasn't. Besides the old king, anyway. Everyone probably knew that....even those born after his "fall". Choices, whatever.

"H-hi," he said. "Sorry about sneezing there."

"Huh?"

What a weird thing to apologize for, he could hardly take credit for sneezing. Uli didn't think he could sneeze on command if his life depended on it. And that was the truth.

"No, I'm sorry for staring, I didn't really mean to," he said, smiling sheepishly, "There's not really anything to do out here, I didn't pick a good place to hang out. You were the only thing moving around so you caught my attention."

Well, there was one bonus for being high class. You didn't have to worry so much about the things you said. He could offend or annoy whoever he wanted, not that he would be trying to.

Alizeti sure agreed with the fact that there's nothing to do out here right now. He bobbed his head in agreement. "Yeah, there really isn't. Waiting for the sun to lower more before going out on a hunt." He could probably find at least one other to go with him, as it wasn't much fun to hunt alone. Maybe his brother would go with him. His sister...probably not, knowing how she was.

"Sorry to bother you again," he said, judging that this lion was at least a bit above him in class. "Waiting for the moon to rise?" he asked as well, hoping for a bit of conversation.

"Nah, I technically bothered you, I think," he said, still smiling, "I'm not really doing anything in particular, though it would be more comfortable once the sun is down and the moon is up." He nodded for emphasis. He was dark enough that it was much more comfortable in the night than the day but.. he wasn't really waiting for it.

"So, you're a hunter?" he said, looking around, "This doesn't seem like a very busy spot for hunting."

Of course, he'd indicated he was waiting to hunt, not hunting right now.

"Yeah," he said. "It's really empty over here." There wasn't really even anyone else around. Had he wandered further out than he had meant to? ....Probably. That's what happened if you let yourself to your thoughts while letting your paws wander around freely. He'd have to not do that again, in case he walked further than he meant to.

"I let my mind distract me from where I was going. I should probably go find my brother, see if he wants to hunt with me. Maybe bring back extra for some of the other pride members."

"Yeah," he agreed, looking around. This wasn't the best place to go when you intended to socialize. He frowned thoughtfully and looked back to Alizeti suddenly when he started saying he was going to head back off again. Clearly he didn't really want to stick around and chat but this was really awkward from the start anyway so Uli couldn't really blame him. But it wasn't very encouraging.

"Yeah, ok, have a good day," he murmured, "Sorry about the staring."

Maybe he should go find Mawu again..
PostPosted: Sun Sep 12, 2010 6:31 pm

Alizeti nodded. "Farewell." That was awkward, but he didn't know what else to do. He was feeling more certain that that lion was of higher rank, but it was certainly an....interesting experience no matter how you swung it. Oh well, maybe he'd ask some of his family another day. For now, it was time to go find his brother, and by that time the sun would be low enough to start a hunt without melting in it's rays. Stupid sun.
