The Wizarding World of Gaia is intended to be a friendly community in which everyone’s characters are appreciated. Because of this atmosphere, we tend to write each other fanfiction, make icons for other members’ characters, throw fanwork fests starring plots woven by other roleplayers, and generally feel free to pillage and rape the characters of our fellow posters.
But some of us might not be comfortable about such liberties being taken with our characters. They are often like our children - we see them in an entirely different light than the rest of the world, and we become fiercely defensive if we feel that they’re being misrepresented. For some of us, the idea of our prized character being in the clutches of another writer/artist is a daunting, if not troubling, concept.
So with everyone’s comfort levels in mind, I’ve decided to make a National Do Not Create list (a parody of the National DNC List created to protect phone numbers from unwanted telemarketers) so that members can express their disapproval of the creation of fanworks (from fanfiction to icons to fanart, etc) or have their desire to be asked first expressed in plain view for other members to see. Whether you don’t want anyone else’s fingers on your character, or you just want a heads-up for sanity’s sake, the DNC List is here to save everyone some headaches.
