I think this is important topic I should put out there for Gaga fans to think about.
As some of you may have experienced, liking a 'mainstream' artist can get you in the middle of intense fire from disgruntled hipsters,insufferably snobby music majors,insufferably snobby artists,older people who are dismissive of the 'new stuff' and so on.Many will go on and on about how she is a fake b***h who uses MTV slut tactics to get her fame etc.She's "bad" for the little girls (because buying them model thin barbie dolls and sticking them in front of s**t TV all day is sooo much better rolleyes .) They say everything she does is one big act yatta yatta.
The usual ignorant and bigoted criticism.
I want to lay down some wonderful music artist that most would consider non-mainstream etc.
Bjork
The Knife/Fever Ray
Portishead
These are only a few but I'm hoping at least some of you have a clue to who they are and if not WIKI THAT s**t
Anyway, this is not saying Gaga is better then these artists or anything but these three artists are quite amazing,talented and have unique styles to their music. Much like our dear Lady. The similarities between Gaga and them are quite obvious really. But unfortunately, Gaga being haggled by the paparazzi and being a international pop star leaves a bad taste in people's mouth.
Let's face it, some people are ******** paranoid to look like mindless sheep jumping on the next fad. in this case, liking Lady Gaga. Hell, even if someone doesn't like her music, I think people should be more god damn aware of this precious pearl the music world has received. A genuine artist with a lot of talent and passion for what she does.An artist that has the potential to do great things for music.'Bad Romance' may make some people want to rip there hair out but at least I hope to spread the general message that Gaga is REAL and who she is and what she is trying to do REAL.

Goldfrapp and Cascada as well, though not as much. Also Shakira gets ignored for all the good she does outside of making music.
There are in fact still people in the business, who make music for the sake of the pure perfection that is true quality music. And GaGa is one of them. She's just the most popular one, and as we all know, popularity is a double-edged sword, especially in the media of the US

exactly.
i see people scared of being a gaga fan because she's main stream.
THESE are the people who TRY to be different.
and it BLINDSS them from knowing good musicians.

I love a lot of "popular" artists, including Gaga, and I tend to get a lot of crap for it. :/
Me: "Oh I like -insert randomly random song here-"
Random Friends: "lol well u like Lady Gaga and Ke$ha so u have no taste is music lolol."

I love a lot of "popular" artists, including Gaga, and I tend to get a lot of crap for it. :/ Me: "Oh I like -insert randomly random song here-" Random Friends: "lol well u like Lady Gaga and Ke$ha so u have no taste is music lolol." =____= It never gets old! It always gets me angry .. You would think that I get thicker skin from all those types of comments but it still always annoys me when people say I'm lazy in musical knowledge so I like people like Lady Gaga. Sighhhh.
