Hobbies/interests:

☪ 武术(Wushu/Kung-Fu) – The Chinese Martial arts play an important role in Ming-Mei’s out of school life and has been something she has kept with since her elementary school days. Years of training has made her skilled in what she does, though not enough so that she is overcome by her own pride, choosing to remain humble when speaking of her training progress. The various aspects that are taught during her training are often used in her everyday life; such as patience, respect for herself and for others, a constructive means of channeling her frustrations and an understanding of her own body.

Of all the styles of Kung Fu that Ming-Mei had at some point practiced, Tai Chi Chuan (太極拳)is the one that she is most partial to. She feels that the ability to counter harshness with softness is something that can be used in both combat and in everyday life, and from personal experiences has found that such a philosophy has had more positive than negative results. The training also gives various health benefits.

    ~Ming-Mei Commentary~
内外相合,外重手眼身法步,内修心神意氣力。Only then will you reach full balance.

Translated As - Train both Internal and External. External training includes the hands, the eyes, the body and stances. Internal training includes the heart, the spirit, the mind, breathing and strength.

☪ 風水(Feng shui) – The practice of finding harmony and balance through the careful positioning of objects in ones environment to ensure the best possible flow of good qi. Ming-Mei picked up this hobby from her mother, who uses this practice on a professional level for her work. She finds this to be a calming and creative hobby, getting great amounts of enjoyment through the various combination she may come up with and can on occasion be seen requesting the chance to use this skill to re-design the rooms of her friends.

    ~Ming-Mei Commentary~
Feng shui takes the creativeness of internal decorating and the mythical aspects of my culture to make something that is as rewarding as it is fun. I would feel honored to be given the chance to use my knowledge of this field to your assistance.

Cooking – In the hands of a skilled Chinese chef, even the most inedible ingredients can be turned into a tasty and interesting snack. At least, that’s what Ming-Mei seemed to believe when she took up this hobby shortly upon entering middle school. Cooking for her is always a new type of adventure as she experiments with all sorts of exotic ingredients and recipes. Unfortunately, sometimes these are adventures best left for a much later date as more often than not her choice of ingredients to not mix well together at all. Not that she lets this put a damper on her parade.

    ~Ming-Mei Commentary~
Come~! Let me cook for you something that is as strange as it is delicious!

Virtues:

☪ Zenned Out – Ming-Mei is the kind of person who is always relaxed, no matter what situation may seem to present itself and is constantly giving off a vibe of complete and utter calm. Years of meditation have taught her that there is no point in getting angry or upset, that only through calm calculation and understanding, and then finally action can an issue be solved effectively. While she is not completely incapable of showing anger, she is fairly quick to let it drop.
☪ Modest/Humble – You will never see this girl bragging about her conquests in her martial arts training or the absolutely amazing dish or room she may have designed. She will humbly accept praise with a modest and almost hesitant manner. It isn’t as if she doesn’t take pride in her work, it’s just she feels that there are always things that could have been done better and would much rather have constructive criticism then blatant praise.
☪ Optimistic – “Even if the rain is heavy, you should get happily wet.” Ming-Mei is the kind of person who sees the cup as half full. There is always something good that comes from a situation, no matter how dreary or disheartening it may be. While this philosophy is not something she pushes onto others, she tends to bring it into practice in her own life whenever something brings her down.
☪ Dedicated – No matter what the task, Ming-Mei will take it on with a fierce dedication and all that she has. She’ll never be seen giving up halfway or putting in minimal effort. No! To do that would be to admit defeat and bring bad qi into her life. Instead, even if something is difficult, she will go the extra lengths to complete it – no matter what.

Flaws:

☪ Has a Hard Time Expressing Feelings – The negative side of her normally calm exterior is that she seems to have an incredibly difficult time sharing her feelings when they do reach the point where they cannot be left alone. This often leads to her becoming frustrated with herself and those around her for not noticing her silent pleas, and is often forced to hold things in for a long time until she can finally find the voice to express herself. She seems to believe this inability to speak her emotions is due to a fear of rejection, but this may or may not be the case.
☪ Greedy – Ming-Mei has an awful tendency of taking more then she should. Whatever it is, she is often the first in line for it and nearly always takes twice the amount she should be, often leaving others without. She doesn’t even seem to be aware of it, and even when confronted she seems to refuse to accept that this is not acceptable behavior.
☪ Self-Doubting – There is always this small nagging feeling of doubt in her abilities that has been in Ming-Mei since childhood that makes her feel as if she will never truly be capable of mastering anything. It takes a long time to reassure her that even after all the work she has put into something that it is even remotely passable, and she has even been known to try and take things back just before they are presented, though she always seems to be caught in the act at some point.

Likes and Dislikes
Fav. Food:"Buddha Jumps the Wall"(佛跳墙 Fotiaoqiang). - A dish consisting of various ingredients (shark's fin, shark's lip, fish maw, abalone, squid, sea cucumber, chicken breast, duck chops, pork tripe, pork leg, minced ham, mutton elbow, dried scallop, winter bamboo shoots, xianggu mushrooms, etc.) which are all separately seasoned and steamed before being put into a small-mouthed clay jar along with cooking wine and a dozen or so boiled pigeons eggs. The jar is then covered and put initially into an intense fire before then simmering for some time on a lower, slower fire. Local liquor is then added to the jar, which simmers for another five or so minutes before the meal is finished.

This meal, along with many other traditional Chinese style dishes brings back memories of the first four years of life she spent in China and therefore has a special place in Ming-Mei’s heart. Her tastes may seem a bit extreme to most but to her dishes such as these, when well prepared, are the absolutely best thing in the entire world.

~Ming-Mei Commentary~
Simply because some of the ingredients look strange to you does not mean that they are any less edible and savory for me. I believe the term in the English slang would be: Do not knock it before you try it.

Hated Food: There really are no foods that Ming-Mei will not eat, simply because her Chinese heritage does not allow the idea of letting such a precious gift of food go to waste simply due to something as inconsequential as taste.

~Ming-Mei Commentary~
‘The masses regard sufficient food as their heaven.’ It’s an old Chinese proverb but… it is most relevant.

The Senshi
(currently LOCKED)

Challenge: The blossoming of the bamboo heralds your demise.

Senshi Form

Stages:

First Stage - Sailor Methuselah*, Senshi of Bamboo.
Second Stage - Super Sailor Methuselah, Senshi of Bamboo.
Third Stage - Eternal Sailor Methuselah, Senshi of Bamboo.
*To save time while in battle, she insists on being called Methu instead of her full title. This allows for the message to get across without having to say the elongated name.

Senshi Fuku:
☪ Bodice
☪ Collar
☪ Skirt
☪ Frontal Bow
☪ Shoes
☪ Gloves
☪ Tiara

Senshi Colors: Green, White, Gold, Fresh Green

Senshi Attacks:

Sailor Scout Attack - Bamboo Forest of Methuselah. By connecting with here sphere, Methuselah produces a handful seeds which she tosses out towards the opponent or in a circle around herself. The seeds then proceed to grow into a small forest of bamboo within a matter of thirty seconds upon the completion of the attack (which is signaled by the abrupt raising of her left hand). The attack require minimum effort and concentration upon initial use, but there is a short ‘re-charging’ period that leaves her vulnerable. This re-charge time will decrease exponentially as she matures as a Senshi.

Offensive: If the opponent is unfortunate to be standing on the seeds when the attack is released, they will be lifted into the hair roughly eight feet by the growing stalks and depending on their weight will usually be sent sky-bound by the sudden force of the growing plants beneath them. The initial damage from contact is minimal, but the landing after the opponent is sent skywards ranges from medium to heavy.

Defensive: When done in a circular formation, the bamboo forest provides a temporary cover from attack. However, due to the less dense formation brought on by the larger spread of seeds, it is still very possible for an opponent to make their way through the clumps of bamboo.

Super Sailor Scout Attack - Mass Flowering The bamboo shoots that have already been released suddenly burst into blossom, drawing the attention of nearby vermin which flock to the flowers in small swarms. The attack is useless unless there is a sufficient amount of vermin in the area, and takes considerably more concentration then the previous attack. However, it is an ideal distraction when available for use.

Offensive: There are no real offensive purposes to this attack, though one could say that the diseases possibly carried by the rats are an indirect attack.

Defensive: The confusion brought on by the sudden vermin infestation makes for a wonderful distraction and will allow Methuselah the chance to either summon up more seeds or attempt to go in for some hand to hand combat.

Eternal Sailor Attack - Methuselah’s Limitless Staff An attack that utilizes her knowledge of kung-foo and her sphere, Methuselah creates a weapon similar in nature to the Ruyi Jingu Bang, a weapon wielded by the Monkey King in Chinese mythology that is capable of changing shape and size. However, unlike the one wielded by the Monkey King, this one is made of bamboo and does not weigh a ton. Despite what the attacks title may suggest, it is not capable of limitless range; instead it can reach roughly fifteen feet. The longer the pole extends however, the more awkward it’s wielding.

Offensive: The pole has three offensive capabilities. The first is that it can be used as a traditional staff like weapon, allowing for minimal to medium strength strikes at a fairly rapid pace. The second possibility involves the weapon being trusted and then extended when it makes contact with the opponent, sending them forward until the pole can no longer do so and depending on their weight causing them to be forced backwards one to three feet from the force, doing medium damage upon contact and minimal to heavy damage should the opponent collide with something. The last would be a sweeping like motion done through extending the pole while swinging it in a horizontal fashion.

Defensive: The pole is made of bamboo, which is a fairly durable material. Against another weapon that does not have the ability to immediately cleave through it the staff supplies a fairly moderate form of protection.

The Planet/The Biblical Figure

User Image

PSR B1620-26 b/Methuselah, The Planet:
PSR B1620-26 b is an extrasolar planet located approximately 12,400 light-years away from Earth in the constellation of Scorpius (the Scorpion). It bears the unofficial nicknames "Methuselah" and "the Genesis planet" due to its extreme age.

While the name "Methuselah" is not officially recognized, it is commonly used to refer to the planet in popular articles. The name stems from a biblical figure - notably the only planet to receive a biblical names - who was the oldest living person.

PSR B1620-26 b orbits a pair of stars. One, the pulsar, is a neutron star spinning at 100 revolutions per second. The second is a white dwarf with a mass of 0.34 solar masses. These stars orbit each other at a distance of 1 AU about once every six months. As the first planet found in the system, the planet's designation is PSR B1620-26 b.

The planet has a mass of 2.5 times that of Jupiter, and orbits at a distance of 23 AU (3,400 million km), a little larger than the distance between Uranus and the Sun. Each orbit of the planet takes about 100 years.[8]

The triple system is just outside the core of the globular cluster Messier 4. The age of the cluster has been estimated to be about 12.7 billion years, and because all stars in a cluster form at about the same time, and planets form together with their host stars, it is likely that PSR B1620-26 b is also about 12.7 billion years old. This is much older than any other known planet, and nearly three times as old as Earth.

The origin of this pulsar planet is still uncertain, but it probably did not form where it is found today. Because of the decreased gravitational force when the core of star collapses to a neutron star and ejects most of its mass in a supernova explosion, it is unlikely that a planet could remain in orbit after such an event. It is more likely that the planet formed in orbit around the star that has now evolved into the white dwarf, and that the star and planet were only later captured into orbit around the neutron star.

Methuselah, The Biblical Figure:

Methuselah or Metushélach (Hebrew: מְתוּשֶׁלַח / מְתוּשָׁלַח, Modern Mətušélaḥ / Mətušálaḥ Tiberian Məṯûšélaḥ / Məṯûšālaḥ ; "Man of the dart/spear", or alternatively "when he dies/died, it shall be sent/has been sent") is the oldest person whose age is mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, given as 969 years. Extra-biblical tradition records that he died on the 11th of Cheshvan of the year 1656 (Anno Mundi, after Creation), 7 days before the beginning of the Great Flood. According to Rashi on Gen. 7:4, The Holy One delayed the Flood specially because of the 7 days of mourning for the righteous Methuselah in his honour. Methuselah was son of Enoch and the grandfather of Noah.

The name Methuselah has become a general synonym for any living creature of great age.

Methuselah is mentioned in one passage in the Hebrew Bible, Genesis 5:21–27, as part of the genealogy linking Adam to Noah. The genealogy is repeated, without the chronology, at 1 Chronicles 1:3, and also appears at Luke 3:37.

And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and Methuselah begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he [was] not; for God took him. And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech: And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.

Methuselah appears in two important Jewish works from the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC. In the Book of Enoch, where Enoch (as the narrator) tells Methuselah of the coming worldwide flood and of the future Messianic kingdom. The Book of Jubilees names Methuselah's mother and his wife – both are named Edna – and his daughter-in-law, Betenos, Lamech's wife.

The 17th century midrashic Sefer haYashar ("Book of Jasher"), describes Methuselah with his grandson Noah attempting to persuade the people of the earth to return to godliness. All other very long-lived people died, and Methuselah was the only one of this class left. God planned to bring the flood after all the men who walked in the ways of the Lord had died (besides Noah's nuclear family). Methuselah lived until the ark was built, but died before the flood, since God had promised he would not be killed with the unrighteous. The Sefer haYashar gives Methuselah's age at death as 960 and does not synchronize his death with the flood.

A Personal Shout Out

XXXXI'm looking for someone who can make graphics for my Ming-Mei's journal. As a general, I'll pay 5k for each banner, possibly more depending on detail. Contact me through P.M. if you are interested.

~*~*~*~

Ming-Mei's Name - How to Pronounce It

①. Ming is straight forward, using the first tone mark (ī), which stands for the flat or high level tone. It is said just as it is written.
②. Mei uses the second tone mark (é), which is a rising or high-rising tone. Without the tone it would sound like the month of may.
③. Zhu also used the first tone mark (ū). Without the tone, it would be said like the word jew.
④. Ge does not have a tone mark. It is said like guh.
All together is would be something like this – Mīng-Máy Jēwguh
