It had been a while since Azzo last visited the library. Mostly because of the 'sleeping' sickness everyone had, however also because he'd been busy.

He'd been busy looking for jobs in the entertainment field. However, those he found were slightly hard to come by and then he had a stroke of genius.

He'd taken off with a puppet in hand telling Gram's he'd be back later, not to fee Merlin too much human food while he was gone. It was when he walked into the Library that he wasn't sure if this was a good idea. Would Tony even go for it?

Azzo looked around and then propped himself at an empty front desk. It seemed everyone was browsing or reading at the moment and it gave him a chance to bother Tony. He tried to peek around the back to see if Tony was there.

Tony wasn't at the front desk today, but rather his own desk behind it. He was on the phone with an exasperated look on his face. These calls weren't uncommon, as most people thought that if they just called in and tried to barter or argue their way out of a fine they wouldn't have to pay them. Unfortunately, though the word never spread and people kept trying it, it rarely worked. Save for the 'well, I was in a coma' excuse as of late.

Which he was sure this man was lying about, as most of the fines were incurred before that particular epidemic broke out, and the system had been backdated to exclude that time from the billing time. He was explaining this to the man, who got increasingly angry until he just hung up.

Sighing, Tony hung up as well, shaking his head. He'd be hearing from that man again.

Looking up, he spotted the familiar young man at the front desk and smiled in relief. At least he knew Azzo was going to be civil. Right? He moved to the front desk, smiling a warm greeting. "What can I help you with?"

Azzo was going to be civil. It was unlike Azzo to be civil unless someone actually started something. He was leaning on the desk waiting for Tony to get finished, rather amused at some of the littler kids that had noticed the puppet and was watching from afar.

When Tony was done Azzo smiled, it was one that might have reason to cause a little worry. "Mr. Darrow!" He said with a grin before continuing, "It's been a while, how're you?" He added, the little civilities would hopefully be helpful this particular trip.

The marionette seemed to be waltzing across the floor, as the kids eyes were on it. "I know you're probably busy, however, I believe I have a proposition that you might be interested in."

Tony saw Azzo's smile and was instantly on edge. With that last call trying to get something out of him, he was on the look out for more. It seemed that Azzo's visit might not have been entirely harmless. Did he have a fine or something? Tony hoped not: his patience had already been worn down, and he was not liable to be lenient on anything now. Not that he had been before, but still.

Azzo's choice of words made him chuckle, though, and he automatically responded with, "you're propositioning me?" then realized that was completely inappropriate and shook his head and hands, as if to erase that last thing he had said.

"Forgive me," he sighed, leaning on the front counter, a little down from Azzo to not impede on the young man's own leaning area.

"What's this proposal, then?" he asked, eying the puppet in Azzo's hands. This could either go well, be normal, or, if the puppet was any indication, it had the option of getting very strange, very fast.

Tony was hoping for the former.

Azzo noted the humor, well not everyone took puppets seriously. It was okay, Azzo just needed something to do after classes.

"Yes, yes I am." He said with a nod before motioning to the puppet as he sat her on the counter. "I've noticed the Library has a lack of entertainment for the kids." Azzo said as he watched Tony.

"I was wondering if you'd be interested in possibly, an occasional puppet show?" The princess slouched a bit as her strings weren't holding her up for the moment, a few of the kids made slight faces of disappointment as the puppet stopped dancing and was sat on the counter. At least those that had been fascinated by the puppet's movement.

Tony watched the puppet warily. He had nothing against them, but they were creepy. Just creepy. They had never proven to be evil, or attacked him in his sleep or something, but he still wasn't a fan of them in general. Still, they could get creepier. At least this one was fairly innocuous.

"Lack of entertainment? Well, we've a young woman, who comes in and reads to the children..." he tilted his head, thinking she did a good job of it, and it was at least some kind of entertainment. The kids seemed to like it, too, which was a bonus.

Kids were hard to please. Particularly in a library.

"Uh... a... puppet show? I'm not sure what that has to do with... checking out books and reading..." he could come up with ways that it directly tied in, of course, but he was giving Azzo a chance to pitch the idea fully.

Azzo nodded as he stood there, "Well sure you have that, but how interactive can that can?"

It seemed tony made him think, Azzo paused and looked around. "Well obviously I have to have to material to run said puppet shows from."

Azzo paused, "Oh yeah I need to return this." He pulled out a book that he'd grabbed not long ago. Princess and the pea. "I was figuring I could use stories like this one for the kids."

Taking a moment to think he added, "They can become interactive too, and it interests the kids to see what else there is in the library. It'd probably also help them keep their imagination active." He smiled, "Besides it's not like I'm not asking to do Punch and Judy."

Tony frowned thoughtfully. He supposed it could get interactive, if they wanted it to. The kids were often active and liked to get right up next to the book. As far as he knew anyway, when he looked over. He wasn't sure of all the intricacies of it, however, as he was often busy at the front desk, or off in the library, and tended not to have time to watch while readings were going on.

Anyway, it would have been strange for him to be standing there, without a kid as an excuse, even if he was the librarian. He didn't want to look like a creeper.

Tony looked at the book, nodding and taking it. Normally he would ask people to drop books in the return box, instead of them leaving the books on the counter or waiting in line thinking he needed to check them in personally. But it wasn't putting him out just to check the book in now, since there was no one in line.

And it gave him something to look at.

"Punch and Judy? Ah. Yes. Children seeing things hitting each other in a library... that would be fun," he laughed, "well. Uh. I suppose we could... give it a trail run? I assume you're volunteering, unless you're pitching at me for a job?"

Azzo watched Tony take the book and check it back in. He nodded as he stood there and watched tony think it over.

"Yeah, who needs violence in a library right?" He chuckled. He paused when Tony said pitching for a job or volunteering. It seemed to take Azzo a moment to consider, "Well... the puppeteer would most probably be best as a volunteer thing."

He paused, "If I wanted a job I'd come in with a paper application too."

Tony sighed, leaning on the counter to ease the strain on his leg. He watched the younger man, considering things. He didn't know Azzo that well, but did know he was a nice kid. Trustworthy, as far as Tony knew. Good with children? Tony had no idea on that front, but since he was pitching the idea the librarian had to assume he knew what he was getting in to.

"Maybe we'll do a test performance, then. We'll schedule you for a show, and see if the kids want to come and see. Then see how it goes. We'll work out a schedule from there if it works out?"

He tilted his head, thinking it was a good offer.

And besides, sometimes the kids in the library got a little wild, and it was a good idea to have a few things they could be engaged in. That way he wouldn't have to deal with them getting lost or messing with the 'big kid' books so much.

That would be nice.

Azzo smiled when Tony seemed at least inclined to give him a chance. Giving a nod before smiling, "You're free to help set up if you'd like. So you know that things aren't going to be 'too wild' if you will."

Azzo was 'okay' with kids, they seemed to be more interested in the puppets than him most of the time. Which was okay with him, he shrugged softly and pondered. "So how've you been? I'm supposing slightly busy with that sleep pandemic."
PostPosted: Fri Sep 17, 2010 8:13 pm

Tony blinked at the offer. He was free to help set up? What, like do the grunt work? Of course, now that it was on the table, Tony would certainly offer to help, but he felt like he had been led into that one. Or maybe he was over thinking it.

The young man probably meant that he could help supervise the set up, make sure things were to the library's standards, to his own standards, so things didn't get out of hand.

Why was he being so paranoid?

"Ah, yes, that sounds good," he said, nodding his head and offering a warm smile of agreement, "Whenever you want to do it, it should be fine. Unless you pick the one day of the week that I actually have off."

At Azzo's question he frowned, then shrugged his shoulders, shifting a bit. "I've been well. I can't complain, I suppose, since I did wake up. It's been a lot to catch up on, but I'm thankful for it. How about you? Were you affected by that whole... mess?"

Azzo nodded with a chuckle, "Good it's easier to make sure things are safe for the kids and what not with someone checking behind you."

He gave a soft nod, he hardly expected Tony to do grunt work. He was well.... he was Tony. As much as Azzo respected the man there was that clumsiness that would probably end up making Azzo edgy around the set.

Azzo paused, "Ah well, that's good, at least your library seems to be in one piece."

It took him a moment, "Yeah... which is probably unfortunate... considering any schoolwork I might've missed or well I seem to be missing life in general lately." He frowned for a fraction of a second before shaking his head. "Hopefully my parents don't feel the need to come back from over seas...." He muttered as he knew they had threatened to before they left.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 18, 2010 10:57 am

Tony didn't mean to be clumsy of course, but it was probably better not to have him around something he was unfamiliar with. Particularly since he was on his cane. He was a dutiful man, and could obviously accomplish a simple task like putting together a puppet stage, but sometimes it was just better to not take the risk.

He frowned, rubbing the back of his neck. He didn't really want to talk about the coma, or the 'dreams' they had been forced to endure. He shook his head, sighing.

"Ah, yes, well," he said, "I suppose life moves on. I'm sure things will get better, once everything smooths out, and we all get used to, ah. Well. Whatever normalcy we had before, I suppose." He smiled reassuringly, or as close as he could come.

"In any case, when do you want to come by to do this show? We can make a little sign for it, for the kids to see. Or, more importantly, the parents."

Azzo nodded, "Hopefully things will become more normal as time goes by." Which his outings at night had decreased drastically, Azzo hadn't felt the need to run outside lately and tried to ignore the feeling of monsters.

Azzo was thinking when the question was asked, "Perhaps a weekend in October?" He said, "In the afternoon of course. More parents would probably have time to come to that and bring their kids."
