This is the place for anyone wishing to discuss the upcoming movie Legend of the Guardians:The Owls of Ga'Hoole, so if you have any questions, please feel free to post them in here.

I don't want to say too to much for anyone that hasn't read it, but I really wonder how much they strayed from the books and fabricated story and characters themselves. Looking at the characters and synopsis.. it's not quite adding up.

I can't wait for this movie. Even if the storyline is completely mangled the animation will still be amazing.
I hope they don't mess up the plot though...

Neither you or Requiem are alone in regards like these, i can honestly assure you.

I wonder if they'll keep Twilight's war-speeches, though?

@Javier: I doubt it. neutral Movie producers tend to avoid songs and stuff.

The animation is superb and I'm sure one of the facets that is going to draw in viewers. But the storyline will be mangled if they change too much. Like already it seems that Metal Beak is a completely different owl x.o

Yea.. they probably won't keep in Twilight's battle chants, which is a shame. He also doesn't look like anything like I imagined..

If it weren't for the fact that the upcoming movie would already be based on the first 3 novels, this would have been a truly bad thing when it comes to Metal Beak, right?

Blast it, Twilight's battle chants are epically awesome!!!! crying

It kinda still is because you find out who Metal Beak really is in the third book as well. So yea.. really curious to see what they did there.

I thought the character designs were pretty good, actually neutral
Twilight does look a bit too fluffy though.

I want to say it, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone. The character designs are great, I'm not knocking them. It's just.. Metal Beak looks nothing like any sort of Barn Owl.. and it was very distinguishable in the books.

Yea..he looks.. more cartoony than the rest of them. Like.. well, the fat kid of the group. =x

Agreed, Twilight does look older than needed during the first 6 novels. neutral

Okies.. here we go..owls that supposedly are not in the movie, or they are, and just don't have speaking or significant roles. =x (again.. makes me wonder how much they changed and left out as two of them are sorta important at the end of book 3 )

This isn't good.
How are they going to introduce Ezelryb, then?
What about the Snakes, are they still there?
But Strix is important to help display the horrors of war!!! crying

They'll still be able to introduce Ezylryb, but since they're not following the books exactly, we won't get to see how important he is, nor do I think we'll get to see how smart the Pure Ones are with the flecks. Mrs. P is in it, but Octavia isn't. I have to agree with Strix though, because Otulissa always going on about her is important to Otulissa's character, I guess since the Battle for the Great Tree isn't until books 4 and 5 she wouldn't be that important to add in.

So with all that being side, I think it's safe to say the movie is based loosely off the first three books with a completely different story and setting going on. I mean, Skench and Spoorn were crucial to Soren and Gylfie wanting to fly out faster, along with Hortense and 47-2, who also are not in the movie. I didn't see a listing for Grimble either.

We probably won't get to see Ezelryb as the war veteran that he was, during the first 6 novels.
That's not good, either.

How could the story be so different from the original 6 novels?
