Still more Dark Tournament style FTW!
Basic coliseum setup, a round arena raised off the ground and made from solid Adamantium, which spans a good hundred meters in diameter. The surface of the smooth metal has been slickened by a thin coating of ice, caused by the frigid temperatures that have set in, along with the flurries of constantly falling snow. Surrounding said indestructible platform is open ground, starting with simple grass and expanding to the surrounding trees until reaching, at near a half mile distance, upward climbing sheer cliffs.
Rules are as follows;
First off, the rules that are already posted in the main sub forum. Any character who touches the ground outside of the ring for more then a ten second count, or equivalent three posts (real loose on the ten count ain't it?), will be disqualified from the match. This is literal Dark Tournament style fighting. So, be aware of where you're at, judges have the right to say your character was out of bounds for to long. Have fun, don’t godmod, no complaining and leave me the heck alone until your match is finished.

((Woo YAY! First! and I'll actually get to RP this time I'm quite sure!))
Gaius appeared at the bottom of the high cliff face, having exited from a well camofluaged door, and began slowing stepping towards the frosty adamantium disk nearly half a mile distant. Snow eddied about in the air, performing it's own sick little celebration to what would likely soon be a veritable bloodbath. The temperature didn't nearly bother him, he didn't so much as shiver, this might as well be Hawaii compared to the kind of thing Brutus brought about.
He was about halfway to his destination when the wind picked up blowing a wall of snow into his face. He walked through it and hunched his shoulders to prevent snow from getting inside his collar. A few minutes later he reached the edge of the platform. A quick glance around didn't reveal his opponent so he drew in all his ambient reiatsu and hunched his shoulders as he squatted down, leaning back against the cold metal as he waited for the shinigami he had been brought to fight.
He inhaled deeply and slowed down his breathing, relaxing his muscles. As the frigid air touched the tissue of his lungs he thought, Well, one thing to say about this, at least this time the enviroment is on my side. With that he closed his eyes, letting his reiatsu sense alert him if his adversary appeared.
Another gust of wind kicked up, making him appear as little more than a silhouette for a few moments.

Snow. Great. Just ******** great. Kiisho hated the cold, let alone snow. It reminded him of days long past in frost covered mountains with what could have been described as his past family, people he loved in the very least. It reminded him of the chaos that ensued during that time. Of his death. Of their deaths. In response to the flood of freshly brought up memories, his reiatsu flared up, revealing his position above the icy ring of adamantium below him. Kiisho sat in mid-air, nearly four thousand feet above the arena, his kosode and haori hugged tight about him in meditative fashion, rather than out of chill. His reiatsu was naturally charged with lightning, which when in nature, was five times hotter than the surface temperature of the sun. Even the much, much cooler lightning of his reiatsu was more than enough to bite back against the chilling pallor of the frosted air, and keep his skin a nice tone of flushed red. Especially now that he was angry. He really hated snow. Slowly, he rolled backwards on an axis with his knees, ending with him essentially sitting upside down in the air, with his face turned downwards towards the enemy. He had never faced a Bount before in combat, but he had heard little about them that would cause him worry. Anyone who played with Dolls was not someone that Kiisho feared, let alone someone he would be hesitant about fighting. His eyes closed slowly, cutting off the rest of the world from his vision, and allowing him a brief moment of focus and calm. What would be coming would not be calm. Abruptly, he extended his legs with a burst of reiatsu and strength, not all that different from how a frog jumps when frightened. The end result sent him rocketing towards the ring below like a thunderbolt, wind and ice whipping past him in a blur, many of the flakes turning to steam or water as the passed through the field of his aggravated reiatsu. As he approached the ring, he performed a forward flip in the air, placing his feet below him, and allowing him to slow his speed enough so that when he did reach the ring, a quick roll was enough to bring him to a stand still, with on knee on the ground, and one foot, with his right knee raised to touch his right shoulder. He took several deep breaths to steady himself, the ice around him turning to slush, then water, then steam as he waited. He could feel his opponent, who was squatted a mere five meters away from his current location, but did not care. Bount may be capable of rapid speed, but they did not have shunpo, or anything similar. That meant that in an emergency, he could move out of the way in time, especially considering the distance between them. After a few moments, Kiisho took a deep breath and stood to his full height, arching his back a bit and stretching with a loud yawn, his eyes remaining vigilant and focused on his opponent during the entire motion. He said nothing as he finished, and merely took a single step forwards, motioning with his hand for his enemy to begin the festivities. [intro]

Gaius had almost fallen asleep when he ascertained the presence of the shinigami. That he was several thousand feet in the air was irrelevant. He calmly waited, still half asleep, for the man to decide to come down, and come down he did. Moments later a short shuffling sound told Gaius the man had finally landed. He took a deep breath and opened his eyes.
Gaius shortly stood up to his full height and reached his hands up, standing on his toes as he stretched. His back, neck, shoulders, and vast majority of other joints cracked and popped in quick succession to one another. He yawned and placed his left hand back onto the platform. With a short jump he was standing on the frosty metal gazing at the shinigami.
His eyebrow raised slightly at the steaming circle around him, immediately causing him to assume a firey reiatsu. A moments more inspection revealed it to be electric instead. He inclined his head slightly keeping his eyes on the man at all times, "My name is Gaius Septimus. I am a Raven and Bount and fought for the Roman Empire in it's glory days."
His polite introduction finished he calmly began walking towards the shinigami, his extremely dense and well defined muscles slowly tensing and bulging in anticipation of combat. He was taking his time, studying his opponent, and readying himself for anything that may be shot his way.
Once withing striking distance his right leg whipped out as his body twisted and his arms came up in a loose boxing stance. He was aiming for the side of the shinigami's left knee. No tricks, no deception, but with all the muscle Gaius had behind that strike, if it hit in the slightest it could deal considerable damage. If for some inconceivable reason it hit without being blocked or dodged in the slightest it could very well turn his kneecap to dust. Right as the kick would be about to connect he spoke again, "Everyone thinks it, so try not to, I am warning you, A Doll is nothing to be trifled with."

Roman Empire? Kiisho was not aware of the existence of any such thing. Even if it did exist, he had been born long before such an empire existed, and died soon after, so for him, it was as if the bount was boasting about having walked on the moon. Meaningless fairytales as far as he was concerned. Regardless, the man's physique would prove a daunting opponent if he had to fight him with brute strength alone. Fortunately for Kiisho.. such a thing was not likely to happen. He waited patiently as his opponent stretched, and calmly as he jumped across the short distance to where Kiisho stood, and snapped out with a vicious kick towards his left knee. A pointless endeavor. When a one tries to put all of their strength behind a physical attack, there is a slight pause before the blow is launched, and a slight pause is all that Kiisho would need. "Seki." The word was spoken sharply, with meaning, and little emotion. Sounding like a hammerfall striking the head of an upturned nail against the otherwise windy background. The air around his knee distorted, exploding outwards in a flurry of pressure that would no doubt throw his opponent off balance, if not knock him back entirely. Ignoring the comment about the Doll, Kiisho moved quickly, vanishing from his previous location and appearing directly to Gaius' left, a hand outstretched and pointing at the man's face. His hair rushing in the frigid wind behind him. "Hadou number thirty one, Shakkahou." Immediately, a head-sized ball of red flames exploded from his palm, roaring to life and consuming the man's current position in a searing blast of heat and flames. Unless he had some serious speed at his disposal, he would find himself a nice medium rare, with a crispy border.[1]

Gaius had fought shinigami in the past, not many, but enough to have an idea of what they were capable of. Gaius heard him cast the Kido, but it had been so long since he had fought a shinigami, he didn't put two and two together until it was almost to late. Seki... he thought, running through the possibilites of what it could mean, thinking it a reply to his statement. An instant after the word was spoken, and an instant before his kick landed, a small orb of energy bloomed by the mans knee and exploded with a repelling force.
He wasn't able to completely save himself from the Kido, but that instant's warning saved him from being thrown backwards. He stopped the kick and began reversing the direction while twisting about, skipping backwards from his previous position, surprisingly light on his feet considering his bulk. The maneuver carried him a few feet back, and would have been much harder, if not impossible, to pull off without the assistance of the blast from the shinigami's Kido.
His eyes quickly scanned about once he was more steady. Gaius locked his gaze on the man right as he was speaking, "...Thirty one, Skakkahou." A red orb grew in his hand and launched towards Gaius. That was one thing he did remember, if the full incantation wasn't performed the spell wasn't at maximum power. He grinned and ran toward the blast of heat bringing back his fist for a blow, making as if to endure through the pain and heat and strike after emerging from the other side.
Right as the heat began to blister and burn his skin Gaius gathered a plane of reishi beneath his feet and Blitzed to the side, out of the way of the fiery heat, appearing as little more than a flicker, then back in front of Kiisho, his fist crashing towards the man's chest as he appeared. His skin was pink and his arms and face were burned clear of hair, but other than that and a few minor stinging burns from passing a bit to close to the Kido, he was fine
He wasn't expecting the attack to connect very well, and was guaging Kiisho's reactions. With how erratically he had behaved, making as if to brave through the Kido, dodging it with something akin to shunpo, and then not attacking from behind as seemed customary among shinigami, his final approach should be very difficult to predict.((2))
((I feel like an idiot, I spent ten minutes thinking you had just mistyped and put Seki instead of Sho...lol))

((I apologize for the delay. I am not at home, and thus cannot control my use of a computer for any length of time.)) Arrogance. It was the first word that came to mind when the bount had spoken, and it was now the word that played on Kiisho's lips as he watched the brute move. No sane person would charge an inferno and hope the remain unscathed. The fact that Gaius had done this meant that he did not fear death or pain, which would prove to be an interesting study of reactions, to say the least. Regardless of the scientific value of the encounter, Kiisho found himself rather annoyed. For one to attempt to fight hand-to-hand with a master of kidou was as pointless as trying to rock-climb up the face of an active volcano. You would only end up getting burned to dust. That being said, he was impressed with the bount's speed. Not many of them could match shunpo, and while this particular specimen's speed was just slightly below the speed of shunpo, he was still much faster than one would expect. Even more so when one considered his general bulk. But speed would not save him now, oh no. He had come far too close for that. "..far too close." Kiisho's mouth echoed his thoughts a split second before the man's fist connected with his chest, a powerful blow to be sure, but not quite fast enough. A smile split across Kiisho's face as he momentarily vanished from sight, appearing less than half a second later immediately behind Gaius, with two of his fingers a mere fraction of an inch from the small of his back. "Bakudou number sixty-one, Rikujoukourou." Nearly instantly, the kidou slammed forwards, providing a brilliant flash of yellow light in six perfect yellow bars. Without waiting to see if the bakudou had made contact, Kiisho flashed backwards, placing a hand in front of him as he did. "Carriage of thunder, bridge of a spinning wheel, with light, divide this into six!" the incantation following the kidou would no doubt strengthen it to full power, thus making it doubly dangerous. But he was not finished just yet. Hoping that his opponent had not pulled some semblance of impossible speed out from his rear end in the last possible second, Kiisho ground to a halt and twisted his hand forwards, once again pointing two fingers in the direction of his opponent, his left hand following suit and meeting his right at the wrist. "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! On the wall of blue flame, inscribe a twin lotus. In the abyss of conflagration, wait at the far heavens! Hadou number seventy three, Souren Soukatsui!" With a roar like the sound of an erupting volcano, or the firing of a rocket booster, everything in front of Kiisho became engulfed in an inferno of searing blue heat. Heat with such intensity that all snow and ice in the area, for one hundred yards in every direction, turned to steam with a violent hiss, further melting the snow outside of the area of the kidou's direct influence. Even if Gaius had somehow made it out of the bakudou, he was likely a crispy little meat-snack now.[2]

Kiisho was faster than him to be sure, but speed wasn't nearly everything that mattered in a battle as he was sure the shinigami knew. He felt his fist connect with the man's chest the moment before he once again flash stepped out of sight. He knew there hadn't been enough contact made to do serious damage, but even that small moment had surely transferred enought force to badly bruise the man's chest. Bakudou? Damnit! All this man's dodging about and blasting strong energy every other second was getting annoying... The pillars of energy crashed into him, immobilizing him almost completely. He couldn't move his legs, and so couldn't change his position, but his torso was quite free of restriction. He drew the gladius from between his shoulder blades. The blade flashed out seeming to leap from the scabbard of it's own accord. The silvery arc the blade made in the air was aimed to slice Kiisho's hand slightly in the process, the chance was quite slim as he couldn't see his actual postion, but it was worth a try.
Then, right as the shinigami was finishing the incantation to strengthen the Kido his other hand flashed up, briefly touching the pommel of the short heavy blade, and then back down a ready position by his side. A cool beautiful blue jewel arced high into the air above the center of the arena. "Zeige Dich." His last motion before being completely stilled was to bring the pommel of the blade crashing onto ont of the golden pillars cracking it, slightly weakening the strength of the Kido. With the Bakudou strengthened he couldn't speak and could barely force his lungs to expand to breath or his eyelids to raise and fall to blink. He heard the man speaking another incantion from farther away and recognized it as a highly destructive spell. He knew he couldn't dodge, he knew he wouldn't be able to escape the worst of the blast, but who said he had to? He began softly glowing as the nearby reishi in the air responded to his call and began gathering into glowing pieces. Ready to respond to his call when he needed it.
Meanwhile as the shinigami incanted the blast of blue fire Brutus was awakening. The blue sapphire over head sent out a strong pulse of reiatsu, cooling the entire area by several degrees instantly, a palpable change to both combatants. This elicited a small smile from Gaius. The jewel soon began letting off a freezing mist, followed by several more pulses of cold reiatsu as it cracked, small plantlike tendrils making their way out, waving about as if confused to not find solid earth surrounding them. Within moments, right about as it reached apogee, it exploded into motion and growth, icy vines and roots spiraling out into the air seeking something to anchor onto. The cold writhing mass fell towards the metal plate below. It was about the size of a basketball when it hit the ground, and instead of bouncing, like it seemed it should, it simple flattened, growing even more quickly. It's cold reiatsu sent out pulses almost constantly now, lowering the temperature a few degrees each time. Small rootlets covered in small thorns and icy armor soon found the edge of the platform and gripped it, burrowing into the earth at it's base moments later. Several of the roots twined their way around the base of Kiisho's feet searching for the earth, luckily they weren't violent at this time, focused instead on explosive growth. This continued right up to when Kiisho released the spell sending more heated destruction towards Gaius. The snow and frost evaporated from the radiant heat, but almost instantly refroze back into snow from a very strong pulse of freezing energy from the plant which now blanketed much of the adamantium disk. Then a ripple of motion passed through all the vines and roots, moving from the outside in, and a large pillar of frozen plant matter, covered by extremely hard and thick icy armor rose behind Kiisho. Brutus quicklly grew to about 20 feet tall. The temperature in the area was now well below zero, somwhere around -30 to -40 degrees. An icy mask condensed from the icy air, a winking eye, and a smile quickly formed on the surface of the thick plate of frozen water. The sapphire that had housed Brutus formed the other(open) eye, it constantly gaving of a freezing cold mist and small tendrills could still be seen emerging from the jewel. The area was now covered a very thick layer of frost and ice. Brutus roared his joy at being out in the world, lacking a mouth it issued forth as a horrendously loud and horrible grinding sound.
((profile does say negative 20, but that is for normal situations, normal battles, as it is already at least at freezing temperatures it made sense to lower it even more, I generally think of it in around 70-80 degrees, so an extra drop of 10 degrees doesn't seem too bad. ))
The blast of fire hit Gaius, it burned like Hell, no far worse then hell, this just plain HURT. He could feel his skin cracking and burning, the oils in it boiling, he was being roasted alive. At the same time, right after a patch of skin was blackened and burnt, the cooling salve of healing reishi rushed to it to heal him whole once again. He couldn't move through the whole ordeal, but the Bakudou holding him was being weakened greatly by the destructive fires as well. He felt like he was going inside, intense heat would incinerate him, then he would feel cool and refreshed as the skin was healed, and then it would begin again. It felt like the inferno blazed for hours, but it was most likely just a few bare seconds. When he could be seen again his clothing was almost completely gone and he was hairless, his skin pink and a few burns still quickly healing. Once the burns were healed his hair quickly came back and his clothing regenerated as well. "Erneuern Sie." Gaius whispered as his skin took on it's original dusky tone. He knew he presented an impressive sight emerging from that attack relatively unscathed, but it had cost him a good deal of energy, he couldn't perform a large number of fast large scale healings like that, but he also suspected Kiisho couldn't fire off that Kido, or others of it's strength, very often either. "This is Brutus, my Doll."
Brutus roared once more, this time more quietly. Dozens of small rootlets that coated the frosty metal surface, providing traction on it's normally slick surface, twined towards Kiisho's feet. They were to small to carry thorns like the rest of Brutus, but they could still quite easily freeze his feet off if allowed to contact him for too long.

((As a quick side-note.. the fist never made contact.)) A plant? That was this brute's doll? And its name was Brutus? Kiisho allowed himself a light chuckle before flashing upwards, halting a few meters off of the ground so that he was not in contact with the now-more-than-ever frigid metal disc that made up the ring. Cold was an interesting ability for a plant, unique even, but it was hardly threatening indirectly, at least not to him. For normal people, this situation could be seen as one that was truly devastating. By his estimates, the air had reached a temperature of nearly thirty below zero, frigid to say the least. That would not bode well, except that his naturally heated reiatsu managed to keep the air directly around his skin at around thirty-four degrees, barely above freezing.. but in this air, it felt like seventy. The thing that would truly pose an issue in the coming fight was how easily this bount had managed to heal during the kidou. No bount he had ever seen had that kind of power as far as regeneration was concerned, especially not when one considered the rate of temperature difference, and the steam being released at twice the heat that would have preceded the blast. Regardless, he was certain that the man would not be capable of that feat en masse, especially not if he continued to cause devastating bodily damage. All people had a limit, even him, which was yet another thing that would need to be considered. His opponent, however, was about to run out of luck. The time limit restricting him from releasing was now lifted, and he was free to use the full wrath of his zanpakutou. "You know something, Gaius?" His voice was lilting on the frigid air, nearly amused to a certain extent, "That's not that girly of a doll. I was expecting something with a bit more frills, perhaps some sort of accessory to go with it as well? I mean, what's the point of playing dolls if you can't dress them up? I do suppose it's a bit ugly though.. might present an issue." He frowned, the chuckled again, waving his right hand as if to dismiss the matter. "Regardless, I think it's about time for a change in the weather, don't you? I do so hate the snow, especially this time of year.. it's just not natural.." He shook his head, making a face that resembled a child denying a fact. "Such disgusting weather.." He let out a long sigh, staring up at the grey clouds above him. "Oh well.. what's a guy to do?" His right hand moved to his hip, grasping the purple-shaded hilt of his zanpakutou and withdrawing it from its lacquered confines with practiced ease, soundless and smooth as a shark fin slicing through a calm ocean. Kiisho's hand held the razor-sharp blade at a perfect horizontal angle lined up with his sternum, the kisaki pointing towards his left. A light blue lacing of electric reiatsu floated across the surface of the blade, then around his feet, roaring into the sky a second later with a loud crash, blowing back the snow and ice around him like dust in the wind. The entire weapon turned a brilliant shade of icy blue, contrasting with the now-melting snow flakes that fell about his form, the initial moment of spiking reiatsu faded. His lips parted in a smile, and words flowed out with a stroke of pressure like a nearby thunderclap. "Raimei kotogotoku waga migete to nare!" His right hand accepted the blue glow from the sword, merging seamlessly with the radiant light. "Inaduma kotogotoku waga hidarite to nare!" His left hand followed suit, connecting with the untouched blade by a tendril of glowing energy, removing distinction between blade and hand, and presenting a brilliantly glowing force before Kiisho, nearly obscuring him from view. "Raikotsu!" As the name of his zanpakutou left his lips, he separated his hands with a violent tug, moving both to his exact left and high, lining his shoulders and arms along a straight line with his back, and completely shattering the sealed state of his sword. As the burst of light cleared, Kiisho was revealed with twin clawed hands, both of his forearms covered in shining blue and silver bracers, merging with armored fingers via five identical silver chains. Lightning flashed between each of his fingertips and his hair flowed about as if being tossed by a hurricane, static electricity clinging to every fiber. His hands lowered to waist level, and he arched his back, stretching a little and letting out a mild yawn. "Forgive the mild dramatics, Gaius. It comes with the territory I'm afraid." He winked slyly, raising his right hand to eye level, and flexing his hand lightly, causing a mild increase in the energy surrounding it. "But I digress.. Let's do something about this nasty weather, eh?" His right hand shot skywards, pointing his middle and index finger at the clouds, and releasing a large blast of lightning into the air with a crashing sound that resembled a building breaking in half. Kiisho closed his eyes, and his hand into a fist, allowing his senses to expand into the atmosphere, which was now laced with lightning that remained completely under his control. Grey clouds rolled outwards, changing in shade to the deepest black imaginable. The air warmed slightly, still restricted by the powers of Gaius' doll, but not as cold anymore, as if the weather from before hand been completely nullified, and replaced with a tropical storm. To augment this appearance, an arc of lightning raced across the sky, flashing a bright light across the battlefield and casting slightly eerie shadows across Kiisho's face. The scene now set, Kiisho lowered his hand, his face still split with a large smile. "Forgive my amusement as well, normally I would not be amused as much as I am, but the entire situation is just too laughable to ignore. However, since you seem to be relatively capable of handling yourself in battle, let us see what sort of tune we can make you dance to, yes?" His smile vanished, replaced by a deadly twinkle in his eye that seems to cause the air around him to boil. Abruptly, he spun in the air, twisting his body sideways so that his left hand thrust, palm-downwards, towards the arena below, releasing a searing arc of lightning that crashed into the metal surface with a resounding crack, clearing it of plant tendrils, and leaving it slightly glowing for a moment, releasing more steam as it cooled. He touched down a moment later, his face still stoic, but the mischievous twinkle ever-present. "I would explain my powers to you, but it seems that the best way to demonstrate their effectiveness is to show you. However, I must warn you.. they can be quite.. explosive." His grin returned, and his right hand shot outwards, palm facing Gaius. "Shakkahou." One word. Not even a number preceding the spell, and certainly without an incantation. Despite this, the lightning-laced ball of red fire that roared from Kiisho's palm a mere fraction of a second after speaking the word, was nearly twice the power of any normal hadou thirty-one. The ball itself was as wide as Kiisho himself, and roared with a heat that seemed to cause ti expand further, a true rolling ball of destruction. Not waiting to see if it made contact, Kiisho flashed upwards, and forwards, positioning himself in a location that should be directly above Gaius. "Tenran." A blast of viciously tearing winds roared downwards, intercepting the ball of fire and transforming everything beneath Kiisho into a searing tornado of flames, lasting several seconds before calming, even then with some remaining wisps of flame tracing through the air, and with the air itself having been raised temporarily to a toasty eight-five degrees. Kiisho finished his motion several meters away from Gaius' last known location, facing in the direction he expected him to be, with both of his silver hands smoking from the heated blasts that had just left them.[3]

((My bad, bad bruising statement officially retracted, I misread.))
Gaius held his gladius in a relaxed position as the man released his Shikai, it was only polite after all. It was impressive, it truly was, lightning, loud noises, a pleasant blue color. Oh, and gloves too? Well he certainly was the height of fashion. "Gauntlets? Really? They are horribly overdone lately aren't they? Far to many shinigami use them, it gets tiring it truly does." He decided to play along with the man, keep up a seemingly pleasant conversation while they attempted to maul eachother into unrecognizable versions of themselves. "Weather? No I actually quite enjoy it..." An expression of mock horror and dejection dominated his face as the lightning arced into the sky, "Oh, see, now that was just plain rude." He shook his head in dissapointment, "I enoy the cold, it suits me." His eyes widened imperceptibly as Kiisho shot a bolt of electricity to the metal disk, heating it up and searing it clear of ice and Brutus' small tendrils for a moment. Gaius, was of course safe from the violent energies. All the man's theatrics and the nature of his reiatsu had already given him an extremely large sight into his abilities and power, so when he spun around and gestured at the arena floor Gaius raised himself off the surface of the metal several inches with a platform of condensed reishi. He collapsed it a moment later, acting as if nothing occured. And it may as well not have.
Brutus had grounded himself to the earth below, quickly passing what little energy reached him down below safely, the destruction of the rootlets meant nothing to him, he didn't even feel their destruction. The temperature continued cooling, albeit at a slower pace, as the Doll's naturally cooling presence sucked what little heat remained in the area into itself. A bare moment later the platform was back to it's freezing self and the newly made steam and moisture in the air had refrozen, falling again. This time, just as Kiisho was settling back down onto the ground, thicker and larger roots, with some protective icy covering and studded with sharp thorns twined their way over the surface, coating it once again, these were more durable and would take considerably more energy to destroy than their threadlike companions before.
"I will admit, your Shikai is impressive, very theatrical, I must agree, but think of this, and answer if you feel driven too. Which of us has been expending energy at a higher rate?" That was the moment Kiisho chose to speak again and fire another destructive spell. The size and speed of the spell was greater, and the factor by which it improved slightly surprised him, but it wasn't enough, Gaius had guaged the man and found him skilled and talented, but noone had survived Gaius and Brutus' own personal war of attrition, it was the way they fought, they didn't seek to win and destroy quickly in one giant game-finishing move, they forced the enemy to whittle themselves down by wasting energy, keeping themselves warm, and wasting attack after attack on a target that refused to take a true hit, Gaius, or a target that could withstand nigh on anything, Brutus. He stood still, readying a Blitz to move out of the way should the need arise, but otherwise he appeared to be quite relaxed.
Just as the firey spell drew near enough for the heat to start becoming uncomfortable it was swatted aside by a large mass of icy vines originating from Brutus' main trunk, behind Kiisho. A large hiss gave out as much of the ice on those vines vaporized, exposing a soft and slightly vulnerable section of the cold appendage. It quickly drew back, retreating back into the Doll's main section to regenerate more quickly, the charred vines had been largely protected by their armor, but they still suffered some damage.
He glanced up at where Kiisho had reappeared above him and saluted jokingly, "I beleive I kindly warned you to not underestimate my Doll, he get's frightfully angry." As if on cue a lound grinding sound sounded out loud enough to cause a slight and inconsequential headache, while noticable, to all those who heard it. The horrible sound akin to glaciers breaking apart rapidly almost completely drowned out the sound of the tornado Kiisho conjured up. Still looking up Gaius closed his eyes, while keeping his reiatsu sense trained on Kiisho should he try anything, tensed himself slightly against the extremely powerful winds as they buffeted against him, without the flames and heat provided by the previous Kido it was hardly a danger. The strength of the wind did almost lift him from his feet but a slight modification to the reishi in the air around his body kept him firmly anchored anchored to the ground. He opened his eyes and sighed happily, partaking of some of Kiishos theatricalness. "Done?"
Without waiting for a reply Gaius quickly shot into a Blitz behind Kiisho and swung his gladius worth disabling speed and force to hamstring the shinigami. At the same time Brutus had his roots and vines growing and twining themselves at extremely high speeds towards the man in black. The thorny and icily armored roots sought to wrap themselves around his legs, and immobilize him, poisoning and freezing him with contact. The vines, much more mobile, though not carrying as much protective ice, twined through the air in the dozens, trying to wrap around his torso, shoulders, and arms. A moment before the slash from Gaius would connect, he'd Blitz, but not to another position to complete the slash, but instead forwards, setting his shoulder against the shinigami's back and shoving. The Bount's natural extreme strength and speed coupled with the short but blindingly fast movement of the Blitz should put him successfully off balance for a successful dodge or Shunpo.

Kiisho really hated plants. More specifically, he hated vines, and thorns, and he was beginning to hate this man who controlled them. But no matter, hate would have its place in the battle, as would the plants, but currently the brute had made a serious lapse in judgment. "Energy?" He sneered, his voice full of mockery. "You dare to speak to me of energy?" Cruel laughter tore from his mouth, nearly doubling him over. "You know nothing about what you speak of. Do not be so arrogant as to assume that you are aware of my energy potential, or the cost a simple spell like the ones I have thrown at you takes from me. I assure you, I have spent far less energy attack you than you have healing yourself from a single blast of my kidou." He spun abruptly, smashing the back of his bracer against the now-oncoming gladius blade that was attempting to cut him. Many assumed that his weapon was only a ranged attacker, but they were mistaken. The armor was not just for show. No sooner had the block occurred, it separated, blown apart by an explosion of violent pressure released from a single lightning bolt that had been compressed to coat that portion of Kiisho's arm. The resulting impact flung Kiisho, and likely Gaius, wide, sending him flying a full ten meters, at which point he was able to perform a rudimentary flip, and right himself, skidding to a halt on all fours, then standing, brushing imaginary dust off of his legs. "Such foolish antics. And still you think to win? Face the facts, fool. Your cold cannot touch me, your blade cannot reach me, and after all I have revealed to you, you still have not grasped the gravity of the situation before you. You speak of anger like it is merely an emotion, a glancing kiss from the mind that causes the body to lose control. You warn me of this, from your doll no less, when you fail to accept a simple, unavoidable fact." Kiisho flashed backwards again, positioning himself a mere meter from the edge of the disk. "You are going to die here, bount." He raised his right hand, pointing it towards the center of the ring. "Tremble, and weep in the face of your own inadequacy." A circle of burning blue energy appeared around his feet, glowing brightly then roaring into the sky, fully covering his body and arms with his violent reiatsu. A second circle appeared around his right hand, culminating in a single ball of brilliant energy at the tip of his fingers. "Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six! Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle!" As the string of incantations continued, his energy grew in mass, shaking the disc around his feet and raising the temperature of the air around him by a full fifty degrees, causing steam to rise from his flesh. Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! On the wall of blue flame, inscribe a twin lotus. In the abyss of conflagration, wait at the far heavens!" The heat grew in both temperature and virulence, spreading outwards from him in visible tendrils, snaking towards the sky and roaring with such violent force that they seemed to take the shape of sneering cat heads. "I will show you the meaning of your foolishness, and the true hopelessness you now face. Your confidence is admirable, but your arrogance has angered Raikotsu. I can no longer prevent him from running wild." His voice was a mere whisper now, curling around him and floating across the distance between himself and his opponent by mere force of reiatsu alone. His left hand stretched behind him, followed by three words in rapid succession. "Danku. Danku. Danku." Three nearly invisible barriers slammed into place behind him, providing a small barrier that would hopefully slow his progression backwards after what he was about to do. In the very least, it would provide him with some semblance of protection from the ensuing explosion. The energy at the tip of his hand lashed out, slashing a line of blood across his shoulder, and reminding him that he needed to release the force. "Goodbye, Gaius. Denki-taihou, Bakudou number seventy-three, Tozanshou." Instantly, four lines of bright blue energy formed around the edges of the disc, leaving a bare centimeter between Kiisho's face and the now-fully formed blue pyramid before him, which covered all of the remaining disc, including everything on it. The tip of the pyramid was not visible, as it had been formed beneath the disc itself. As soon as the barrier had formed, six bars, each the size of a train, slammed into the sides of it, further bracing the structure from being breached. No sooner had the bars appeared, the pyramid exploded with light, spider-web cracks forming across the surface before erupting into full on sections falling away. The bars shattered completely, caught up in a maelstrom of heat and light that threatened to envelop everything around it. The disc itself shone a bright brilliant red, with tinges of white around the edges. The metal may have been indestructible, but not heat proof. It was currently hot enough to turn an egg to ash in half a second. The explosion itself threw Kiisho into the previously formed barriers with enough force to shatter two of them, and leave several large cracks in the third. Smoke rose from nearly all portions of his body, and the top portion of his outfit had been completely blown away, but it would not be nearly as bad as what would have happened to anyone who had been within the pyramid when it destroyed itself.[4]

Gaius righted himself in the air as he flew back from the force expelled from Kiisho's Shikai. A swift thickening of the reishi behind and below him slowed him down quickly and hovered him calmly a few feet over the surface of the disc.
A slightly annoyed look flashed over Gaius' face, "Me? You...are calling me arrogant? Sir, I admit I don't know as much about energy as you, but do not think! to assume you know how much it took me to heal myself, and you have absolutely no understanding of cold if it thinks it does not effect you. Even now, more of your reiatsu and energy is spent keeping you warm, add that to all the excessive jumping and running about, top it off with the constant blasting of high-level Kido, and you sir, no matter the benefits you Shikai provide you, will weaken, slow, and succumb to the slow painless end we provide." Shadows were cast strangely throughout the area as Kiisho brightly lit a circle of energy around him.
Gaius stood calmly simply looking at the silhouette of the shinigami in the bright light, "Even now, you waste energy with these bright and pointless displays, no matter the amount you have, the thoughtless waste you are and have been exhibiting will be why you lose this match today, your own arrogance in thinking you can squander that which keeps you alive." Gaius watched as he continued his incantations, he was slightly confused at first, but after a moment he realized he was utilizing to Kido at once, both powerful blasts of reiatsu, both extremely destructive, and both predictable. He subtly gathered reishi to put to his own use when the moment struck, and it most literally would.
Brutus had meanwhile received a mental cue as to what was about to transpire from Gaius. He knew that such a blast would damage him greatly, so he did the one thing he could, the one thing he had never been able to do...He moved. Normally Brutus was quite stationary, rooted deeply into the earth. However now, the Doll only stayed steady and in place because it's roots gripped the metal plate, he was holding on, not firmly attached to a piece of the earth. With great effort he began slowly shifting himself. From the time Kiisho became little more then a shadow in the glowing ring about him, to when the inverted pyramid formed he was slowly dragging himself to the edge of the platform.
"Danku. Danku. Danku." Gaius heard as he saw, and felt three of the immensely powerful barriers snap into place, he shook his head in dissapointment, "Still more is lost that can't be regained." He continued standing gathering still more reishi to himself, he hadn't given it something to do, and so instead in such a concentrated form it elicited a very slight glow Kiisho would be unable to see among the glowing radiance he had brought about. Goodbye? Ok. He thought. "Well, I truly hope this works out for you." Gaius spoke even though he knew at that distance, and with all the noise from Kiisho and Brutus dragging himself he wouldn't be heard in the slightest. Gaius arubtly formed the large amount of reishi he had condensed into a Blitzing platform beneath his feet and dissapeared from Kiisho's sight. At that very moment Brutus fell to the earth from the adamantium platform like a tree felled by a lumber jack. The earth shook at the impact during the time it took Kiisho to announce the pyramid Kido and his "light Cannon". Quickly the entire mass set to squirming about, an utterly sickening sight as every last tendril burried into the earth around the platform. All that remained above ground was the perpetually smiling mask as it's one eye stared at Kiisho.
Light Cannon? Must be from his Shikai. Gaius had rightfully judged that with the mass amounts of reiatsu being expelled from his body, followed by the incantions, whatever Kiisho brought about would be horribly destructive, easily capable of injuring him almost beyond repair. So he had moved far far away, from his previous position. Bringing his reiatsu so low to the point where unassisted sensing would have absolutely no chance of divining where he was, and even Summoning the Tracking Sparrows would fail to provide an exact location. He had taken the position he found most safe in the area at the time. And so Gaius watched from behind Kiisho, gazing through the three Splitting Voids the shinigami had erected, as a glowling pyramid enclosed almost the entire giant metallic target he was aiming for. He winced slightly in sympathy as he saw a section of Brutus cut off and removed by the forming Bakudo, soon to be incinerated and utterly destroyed. He watched as it exploded with violent energies, the Bakudo containing the blast collapsing almost immediately. He saw the glowing platform, and felt it's heat even from the distance he was. Though even now, Brutus' influence beneath the ground was quickly cooling it, absorbing all of that wasted energy into his freezing heat-sink of a body. He watched as Kiisho crashed through the first two Danku's and heavily damaged the third, of which Gaius was standing on the air but a foot and a half away from. Still, completely and utterly undectable by Kiisho in the current situation.
A large section of roots rose from the ground, supporting the mask, and assumed a roughly human shape. One 'hand' rested on it's 'stomach' and the other pointed at the battered Kiisho. The whole badly made shape bounced up and down as the earth shook grinding loudly in a way slightly reminiscent of mocking laughter.
Gaius thrust with all his might into the biggest crack Kiisho had made in the Danku. The gladius passed through with difficulty, shattering the Splitting Void into pieces, "I warned you." Under any other circumstances Gaius wouldn't be able to break it with such relative ease, but with all the damage it had already sustained from Kiisho's own collision with it, it was possible. The blade passed through and skewered the area Kiisho occupied. If he somehow didn't dodge the attack, or block it in someway, despite the fact it would be nigh on impossible for the shinigami to know he was there, that he was in his blind spot, and Kiisho had just suffered a good amount of damage to himself, the strike should at the least moderately injure the spell chucking soul reaper.

(( biggrin I'm sorry man, I don't mean to be mean, taking a vertible strike from god away from you like that, I had to though. The incantations, everything, all the signs were there saying, "Get him out of there NOW" and I was reading to be sure I understood what the Light Cannon was, got caught up, read the section on how Kido is strengthened, and then read how you advised dodging, so well, I dodged.))

Light, that was what Kiisho's world was. Surprisingly, there was very little pain, the manner in which he fired off the 'cannon' seemed to have taken most of the impact and thrown it into the pyramid crystal. Of course, the enemy had not been devoured by the blast, but Kiisho knew that. He had known that when he prepared the spell. This was the reason why he spent so much time talking, and so much time with the incantations. Those who did not understand kidou would not see the significance of this, but for those who did, they would know that when one uses the incantation, it actually takes less strain from the body than if you attempted to fire it without the incantation. This was because when one merely says the name, you must also form the blueprint, but the incantation simply tells your reiatsu what to do, and skips the blueprint step, thus also removing a large section of the reiatsu required to form and fire it. Add to that the electrical storm above him, and the large amount of lightning it was supplying him with, and his current little flash show had merely placed a slight drain on him. Tiring? Oh yes. But debilitating? Not in the slightest. Not only that, but he had watched the plant-doll crawl from the arena. Chanting did not remove eye-sight after all. A thin smile pursed across Kiisho's face, knowing that his opponent would also see this as his 'overconfidence', and miss that it was hinting at some hidden plan. Soldiers may be able to think on their feet, but they were not called 'legion' for nothing. Even without having knowledge of this 'Roman Empire', he knew this. The man's movements were predictable, and more than that, his attacks were lackluster and anticlimactic. Predictable. And now, it seemed that the bount thought that his speed made him invisible. A fatal mistake. No one was truly invisible, not to Kiisho. He could feel the man move behind him, feel his confidence and poise in movement. The stink of his flesh and the feel of his energy about his body as he moved. But Gaius seemed to not get the message. Moving close to Kiisho while he was still able to move was a mistake that one could not afford to make in a battle of this magnitude. Not only that, but a tiger is at its most dangerous when it is wounded. Pressure. A pulsation around the size of a sword-tip on one of the cracks at his back. The time had come. Kiisho's face split into a full grin, and his left finger twitched outwards, his mouth moving in near-silent formation of the words that could possibly end this battle. "Bakudou number nine. Geki." Everything behind him turned red. A brilliant glowing red that seized anything with the ability to move in its tracks. No mercy. No delay. A full two and a half inches of Gaius' sword had pierced the spell-wall by the time Kiisho had completed the spell, but he had done something else to prevent himself from being skewered. Moved. The movement was subtle, a quick, nearly invisible flash to the left, moving his back over around four inches, just enough so that the blade would emerge where he had been, but not where he currently was. No sooner had the tip broken through, his right hand shot downwards. Metal met steel as the gloved hand grasped the short blade, electrical arcs immediately entering the weapon, and causing a tingling sensation between Kiisho's fingers. He did not often touch metal for this very reason, he was not fond of tingly feelings. The red light behind him, fused with his grasp on the blade of his opponent, completed the plan. "Now you will see." His voice was steady, resolute, lacking any emotion and containing only the seriousness of his words. "My energy is simply greater than yours. Denki-taihou. Hadou number eleven, Tsuzuri Raiden." The remaining strands of the Danku barrier shattered, falling like vanishing glass before the rushing force of the blast. It was not a blast like those before it, oh no. It was pressure. Pressure that both preceded and followed a condensed blast of kidou and lightning, all of which was directed into the weapon that was held tightly in Kiisho's right hand, and anyone attached to it. Even if his opponent had somehow managed to break the Geki, and let go of the weapon before the blast occurred, the energy would leave the pommel of the weapon, releasing a beam of power similar to a normal blast fired in an outwards fashion. Should his opponent be unable to let go of the weapon, he would surely be destroyed.[5 - and I checked, the grab is legal given the circumstances. ^_^]

Something was terribly wrong, the man shouldn't have been able to sense him...his reiatsu signature was closed down, he had flashed out of his sight and should have been covered by the glare of the bright energies Kiisho had brought about. What had gone wrong? Gaius saw it in the slight tenseness of the shinigami's shoulders, a slight rippling of cloth as muscles and tendons shifted slgihtly allowing a small movement. Then he saw his jaw working and knew another Kido was on it's way. Gaius knew he was predictable, he knew and acknoledged this, he didn't in the least consider himself a great strategic mind, but his skills at observation and high reaction speed kept him alive when he failed to plan his way through a hazardous situation. He jerked back his feet Blitzing him backwards mediocrely out of instinct in reaction to the shinigami's movement. His blade followed for an instant before it caught in the weakened Danku and stuck. Rather then let it slow him he released the blade and continued his backwards movement.
Brutus had another point of view, he could perfectly view Kiisho's front and saw exactly what he was doing, he saw the hand twitch and the words for a Kido form on his mouth. He barely saw the miniscule shunpo. It was his first instinct, the thing he was created for. Before the thought had even formed in his crystalline plantish mind, roots were speeding through the ground at breakneckroot speeds to intervene. He'd had enough time and had grown enormously, much like a glacier, the vast majority of his mass had remained and grown beneath the ground, now with only a small fraction of his body above he permeated almost every inch of the earth around the adamantium disk to almost the cliff-face. The sped the last few feet needed and massed beneath the two men under the ground.
The red light had flashed over the gladius and caught Gaius freezing him in place. He quickly focused and felt the chains of reiatsu binding him in place, effectively paralyzing him for the moment. He was already pulsing reiatsu out arubtly at irregular intervals to weaken the Kido, but it would take longer than he had to shatter it. His quick action normally saved him, and in this case it was only helping, almost immediately after he was engulfed the red restraining field began cracking and weakening, allowing brief and small muscle movements. Not fast enough! Damn! Gaius hoped and prayed Brutus would be in time to help. Suddenly without warning masses of stone and rock hard frozen dirt exploded into the air, obscuring his vision and pelting the red Kido surrounding him. They dinged and bounced off the very slight shield. Well it was one thing, it seemed to mitigate very...slight amounts of force.
Brutus was angry. Noone, and he meant NOONE, hurt his Commander. The mass of roots, each sporting razor sharp thorns nearly the size of a katana and icy armor far thicker and stronger than Brutus had ever made exploded from the ground causing the shower of earth that had pelted Gaius right as Kiisho layed his first finger on the Gladius jammed in the Danku. Each of the six roots had smaller roots and vines twining about it, giving it even more protection, smaller thorns covering almost every inch of it, and each capable of unwinding and attacking at a moments notice. They exploded from the earth as one mass, firing rock hard debris in every which direction, colliding with the Kido frozen Gaius, the still barely solid Splitting Void, and firing up at Kiisho from below as well. The temperature dropped sharply as a blast of cold unlike anything either of them had felt this entire battle preceeded the exiting appendages of Brutus.
The sudden blast of strong freezing reiatsu completed the breaking of the Bakudo restraining Gaius. He blinked in surprise at the chaos unleashed by his Doll. The blink over and done with reishi gathered underneath his heels, and fired him skyward, the Blitz carrying him well over fifty feet up.
All of the immense roots dove straight for Kiisho. One of the deadly, thorn-tipped roots shot directly for his back, another from below. Two attacked from the sides, the smaller rootlets untwisting and taking a wider approach, creating two hemispheres each with a large spike in the middle, seeking to mesh and collapse in on the man who threatened Gaius. One remained behind, tearing apart the earth as it quickly circled the meyhem, waiting to respond and counter whatever maneuver Kiisho made. The sixth and final root of destruction Brutus had fashioned darted through the air like a snake towards the sparking electified Gladius. It reached the blade just as the Tsuzuri Raiden was released from Kiisho's palm. The electricity spiraled around the reishi reinforced blade(stated in profile, the reason it can survive such destructive battles). The small roots untwined from the larger root and wrapped around the hilt of the blade, gripping it tightly, and immediately lowering it's temperature to the point that flesh would instantly freeze to it. As it was in contact with the source of the extreme cold, it became greatly colder than the surrounding air. The Hado flew down the blade and the blast of lightning traveled along the collection of roots. The extreme heat of the lightning attack fried and blackened the vast majority of the smaller roots, leaving a bare few wrapping around the blade holding it in place. The tip of the large root itself was blackened, a good portion of the icy armor shattered off the the arubt increase in heat, the edges of it sublimating into mist before almost instantly refreezing a second later in the frigid air, and burnt and blackened streaks showing the paths the lightning took. The few small root lets left yanked strongly on the frozen gladius, intending to flip it up into the air back to Gaius. As they unraveled from the larger root to complete that task the damaged, but still very dangerous, spiky monstrosity leapt through the air, diving down at Kiisho from a slightly upward angle.
Gaius watched completely stunned, his feet sinking slightly into the pillow of air that suspended him as he lost focus. He'd never seen Brutus display that much violence and force before, the cold had never been so great he had felt it...this time he had. He was cold! He shook his head and watched in amazement as Brutus unleashed an attack of pure physical terror, strength, and bitter cold. He had been a fool. Ever since had had created and formed Brutus using the formula passed to all Bount-kind he had used him as no more than support, winning battles largely on his own. The universe had been screaming at how wrong it was, Brutus sole reason for existence was keeping Gaius alive, now the Raven finally heard and understood. He would support the Doll, not the other way around. He smiled in anticipation, this battle would change course, now, he was fighting as he was meant to. As a team, protecting and assisting one another to the fullest of their abilites. Gaius grinned in anticipation. The soft pillow of air arubtly firmed into something more akin to steel then feather and cloth.
((Temp: App. -27 degrees for entire area. About -40 for immediate vicinity, caused by blast of cold released nearby, will disperse soon.))
