Romane's father, Robert Bissette, was a local, strict, workaholic cop in Detroit, Michigan. The man had 'fallen' in love with a local stripper, Amethyst Triggs, during patrol. So, after having a very entertaining and awkward relationship, Amethyst was dumped by Robert because he believed she never did love him and was only trying to fool him while having several men on the side. The woman did nothing of the sort, but the men at the station would rather believe Robert than a stripper. Amethyst's name was sullied and, in a moment of depression, thought why the hell wasn't she having several men on the side? So began her life as a local slut. It took a month or two afterward before she found out she was pregnant and went to Robert to inform him of their new baby. He didn't want anything to do with it until Amethyst, the clever girl, had went off to get a paternity test on the day of Romane's birth. From then on, Robert took the child as his own and did everything he could to keep the mother away. If he was ever going to raise a child, he would make sure they weren't the whore Amethyst was or as stupid as the rest of the local kids.

That mindset is what lead the man to isolating Romane for basically all of her childhood. He taught her for the first few years, but he missed his work more than he could handle being at home, cradling Romane in a corner and praying that he wasn't making a mistake. When the girl could properly walk, he left her for most of the day and night alone in their apartment. She wasn't allowed to leave without some kind of escort and, really, what time did Robert have to do that? That only left Romane to sit alone at home and do her homework. There wasn't a television, as her father thought they were unhealthy, and there wasn't a radio, since he believed that they could influence her into becoming something horrible. All she had were clocks, a few very dry books, and the oven. Her entertainment in her youth consisted of her learning to read and taking a part clocks for the fun of it. It was the only toy she honestly had, so why wouldn't she learn the ins and outs? This was how Romane grew fond of mechanics and things of that sort, enjoying taking apart anything in the home that worked on springs and levers. Her father never did mind it much as he wasn't home or sober enough to realize what she was doing.

Whether it was because Robert was always in a state of anxiety or that he chased away a woman he loved, the man had started to take to the drink like a fish discovering water. He wasn't a violent man and Romane didn't understand him for the most part as he often swapped back to French while stumbling about the home. Indeed, it did nothing but make her wonder just what the hell he was on! Besides, she enjoyed those times for she had some time to talk with her father and play with his police belt. She even had some fun messing with his radio and handcuffs for a whole night when she was eight. Ah, but, eventually, the idea that she didn't have a clue what her father was muttering and slurring out got to her. Since she didn't have much else to do, Romane requested she learn French like her father was so fluent in. For four or six years, Romane had studied the language through and through, mastering it as best as a lone girl with a couple of textbooks could. She got the hang of it eventually and, when that came, she waited eagerly for her father to come home drunk for her to decipher what he was saying.

..Honestly, that was probably a bad move for little Romane. Ignorance is really bliss, but no one knows that until it's long gone. All the insults towards her mother, the accusations on Romane's own loyalties, even a few random pokes at her own intelligence – all of them came at once. For a growing teenage girl, it was no wonder it trampled over her self esteem. It was just around the right time for her to hear all that, too, as Romane, like her mother, had spent a few days pondering it over to conclude with a why the hell not? Why wasn't she going out when she wasn't supposed to or watching television or hanging out with the kids down the street? She had plenty of time where she went unwatched! Why have any loyalty to a man who wasn't home?! With a huff, the girl took her first lone steps outside. She spent three breathless hours standing in the hallway outside of her apartment before ducking back inside to do her studies. The next week was of Romane jumpy as ever, afraid her father would find out that she had disobeyed. But.. nothing had changed. This only encouraged her to keep going out for more.

Soon, Romane was heading down to the corner store to buy herself snacks and watch the cars drive by on the street corner in her father's oversized clothing. ..Well, she didn't have many outfits of her own that she would go outside in! She may have been daring, but she wasn't so much where she would let him smell the car exhaust on her pressed button-ups. All this excitement and new found freedom was short lived, however. In a classic, all too cliché shooting, Romane's father had died. No suffering, nothing too traumatic, but the idea still lingered. When one is grieving, odd things will come to mind with logic that can only be classified as skewed. The teenager had thought on it for days at her mother's home, where she had been sent to stay with her newly discovered little brother, Kip Triggs, who would later impregnate a girl by the name of Eleanor Vatonage and give Romane a niece, but that's another story.

Eventually, she came to the conclusion that she was at fault and, if she ever wanted to make up for her horrible deed, she would have to take up her father's work and ideals. When she hit eighteen, the month after she moved to her mother's home, she went to the station and applied to become a police officer. Honestly, with her paranoia, she shouldn't have been allowed in. But, well, the chief of police had taken a liking to her by a stroke of luck. Even after a few false arrests and a misfire under her belt, Romane wasn't fired but, rather, transferred to somewhere with a much lower population. Nirvani Island, her new home.

Ah, and what a home it was! Romane's first day on Nirvani Island was started out with Romane's first drug experience at a burning flower shop housing marijuana. It wasn't the best way to start out things, but it couldn't get worse, correct? ..Oh, right, there were quite a few more mishaps to follow that year. A mysterious threatening letter had her on edge as she tried to locate the culprit, during which she met Kuan-yin Chao, or Cid, a traveling monk who seemed to have an interest in her. Before she could look much into him, though, her house burned down and she was forced into an inn room alone with the man while she got over losing her home and possessions. Just as she was about to pick herself up again, an innocent Cid molested a very confused Romane unknowingly, sending the woman into such a shock that she ended up having a panic attack that dragged almost half the town into a small jail cell for outrageous charges. Of course, her superiors suspended her the second she was caught.. But, there wasn't much of a break for Romane. A crazed self-proclaimed 'superhero' kidnapped her the same day and thus went Romane's already flimsy stability.

Lie after lie, from respectable woman to crazed, abusive lesbian to a weak moron.. Romane's self-perception went on a rickety roller coaster ride during the next season, eventually ending on the Masquerade. During which, a murderer had been tracked down by Romane and Neil Murrow, ending in her almost being shot and killed if not for her partner, Rachel Fate, coming in to the rescue. In the end, the blond had done more for Romane than most could. She picked up on her partner's mental illness and, knowing that she would refuse therapy, had started to spike Romane's coffee with medication to help her. Which it did! Romane's delusions started to die down and she felt safer to leave her house, while her career was 'saved', in a sense, as she had gotten some of the credit of finding Victoria Valentine to be the murderer of the woman's husband. She continued to live mildly contently with Cid and slowly, oh so slowly, started to enjoy his company as among the best friends she ever had. The man built her a new home while she was missing and even opted for staying longer than intended with her.

Outside of that, she had a relatively quiet year. She even managed to catch the fan culprit – or who she believed to be it – and her original kidnapper seemed to have disappeared, as well as the others she had fears of. For the most part, that is. She grew more friendly with Rachel Fate, Neil Murrow, and, of course, Cid over the year, much to her delight. There were the occasional annoyances – such as the Tepes ***** case, their home burning down while she was inside, and a few other frustrating crimes. But, she seemed to be doing much better – in a way. She was far more cautious of people and seemed to have lost her ideas of protecting civilians in favor of just protecting herself, but she wasn't appearing as depressed as she could have been. Ah, but, all things come to an end. A new kidnapping case her completely absorbed in work and, while she was busying herself, an offhanded comment or two had lead her old roommates, Cid and his recently adopted daughter 'Suzy MacDonald', into believing she would rather they left. She didn't notice quick enough to tell them otherwise and, even with the kidnapping case closed, she sunk back into a depression on her own.

At least, she managed to alleviate this by talking Rachel Fate, the new sheriff, into sleeping over as her new roommate and even went off on her own to reconnect with her niece, Rune Vatonage. Neil Murrow continued as her coffee friend and it seemed as though, even without Cid, she was back to doing as good as she could manage. She obtained a new partner, whom she quickly grew to dislike – especially when he knocked Rachel up with a child a year later. After the blond took a short vacation, she erected an electric fence around her cabin and became a menace again without her usual source of medication, but this was all solved upon the woman's return. There was a new fascination with a local citizen, but, aside from one occurrence, she has kept her distance to merely observing the victim.

Korth // Male // 3 Yrs

Korth is hyperactive, curious, and friendly. He loves meeting new people, as most dogs do, and is always more than happy to show his affection. It is doubtful whether he sees himself above Romane or not, but he rarely listens to her, though he is always the happiest to see her coming home.

Mauser // Male // 3 Yrs

Mauser listens well to commands and is a quiet, affectionate sort. Romane would like this, if he was not so likely to run off. Despite what it may seem, Korth is always at home, while Mauser is the one that often needs to be hunted down. Not to mention, despite his youth, he is a very strong fellow and even Romane finds herself struggling to lead him home should he wish not to.
