Taiat continued his trek through to the valley. He had decided to go exploring a while ago and ended up here. It was a quite enough place and there weren’t any other foxes around to pester Taiat. Besides he had been here once a long time ago when he was exploring as a kit. Perhaps he could find those caves that fascinated him so much as a kit. The mountainous valley with the forest safely nestled lower into it was a pleasing area to be around and the caves were simply beautiful, if you knew were to go of course. Taiat stopped for a moment to listen to the valley itself. The wind was blowing lightly and the animals that lived in the forest lower in the valley were up to their usual ruckus. Still there was something that was odd about today. He had a feeling that something would happen today that would affect his life greatly. Probably just a bit of anxiety mixed in with nostalgia after all this place has nothing of interest to anyone else here. The quite and solitude were nice. Taiat allowed himself to close his eyes and drift off into a peaceful mediation.

Harvest stretched her recently grown legs, her large wings extending as her body shuddered from the force. Her golden flames flickered lazily from her body, burning the ground gently around her feet. She had been flying through the valley for the day and had recently taken a nap to rest her new aching wings. Having only recently matured her body was not yet accustomed to her, but the purple vixen was slowly gaining strength.
She liked the silence that followed this valley, something she had escaped to for that. Prelude had been bugging her to much these days, one would think the recently grown male would have matured but one was wrong. Prelude was an idiot. Her friend, but an idiot at that. She didn't know if she felt for Prelude anymore then an annoying friend.
Her red eyes caught the movement of orange, a color almost as bright as her own. She eyed the male, curiously wondering why he was somewhere so desolate. Unlike her he couldn't get away from here quickly. He could die here all alone.
Really, why was he here?

Smelling charred earth Taiat opened his eyes and looked for the source of the fire. Turning his head he saw her. A Deava. What the hell is a Deava doing out here? There weren't any good fights to pick out here. This was quite restful valley. Taiat looked at her. She was a pretty enough he supposed. A bit small compared to an old Deava so she must be fairly young. He supposed he would have to say hello or extend some other form of greeting to her. Most foxes seemed to expect that, and judging from the way she was watching him it was doubtful he could escape unseen. Damn
Wanting nothing more then to continue on his way to the caves, Taiat walked toward the purple deava. Sitting down a fair distance away from her in case she attacked he started at her. How was one supposed to say hello to a total stranger without feeling awkward? His right eye twitched in slight annoyance.

Harvest was not like most of her kind. She was not violent, she was distant. She isolated herself from most, she just wasn't emotionally invested in others. She watched him approach her, her own annoyance only showing as she twitched the end of her tail, her face blank. Why did he approach? She had merely been watching him because he was foolish in her mind. His sudden approach was not something she had wanted. In fact, she was reminded of Prelude's first announcement of his self declared friendship to her.
He sat some distance from her, something most did when it came to her. Did everyone think her kind were violent monsters? She was quite tired of it. She opened her mouth to voice this annoyance towards the subject, eyes cold and empty at the same time.
"I am not going to rip your throat out, relax." She hissed.

Taiat blinked. That was not something most foxes normally said when first meeting another fox. Somehow this Deava's lack of convention made Taiat happy just a little bit some where deep, deep, inside. Perhaps she hadn't wanted him to be anywhere near her in the first place? Fascinating you assumed I was nervous or anxious at being near you; yet I only came over because it is generally expected to say some form of greeting to another fox when you see them. It never occurred to you that I wouldn't want sit next you because of the scorched vegetation around you? Or the fact that you are a complete stranger and simply cozening up to another stranger isn't something that is typically done? Taiat calmly waited for a moment to see what she would do next. If he got bored he could always head off to the caves.

She didn't even flinch, however her flames seemed to grow larger for a second, as if playing a game with him. She controlled the heat, making them barely lick her paws before addressing him. Niko had been a wonderful teacher in controlling her flames. "I do not desire a stranger in my face. However, I know what your kind thinks of mine. We are monsters to you, correct? It would be a lie if you said you did not group me in with the stereotypical beliefs of what my kind are, wouldn't it? I was assuming nothing, but I am not blind at how you distance yourself the perfect distance to flee if I came after you. I doubt you would do that to another 'normal' fox."
She did not seem harsh, she spoke as if merely speaking a fact.

Taiat tilted his head. This female was fascinating, still the caves awaited. Wrapping this up quickly will be good. My kind? Ah you must mean flightless foxes. Interesting you accuse me of lumping you with a stereotype and yet you do the same. You are correct in that the other Deava's I have met have been more aggressive then you, however so are most other flightless foxes I know. You are however mistaken in assuming that it is only Deava's I would put this kind of distance to. Any fox I don't know I would prefer to keep out of distance of attack. Taiat tilted his head back to it's proper position and flicked his ears. She had said she didn't want a stranger around. That was good. It would be a quick way to end this chat and allow Taiat to continue on his way. If you do not desire company then you will feel no compulsion to continue this conversation most likely. So I will leave you now. Taiat stood up and walked past the spot where the purple Deava was still just out of paw strike range. His paws felt the burnt plants from where her flames exploded out before.

Harvest shrugged at this response. She never said she wasn't stereotyping, but when it came to the flightless it was merely facts to her. She couldn't count the number of times she had received frighten glances or hateful sneers. She had grown up receiving and accepting. When she was a kit she had noticed how her wings would startle others. Some adult deavas never had wings as kits. Why? Was she a pureblood? How could she know, her mother was never around and neither was her father.
Taiat moved, and she felt a sudden sadistic thread jerk inside her. Her eyes narrowed before she trained her face to hold her normal calm posture before saying: "You know, earlier I saw a bear wander in there." This wasn't actually a lie, she had watched a bear stumble in, but she also didn't know if it was still there. The Deava was larger then the modifox, she didn't have worry, but then again a loner fox would.

A bear? that could be trouble if it took up residence in those caves. Taiat stopped for a moment digesting the information before turning to face the purple fox. Thank you for the information. Taiat blinked. He didn't know this Deava's name. I should have asked before that would have been more polite. For some reason a lot of foxes had something of a meltdown when you forgot something like their name, or never bothered asking it. My apologies, I haven't asked your name yet, have I?

Harvest blinked at him, having been about to stand up and walk off. Her name? Hardly anyone cared for her name anymore. She was a Deava, names were not needed. Only wariness and caution. She turned her head, curiously eyeing the other. So, he really wasn't like most flightless, was he? Maybe she could reward him with her name. Not before she knew his, there was power in a name. Anyway, he had never asked her name. Only if he had questioned.
"I suppose you have not. Neither have I, though. What is your name?"

Taiat thought over the words that they had exchanged so far. She was right; she hadn’t asked his name either. That made Taiat feel a bit better knowing he hadn’t committed some horrible social fault. If she hadn’t asked his name she must not have expected him to give her his. My name is Taiat. May I know your name or should I refer you as Amethyst? If she didn’t like amethyst he could always refer to her as chromium alum, but he kept this second thought to himself; after all she might not know what color crystal that could be.

Harvest was almost reminded of when she had been a kit, when Prelude had taken her to that one day of playing with a bunch of other kits. There had been many kits, and she was reminded of how they asked her name. That was the first and last time someone questioned her name without calling her a monster, or worse, frightening. Until now, that is. Even if she didn't want to admit it, she missed those days.
"Though I wish my name was Amethyst, my name is actually Harvest." Amethyst was a better name then her own, or so she firmly believed. However, Harvest was the name she had been given. Was it Niko that named her? Or did she name herself? Who knew.

I believe the name suits you quite well. Taiat tilted his head as he studied the female Deava intently. It gives you a grace and dignity that matches your frame. His tone indicated that he was speaking his mind and any flattery was unintentional. Calling you Amethyst might match better to your coat, but it might make you seem a bit plain and uninteresting, at least that's how I see it after a moment of further study. Naming you Harvest gives you a cloak of intrigue. Taiat looked down toward the way he had been headed before. A thought occurred to him. Perhaps this female might enjoy the caves since she seemed partial to amethyst. The caves had some amethyst and if he picked up some flint stones and some tinder he could show her how pleasing it was aesthetically. Are you familiar with this area at all?

Harvest tilted her head, smirking at the comment. Oh? So he was complimenting her name? That was a first. Of course, she noticed his tone, not taking the compliment seriously. He was someone who spoke his mind it seemed. She smirked yet again at the mention of her name giving her intrigue, shaking her head. She liked Amethyst better, maybe if she had kits she would name one that. If anyone ever would even think of having kits with her boring self.
She noticed his glance at the caves, giving them her own curious look. She was interested in exploring, but she was not going in there alone. She was smarter than that, smarter then to enter a cave alone when she had recently seen a bear. Her wings would be unable to stretch much in a cave. "Not really. I've been flying around here, but I don't know this place much."

Taiat couldn’t help but smile. Harvest was very pretty and her name did suit her so for her to be smirking and shaking her head like that, well it seemed a bit ridiculous. He didn’t press the subject though, since he didn’t want to annoy her. She was quite pleasing to speak with. That’s a shame. In the caves are some absolutely beautiful crystal formations. I was actually on my way to go see them again myself before I came to talk with you. Care to join me? Taiat looked carefully at his feet and spotted a few small stones of flint. perfect! He scooped them up and starting thinking about what kind of tinder to bring.
