This seemingly deserted grave site is still very much in use. The locals only need to place their dead at the front gate and all is taken care of. Recently there has been a rise in theft.

Outside of the shop a strange carriage was waiting. Kandyl opened the door and waited for Ryuu. "Please sit down. Do not look from the window nor move from your seat until I tell you" she said in her soft whispered voice. "It will be a long ride so if you wish you may sleep. I will explain your duties in more detail after we reach my cemetery." After Ryuu climbed in she hopped up on the drivers seat and urged the strange, large horses to move. Despite this being a carriage it was very smooth. Almost as if they were flying. Hours passed by. Nothing could be heard from inside the carriage itself. Finally it came to a stop. The door opened and Kandyl stood there in her normal clothing. Her pale blue dress almost looked as if it was part of her. There was no distinction between her skin and the flowing skirt that covered her entire lower half. Silver jewelry stood out on her pale completion."Welcome to my home Ryuu" she said as she stepped out of his way to get out. The graves were grey. Everything was grey, the sky, everything. A heavy ominous mist twisted and snaked around every tomb and seeped slowly through the bars on the large gate. The top of the gate read:
Von Ransom Cemetery. There lying under a cloth at the front gate was a small child. A sad look crossed Kandyls eyes. "Please explore your new home. I have some buisness to attend to. I will meet you in my mansion at the end of this walkway. If you run into any grave robbers please do take care of it. I would very much like these souls to rest in peace" As she turned the gates automatically opened and the body in front of it raised into the air and floated behind Kandyl. After they walked into the thick mist, they both vanished.

Although it felt odd to just pass through the bars like that, and maybe it should have been unsettling even, Ryuu didn’t seem to mind it. Granted, a little of the surprise he felt showed up in his expression. He nodded, hopping into the carriage and sitting on the seat, lying down and one leg resting on the other knee as soon as the door was closed. Ryuu was very tempted to have a peek out the window but restrained himself, he knew what happens when you don’t follow an order. His mind for the most part stayed blank during the ride, drifting off for an hour or two before the carriage came to a stop.

Ryuu felt the movement of the door opening before he opened his eyes, sitting up. He nodded, jumping down from the carriage and for a moment, he thought there were no clothes on his new Mistress. That is until he noted that there seemed to be a skirt flowing from her waistline. Ryuu’s eyes scanned the area, lingering for only a moment on the small form at the gate, a pit already forming in his stomach.
“Alright, you don’t have to worry about them with me around,” Ryuu said as Kandyl disappeared with the child. He began walking down the path, heading for the mansion that was mentioned and stopped at the sound of something. Lifting his right hand up he clutched at the charms, crouching a little as he made his way to where he heard something. With his left hand ready to grab out he stopped, his body relaxing as he realized it was just a bird. ‘Stupid bird...’

Kandyl finished her work quickly. She smiled sadly as she inscribed the last letter on the small child's tombstone. Something bad must be happening in town. A lot of the bodies coming to her cemetery recently were children. After praying over her grave she turned and walked away. In the distance she spotted Ryuu. She loved how easily she was able to spot him in all this greyness and fog. Also, his unearthly color would be sure to keep robbers away. "Evening Ryuu" she said with a slight nod when she walked up to him,"How is everything going with you? Are you satisfied with your new home?" she asked smiling softly. "Your sleeping quarters will be there, in that building. Mine is right across from yours in there.I do not usually sleep, but you will find me resting there." Her mind wandered for a moment. Blank eyes looked at nothing in the distance. She then turned and looked back at Ryuu."I forgot to ask, but what do you eat?" she said looking a little worried. Seeing as she was dead, Kandyl didn't have any food at her mansion. Acquiring such things would not be difficult now though because of her new guard.

Ryuu straitened, drawing the bird’s attention to him and making it fly off in fear. He shook his head, bending down and picking up a hand full of the dirt, letting it sift through his fingers and looked up as Kandyl was speaking to him. Ryuu really did have to find out how to tell when she was around or not. He couldn’t hear her movements and could barely detect her scent. “It’s nice here. I like it,” Ryuu said to the phantom’s question, looking to where Kandyl said the slave quarters where. “And I’ll eat anything,” He added, bringing the dirt up to his nose and sniffing it. He’d never really been outside, much less been able to get a better sense of the ground. But Ryuu wasn’t going to mention just how much he ate. Unlike Cain, who hardly ate anything, Ryuu tended to need more. Which was a bit ironic seeing as Cain was the one who shifted forms. Ryuu let the rest of the dirt fall from his hand and wiped it on his jeans as he stood up.

"Are you sure? With you around I do not have any problems with getting you a supply of food" She said with a bit more awareness in her expression. She looked worried for her slave. "I want you to be healthy. I can't have you sick while on duty." she said her face dropping back to normal. She looked around and smiled. "It seems though that your mere presence has cause any would be thieves to not tread here." At that moment a small bell could be heard ringing. Kandyl sighed again then looked at Ryuu for a long moment. "come with me, I will show you what I do" She glided past Ryuu and headed toward the gate. There on the ground was another body, this time though it was an older woman. Gently she raised off the ground and drifted through the gate up to Kandyl. Smiling at Ryuu she made her way back to a smaller building next to the church. Unlike what you'd expect her to do in a situation such as this, Kandyl only laid the body in an ornate casket. She positioned the body and did anything else if requested by who ever left the body. Sometimes people would leave notes for special things they wanted written on the tombs or special items to go in with the body. After preparing the body the casket closed then followed her outside to an open grave. She gently lowered it in. And the ground closed up and looked as though it had never been opened for centuries. After a moment she prayed over the grave and the words appeared on the headstone. She smiled sadly then looked at Ryuu. "Well, what do you think?"

“I’m not a picky eater,” Ryuu said, pulling the corners of his lips up in a smile. “And that’s good. I mean, it makes my job easier right?” He added as Kandyl commented on how Ryuu just being there deterred anyone. He looked up at the sound of a small bell breaking the quiet. Ryuu nodded, taking in Kandyl’s somber expression and matching it. Part of him did not look forward to that. He followed Kandyl, the pit in his stomach forming again but not as bad. He watched, quiet as ever even after his Mistress finished and asked him what he thought. It took Ryuu a moment before he found his voice again. “It’s a nice thing you do… Taking care of someone’s loved one…”

Kandyl smiled sadly,"It is something I had always wished for in life..." she said her eyes drifting down to the ground. Her face contorted into a incredibly sad expression. Most normal humans would have broken into tears by just looking at her. "So I decided to help those who needed it. They have free access to the cemetery to meet them as well." she said still looking at the floor. "Please excuse me..." she said turning slowly then glided away just as slowly.

Ryuu nodded, unsure what to do. His Mistress was upset and he had no idea how to make it better for her. With a light sigh he bend down to the fresh grave, staring at the tombstone. “Emily… that sounds like a nice name…” He said quietly to himself before rubbing his nose. Ryuu had no clue what to do. Either for the gravesite or for Kandyl.

Kandyl went into the church and made her way to the front. Her face looked as though she was crying although no tears were falling. She closed her eyes tightly and prayed hard to the statue of mary and jesus that was leaning on the wall. Her words were in latin:

"V. Angelus Domini nuntiavit Mariae.
R. Et concepit de Spiritu Sancto.

Ave Maria, gratia plena; Dominus tecum: benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui Iesus. * Sancta Maria, Mater Dei ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.

V. Ecce ancilla Domini,
R. Fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum.

Ave Maria, gratia plena; Dominus tecum: benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui Iesus. * Sancta Maria, Mater Dei ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.

V. Et Verbum caro factum est,
R. Et habitavit in nobis.

Ave Maria, gratia plena; Dominus tecum: benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui Iesus.* Sancta Maria, Mater Dei ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.

V. Ora pro nobis, sancta Dei Genetrix,
R. Ut digni efficiamur promissionibus Christi.

Oremus. R. Amen."

Her voice echoed so much in the church that even those in town would be able to hear her. It almost sounded as if angels were speaking.
After finishing a small smile crossed her face. She nodded to the statue then left the church.

(( ANGELUS english version here, [Translation] ))

Ryuu looked up as he heard Kandyl saying something. It was strange, she was so far away and yet he could hear her, whatever she was saying, from where he was. Ryuu got up and slowly made his way to the church, curious as to what was going on. He stopped just as Kandyl was leaving, his head titling to the right as he watched her. “What was that…?” He asked, curiosity coloring his tone.

Kandyl stopped when she spotted Ryuu."Oh Im sorry...did that bother you?" she asked as worry crept onto her face. "I do that from time to time. to...keep me sane so to speak" she said looking away towards nothing.

((sorry for the short post))

Ryuu shook his head, managing to keep it tilted at the same time. “No. It was pretty. It’s just I have no idea what you said… or what it was really…” He said, still watching Kandyl. As a bird took off from a tree it drew Ryuu’s attention without his consent, and watched it take off before tearing his eyes away and back to Kandyl.

((It's fine.))

"It was a prayer. You'll find I do that quite a bit" she said smiling softly. "Well, I think I shall retire for the evening" she said nodding to him."You may do as you see fit except for leave the cemetery. If you break anything come and tell me right away. I'd rather you tell me the moment it happens than me find it later on understood?" she said walking toward him and stopped in front of him a few feet away, her face a deadly calm.

“Got it,” Ryuu said, the hair on the back of his neck standing up as Kandyl gave him the dead even look. He reached up a hand and scratched under the collar around his neck, the charms making a small metallic sound as they bumped together. “I’ll just walk around or something like that,” He said, going to make sure it was alright with Kandyl before doing it.
