AIM Log: Andranis & _ p a o cx

The smell of the lands was different, but the smells of the lions was not. She knew many of the smells, of many of the lions, though some were new. Others smelled like familiar lions, yet still different. It smelled as if many of the lions she had known when she was young had had cubs of their own. The new ones were just that... New. She herself wasn't, stepping into the lands with a confidence that only a returning lion would have. As Kizimwi moved through the lands, she listened to the sounds around her, for any lions that might be around. It was a new place, but... It felt good to be home again.

As usual, to avoid the suffocating atmosphere that was his den Njiru was going out of his was the head hunter of the pride and patrolling the borders. If anything it was to kill time so he didn't have to put up with his mate for too long at any given time of the day. She'd probably not be back at the den, of course, since she's such a dutiful lioness, but all the same just her scent that lingered was enough to drive him off. Deep down he knew he harbored feelings for her other than hate, annoyance, bitterness, and other similar sorts of emotions, but he'd be damned before he admitted to any of it.

The lion, now just a bit older than he had been thanks to his cubs (who are now fully grown and out and about on their own), huffed when he caught sight of a lioness entering the pride's territory. She seemed vaguely familiar but he couldn't quite put his paw on it. "You there!" he called then, deciding that he'd ask instead of let the thought linger and eat away at him for the rest of the day. Njiru approached her quickly. "You're entering into pridal territory," he continued after coming to a stop just a couple of yards away. "Before I let you pass, what brings you to the Mwezi'Johari?"

Kizimwi stopped, ears perking as she looked over towards the sound of the voice. She stared for a moment at the lion, processing his looks and his smell, nose twitching. After a moment, she stepped closer, blue eyes dancing. "I'm coming home, taht's what brings me here..." She smiled, the wing markings on her back almost seeming to dance as she moved. "And you... I remember you, Njiru... Out on a hunt...?"

He seemed a little surprised. It'd been a while since they moved so it was a little strange that this lioness was returning only now. Still, it was proof enough that she knew his name so he relaxed a bit and took a seat. His tail still swished to and fro slowly behind him as he tried to remember who she was. Njiru made a face when he couldn't. "Well you know me," he said aloud, furrowing his brows as though doing that could force even an inkling of a memory out of the recesses of his mind. "So it's proof enough. Welcome home.. what was it again?" Njiru eyed the lioness then, still willing something to come to him. "Kuh.. something, right?"

"Kizimwi!" Delight washed over her face. She hadn't really expected someone to remember her name, much less the first part of it. "Tell me, is Unyezi still king? How's the pride been these past many moons? I smell so many new lions, too!" It was evident she was excited to be back, excited to see old faces again. "Besides a new home and new faces, what else has changed...?"

Kizimwi.. still didn't ring a bell, but he nodded still and even offered the slightest of smiles. He was no welcoming committee, what was for sure, but at least he sorta-kinda gave it some effort. "There's been quite a few changes since we settled," he replied, glancing back toward to the heart of the pride lands. "My brother and his then-queen had one royal litter, now fully grown, and his daughter was named heir. My niece, Alcmene, is our current queen; she took the throne upon adolescence. Unyezi has since stepped down as king and taken a mate, a slave going by the name of... Nerit." He said it all in one big stride, though last bit had a hint of satisfaction in his tone. "And yes, plenty of new faces to go around. Most of them young ones, quite a few rogues as well.. I'm not too well versed with the newcomers mind you. You'll have to speak to whoever's in charge of that for specifics."

Unyezi had done what? Kizimwi's face showed absolute shock. It was a neutral shock, simply because such news was.. Well, surprising. When the shock value had worn off, she frowned, then smiled. "He must have been in love for some time to mate to a slave..." She wondered, though, how was Alcmene as a queen? The pride was obviously thriving, so she had to be doing very well. Her mind then wandered, wondering who to ask about new faces. She'd figure that out later. "What about you, Njiru? Have you found your happily ever after?" Her tail curled under her, smile still on her face. She bet he had beautiful children!

He snerked a bit at the comment. "No such thing as happily ever after, Kizimwi," he replied with a shrug. "I have mate and cubs who are now fully grown, yes, but it's far from being a 'happily ever after'." It was a miracle that he even found a mate, though she was more forced to do it than anything else. There were night he wondered whether or not she liked him at all or married him simply out of duty for the pride, but he would never actually ask her for the answer to that question. It was likely he'd die never knowing. He cleared his throat, clearly ready for a different topic. "Well it has been a while since we found this new home. What kept you?"

Kizimwi's ears folded back as she looked away, as if in shame. "I wandered away from the travel party as an adolescent, chasing some small prey animal... I got lost and couldn't find my way back, and when I finally did..." She sighed, sitting down. "Everybody was gone, moved on without me. I tried following, but I got lost again..." She didn't look up right away, afraid that he'd look at her with shame.

A silly reason, no doubt, and normally he would had said something condescending and reprimanded her for doing something like that, but.. well, she was newly returned and in all honesty he shouldn't have been the one to welcome her in the first place. So, without making a comment, he snorted instead, smirking a little in amusement. "I see," he replied with a little shrug before getting up. "Well you can explain yourself more thoroughly to Her Highness. She'll know what to do about you, though I'm sure she'd simply welcome you back with open arms. If it were me.. ah, if it were me..." and his thoughts wandered a bit as he turned to face the inner lands of the pride. "Follow me, Kizimwi," he finally said after coming to. "I shall take you to see her. It's about time I head back in anyway."

She could hear it in his voice that he wanted to comment, but when he held back... It made her smile sheepishly. The lioness rose to her paws, following the black male. The smells of the pride grew stronger as they grew closer, and her smile transformed from sheepish to pleased. She was home... At last.
